Andy Mac is an excellent teacher, awesome musician and full of soul. He shows us the power and passion of these controllers by Akai. I recently purchased the MPC Studio and I am not looking back. The MPC studio is so powerful and allows one to create passionate music in any genre. What better way to start your songs with inspiration and set the stage for further processing with the DAW of your choice and then take it for final mastering. Simply put, the MPC Studio saves you the time of organizing your ideas in a DAW and launches you up to full blown sequences full of musical inspiration. It will take work, dedication and persistancy to learn this system but it is well worth it and what better way to learn but with the masterclasses provided to us by Andy on the Akai website. Oh, shoutouts to the man Ave McRee, Musician Paradise, SampleKings and my boy X.E.L. Ohhhh!
Now that looks like a product for me, as not a musician, but enjoy messing around inside studio one with atom, this looks like a whole new level of ease and fun. As it is cheaper than MPC One and I am always tied to computer anyway, so seems like a no brainer present to myself at Christmas! The video is nice and in depth enough to encourage someone like me to go get it.
This is a God Send! I'm in I purchased the Hardware MPC XL 2000 back in the day. It sat in the studio for a whole year before put into use. Now it's 2022 and Hardware & Software are working seamlessly together. This video opened my mind to another creative level. I just ordered the MPC Studio today. I should have it tomorrow. This was the final piece I needed to complete the Production Side of my song process. Christmas came three months early for me! My new album Brand Season 3 will be dropping before the year is out stay tuned! #johngreasy #ggmg #brandseasonvol3 #jiiibeats #wegone
The controller is nice. Definitely for somebody who want to jump into the AKAI universe. Not recommended for users who have Live or X due to the new layout, no physical Q link dials and small screen. All in all good full detail tutorial on the device and software tips. Salute Andy.

I can't get this to run at all after updating to Windows 11, I didn't think this thing would be so complicated that it doesn't activate while inside it's own software. I had the live 2 and got this for my brother and got it to work once on my PC and after the jump it refuses to install it's own update, always ends prematurely with no results. His PC is good cause he only ever had this but for me double dipping I can't get it to work and I've completely uninstalled everything and reinstalled and nothing
This is very interesting, I am a diehard akai user….I just got mine yesterday and I’ve been feeling stagnant so maybe this “new workflow” might refresh my view on production

This is sweet. I had the original Studio, and it was so closely modeled after standalone models, which was cool. But this new model makes so much more sense as an MPC software controller. I might be tempted to cop one for the touch strip alone
I got and I love it but it will not work without the software running which you cannot run it as a midi controller in your daw without the software which could be fixed by a firmware to unlock the unit other than that the beat repeat is software but minor gripe 3/5 but 5/5 if they make this semi standalone with major daws
I loved this tutorial thanks mate, mine is arriving in a couple of days can’t wait to make beats. It’s the first Akai I’ll be owning as a future Hip Hop producer I hope I’ll be making bangers.✌️
This was awesome Andy, thanks for taking the time to put this master class together which I imagine must have been quite fun :) I just need to wrap my head around the pad mute thing as it's quite new to me... coming from a Logic Pro dynamics of linear editing/ arrangement I find that having to memorize what's in each pad during that process quite challenging, but it's also a very interesting and hands on approach. I wrote full pop song using only my MPC Studio and learnt a lot during the process, which is why I'm considering buying the MPC One Plus, but making music without a DAW also gives me the fear of having to dive into the sub-menu of the sub-menu of the menu of the sub-menu... let's see :)
Hi, I am trying to follow the masterclass with the project file, but nothing is recorded in the sequence when pressing any pads. The sound is heard, the metronome ticks, but nothing in the sequence is recorded. I can draw notes in the sequence and when I start a new project, everything works, but not with the project file. Any idea? Thanks and best, Arjen
As they mentioned in another comment: "Make sure the track you're currently using is record enabled by clicking the circle (it will be red when armed)." It was off by default.
I’ve been a One user and let me say, the studio 2 is fun as shit. Nothing beats it for speed the only time you need a mouse and screen is when loading samples and naming things and that is 100x better than menu diving on a stand-alone unit.
I love the Master Class, However, when I try to load the *.xpj project files into MPC 2 software, it fails to load because it is missing the following plugins: Hype and Odessey

