- 18-year-old Hannah Elizabeth Graham was in her second-year of college at the University of Virginia. Out for the evening at Charlottesville's downtown pedestrian mall, meeting friends, and having drinks. A night any college student looked forward to. But Hannah ended up heavily intoxicated and all alone. That is, until she met a man. The last words overheard by a passer-by on the street were,"I'm not getting into the car with you," And then she was gone.

People need to start demanding no early release as part of sentencing because progressives love to release criminals early as they complain about crime + blame law abiding citizens guns.
25 yrs for 2 murders is a crime in itself. I’m glad the family did not accept the plea deal. Life in prison is lenient, imo.

@@daviddaddy you may have missed it, he got 4 life sentences without the ability to appeal. He also has Stage 4 cancer. I can attest that the treatments are a fate comparable to death. I wasn't in prison so I received excellent care. Let's all hope, some pray, that he lives so he can finish his term of life in prison to a ripe old age of 92!

In the most recent study, 74% of serial killers experienced childhood trauma and 42% experienced trauma during young adulthood (13-18). Do we ignore that? What if understanding what causes people do to these things could help prevent others from doing them?

The fact that those who knew him were saying what a great, gentle guy he was, including the women he'd dated... just goes to show. Doesn't matter what someone's reputation is with a thousand people. All it takes is one victim. You never fully know someone's demons, especially if they keep them meticulously hidden.

I believe it was said that she lived close by but got turned around. I live close to the club I used to attend every weekend and walked home alone. I stayed on a major road and didn't meet any issues. Unfortunately, she was not as lucky. When you're young you just don't think it can happen to you.

There are about 2 or 3 cases of women disappearing in that area which do seem to fit with this criminal. It’s sick to think most of these cases and women, the public knows nothing about them.

Having gone clubbing many times during my teens, the one thing you always knew when coming out of the club is that there are desperate dudes, predators and the police lurking to catch a prey and the latter for a drunk driver. Girls under no circumstances should walk by themselves at night, especially when they're drunk.
Putting police officers in the same group as predators is so vile. Who did everything to find her and investigated ? the Police.
How about not going clubbing and getting drunk to begin with? Hmmm, logic? What a concept!

This could’ve been avoided 1000%. I mean it doesn’t take a genius to say that this guy has had 12 victims come forward and it wasn’t going to be his last.

That's crazy how they probably would've never solved Morgan's murder if they hadn't been so diligent in solving Hannah's.
I like how they use words like: sweet, kind, tender, big hearted and gentle. Meanwhile he had a string of 12 women he abused (that we know of) and made 1 of them feel so terrified she fled back to INDIA to ensure her safety.
None of these things ever seem to matter though, they show that in plea deals and lenient sentencing.

My childhood was difficult, but i have these human traits like a conscience and a heart and empathy for others and revulsion at people being hurt or scared. There are at least 6 others that he may have murdered. La-Teasha Lamone Brooks, Julie Marie Fraser, Autumn Wind Day, Sophia Rivera, Shellie Carson, and Cassandra Morton. The last two were brutally beaten and the rest their bodies have never been found.

I find it baffling that his mother had the audacity to let out a wail at her vile son's sentencing knowing how devious & depraved her son's crimes against these beautiful young women were. She should have had the decency to have kept quiet for the victims families in court & done her weeping in private.

I used to hitchhike in my youth, & was stopped by a police officer in Charlottesville because they thought I was Hannah. It was near the Tempo restaurant, too. Very eerie and tragic. My heart goes out to the family

I found myself in a very similar situation a few years back. I lost the group of friends I went out with. It was 2AM & my phone had died… my friend also had my wallet because I didn’t bring my handbag.
I never thought that I would ever resort to hitchhiking but that’s what I did.
I’m so heartbroken for this beautiful girl and her family. She had her entire life ahead of her. 😭 RIP Hannah

This is a sad one. Hannah’s family are lovely. It made me sad when her Dad made that statement and all he talked about was how grateful he was for the community's help. They are lovely people and it shouldn't have happened to them but sadly it does happen.

