Grew up in Eau Claire and also attended UWEC, and it’s a great city. It’s changed so much for the better in the last 20 years. My folks are still there. I used to bike at Lowes Creek, and bike along the Chippewa Trail from downtown to Caryville, then connect with Red Cedar over to Menominee in the mid 2000s. I still remember when I was in grade school and Uniroyal tire closed and Banbury Place sat vacant for a couple decades. Menards is HQ in Eau Claire, so you either had worked there or know someone who does. I spent a summer there driving a forklift after high school. Tons of good fishing action around town too. Miss going to the packer bars or bowlwinkles and catching the Packer games. I still long for Eau Claire from time to time, amenities of a city with small town feel.
I'm sorry to hear that! Actually there is a ton of history here. In the forestry boom 1 out of 7 logs in the late 1800's was flown down the Chippewa River that flows through the heart of Eau Claire. It was a really important area for the building of America. Also there are sooo many lakes, and hiking trails a short drive from Eau Claire. Hope you have a great day!
