My grandparents live in Ikaria island in Greece, a place characterized as a blue zone. They're 105 and 108 years old, respectively, no health problems, perfect memory, don't wear eye glasses, no mobility issues. They basically eat meat (especially lamb), indigenous fruits, greek honey, yogurt, eggs, olive oil, tomatoes and some vegetable but not too much, drink coffee, a little bit of red wine occasionally. They wake up early in the morning, go to sleep around 22: 00 and they never eat after 19: 00. They also walk a lot.

No it is not different for everyone. We are all of the same species. Homo sapiens. We are designed to be carnivores. You do not get to choose what is good for you to eat. Your body is designed by the adaptational means in which the stressors superimposed onto the body.
      This is not rocket science.
Processed foods slowly kills you by cellular damage.
Grains slowly kill you by cellular damage.
Plants, slowly kill you by cellular damage.
Fruits slowly kill you by cellular damage.
These all do damage on the body. This is well known.

He is doing so many things and taking so many supplements that it is very difficult to tell what is helping. Maybe its not what he is eating (vegan) or not eating (meat) that is important, but fasting may be the most important. Certainly cutting out sugar, processed food, and seed oil really helps. Don't make it complicated. The most important things centanarians in blue zones have in common are 1. Purpose in life 2. Strong family/ social support with sense of belonging and happiness 3. Always moving and doing things 4. Not too much stress 5. Don't eat by the clock (not all of them are vegetarians or vegan) . Food does not appear to be the most important factor.

Quite so, however many people thrive on keto and carnivore lifestyles. We are not all the same. I agree with leaving toxic people, because many of us are empaths without realising it, and take on their toxicity. We attach to people, and they attach to us, and parasitic people will drain your energy and pass negative energy to you. If there is anything that feels wrong, leave the relationship peacefully. Don't ever get guilt tripped into staying because you will be affected by the toxicity, however well you eat, exercise, sleep etc. Best thing I ever did was to move away from negative people who I thought were 'friends', and spend more time alone and with my pets.

It is always beneficial to hear one man's conclusions. The admonitions against habitual drinking, in favor of exercise, low sugar and refined carbs, are excellent (one guy's opinion). I am 62 and have run about an hour daily since 19, early in the morning, after study. Not sure I agree with the intense interval crowd. My workout has taken on more and more the nature of meditation through the years. Good sleep, interval fasting, moderate consumption -all excellent ideas. One might add self-sacrificial social interaction. After all, life is about far more than just living (though I suppose not less).

To really do an accurate comparison, you would have to have the same overhead lighting setup as was in the original clip. Also, the type of camera and resolution can make a difference in how old a person looks. It's no use saying anyone looks younger in another clip when there are many other variables involved.

      Angela...
Ah, finally a voice of reason. Too many espouse extremist diets on YT. You have listed the rational human dietary rules that most of us should follow.
Eat ORGANIC whole foods, drink good water (bottled for me as the tap water in Toms River, NJ tastes like it 's from the clubhouse swimming pool), avoid simple sugar loaded or producing, carbohydrates, get a good night's rest and exercise between 3-5X/ week, including weights and cardio, get some daily sunlight and try not to be nasty.
It's also beneficial to have a daily fast of at least 12 hours in a 24 hour period. Maybe even longer. I think your body appreciates a break from gluttony. The U.S. population, as a whole, is brutally overweight, particularly girls in the 20-35 year range. It's totally sad.
Good friend of mine was overweight, had the band put on his stomach/intestine area, then lost a bunch of weight.
The band started to make him nauseous so he had it removed and had his stomach stapled. Much more serious surgery
Almost immediately started gaining weight and is now over 300 pounds @ 5'6".
No surgery will correct your poor eating habits. You need your brain to do that.
That is what I strive for. Sometimes my brain let's me down, but I win most of the time.