As others have said, 100% sick of hearing violent criminals' sob stories. It was everyone's fault but theirs. That's what criminals do - they lie and accuse others for their actions. Victim's family is forever tied to their child's murderer, as, no doubt, he will be working the system and applying for pleas and retrials. A lovely life was lost, and we're all left with worst of humanity, and so everything continues to be just a little worse for everyone.

Accept reality. The crime problem in America is a culture problem
And I'm 100% sick of people misinterpreting the reason for pointing out an offenders background. It's not about blame or making excuses, it's about understanding. MANY, not ALL, killers have experienced some form of trauma in their childhood. Do we ignore that? Should we only address the symptoms and not the illness? Should we just give up on trying to prevent these people from making these types of choices through understanding what led them to make said choices? Do you care? Have you ever even wondered?
Take your emotions out of the equation. Prevention is much more appealing than punishment.. or at least it should be.
This doesn't change what was already done. Of course he deserves punishment, which he received (not harsh enough in my opinion), but what we should also be doing is finding ways to intervene BEFORE the crime was committed. Whether that be more focus on children who've experienced trauma, more attention on every child's environment, or something else. Will we prevent all violent crimes? Obviously not, but even if it helps prevent just one loss of life, I'd say it's worth it.. do you not agree?

I’ve lived in Charlottesville for over 30yrs. Lived through both Hannah’s and Morgan’s disappearances and murders; both heartbreaking cases. 💔
It was a very scary time especially for young women/girls in the area. My own daughter was a student at UVA from 2011-2015. I was terrified for her safety.
I remember the day that over a thousand C’ville residents searched for Hannah. Both my daughter and my sister participated (I had to work that day or I would have been there as well).
It was also terrifying when we learned who the murderer was and that he had lived and worked and gone about his daily life and activities (even volunteering as assistant football coach at a local school!) undetected and among us for so many years!
I was so relieved when he was sentenced to life in prison with NO CHANCE of parole.
Thank you to the Graham and Harrington families for holding firm and rejecting that first plea deal! They no doubt have saved the lives of even MORE young women with their actions and insistence on justice for Hannah and Morgan!
I also am very critical of and assign blame to BOTH Liberty University AND Christopher Newport College! Both schools allowed him to get away with NO ACCOUNTABILITY for the SA’s he perpetrated on fellow students there. They allowed him to leave quietly instead of reporting his SA’s to police!! BOTH of those schools bear some responsibility for the deaths of Hannah and Morgan, imo!
IF Liberty U & Christopher Newport had ACTED RESPONSIBLY and reported him to police, he probably would have already been incarcerated and not walking around freely to assault AT LEAST 3 more women (that we know of/probably even more!) and to murder 2 of them!
SHAME ON LIBERTY UNIV & CHRISTOPHER NEWPORT COLLEGE for their irresponsible and immoral handling of this now convicted murderer, whose name is not worth mentioning. 😓

If there's one thing I've learned from watching so many true crime videos, it's that there are *always* predatory creeps lurking out there, waiting for their next victim. By that I mean, at any given time, there is almost certainly a monster actively hunting.

The movie 'Promising young women' was about a woman that went out each weekend and pretended to be very drunk, like obliterated drunk, to draw out those predators you speak of. It was great, they assured her they were just making sure she got home safe and then would settle her in or have some kiss time, then they'd start abusing her when she passed out. Then she'd become very much awake and sober and as you can imagine it got Cray Cray real quick. Gutsy women, if it was a real life gig you'd want some serious self defence, gun, weapon skills

I was R**** by a close family member for over almost a year when I was 8 yrs old. I did not go on to do the same when I grew up because it happened to me. I hate it when that argument is used because I feel that should make it more of a reason for them not to do it. Because it happened to them and they know how it made them feel.
I believe people that do heinous things like this would go on to do this regardless of whatever kind of upbringing they had. I just do not believe that having had that done to you makes you more likely to go on and do it yourself. But that’s just my opinion others obviously believe differently.

