If you come through this way again you need to stop in Augusta Wisconsin an have a burger at gup's an the loaded fries. For the best cheese curds Milwaukee burger is my favorite. Altoona family restaurant is best breakfast. These are just my favorite! Glad you enjoyed your time in our little neck of the woods. I had a great time in Wisconsin a few years back. Went to a Fish fry Friday, imbibed a good quantity of local beer, which was awesome btw. The locals were curious about this English bloke but welcoming and friendly. Can't wait to go back!

Geez, you are so close the the North Shore of Lake Superior. You should go to Duluth, Minnesota, then up the North Shore to Split Rock Light House. Well worth the visit. Lots of beautiful waterfalls and State Parks in that area. Oh, and DON'T MISS a visit to Palisade Head not far from the Light House. Great place to stay is Cove Point Lodge in that area. Amazing place on the Lake. All rooms have a view of the Lake and great room options.
This was such a pleasure to watch! I went to college at UWEC and live only a couple hours from Eau Claire now. On hot summer days we used to float down the river in tubes sipping a bevvy. EC and the Chippewa Valley is one of the most underrated areas of the state. Leaving here and then returning after a few years made me appreciate it more. Good coverage of the place. Water Street is considered a distinct neighborhood from Downtown.

Lots of rustic areas for hiking or water fun, great ATV trails, Black River Falls and Neillsville are within travel area....Get a suite and stay on a Friday night for the band and enjoy the local crowd!

What a surprise it was to see that you visited my home town, it certainly is a lovely place to visit and live, it's not without it's issues but in the grand theme of things Eau Claire is far better than most, plus like you said it has a small town atmosphere with city amenities. :)

They actually started kayaking on the Eau Claire River that flows into the Chippewa River. Highly recommend Northern Taphouse. Some of the best food. French onion dip is amazing.
Yass!! Shakey Graves is my all time fave. My husband got me a Shakey cameo for my bday. And we did the meet and greet for his last couch concerts. Have tickets for his San Diego show. And looking to double up and go to one of his Portland shows too.