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation:
00:00 🤖 Dr. David Sinclair, a Harvard genetics professor, has adopted a diet and lifestyle that has made him biologically younger, with improved health markers compared to his earlier years.
01:09 🛡️ To slow down aging, exercise vigorously three times a week until you lose your breath, which stimulates positive bodily responses, like muscle growth and better blood flow.
01:52 🥦 The most important eating habit for longevity is to eat less often and reduce the daily eating window. Dr. Sinclair prefers a six-hour eating window and often skips meals.
02:32 💊 Intermittent fasting, with at least 16 hours of not eating, boosts the body's defenses against aging and promotes autophagy, a cellular recycling process.
04:35 🍃 Dr. Sinclair focuses on "stress plants," like colorful vegetables and green tea, rich in polyphenols, which activate the body's defenses against aging.
08:28 💊 Dr. Sinclair takes three supplements daily: Resveratrol, NMN (a form of vitamin B3), and Metformin, which may support longevity and improve health.
10:18 🚫 To promote longevity, cut down on sugar, particularly fructose, which can lead to fatty liver disease and other health issues.
11:53 🍞 Dr. Sinclair eliminated bread from his diet, as it can cause blood sugar spikes and crashes, leading to hunger and brain fog.
12:49 🥩 He reduced meat consumption in favor of plant-based proteins, as plants offer better longevity benefits with their amino acid ratios.
13:45 🥛 Dr. Sinclair also cut out dairy, further improving his health markers, possibly due to a reduction in overall protein intake.
14:14 🍷 He stopped drinking alcohol daily, emphasizing the importance of choosing red wine varieties like Pinot Noir for their Resveratrol content.

I also believe that stress plays a huge role in our longevity. Managing stress is key and one should incorporate meditation, yoga, etc. into their daily routine. And let’s not forget about your genetics as well as the environmental conditions you live in. (food, air, water.)

Eating habits- two meals with a six hour gap 12PM & 6PM, no snacking, allow fasting 18 hours and atophagy (Repairs)occurs, hunger stops.
Foods to eat- plant food organics, stress plants, polyphenols, colors, matcha tea, spinach, olive oil, mediterranean diet.
Supplements to takes- resveratrol, NMN, metformin a drug
Foods to avoid- sugar, avoid fruit juices, processed foods, use monk fruit, allulose, stevia etc. no chemical sweetener. Avoid meats? Avoid alcohol, if you can’t, drink Pinot Noir it’s the best stress wine. Avoid dairy.
This is just me: If you do meat grass fed-finished. Salmon is the best fish. All seafood shell fish have great properties, 4oz though. If you do dairy, organic heavy whipping cream has no sugar, hard non pasteurized cheeses, eggs pasture fed are better. Good stuff!

It’s about understanding yourself, your body and search for what works for you. The one thing I agree with the various restorative health specialist that will work for most people, is moderation and limiting frequency of meals. Everything else is based on each individual need.

These are helpful tips. Also In the Buddhist sriptures it is mentioned that eating exessive amounts of food reduces lifespan. Also It is said that lifespan is mostly related to karma (your mental verbal and physical actions). There is a Sutta in the Buddhist cannon that explains this called “Chakkavatti Sihanada Sutta”. Where the Buddha explains how lifespan decreases in periods of desreasing human virtues and how lifespn increases in periods of increasing virtues. It is an interesting read. It is said that currently the lifespan is at a maximum of 120 years. Buddhist texts also show some specific good karma for extending lifespan such as saving humans and animals from dying, offering pure water to others etc and being happy about this good karma done. Couldnt hurt giving them a try also. These days thanks to science we are having a little longer to live. however in the long run what needs to happen is society to become more virtuous.

Everything Dr. Sinclair said in this video is legit, with the exception of Meat. Fat in meat DOES NOT raise triglycerides, it is in fact fructose, sugar and gluten that spikes it. Plus, meat has potential amino acids such as L-Lysine which is a neutralizer for free radicals. The problem with meat and its fat, is when people combine it with french fries and other refined carbs, causing a massive oxydation of lipids in the body. But if you eat meat and combine it with green vegetables, it's a good and healthy treat.

@@patrickokeeffe4787 I do that with some fasting. We don't need plants on a day to day basis. Most if not all nutritents should be covered by animal sources. We are animals after all, and thus other animals have exactly what we need in our bodies. I do however, believe an occasional (like a couple times per month) "plant-bomb" which stress our body like exericses do to us can be beneficial. Like cavemen, when they cannot find animals all time, for shorter periods, just stay hungry, otherwise, get some plants to survive. No other fake processed foods

Not sure if it's the fasting, but I'm almost shredded, and I do not workout. Some stretches in the morning for less than three minutes, then yogurt, salad and light foods.
Strange about my appearance, since before then I drank whiskey daily for years. Yet, ky blood pressure is low, my mood is great daily, and any stress (which was GIGANTIC at the time), I've learned to kill off with a positive morning mantra.
Stress and overeating are the worst for longevity. Moving to Greece later this year, amd hoping to improve even further.