Not everyone is working with the same coping skills and brain chemistry. Upbringing has lots to do with it. Upbringing is exactly why he has zero empathy for his victims and their families and how he was able to do this.
My heart goes out to you, sending you a big hug. However, just because you reacted a certain way to abuse does not mean someone else will, their circumstances will have been different. They will have a different personality to you, different parents, different peer group, different siblings, possibly a different cultural background set against different legislation if raised in a different country to you, they will internalise and interpret information & events differently to you hence their response may well differ, and they will be genetically different to you and have gone through a different socialisation process. It is important to recognise the complexities of a human being. That said, his background may explain INFLUENCES on his behaviours but not for a nano second does it ever justify his behaviours primarily because we all have freewill and therefore he made personal choices that led to his horrific behaviours.
I’m sorry that happened to you and I’m proud of you for breaking the curse but that’s YOUR STORY! Life is not one size fits all. What happened to you does not set the blueprint for others

If the killer is with you they most likely can get to you any time of the day, night drinking or not. It's just a good tip to follow if you're gonna be out and about at night.

I learned from therapy that your trauma is not your fault, but it IS your responsibility. It is up to each of us to seek help and healing for the hurt we have in beside. Our past shapes who we are, for better or worse, but we still have agency, we still autonomy, and we still have the ability to choose how we behave. Trauma is a tragedy, but it is never an excuse to hurt others.

I hate when people use their trauma as justification to hurt people. I've been traumatized so many times I lost count of all the horrible things that have happened to me. But to want to watch the life leave someone's eyes....that's not because of trauma. It's not human. It's just a straight up monster.

Now that they are older, I talk to my daughters about safety topics like being situationally aware at all times. I also speak to them about always traveling with their friends and never letting each other leave alone. The willingness to split up makes many of the people in these videos a much easier victim.
I’d prefer to hear about the lives of the young women he defiled than his childhood.

In cases like this why do the state agree to a plea deal if they have such conclusive evidence against someone ? Surely they didn't even need a confession and could seek the death penalty.
Because they also let the family have a say in it because of the stress and horror of having to listen in detail through a trial about what happened to their loved ones. Having to listen to how your daughter was snatched before having her clothing torn off so some pos could then violate her body before bashing her face to a pulp to kill her I couldn't imagine. It's bad enough knowing she was murdered but I'm sure they would rather not spend a week or more hearing the details.

There is never closure for familes who suffer these crimes. There is just an acceptance that their loved one is gone & they will never see hear or hold them again. The pain will never go away until their own deaths. I would just like to wish both familes of the bereaved girls peace.

Have a lot of friends and some family that went to UVA and we all remember how terrifying this was for Hannah’s family and the surrounding community of Charlottesville. I was just starting my junior year at neighboring JMU and I remember the feeling of uneasiness around campus since Harrisonburg is only 45 min away. RIP to the victims, I hope you all have found peace.
Why is it that when people go out with friends for drinks attend and event with “friends “ and yet not a single friend get it in their minds to move as a unit ALWAYS. Regardless of how close or how far we maybe from our residences.

I never realized the detail in your videos until I watched this video. I lived in Charlottesville during the time, and know the area well. So much of the quick couple-second clips isn't just stock footage to fill time, it's actual video of the sites & people involved in this case.

I have never understood blaming past abuse for someone wanting to cause abuse. My mother was horrifically abused in every way, She grew up determined to prevent it from happening to others. She knew how it felt. She never wanted anyone to feel the way she felt while being abused. She created a wonderful childhood for me despite the complete lack of a childhood for her. She became a Special Ed & English as a Second Language Early Childhood teacher. This way she felt she could keep an eye out for the most vulnerable.
