Truth. I'm skinny with a size 30 waist, and i don't know how that happens here. We take literally every opportunity to go eat pizza followed by coffee at Blue Brick. Or Las Palapas at 3 in the morning. Or Greek food either at Deimos or Mina & Dimi's. Or wherever Tre Trattoria has moved. and the random Thai and Vietnamese restaurants. OMG I love those places.
"Barbacoa can actually be several different meat types is more about the cooking process". As a Mexican, I tell you that you are correct. Many people do not understand that there are many different types of barbacoas!! The barbacao varies in each city of Mexico and with people's preferences. Great video!!
This was so cute. - native SA local ☺️ Next time, keep your parking space at the Pearl and just walk down to the Riverwalk which runs right along Hotel Emma at the Pearl. 👍
Took my grandsons to San Antonio, where the eldest tried barbacoa, he was 10 at the time. He decided then and there it was his favorite meat in the whole world. It is so much easier to introduce children to "different" foods when they are younger.
Usually places like the riverwalk are for tourists but, I lived there for over 30 years and we went there all the time. When we visit, we still go and usually end up eating at Casa Rio. It's been there since the 1940's!
@Bud Green I don't know where you're going or what you do there but when we go, we go for walks, a meal and for the ambiance. The walks and the ambiance don't cost a thing, and the meals are comparable to anywhere else in San Antonio. We usually eat at Casa Rio because the food is great and has been for at least 75 years!
San Antonian dropping in. Our food is the one major factor really keeping this town alive. We of course have good concert venues like Aztec Theatre and the AT&T center, and smaller places to see underground music like Paper Tiger, Bang Bang Bar, Limelight, etc. But munching on our cuisines while going to the historic sites is what really does it for the mainstream and I love the town that it's built from that. So many amazing small restaurants (our beloved 210 Pizza) on our street had to close down for good. I'm glad to see you were able to get so much enjoyment out of the ones still open, and hopefully when this is all over and people are hopefully given loans or something to start over that you guys come back and see what we're like when corona isn't happening. Buenos viajes
why? keep it in your pants. It is actually a 10 day event with all kinds of festivals, parades and a carnival downtown. Not sure why it would make anyone "lose it". Seek some professional help.
For anyone not from San Antonio looking to visit, please do. There's some really awesome places to check out. But I wouldn't recommend the Pearl Farmer' Market. It's not really a farmer's market anymore where you can get fresh produce. It's more of a place where venders sell their products, albeit they have nice stuff to buy, but don't expect to see local farmers selling their crops.
Definitely try out the hemisfair park! Check out the zoo :) or just simply take a stroll downtown along the river walk. I would also recommend taking a boat tour :) very educational and scenic .
River walk, the pearl, if you like to fish there is calaveras or braunig lake (plenty more but those are popular), 6 flags, the Botanical garden, sea world, downtown in general. Go out and explore. I love my city 😛
I forgot how much I loved your videos. I followed your adventures while I was recovering from a minor brain surgery that left me unable to eat or drink for months. Doing better, thanks for exploring and eating.
What San Antonio isn’t on the culinary map? It’s the birth place of Tex mex cuisine and the ones that innovates on the cuisine. Y’all need to try some birria quesatacos, marzapan waffles, marzapan horchata. San Antonio also has a Culinary Institute of America which contributes in the Pearl. The Pearl is a good place to get an idea of the culinary scene of San Antonio. As for the riverwalk pro tip park at the Pearl and walk all the way to downtown. Downtown parking as you said it’s expensive and not worth it.
I've been to San Antonio many times, but usually in February for the Texas Music Educator Association Convention. We enjoy the Pearl District where there is a good place to eat vegetarian food. It is a great city which has something for everyone. The Missions are very interesting to tour too.
This is honestly one of the best videos i seen of someone featuring my city! yall guys did a good job and yes BARBACOA Is so delicious we eat it on Sunday Mornings or afternoons mostly lol
I was at the farmers market literally the day before the COVID shut down and it was not near as busy as it was the day you guys went. it is really an awesome place.
Those tortillas look bomb, I lived in sa 4 yrs ago now I'm in Austin. The breakfast tacos don't compare no place in Austin makes it's own tortillas. SA definitely breakfast taco champs. Now I'm thinking about driving down there for tacos. Dam
Fantastic food adventure you both have delivered to us that watch your channel. Outstanding balance of culture and taste. Thanks for sharing this electrifying video of your life and times. Eloquently done with a gold standard of living the dream many people wish they had.
When I was a kid, 60 yrs ago, we would go to the Original Donut Shop. You could watch them fry the donuts thru a big window. Those donuts are just as good now and the tacos are delish.
We were blessed with a boy, another boy, and a third boy so we adopted a little girl from Texas. It took 30 days to have the approval to take her back to Ohio, so we spent our time in San Antonio. Every night we went for a boat tour of River Walk. Give it a try sometime ! Oh by the way, she is now your age, almost. 💖💖❗️ And she gave us a granddaughter. Love you both ! Loni & Al
What a crazy/amazing adventure! My (Allison's) parents had 4 girls and then 3 boys...I can only imagine how hard their fingers and toes were crossed when they found out they were pregnant for the 5th time...4 girls was wild enough! 😅We would have loved to do a river cruise...hopefully one day soon the world won't be so crazy and we can finally take one there. So happy your little girl has brought you so much love and joy 💗
you live in that dump? full of uneducated ignorant people, guys who were in the military for 2 years and think they are rambo, welfare queens and soft wannabe gangsters. not to mention heaps of people have moved there the past 5 years raising rent prices and further deteriorating the city.
We are headed to San Antonio this weekend to retrace your steps. We had been trying to figure out where to go we are going stir crazy and San Antonio is perfect. I haven't been in about 20 years and I live in Houston 🙄 and we also love Mexican food breakfast tacos are my favorite and could eat them for breakfast and dinner.