It would be interesting to know where Sinclair was sourcing his dairy? If in America, it would factory raised beef, which live an unnatural life, and are fed highly unnatural foods. I live in Ecuador, where all the beef are pasture raised, which means they live out in the sunlight, and eat anything and everything in the pasture, weeds, grasses, small plants etc. Dr. Berg has shown results of lab studies showing the meat of such cattle to leave advantageous blood markers. There was also an excellent study showing the only really healthy fat to use was either beet fat or butter / ghee, and especially from pasture raised beef. I use a lot of dairy, and am noticing improvements in my long slow recovered from a severe case of burn out and adrenal fatigue.

BMI of 25 (could be a bit better). 69 yo. On no drugs. Levine Phenoage consistently in low 50s since if been testing last 3 years. Big believer in routine blood labs. Make sure inflammation markers are very low, Common marker is hsCRP. Same for ApoB (best lipid marker) . Know your kidney and liver function numbers. I do add brown sugar to oatmeal, but it’s literally a pinch for flavour. I’ve intermittent fasted since about the age of 6 (maybe?) because I don’t like eating close to going to bed and I’m never hungry until at least 3 hours after waking up… depending on if it’s a workout morning (I’ll be quite hungry soon after a workout). For me, the most filling things are bread + oatmeal and/or tofu. I can probably go 20 hours on just 500-1000 calories of that (although I don’t calorie count or try to purposely restrict calories).
I exercise every day, although only 2-3 of those days are high intensity. Mostly, I do low intensity aerobics and stretches.

I'm from the Canary Islands but grew up in Australia. My mother raised us on the Mediterranean DIET. I'm 53 today and still follow it. I've raised our 15 year old son on it. My mother is 73, lives in Portugal and is very fit and healthy. She doesn't take any prescription medication. She takes daily walks at the beach and has a farm in the country and that keeps them fit. They sell the excess food. My great grandmother lived into her 100's and I met her when I was 12. Both my grandparents are still alive. I've been eating the way suggested in this video my whole life. When I was 26 I started bushwalking. At age 28, Astanga Vinyasa YOGA. At age 38, after I gave birth to my son I took up running. At age 45 I started gymnastics, Krav Maga and Crossfit. I walk 10,000 steps minimum each day. I'm not on any medication. I call my diet the rainbow diet. I only eat colourful plants, oily fish, nuts, seeds and blueberries, lentils, chickpeas and beans, a little egg, no dairy, Cacao in my black, sugarless coffee, green tea + apple cider vinegar before meals. I eat dinner at 3.00pm fast until 9.00am. I also do a full day fast on Saturdays, the LORD's day. I don't eat processed food, no dairy, no meat, no alcohol, no smoking, no sugar. I go to sleep and wake up at the same time each day without an alarm.Bed at 6.00pm, wakeup at 3.00am. I homeschool our son at year 9 level and have no brain fog. My advice is the suggestions in this video are a great start but there is a little bit more to eating for longevity. Start with the advice here. Make sure to never skip a scheduled meal, eat on time and mindfully, never between meals, fast at least 16 hours overnight, with one 20-24 hour fast once a week. Drink 2.5-3litres filtered water a day (green tea and black coffee counts).Avoid meat, dairy and fruit except for blueberries. Oily fish for protein. Drink decaffeinated green tea with 1 tablespoon.apple cider vinegar 3x day before meals for digestive enzymes. Eat 1 tablespoon 85% Cacao a day (try powder over dark chocolate). Eat steamed broccoli, spinach (wombok and purple), bok choy with baked salmon and sweet potato (with 1 tablespoon olive oil, cinnamon and some sea salt) every second day (so 3-4x week). Drink the water you used to steam. In between eat lentils, beans, chickpeas. Egg whites with spinach for breakfast. Take vitamin C tablets with each meal to increase iron intake. Take a calcium supplement but never with meals (both calcium and caffeine inhibit iron intake). Magmesium at night with your calcium. Co-enzyme Q10 for heart health. Lavendar for anxiety (Seremind is a product that contains 80mg standardised lavender). Curcumin for inflammation (fat soluble so take it at a meal time). 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil per day. Walk 10,000 steps each day. Alternate strength training with flexibility and balance training. Alternate strength workouts with 1 day. Heavy lifting (1-5 reps), 1 day. Hypertrophy (8-12 reps) and 1. day Endurance (20+ reps). Good luck!!