It's not a bad idea to go with the Studio controller and software as it is a very modern workflow for producers of many genres. The controller itself is a bit limited probably because Akai wanted it to stay within the low price range but all in all it definitely worth to try. Just learn how to operate software with mouse first - learn where and what you can do and then connect controller to speed up the workflow and use pads for performances.
Honestly its easier to understand if you came from standalone when at least comes to advanced features I use mpc x and bought for portability and to help learn software more if i didn't have X as a newbie I think it would've been difficult to know of advanced features chopping sample tuning assigning lfos and etc most demos I see people use to make basic patterns
@@boutstaxx I come from Live II to Studio mk2 and while you can do everything on standalone MPC, here on Studio mk2 a lot of things you can't do. Changing bar length? Changing note length? Selecting note? Navigating in sequence? Changing bar in sequence? All of these are bugs. And the funny thing is that attaching any 3rd party midi controller, you can go to Global Midi and assign Sequence Current Bar to fader or knob. So it is in the software, just Studio mk2 has bug in firmware because it is not mapped to any of plethora locator buttons (or pad banks, or digital dial, or touchstrip). This completely kills the creative workflow you have with any other MPC, just not Studio. I want MPC workflow, not mouse. MPC Software should have added only possibility to use external plugins, but the workflow should be the same. No touching mouse. The only exception would be typing a track name on a keyboard. Other vendors, such as Presonus and their ATOM (and ATOM SQ) or NI Maschine can do this stuff. MPC standalone also can do it. So I was a bit surprised that half of the work I need to fix by mouse with Studio mk2. Already wrote on MPC Forums, no answer. Wrote on AKAI, no answer. Filling RMA with distributor now. BTW: You even cannot change number of bars or current bar by mousewheel. You need to hold down left mouse button on +- field and move the mouse vertically. It is very difficult and painful after several hours with mouse to change bar length by 1. The precision is bad. Makes your arm tired and it is not healthy. Even the UI is not made for this. Other DAW can at least adjust values by mousewheel. Here only hold+drag or typing keyboard.
@@cyberluke Some of the things u mentioned I think u can do on the mk2 but you’re right when it comes to editing the midi information u can’t it seems like u should be able to select notes and change length with the jog wheel one thing about the mk2 it’s going to make you learn the software like you have to go to the software menu to find things like track clear or copy hidden I’ll admit the touch strip was pretty cool I had one for about 2 months when I sold my X afterwards I sold that and got a live 2 so I understand your frustration
@@boutstaxx Yes, thank you. Imagine I work at computer 8-12 hours per day and then want to make music. I'm pretty sensitive at using mouse and I have been using FL Studio and Ableton for years, so I don't like clicking menu. People buy MPC to get that workflow. The workflow is very good. But it seems on modern MPC, the most of the workflow is happening thanks to the touchscreen. I am also a hardware maker. Touchstrip is now very popular everywhere, it is cheap (cost effective) solution. I don't have a specific issue with that and you can always map midimix knobs to q-links in software. But the way how they integrate the sequencer, a lot of people on MPCForums says that some basic stuff is missing and sequencer should get more love from Akai. The product is one year on the market and there has been no specific update for Studio mk2, only MPC 2.10.1 (the initial version with studio mk2 support). For example Presonus Atom SQ does not have touch screen display, but has that touchstrip as well, and you can change everything and edit anything like on standalone MPC. Even have 8 knobs. The workflow is different. I wish MPC Studio mk2 would be that product.
