- Laura Wallen was a 31-year-old teacher of Social Studies at Wilde Lake High School in Columbia, Maryland. She loved her job and her students. She had even been named “Teacher of the year” in 2016. The new school year was about to start, and Laura had been so excited about it. She’d even decorated her classroom for the upcoming first day.
So, on September 5, 2017, it made no sense for her not to show up for the first day of school. When the school called her family and told them she hadn’t shown up for work, they knew this wasn’t like Laura, and they grew concerned. The family called local police and requested a welfare check for their daughter at her home address in Olney, MD. When the police arrived, nothing seemed out of the ordinary except that Laura and her vehicle were gone.
The report from the police didn’t ease the family’s concern over their daughter’s disappearance.

Ms. Wallen was my teacher a year before this happened. She was truly more than a teacher, one of the best I had. She was such a beautiful soul that went above and beyond for all students, not just those in her classes. The impact she had on me is something I still think about to this day ❤

She was legit that white teacher in the inner city schools making a difference, and this piece of garbage took away someone who was changing lives. Not to mention his own unborn son, then lied about her cheating and it being another man's baby. I can't hold back my disgust. Why do the people who are making a difference get treated like sht, and then their killers live until they're old or take the easy way out. Same thing with pedos. Karma doesn't fcking exist. They assault children for decades then take the easy way out when they're about to face their punishment. Or worse, they live a full life and die of natural causes, in jail or not. It's way too common.

She was also my history teacher and she taught cheer after school. Let me tell you, her class was my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE. She was so kind and she even helped us learn back flips for the school pep rally. She made life SO fun at school and when I heard this case about 5-6 years later I couldn’t believe it

That got me too. I watch true crime on the daily but when I see something like that for some reason it gets me. I guess because it illustrates how much she was making a difference/ how nice she was. There are definitely a few teachers I've had in my time that quite frankly I would have been happy if those guys went missing. I certainly wouldn't have started a campaign to find them, so I think that says a lot. One guy I had burned me and my friend with boiling water in chemistry class (we don't know if it was on purpose or not, he acted like it was an accident but it was really a case of how could you possibly make that mistake kind of thing), and another literally gave kids detention if they came in a fraction of a second after the bell was ringing. He would legit stand at the doorway and the split second the bell rung he would spread his arms out and block the door so no one could enter the class and give them detention. My friend was dealing with her first period (and I ain't talking about period in terms of a class block) she was 30 seconds late to class and he gave her detention. Didnt care about her explanation. I hope there's a special place in hell for selfish uncaring scrooges like him. The bell would still be ringing and he would count you as late if you werent in BEFORE the bell, it was counted as late on your record. Fcking POS. Dude ate alone in his classroom at lunch, even the other teachers didn't like him.

Kudos to the young man who organized the group of students helping canvass for her. You can tell what a great teacher she was by how her students were so active in trying to help the search effort. RIP to someone who seemed like a wonderful person

Good teachers aren't so rare. They're underpaid, accused of all sorts of total nonsense by culture warriors - and yet they still knock their pan in because they care about their kids. There are very definitely dodgy teachers out there. But I think they're the rare ones. Certainly all my kid's teachers seem great.
Most teachers are good, or at least just neutral. Don't do them like that my guy. Teachers are paid like crap and deal with a very hard stressful job a lot of the time. I went to 12 schools, there are only 3 bad teachers in my whole life I could really say were bad, the other 60+ were fine. (because you get multiple teachers in highschool). They are treated like crap and paid like crap a lot of the time.

Her students desperately searching for her broke my heart. What incredible kids, they made all the difference. They provided pressure needed to not let it go cold, to push to keep looking. Those poor babies now have that loss and trauma for the rest of their lives. I hope they all know how wonderful they are.

"Crying" without tears is the biggest giveaway in most of these cases where the "grieving" partner appeals for the person to come home. The very fact that he gave several outlandish and conflicting stories, is in itself, pretty much an admission of involvement at best, and guilt at worst.

It wasn't a multiple days long trip, it was a few hours he said he was taking her to look at properties. That's it, that's a perfectly normal thing for couples to do. She couldn't have suspected something just from that, especially when he's taking pictures of her and actively texting people right before, who would ever suspect someone would be that stupid? How any man can murder the woman he is supposed to love who is four months pregnant with his child is beyond me. My heart goes out to her parents and family, her friends and students. In the police interview where he’s talking to the public…that should tell them everything. He’s trying so hard to cry, he was uncomfortable & his story kept changing on each interview. Laura was so superior to the evil bf in every way - looks, intelligence, personality, and character. Her parents obviously raised her to be the caring, strong, and devoted person and teacher she was. Her students really got to me the way they reacted to her disappearance and death. Their wonderful words for her said so much about both her and the former students. They were awesome.

Ladies, if your relationship is a constant on/off again thing, DO NOT allow yourself to become pregnant, or at least do everything you can to prevent pregnancy! Take the pill, get the shot, get the implant, or get an iud AND use condoms every single time!

Just before this twisted love triangle started, a friend of ours worked with him and had a brief relationship with him. He actually helped her, I believe, by boarding some of her cattle. She was floored when all this unfolded

Teachers like her are so extremely important and I don’t think we praise people like her enough. She deserved worlds better than what happened to her.

Her students talking about how much she meant to them really touched me. Laura sounds like such an amazing human. She was taken by a coward, it’s absolutely infuriating! My sympathy to Laura’s family , friends and students. May she and her baby rest in peace.
Seeing her students were out there looking for her, praying for her and being emotional shows what kind of woman Laura was. As kids, we don't really value teachers as much We may complain about homework and assignments but you can tell this isn't the case with Laura. She had a special positive impact on her students. I know for a fact she would've been a fantastic mother and it's heartbreaking to know she never had the chance to experience motherhood and develop a special bond with her baby.
That was the oddest press conference - -his reactions and actions were not what one would consider "normal".
If the husband/boyfriend runs to the media and spins a tale...GUILTY, almost every time.

Great video as always! ❤ I think that anyone (God there's so many) who thinks that murder will solve a problem should watch as many of these cases as possible to realize it's just not going to work. Even if it takes decades to compile enough evidence police could be around the corner at any second. The relief they think they will feel, as if there's some definitive point after not being arrested that they officially got away with it doesn't exist. And they won't know if they truly did or not until the minute they die. That's after a lifetime of living in a prison of their own mind. Probably so bad they wish they could just get arrested to get it over with. But relief won't come even in dying because now they have a whole new set of hellish problems to think about.
This is so true. I’ve thought about this many times. The amount of panic, anxiety, and fear they must live in out of fear of detection…you never really “get away” with heinous crimes like this.

Stop the way her students spoke about her brought me to tears.. when he said “if we were missing she’d be the first one out there” I think we’ve all had a special teacher like this before I remember mine her name was Kateri I think I’m spelling it wrong but I always wondered what happened to her she was so good to us students!
She made such a huge impact on so many of her students lives. She was a beautiful human being taken too soon. May she and baby rest in heaven ❤

He seems just so normal and harmless and even good- natured at first sight. I just can't get my head around how such a guy would cold-bloodedly kill the mother of his baby by shooting her in the back of her head. It makes me so sick. It horrifies me.
