Great video! I appreciate the information. I am researching wheel spacers and have decided to install longer studs and use a 1/2 inch spacer that slips over the studs. I currently run 17x8 wheels with zero offset, 285/70/17 but plan to jump up to actual 33x12.5. I am sure that I will run into clearance issues with the SPC upper control arms. I have already done a cab mount chop.

Did you end up leaving the rear studs cut to about 2” past the head? Or did you cut them further after breaking the locking nut?

I ended up cutting an extra 1/8" off one side as for whatever reason the opposite side I took an extra 1/8" off to begin with. Originally I measured too closely on that one side and the top of the wheel lock snapped off as soon as I took the key and started turning.

@@randomrebuilds awesome thanks. I was going to try to get these cut and installed while waiting on wheels, but sounds like maybe I should wait and measure…

@@techvidz93 Yes, measure the depth of the wheel stud opening on the wheels and then the depth of the lugnut for accurate measuring. Its best to wait till you are ready to install the wheels, but you could cut down the ARP studs and file down the edges as that part took me the longest time, but you'd need an OEM stud to compare to unless you want to use my measurement in the video and add 1/4" or 3/8"?

How did you cut the wheel studs

    • @randomrebuilds

Used an angled grinder with a cutoff wheel.

@@randomrebuildswouldn't the heat created by cutting it with an angle grinder ruin the temper and anneal the metal ? I'd imagine those studs are hardened from manufacturing....

What size tires and wheels any rubbing

      18x9, 0 offset, 275/65/18. no rubbing on a 2" lift

Way too much work for the same result that a good set of ET lug nuts can solve

That would be nice, but Rays wheels will not allow ET style lugs to be used as the bolt openings are too small. Black Rhino, SCS, Icon wheels and a select few others will allow ET lugs.