Anyone know if this has a midi mode to use just the controller in another daw? I’m aware of the VST function of the software, but was wondering if you can use the controller without the software
On that note, can you guys add the 2.10 update features (like synths, fx, fixed prog edit, etc) from the MPC line to the Force? Would help out a ton! Lol thx
@@IsshmanGarcia people said the same thing about the plug-ins in the MPC. it’ll still be a MPC, having that option would be great. You don’t have to use it if you don’t want too.
How do you program a 32 step sequence in step sequencer mode? It only allows 16 steps. All other MPCs allow it by hitting pad bank A b c d to toggle to the next step.
I've just got this because of the Touch Strip. This makes it better than MPC Touch or anything else that goes beyond using expansions and making beats. For real music production this is essential and I can't wait for a "Touch 2" with the Touch Strip.
How is it after 8 months? I just got it today I love everything except the small screen and the pads are not very sensitive even if I set it to Max in settings unlike Launchpad Pro Mk3 which more sensitive.
I would like to know the real difference between the Mpc Studio Black that Akai released in 2016 and the MPD26? & the LCD light on the new MPC studio is to small
@@jordanbrackeen4955 I figured it out if you haven't already. Take the "Masterclass.progression" file from the "MPC Studio Masterclass Assets" folder and move it to the native program progressions directory of "C:\ProgramData\Akai\MPC\Progressions" But unfortunately you will have to do this before starting or reload the program for it to work.
Is there any way I can either record directly into the Mpc sound files, or download them individually load them into pads so that they stay resident then the MP'C is switched off? I then want to take it to a gig, hit one pad and have the sound clip play. Is that possible? I can use Ableton to set the MPC up but don't want a computer on the stand.
So I can run this, and the MK3 25 keyboard at the same time without conflicts? What if I want to run this MPC and the MK3 and also use my MK3 to control my vocoder and harmonies on my Boss VA500? It uses either audio or midi for tracking harmonies and such. Also I assume I can control Ableton as well?
@@theejlogan Please I need help. How exactly did you do this? I've been trying for a week straight, have watched so many videos on how to work the Touch FX, and nothing seems to be working!! Please, someone, get back to me soon
Even though the lesson is very comprehensible, it seems that none of the notes I play on the pad are recorded. The sequence is running for sure and only when I click with my mouse on the tabs in the software notes chart I get a loop of the chords and eventually a beat. If there's a technical issue i'm missing i'd appericiate any help.
If someone can help me, when i switch to bank B nothings there and i have no clue how to add things to different banks it just says its there already and asks to replace it
Hi everybody. In Part 3 with the Plugins I have no sound when I press the button. Do I have to download a extra file? Only at Rhodes El Piano I have some noise.
I cannot find a section that would explain how to create a keygroup from a sample, so you can play it in a key as a melody. This is very simple on MPC standalone, but very difficult with Studio mk2.