I'm homesick for San Antonio and moved away almost 7 years ago to Missouri. It took me a while to find a Mexican restaurant in Missouri that reminds me of San Antonio food. I love the barbacoa at Tellez with pico de gallo and you missed out on delicious tamales but left me drooling over the barbacoa tacos. I haven't eaten a donut from The Donut Shop in a very long time. Thanks for giving me a glimpse of my hometown!
What are you talking about? The election is not decided here, until the Electoral College votes on it - December 14, 2020. As of now, nothing is official. Regardless of what the news media puts out. Most (sane) Americans know this.
@@emilyeast6924 True (but 99% of votes have been counted so until the formality of the 14th, without a 2nd Civil War, it's kind of clear who won). This made me so happy!! 🥺💜😭 i love my San Antonio. Unfortunately I have not been to the Pearl Brewery 🥺 but I’m glad you got to enjoy it! And that park is Kennedy park and that’s where my dad and I go when ever we visit the area to grab food 💜💜
Tellez is the best. The aroma takes me back to my childhood. The line for tamales on the holidays is down the block. Welch’s grape soda, Orange Crush & Big Red have the highest sugar content. The “e” sounds like a long “a”. Car-nay Gee-SA-Tha (the “d” sounds like a “th”).
This is cool. If you guys like these things, I recommend going to Laredo TX. I've been in San Antonio TX for all my adult life, but born and raised in Laredo. Food in Laredo is amazing.
I lived in the Rio Grande Valley for 12 years......I really miss breakfast tacos. Once we made cabrito on the grill, wow was that delicious. Cabrito=young goat.
as a san antonio local i was so happy y’all went to the original donut shop! it’s highly underrated by tourists, but adored by us locals😆
lol it had to be said, that was way too cringy!
I'm an uncultured swine san antonio local. I've never been to any of these places and I live about 10min away from each of them 🤦♀️
Any idea how long the Original Donut Shop been open?
Last time I ate there 1982???
The tacos are fantastic!!
original donut shop is OG.... have to stop by on the way to work now. !!!
Yessss we love everything from The Donut Shop
I'm surprised you guys didn't go to Pollos Asados del Norte, Taquitos West Ave, and the Cove. My favorite spots in San Antonio.
Yeah they did Tex Mex food. Pollos asados El Norteño is so good!!
The Cove.....yes!!!!
I live not too far away from taquitos west ave
Don't forget Original Blanco Cafe on fredericksburg rd., el tropico ice cream on fredericksburg rd., and el milagrito
Pollos is to die for!!!
It’s very hard to stay healthy in San Antonio TX lol

Ha ha yes!

I was going to say the same thing. The main downtown Riverwalk is close, and you get to see the cool art under the I-35 bridge.

I'm from San Antonio and just moved away pre covid. Thank you for making me home sick in a good way.
