This channel follows a format: "Join Henk-Jan, whilst he cruises with Lady Liselot".
That's it. This automatically means: no boat tour and no boat jobs. These subjects do not fit the format. So, I aim to give you a feel for what life's like aboard for me and hope you enjoy it, perhaps relate to it or maybe even learn something. But it's simply my story and the way I do things. Nothing more, nothing less.

Waarom ik alles in het Engels doe?
Omdat ik video's kijk van Fransen, Denen, Noren, Spanjaarden, Portugezen, Duitsers én heel veel Engelstaligen die allemaal Engels lullen en ook bootjesmensen / liveaboards zijn. Want alleen dan kan je je ervaring wereldwijd delen. En wat blijkt? Mijn video's worden in 127 landen bekeken (zie S03/E01 voor de lijst). Veel van mijn kijkers en abonnees zijn Engelstaligen die mijn video's helemaal top vinden, omdat ze óf familie hebben uit Nederland, of hier jaren geleden zijn geboren en door omstandigheden nu elders op de wereld wonen. En, dat ik dan Engels spreek met een accentje (net als de Fransen, Denen, Noren, Spanjaarden, Portugezen, Duitsers overigens) dan interesseert hen dat geen reet.
Enige tijd geleden meerde ik af bij een andere boot in de sluizen en toen ik deze schipper naar zijn bestemming vroeg, zei hij: "Tholen". Ik was op weg naar een andere bestemming, maar ik herinnerde me dat ik nieuwsgierig werd naar dit dorp, dus ga met me mee op mijn winderige reis.
Weet je dat Nederlandse ondertiteling aan kan zetten? Doorgaans zo'n 4 uur nadat de video is gepubliceerd. Klik op de video, en kies uit de iconen die rechtsonder verschijnen dan voor [ondertiteling] en kies daar voor Nederlands. Dan wordt zelfs mijn steenkolen Engels (knap he van die jongens en meisjes RUclips) vertaald naar Nederlandsch.

Hey, Dan, Yes @andy_nye is the guy for DCG who kept an eye on me the moment I was in the Traffic Zone and made the Securité call. Via a 'relay' of a seagoing vessel he managed to keep updated, cause my VHF antenna was only 7.1m heigh and the distance to much to pick up the signal (in those moments it would be nice if the earth was flat). Well, as I said: only the ones who sail at sea or the ocean use knts. The rest of skippers who drive their boats on the rivers and canals of Europe, use km's.

Just joined your video series. Greetings from Victoria Canada! Our parents immigrated from the NL in the 50’s, so I’m loving hearing your expressions. I run a Carver 53, with dual screws. I see you only use 1 engine while underway, as that doesn’t really help me a lot with fuel economy (I normally cruise @ 9-11 kts), and you have to offset your rudders to compensate for it pushing you in a circular direction. So, can you help me understand why you enjoy 1 engine cruising? Bedankt!
Hey Robert, welcome to this channel. Many of my followers have family who come from The Netherlands, and like to see where they are from. So sit back and relax. Adding a 2nd engine cost 100% fuel burn (at least 10-15liter in a non-current water way @ € 1.85/liter as I write this) per hour extra, but only giving 25% more speed. So the calculation is simple. I only use two engines for maneuvering near bridges and in port. I run them separately to keep the running hours in balance. The compensation is only 2-3%.
Great answer. I burn about 37.5 L/hr both sides (Cummins 450s) when I run both. This summer I'll give it some thought ( I have pressurized shaft seals, so it may not work as well)

I am from an age that I remember growing up with this real vacuum cleaner, So because of its shape I can image why it's called that way.

Hallo Henk, kan je uitleggen wat je met je koffie nam? At 9:40 het mergpijpkje. Ik vraag me af hoe jij dat beschrijft.
Ik noem het gewoon "a mergpijp coockie". Je zult het in menige video tegenkomen.

Yes. People from Denmark brought me some sweets like my famous "mergpijp-cookies" and I really liked them. "Vacuum Cleaner" fits the shape for sure (At least when you are my age)
Hi Henk-Jan, I have to correct your pronunciation; a yeti is thought to be a Himalayan mythical beast but a "Jetty" is where one might moor. "Jetty" is pronounced with the "j" sounding like there's a "dj" infront of the "etty" ie think of it as "djettie". I couldn't find the yeti pushing you off the mooring? Like your vlogs, keep cruising!
Allright, allright, I will try to keep all this in mind. Peoplle call me "Eightz-Djay", so djetty would be logic. Never thought about it, and there are not a lot of marine-pronunciation-courses (that I am aware of). BUT... since I have a lot of footage still not published, you will still hear me make these foreign accent pronunciation mistakes. Thank you for the info, Joseph.
