Great presentation and I mean the great presentation. I noticed on the comments when people had mentioned you can’t write to the point that is so important today. Going to check out the video you made on what food to eat to lower cholesterol. Please keep the videos coming and your research. Also I have to make you sound so confident in the information you’re giving and that definitely is important to viewers!!!! from Hawaii

Hello Doctor, are there any supplements to lower triglycerides? I am not able to lower this to normal level. I am taking statin and cholesterol is low to around normal but triglycerides are always little high.

    • @HealthyFamilyDoc

“A little high” is kind of hard to say, but generally:
      1) avoid highly refined carbohydrates, white bread/muffins/English muffins/crackers. The ones with a high glycemic index
      2) make sure you’re exercising
      3) try and get your weight in an optimal range
      4) increase your level of fish oils or EPA/DHA to ~1.5 to 2 grams
      5) make sure your levels were checked while truly fasting! We can do cholesterol labs without fasting, but to get a good read in triglycerides you should have a true 10-12 hrs fast
      6) if they are really high make sure you talk to your doctor about inherited conditions that cause high triglycerides

I disagree with your recommendation for Vitamin D3 of 1000iu. I have been taking 5,000 iu/day yet my bloodwork indicates only 46 ng/mL which is within normally prescribed area of 30-50 ng/mL. There is a rapidly growing concensus that is recommending blood levels of Vitamin D of 50-70 ng/mL. Anything above 100 ng/mL is approaching toxic levels (>125 ng/mL). Too many Americans are deficient in Vitamin D. One should ask their doctor for this test during their annual physical. Ever since I have been taking the 5,000 iu w/K2 MK7 I have never had anything more than a very mild fever/flu - even my Covid-19 symptoms were very mild (although we were fully vaccinated as well which helped)

Totally agree- the best way to do this is with a blood test to check your level before/during supplementation. If that’s not possible 1-2,000/day should be reasonable. I personally have seen patients have toxic high levels of Vitamin D so monitoring is helpful!
