Because he dug a grave and had a plan on how to murdered someone? That's "just" premaditated murder. Plus the police found out that there were two sets of prints, which debunked his whole story, so he *literally* didn't cover his tracks xD Plus he could have googled how to disguise a burial site at friend's house, or at the house of one of his "dates".
I see variant of this comment on almost every video when murderer was caught. Serial killers are a small fraction of murderers (who themselves are small friction of criminals). Most people who killed someone are caught after their first kill. The lack of motive of this piece of garbage was pretty strange, but he wasn't even a person of interest, yet alone a suspect in any other missing person''s investigations.

I can see the thoughtful gesture, however, it also gives away the ending of the story. I had never heard of this crime before, and judging from the thumbnail, I almost thought Katie was an axe murderer. It certainly suggests that. An axe, a pic of Katie, and the title “the diabolical case of Katie Kenyon.” Makes her appear to be a diabolical killer possibly… Then i started watching and the A.I. voice immediately says “before we begin, we send our deepest condolences to the family of Katie,” oh… guess we know she died now. Lol. Do I even need to watch now? 🤔 I’m not trying to sensationalize a tragic true story; but why not leave a little to the imagination? Leave your condolences at THE END! Because like I said, the thumbnail is semi-misleading, yet then within the first minute, they just give i away what happens!! By sending condolences!

Do you appreciate the way they show photos of the evil murderer, created with a beautification app, so he looks like a 30 yr old model?? This is subliminal brainwashing, in this case, to make all men seem more dangerous.... Honestly, this guy's look kept plenty of women far away. The desperation in that haircut, and the insomnia in his eye bags. It's obvious to me, there is a lot of angst in this man. So, if he presents himself as happy and healthy, run fast, and run far. ... Now go look at that profile pic they show several times. They could have said, he made it, and framed it as part of his diabolical scheming.... but they didn't say a word, just used it.

This is a case from the UK and we don't have the death penalty. Life here usually means 25yrs not life, unless the judge or Home Secretary decides that the killer deserves an especially long term. I think there are a handful of people serving what we call 'a whole life term' which means that there is no end date to the sentence but these are usually reserved for terrorists and serial killers.
The judge clearly decided in this case that he deserved 32 yrs as his crime was particularly gruesome.

He'll be at least 82 when he first becomes eligible for parole. I hope he lives long enough to be denied parole at least once.
