That does not mean that you always must go with the flow, but whilst doing so, keep and eye on the compass and course. So with this wisdom in mind we leave seaport Blankenberge and head back to The Netherlands. The start of a new Journey.

This channel follows a format: "Join Henk-Jan, whilst he cruises with Lady Liselot through The Netherlands and a little further".
That's it. This automatically means: no boat tour and no boat jobs. These subjects do not fit the format. So, I aim to give you a feel for what life's like aboard for me and hope you enjoy it, perhaps relate to it or maybe even learn something. But it's simply my story and the way I do things. Waarom ik alles in het Engels doe?
Omdat ik video's kijk van Fransen, Denen, Noren, Spanjaarden, Portugezen, Duitsers én heel veel Engelstaligen die allemaal Engels lullen en ook bootjesmensen / liveaboards zijn. Want alleen dan kan je je ervaring wereldwijd delen. En wat blijkt? Mijn video's worden in 127 landen bekeken (zie S03/E01 voor de lijst). Veel van mijn kijkers en abonnees zijn Engelstaligen die mijn video's helemaal top vinden, omdat ze óf familie hebben uit Nederland, of hier jaren geleden zijn geboren en door omstandigheden nu elders op de wereld wonen. En, dat ik dan Engels spreek met een accentje (net als de Fransen, Denen, Noren, Spanjaarden, Portugezen, Duitsers overigens) dan interesseert hen dat geen reet.
Weet je dat Nederlandse ondertiteling aan kan zetten? Doorgaans zo'n 4 uur nadat de video is gepubliceerd. Klik op de video, en kies uit de iconen die rechtsonder verschijnen dan voor [ondertiteling] en kies daar voor Nederlands. Dan wordt zelfs mijn steenkolen Engels (knap he van die jongens en meisjes RUclips) vertaald naar Nederlandsch.

Leuke video weer, behoorlijk koud zo te zien. Overigens netjes gekeerd alleen op de camera's, blijft altijd enige spanning of je het goed hebt ingeschat of niet. 👍
Ja Norbert, Zoals ik in de video al zeg:: zolang ik de steiger op een haar na mis, is het mis. Maar ik had nog wel een metertje of 2 aan elke kant, hoor.
Dag Henk Jan, zoals gebruikelijk heb ik weer van jouw video genoten ! Geen kritiek hoor, maar jouw vorige video had hetzelfde nummer S4/E08. Maar het kijkplezier was er niet minder door !! Tot de volgende.
Op miraculeuze wijze blijkt dit ineens E09 te zijn geworden. Een mooi bewijs dat de wonderen de wereld nog niet uit zijn.

Always enjoying your navigation adventures here from San Francisco. What trawler model is Lady Liselot?
She is a 1980 49ft Blue Ocean Trawler.
Build in Lien Hwa Boat Yard (established in 1978).
Lien Hwa Boat Yard builded boats for several OEM partners included Blue Ocean (Holland - power boats),
Little Harbor (US - sail boats), Marine Trader (US - power boats), Trade Winds (US - power boats),
Mckinna Yachts, Yanmar boats.
So Lady Liselot comes from the same factory as the US Marine Trader and they have many resemblance.
Even the interior looks quite the same like caninets and head.
Also the Perkins engines and the Onan Generator is not something which is common in The Netherlands, but is typical for the Marine Trader brand.
Interesting video of leaving port at high tide. Nice to see the tight turn from jetty executed very nicely. Oh and the commentary is as always, excellent.

Hello Henk-Jan. I have now binge watched all your videos and I thank you very much. You have so far visited many of the places I went to in the few years I spent on my boat NORSELA in your beautiful country. It has also been a real pleasure to watch someone who knows how to handle a boat. My boat just had one engine and NO thrusters but I always managed. You said several times that you might go South to the Med. I always went North to the Baltic and loved it. I did both the East and West coasts. They are very different but both with interesting places to visit. Unfortunately it was before RUclips and fancy cameras so most of my memories still photos. Once again "Thanks" and regards Michael

The plans are to bound for the Baltic this Summer. Some subscribers (and now you) showed me pictures and videos of the beautiful surroundings of the Baltic, so I must go. Ofcourse the camera's will join me on that trip. I guess that the way I share my journey's I will gather enough footage until mid 2025.
When I went to the Channel Islands in 1999 with my cutter, I shot 20 slide films of 36 images each. I still have almost all pictures.

Ter info, om Zeebrugge te kruisen is het niet nodig van toelating te vragen. Vandaar het ongeïnteresseerde antwoord.
Tja, bij Terneuzen gaan ze door het lint als je je niet meldt, bij Zeebrugge krijg je het gevoel dat je ze stoort. Havendienst Vlissingen heeft ook zoiets van "Joh, ik vind het allemaal prima". Waar moet het wél en waar niet? Dan ga ik maar voor zekerheid, nietwaar?
@@MVLadyLiselot Waar wel en niet staat beschreven in de regelgeving, en men gaat ervan uit dat je die kent. Wat eerlijk gezegd voor een hobbyist niet eenvoudig is om dat in je vrije tijd allemaal bij te houden. Zeebrugge binnen varen is trouwens wel verplicht melden, wat evengoed op niet veel enthousiasme zal kunnen rekenen. Tot je het niet doet omdat je denkt dat het hen niet interesseert...

En regelgeving meldt bij wlke punten wel te melden, en waar niet? Als in BPR? Bij blokkanalen weet ik dat, maar vanaf zee zoals hier? Graag meer info.
@@MVLadyLiselot In theorie idd in het BIPT, of andere regelgeving van toepassing voor het betreffende vaarwater (zoals het Politiereglement van de
Beneden-Zeeschelde). In theorie, omdat er geen enkele Belgische haven is die je moet oproepen om de ingang te kruisen ;-) Voor Frankrijk vind je wel instructies terug voor bvb Antifer of Le Have.

Thanks for sharing the extensive VHF communication with both traffic controls and other ships. Clearly you have a vast experience doing so, I learn a lot from you 👍 In Denmark we do have TSS's, but it is not common for leisure boats to have extensive radio communication with the traffic centers (.....unless violating the rules 😅). Super seamanship Henk-Jan 👍
I am planning to come over this summer to Denmark, Sweden and perhaps Norway. On every TSS spot I will report as if I am one of the guys. Safety first.
Watch ya Capitano. Something I heard on another channel was the idea of always running the engines so they didn't have the same hours on them. The theory being you need only to service one engine at a time. Running them with 100/200 hours difference between them allows this. I know you swap from port to starboard engines but are you running the with similar hours which would mean servicing both at the same time?🤔
Yep. And the difference on my trips is only a couple of hours, so 'the girls' do not feel neglected.

Ah is it a sixpence? Or a dime as I use. I understood the money expression is from the fact the a coin was laid under the mast for good luck and then she turn on that point.

Really enjoyed the video. It's also very helpful as I plan to take my 29ft yacht to Breskens or Vlissingen from the Medway in June and then on to the 'mast up' route, possibly, to Amsterdam.

10:35 Belgium and Holland closest to eachother at the Westerschelde??? Nonsense! The land to the south of the Westerschelde is Zeeuws-Vlaanderen and to the north is Walcheren. Both are Nederland! Breskens and Vlissingen.

@@jaapbruijn1300 Ach Jaap, ik zei in een van mijn vlogs van deze zomer dat Ooltgensplaat in Zeeland lag. De politie moest er aan te pas komen om hordes mensen tegen te houden die me na die uitspraak van Goeree wilden verjagen. Blijkt het in Zuid-Holland te liggen.