question? when I go to record it does not lay down any of the beat waves or however it is called? the entire project stays blank when I try to record I should say. any way you could help?
Awesome tutorial! I just ordered my Akai MPC Studio II! I have a PreSonus audio interface. Can I have that plugged into my PC at the same time as I have the MPC Studio II plugged in? Can I then connect my synth and sample from my audio interface directly into the MPC? Will audio from the MPC be run through the audio interface or do I need to change something in the preference settings?
Is anyone else having trouble loading the Project files? I keep getting error messages. I signed for the iLok account, downloaded the files, but everytime I drag them to the MPC program it does not work. Appreciate any assistance.
So I just purchased my MPC Studio, however I can not use it because iLok will not install. It completely freezes my computer, requiring a cold shutdown. I've searched all over the internet and see loads of people having this same issue with no solution. Can I run the MPC software without iLok? This is very discouraging. Has anyone experienced this? Akai, any help?

It tells me my audio device doesnt work, and i dont know how to cange it, or repair it
So I can run this, and the MK3 25 keyboard at the same time without conflicts? What if I want to run this MPC and the MK3 and also use my MK3 to control my vocoder and harmonies on my Boss VA500? It uses either audio or midi for tracking harmonies and such. Also I assume I can control Ableton as well?
Amazing!!!thank you so much Andy needed this!!!you are very appreciated!!
does anyone know how to actually record the touch pad effects been trying alllllllll day to figureit out
I can't get my pads to record either
I found it.... On the far left of your software screen, locate the track box (it may say drums) arm it by pressing the round dot to the right of that.
@@theejlogan Nice, thanks! I was wandering if there is a button for that on the hardware itself... I couldn't find it
@@marcelocg I had this same issue, thanks!
Make sure the track you're currently using is record enabled by clicking the circle (it will be red when armed).
If someone can help me, when i switch to bank B nothings there and i have no clue how to add things to different banks it just says its there already and asks to replace it
2.10 broke the masterclass file making it so nothing is armed during the session
Hi everybody. In Part 3 with the Plugins I have no sound when I press the button. Do I have to download a extra file? Only at Rhodes El Piano I have some noise.
I cannot find a section that would explain how to create a keygroup from a sample, so you can play it in a key as a melody. This is very simple on MPC standalone, but very difficult with Studio mk2.
hi there,i downloaded project, but if it stop ,tempo is 96,but if i play it tempo is about 117,maybe i got setupet someting vrong?
Superb Andy !!!
How can I load a beat I made so I can edit the beat and add to it
Incredible !🔥
You never showed how to arm tracks for record on the the MPC studio mkii
Please how do you arm tracks for record on the MPC studio mkii?
No via software
Help !
Always when I open the MPC STUDIO 2 software in standalone the time is blocked at 120 bpm!
If I try to change the tempo, it accepts the changes but when I try to play or record something, the tempo forcibly freezes always at 120 bpm ..!
Can anyone help me ?
the link to download does not work. please repeat
So to properly follow along, I would need to buy the gold dust kit?
I like and appreciate this video of the master class very much thank you!
Loading the project files tells me Im missing plug ins. Why? How do I resolve?

Thank you for your time
Hope someone can help me with the next doubt:
Can I sample stuff from RUclips or Spotify using this MPC ?

maybe just me, idk why tho, worst money ive spent in a minute, maybe theire just going through maintenance.
Master class project is missing files. What can I do?
question? when I go to record it does not lay down any of the beat waves or however it is called? the entire project stays blank when I try to record I should say. any way you could help?
Make sure your track is armed (press the red circle).
files are corrupted or something. Will NOT load. Getting error
Is there any way to purchase a device that maps the q links?
Awesome tutorial! I just ordered my Akai MPC Studio II! I have a PreSonus audio interface. Can I have that plugged into my PC at the same time as I have the MPC Studio II plugged in? Can I then connect my synth and sample from my audio interface directly into the MPC? Will audio from the MPC be run through the audio interface or do I need to change something in the preference settings?
hi why isnt it working? i cant load the file into the mpc programme:(
Does anyone have the memo explaining why the word “using” has been replaced by “utilising”?
Is anyone else having trouble loading the Project files? I keep getting error messages. I signed for the iLok account, downloaded the files, but everytime I drag them to the MPC program it does not work. Appreciate any assistance.
I own the mpc x but I might just buy this
My tempo tap isn't working to change the BPM. When I hold it and use the data wheel, my temp isn't changing
Where is the video link?
So I just purchased my MPC Studio, however I can not use it because iLok will not install. It completely freezes my computer, requiring a cold shutdown. I've searched all over the internet and see loads of people having this same issue with no solution. Can I run the MPC software without iLok? This is very discouraging. Has anyone experienced this? Akai, any help?
Damn right I'm going to get me one too! this is sure nifty! going go get busy right now!
a cool feature that is missing imo is browsing for plugins on the controller
Oh wow, theres even an included pro-level MIDI chord pack! All I need to do is just drag and drop in my DAW!
Explain
@@SonicScholar Anyone can do amateur chords. You normally need to buy professional chords, but these are included FREE. Sarcasm not included.
MPC Beats project is missing plug in files. Can i access this if I am using windows 10?
this project is for MPC Software (Full version) not Beats. Beats doesn't include the new software instruments which is why your seeing errors. If you have the new MPC Studio, make sure you install the full 2.10 MPC Software.
I down loaded the file and it says content is missing
Just got mine today. First MPC been a daw user now keen af to learn this.
does your erase or deleting a pad work on your hardware?
Andy Mac Can Make anything sound good! When you're dope! You're Just DOPE!
Only found out this was a 'thing' yesterday afternoon, and mine's just been delivered.

What if I want to change chords I can see that’s hard not GarageBand more easy
I'm having a problem with my pad lights coming on 😊
