@@mack-1025 bro, hermes was first and foremost a God of merchants, basically, he was a messenger. He was good lukc for wealth and all that bazaaz. Ares is a damn God of war
Good depiction of Ares...they indulge the whole "black-armored, intimidating warrior" thing we've seen in other media...but they also show that he has a mind for tactics (he IS a god of warfare, after all). He waits, observes, and defends...and then strikes. Later on, he cuts loose with a berserker rage. I also enjoy the whole "family-drama" angle...Ares was a natural-born son of Zeus and Hera, right? If anyone would ally themselves with Hera, it would be Ares...a son who is bitter that his father is consistently unfaithful. It also explains the rivalry between Ares and both Apollo & Hermes...and Artemis, I suppose (she doesn't get much screen time). Yet, these bastard siblings inherit their father's sense of justice (even if he lacks good sense)...and they are not malicious, and actually accept Heron when he visits Olympus, when all the other gods scoff at him. Ares has only inherited his mother's anger & bitterness...so their are a lot of emotional strings to this tangled mess.
This is actually not a good depiction of Ares for one of the reasons you mentioned. Yes, Ares is a god of warfare, but he is the god of violent and chaotic warfare. Athena is the goddess of strategic warfare. As such, Ares should not have a mind for tactics but should be charging into battle without so much as a second thought because that's what his dominion is all about.
@@Failed_Vestige_of_Exandria so you wanna tell me that the god of War just randomly runs into battle. Athena often fights unfair and to her advantage thats why shes strategic. But Ares has to be strategic in terms of fighting eye in eye with his opponent. He knows how to fight with every weapon. And just beacause Homer wrote Ares like a dump weakling it doesnt mean that whole Greek thought this. For example in Thrace and Sparta Ares was the most skilled fighter and the thrachiens even made him one of their patreons beside Artemis and Dionysos. Don't say that Ares fights with no strategy. He is bloodthirsty and brutal yes but he is also one of the best fighter. In an non athenian Story when Zeus first saw Ares he feared him and believed He would kill him one day. But Ares stayed always loyal.
The one thing you're forgetting about the relationship between Zeus and Hera is that THEY'RE BROTHER AND SISTER TOO! Kind of not surprising that Zeus doesn't want to remain faithful in a marriage of incest that he had to accept after defeating the titans.
Not stronger per day they just are not in their elements Apollo is on a chariot but he’s useing his sword not the best combo and not his choice weapon. Hermes’s speed is great but it’s also limited he can’t make hair pin turns so his attacks are predictable as seen when Ares pins him don’t need to Karachi his speed if you know where and when he’s going to be there. Finally they are not war gods he is The War God fighting against anyone other then a fellow war god he’s got the advantage
@@Adorable2854 Although Athena was the goddess of wisdom and knowledge, she was physically weaker than Ares, the god of war, who was known for his strength and power in battle. Despite this disadvantage, Athena was more strategic and capable of using her wit to defeat the god of war. She was able to outsmart Ares by using her intelligence and cunning to outmaneuver him. It enabled her to win battles that she would have been unable to win with physical strength. Armed with her famed Aegis shield and the mysterious Gorgon's head, Athena was a force to be reckoned with. For those who got interested in Greek Mythology after watching the show: Ares is the god of war and violence, son of Zeus and Hera. He is in love with Aphrodite, the goddess of beauty and love. I believe that she’s the woman in the audience with purple hair. Hermes is (obviously) known for being very fast, mishevious and clever. He’s the messenger of the gods, and the god of travel, theives, trade and much more. Son of Zeus and Maia. Apollo is the god of the sun, healing, music, archery, poetry and much, much more. He has had both male and female lovers, but most of his lovers have been turned into plants or jumped off cliffs :/ He is the son of Zeus and Leto, and the twin brother of Artemis, the moon goddess. She’s shown next to Aphrodite in the audience :) If you have any questions I’ll gladly try and answer them, since I’m a big mythology nerd. That they used these three specific gods(Apollo, Hermes and Ares) for this arena scene made it confusing for a second. Because at first, it seemed like a reference to the myth of the Olympic games where Apollo defeated both Ares and Hermes. Edit: to all the people in the reply section saying that in Greek mythology he’s actually written that way, I’m very well aware. It doesn’t mean I have to like it. I’m of the opinion that a god of war should one of the most powerful Olympians. The actual mythology disagrees with me, but this show doesn’t, so I like it.

Yeah, Ares is of a rare kind, a son of Zeus and Hera. I swear, 99% of Zeus's children are not with Hera
@@awebtoonreader4979 That should make Ares the legitimate heir to the iron throne... oh wait wrong show LOL
I love how little they hold back in showing how strong Ares is compared to his siblings.
Athena>>>
Combined with her wisdom, courage, and skill as a warrior, she was an indomitable foe, even for Zeus himself.
honestly Ares is the God that gets his ass handled to him constantly
like he lost to Achiles and to Heracles and others
@georgyekimov4577 Nah it's just because his being a coward but if he continued fighting he would have won
Athena and Artemis should have joined the fight.

Athena was there? Was she the one standing beside Artemis and Aphrodite?
@@jkjk7423 No, I think it’s Demeter. Later in the season you see that goddess manipulating plants. I’m wondering if Athena is dead. The background said gods died in the war against the giants. Later a scene shows Hera and Seraphim in what appears to be an abandoned temple with a statue of Athena.
@@mccrie407 No, she’s standing next Ares when zues brings the demigod to Olympus for the first time
That is one of the many reasons why I don't like Blood of Zeus - the fact that apart from Hera, none of the other goddesses do anything >:(
For those who got interested in Greek Mythology after watching the show:
Ares is the god of war and violence, son of Zeus and Hera.
He has had both male and female lovers, but most of his lovers have been turned into plants or jumped off cliffs :/
He is the son of Zeus and Leto, and the twin brother of Artemis, the moon goddess. She’s shown next to Aphrodite in the audience :)
If you have any questions I’ll gladly try and answer them, since I’m a big mythology nerd. Also, the myths vary alot so it’s hard to say exactly what’s right and wrong :))

That they used these three specific gods(Apollo, Hermes and Ares) for this arena scene made it confusing for a second.
