And the award for funniest joke in this sketch goes to...... It's a three way tie! Angela for "Origami", Hugh for "the Wurst", and Ed for The (wait for it) Pause"! Well done all of you!

I don't know exactly why these pauses became so popular among TV presenters, but Ed is certainly on to something.
I watched a quiz show and the pause "And the answer is"...and the answer was a full 10 seconds. Do that for 20 questions through the show, and you same a lot of TV time and money.
The other trick is, getting to "And the answer is"...short pause..."Right after this break". insert 3 minutes of ads, come back to a review of what happened, and after about 5 minutes, we get the answer, that is, if you havent told the TV to bugger off and changed channel.

It's no secret that they're told the topics in advance so they can prepare jokes. Some panellists write jokes on their hand, others go back to their seats between topics to consult a notebook.
