This epic match can be summarized in a few words:
Sinner has one weapon, his baseline game, which is currently the deadliest in the game.
Alcaraz has several weapons, not necessarily the deadliest, but which he can rely on and deploy at will.
When Sinner couldn't hurt Alcaraz with his deadliest weapon anymore, he was lost. Alcaraz deployed all his weapons at will without fear and won the match. As simple as that.
Sinner needs to work on a few other weapons.

As much as i was rooting for Sinner, Alcaraz thoroughly deserves this one. He showed greater adaptability, held his nerve slightly better, and came up with some genius shots.
As for Sinner, his baseline game is enough to beat everyone else on tour. But he needs to incorporate some variety and improve his return of serve : The last game, he had three chances all from the deuce court and messed
all of them up, by going too big, or not reading Alcaraz's serve.

For those who saw the full match, for almost a set and half, it seemed like Sinner was going to run away with the match.
Eerily similar to Djokovic vs. Federer matchup. Where the Djoker suffocates Fed. at the baseline, incessantly targeting his backhand, causing Fed. to go ultra-agressive and hence creating a slew of unforced errors.
But this is where i think Carlos has already established himself as an all-time great, not statistics wise, but supreme adaptability. He gradually turned the screws on Sinner, he became Djokovic-like, drawing Jannik into long rallies, and he was the one extracting errors, as the Italian went too big at times trying to get past the Alcaraz wall.
Basically, Sinner buckled under the extreme pressure... he had his chances, though.

First 3 Sets Sinner was superior. First Set Alcaraz didn't even saw the ball. Sinner got medical attentions during the breaks of the match before disappearing against a fresher Alcaraz. You have to watch the game instead of speaking non sense

@@PeterParker-tj4ss I don't give a shit how the game went... Repeat again... "You can't talk with your mouth full, because you'll choke." In other words, before saying shit like that, you have to play the games and win them... And not anticipate what's going to happen, or say it with predictions, statistics, and shit like that... When you win, say what you want, but in the meantime, keep quiet and play... 🤫🎾 😉😎👍

@@PeterParker-tj4ss First three sets... he lost the second set by 2 breaks? His first set was great, but Alcaraz played poorly on that one too, so that's not a great indicative. And let's be real, in the third they both struggled and had cramps. Sinner showed a lot of mental toughness and won that one, but they were both pretty fucked. Fourth & fifth Alcaraz showed not only mental toughness but endurance. So, he was really only better in one set, while in the third he was tougher mentally. Great match, but Alcaraz was the clear winner here. No need to make excuses, today he just wasn't the better player. He'll come back stronger...

I would say that half of us got the result right, and almost all of us got the 5 sets right.
On clay, with a crowd against, with physical problems for 5 sets (the same ones that led him to his previous only 2 losses of the season - kudos to the physical therapist who helped him several times during the match), Sinner managed to play a fantastic match against a great Alcaraz. How boring are you in the comments talking about Sinner not deserving the top ranking? Djoko would not have beaten Dimitrov either. Today Sinner and Alcaraz proved once again that another era has dawned.

50 years of watching tennis. This match was in the top 20. I've actually tallied a list of what I think are the best (I have a list of 150 matches), with best = high quality play + drama.
After looking at the list, I think these are the ones that were better:
2022 US Open Quarterfinal (Alcaraz / Sinner)
      2019 Wimbledon Final
2015 Wimbledon Semifinal (Federer / Murray)
      2014 Wimbledon Final

      2009 Wimbledon Final
      2008 Wimbledon Final
2005 Australian Open Semifinal (Federer / Safin)
      2004 French Open Final
2003 Australian Open Semifinal (Roddick vs can't read my handwriting!)
2000 Wimbledon Semifinal (Agassi / Rafter)
      1998 Wimbledon Final
      1988 Australian Open Final
      1982 Wimbledon Final
      1980 Wimbledon Final
      1972 Wimbledon Final