      Why people love extremes 😂
      Have meat, fruits and vegetable
I dont think too much meat is a good idea. Due to cholesterol and kidneys inflamation
Dont overexagerate. Dont make your food some kind of weird personality
Eat various vitamins nutrients sources. Try to take the most natural bio stuff
      And exercice and sleep well
And note that we are not immortal. So its normal you will feel bad after a certain age. Cause just like all living beings we have a expiration date. Just like fruits, /here is a timing where we slowly but surely start to rot till we are no more
and qlso that there is something call genetics. Where you can be lucky or unlucky on certains aspects

personal anecdote, I'm 32 but some people think I'm 25 or 28, some even thought I could be younger. I've had slip ups but for the last 10 years I've been eating whole foods plant based diet, I weigh 60kg, I have the skinny genes too though. I don't have kids and I've always been single, low stress life for the most part but have had some stress. I also visit steam rooms and saunas every couple of months, try to buy organic mostly, and I think I am eating in a calorie deficit (around 2000 - 2200 per day). no skin care routine. based on my results David is right, eat organic, ,mostly plants, skip a meal or eat less calories, low stress (don't have kids ) lifestyle. focus on antioxidant rich foods, herbs and spices.

I have no idea how long it has been since I weighed that little. Maybe high school, back in the 1940s. Anyway, I feel great and having a positive mental attitude is key to good health. Cheers! 😎

Dr. Sinclair's research is interesting and I'm sure it works for him, however what's his daily lifestyle? Is navigating public transportation? Walking/running for buses heading to the L up and down stairs in and out of the subway then walking 3city blocks across heavy traffic to his office?
Or relating that scenario with a bag of groceries and your work tote in all times of weather? Food is fuel and FUN. Eat for your lifestyle. Eat sensibly, cook your meals mostly, take your lunch, eat when your hungry, drink water, view sweets &wine as treats, if you need a glass of wine or a delicious slice of cake after a stressful work week ENJOY it!
Food is one of the pleasure s of life. Exercise and don't glutton yourself but HAVE FUN! laugh everyday, be in nature everyday- if it's only your backyard, count your blessings, take full bodied deep breaths then exhale, SING, limit your time with toxic people and DANCE -move your body!
Besides a little something sweet or starchy maybe the spark you need.
    ENJOY

This is very interesting to me. After trying a lot of "healthy" diets, I have a knee-jerk reaction to extreme diets yet he seems to be able to back it up both scientifically and anecdotally. I fast for 3-4 days on a fairly regular basis and feel great when I do it (after getting over the initial, habitual urge to eat). What he is saying rings true with my experience.

If you're doing a water-only fast for 3-4 days without medical supervision I strongly implore you to consider getting medical supervision for your fasts. Anything over 24 hours can have severe effects on your kidneys(if you're unlucky), and the symptoms can be pretty hard to notice(fatigue, dizziness, nausea). Fasting is great, but also carries very real risks. Best regards, from someone who used to water-only fast 10+ days fairly regularly. I don't go over 24 hours now that I know, I was lucky.

@@vincentizghra6144 Sure, 10 days needs special care taken during and after depending on your body, genetics etc, and coming off takes careful planning around refeeding as if done wrong it CAN harm, even very rarely, kill. DEHYDRATION hurts the kidneys. Too much BODY FAT being burned (obese) can harm the kidneys. Previous kidney issues can also play a part. So yes a persons first long one like that could definitely do with being monitored and have a good health check up.
I wouldn't suggest anyone fasts 3 - 4 days more than once a quarter, unless they are cleaning out a specific disease and being monitored. And having a check up before starting fasting at all would give peace of mind.
It appears you may have gone too hard too often. Sorry it didn't work out for you, however 3 x 14 days cured my partners uterine fibriods that were 7 golf ball sized tumours, with no meds or surgery, just pre and post ultrasounds and scans.

What we need to know is what the level in grams the sugar needs to be reduced to so the body will produce it's own sugar - Tortillas that I eat have 50 grams of carbs but sugar is hard to get rid of - A very interesting thing is; the polyphenols can get cooked out but not the sugar.

Great video, Dr. Sinclair. Thanks. I agree for a different reason. A heavy breakfast, induces sleepiness in me only and as I get ready to work, i FEEL DROWSY. However, If I HAVE JUST TWO SLICES OF BREAD, I can work all morning, physical or desk job. If I just two slices of bread for lunch, I avoid drowsiness again. If I have a heavy dinner, I feel drowsy again. But that's ok. Every meal devastates my productivity. So, I am different to an extent. acts as a sleeping pill for me. I the work around is simple. to stay productive. After dinner too, I am suddenly drowsy. at night. On a different subject, almost: By the way, with meat, my food intake doubles or triples. So, if someone wants to lose weight, a vegetarian diet may by having a heavy lunch. I just don't feel like over eating, as I am scared of feeling drowsy. Like you said, ancient cavemen forefathers used to eat one meal a day, and drink water (free) all day long, kept in containers.
