    Cheers A Great video. I've noticed that when my shock oil level is just right it's almost flush with the top when I compress the shaft after the air is all gone. Bloody good video, lots of good info. Cheers mate

    Thanks , Should the oil be filled with the shocks compressed or extended in terms of the level?

  • @mikechu7959
    @mikechu7959 Год назад +18

    This video is incorrect. You have to tighten the cap when the shock it's fully compressed. The reason why, you can't fully compressed the shock, is because, you have air in your shocks.

      Problem in this video is the thickness of the oil, the oil is so thick it can pass the holes in the piston and now the damper act like a spring.
      Bit of air in the shocks is ok, air is compressible, oil not.
      The damper has to slow down and control the movements of the spring.

    • @cg3399
      @cg3399 7 месяцев назад

      Yeah oil is not going to keep it from going all the way in air has much more pressure pushing against the damper than oil. This will not allow the car to ride or land as smooth as it should

    In all the instructions I’ve seen you’re told to fill the oil to the point where you put the cap on and expect overflow, which would indicate a fully filled cylinder, would it not?

    5000 CST is not shock oil but diff oil

    Hi.
    Nice shocks. I like the 4mm shaft. Perfect for 1/10 monster cause springs are too strong for crawlers.
    First I'll try ~850 CST (will see later) ... Holes in pistons are really big so ya maybe 5k are too fluid ...

    I think you want that compression from the damper so it doesn’t bottom out. So you did it right the first time and didn’t need to take out any oil. Correct me if I’m wrong.

      I usually leave a little room before the shocks bottoms out, and i like that good rebound for my rock crawler since i need the tires on contact at all times

  • @howintesting940
    @howintesting940 Год назад +1

    without spring installed, shock shaft ideally should not rebound much, which is it is designed for. It only rebound just a little bit due to a small air chamber on shock top.

      I thought all shocks that have a bladder are supposed to rebound? Only the shocks that don’t have the rubber bladder do not?

    Which one better, make a zero rebound (before put the bladder and cap shock, push the shaft shock all the way up) or rebound like in this lovely video?

    Hello It's very interesting thank you for your video When you screw the caps back on, do you keep the stems stretched as much as possible or do you pull them up a little while screwing them back on? Thanks for your advices :)

    Can I ask you for the outer diameter of the oil chamber?

    • @jamesduncan2719
      @jamesduncan2719 2 года назад

      If you leave what you are doing, likely you will not be able to resume what you are doing the same way. At least not with shocks or anything that requires you to take apart to tune or maintain.

    Hello, I understand that if the piston does not enter inside it is due to excess oil and that you have to remove a little and so I have done, but when I put it inside the piston does not come out, what will be the cause?, it has been days and I cannot solve it, I will appreciate your comments, Thank you.

    I made it as show in a gmade manual... And it's overfilled because If I do it as shown the cap pushes against the oil. I need to open them again. It's clearly to much

  • @mindbodyandsoul81

    so if you see the piston pass the top of oil does that mean you should add a bit more oil?

    • @dustinfowler7868
      @dustinfowler7868 3 года назад +1

      Possibly, but what He's saying is to not let the piston come up over the oil because it will allow air to get into the oil. So,properly filled to the level needed allowing a few millimeters from the top so the bladder can go in the shock without spilling over. Hope that makes sense.

  • @sekefy1

    This is totally wrong the spring should be staying compressed once you push them you have put too much oil. you have to screw the cap when the spring is compressed.

    • @baldurivar
      @baldurivar 8 месяцев назад

      There is no spring, do you mean the shock needs to be compressed.

    Quite bad instructions...🥶 Way too stiff oil, too much of it because piston is out when filled, should not rebound, even the lighting is poor. Zero points.
