    I love my keychron k6. It definitely feels premium. The stock keycaps indeed are a problem, and they are also easily chipped so I bought YMDK blanks since I am an excessive typist. In terms of battery, 2 weeks since the last time I charged it mine is still running.

    I just got the gk68xs and I love it way more than I thought I would. I like the build quality better than my keychron. It just feels way sturdier than I thought it would be even though I went with the plastic case. Personally the backspace key is not an issue for me. I realised I was always hitting my backspace key kind of in the middle and only had trouble with it for the first day. The keycaps are also good quality and superior to the keychron keycaps. The keychron is easier with bluetooth, changing backlight and just better user experience in that regard but I also don't really care too much about that. I'm also mostly connected with the cable so bluetooth is also not high on my priority list.The gk68xs comes with software which is poorly designed but it does the job. Personally I would take the epomaker over the keychron if you are planning on not updating anything. If you really care about a long lasting battery and you're willing to buy new keycaps than the keychron might be the better option.

    You know the coolest thing you can do with the gk68? You can have it plugged constantly into one pc and connected to bluetooth to 3 others. And you can easily switch between them. Need to use one of the bt pcs? Press fn+z, x or c. Need the one wired? Press fn+z,x or c again. Simple as that. Extremely good when you have a pc and a laptop.

    Depends on the use case. A left handed charging cable would be perfect for my use case. I get what you're saying though. It's definitely not standard. I actually have the SK68x which is extremely similar. My issue with this keeb is the right shift. I kept missing it since it's only 1u. So I reprogrammed several switches and now I've got two 1u shifts next to each other, lol. I still don't love it, though.

    • @jayc626
      @jayc626 4 года назад +1

      The NK65 doesn’t have bluetooth which I need for switching between Mac and iPad or media center for tv. and NK65 case just looks too generic for me. I prefer their v2's purple plastic model, though, but I think it still makes a great 2nd keyboard if it's a cheap price. But for a second keyboard wouldn't you also want bluetooth for flexibility to carry around or a heavy aluminum for rigidity and to keep it from moving around on the desk much? Switches and keycaps can always be replaced and is one of the main reasons for owning a mechanical keyboards.. but you wouldn't bother trying to switch out the case or order a new pcb with bluetooth :/
      With those in mind, the Gk68XS has a way more incredible looking Alu design and a heavier Alu case and comes with descent switches and keycaps to keep you busy for the time being until you decide to change it up.. it also has this neat little RGB microphone feature that most reviewers forget to mention 😄

      @@jayc626 for me I need the flexibility of bluetooth since I work on a Mac and game on my PC. Being able to easily switch between the two without using a USB switch or moving plugs back and forth is just too much to give up. I think I'm going to pull the trigger on the Epo, that extra space functionality and RGB side lighting (yup, he didn't mention it here but the PCB has side RGB meaning once custom cases start coming out you can prolly find an acrylic case to add even more illumination to the board) I think it takes the cake i terms of features.

    If anyone if considering getting one of these boards I’m in the same boat and would like to give some info after having both of them. The sk68s honestly is a pretty good keyboard right off the bat it has a nice thock sound which can be improved but doesn’t sound supper bad as is. It has nice key caps that look nice and sound nice. I got the brown switches and they are ok but over all I think it’s a good keyboard and I’ve started to like it even more as I started to try other mechanical keyboard as it just sounds good out of box it really impressed me because I thought this was normal for prebuilt keyboards but that’s not the case. Now for the Keychron it doesn’t sound no where near as good and was honestly disappointing I ordered the aluminum one and thought that was going to be the one for me. With the keychron you’re going to need to put in some work to get a butter sound if you care about it also the key caps suck and Imo are ugly so you’re going to want to get other ones. Untimely with all that being said I still went with the keychron reason being the longer better life and there being a hot swapsble mechanical version. I wanted to be able to use the keyboard at home and take it to work and with the sk68s I would have to be charging it everyday because the battery last maybe 2 days without the rgb on and sleep mode on also a BIG thing to consider is that though it is hot swapable it uses optical switches which limits the switches you can use greatly. Those two reasons are why even with likeing the sk68s more I went with the keychron. You’re going to have to put more work into the keychron but if battery life is important (which I think is Bc if you’re always charging it why get a Bluetooth keyboard) to you and you want it to be hot swapable with mechanical switches then I think it’s a pretty good choice though not perfect.

    Good points, great video! Some things that I have questions are, how are the bluetooth battery and latency between the two? Keychron has a 4000 mah battery, and GK68XS has 1900 mah, have you noticed the shorter batttery life? Also, how's the latency response compared to one another? Is the light button on the Keychron remappable?
    I find the price for the DIY version of GK68XS to be much more attractive than their full kits (due to the cost difference of $20USD for just gateron switches - which can be purchased on Aliexpress for less). At USD $75 (DIY everything minus switch kit) GK68XS and $89 for Keychron K6 (with switches).. the price is almost equivalent at that point.

    • @QGinHQ
      @QGinHQ  4 года назад

      Gene Lam Great questions! I have not noticed any major difference in battery life, they also seem spot on with latency. No major issues. The Light button I don’t believe is able to be remapped, but I will have to double check.

      @@marat9434 I know, I have the k2 with rgb. I also have an optical sk61 and it is 3x as bright as my k2 v2. It's still weird to compare a white led to colour.
      I don't know if this guy didn't know how to incresse the brightness of the gk68. Because with the sk61 if you turn the keyboard on or if you switch between led settings it always defautls to a medium brightness for some reason. gk68 and sk68 use the same driver software so the gk68 might also do that. I am pretty sure that the gk68 is much brighter than the keychron. All the keychron board leds are not so bright. They aren't as bad as certain other keyboards and look great with pudding caps etc. But they are pretty weak for regular shine through caps or with caps that are not shinethrough at all.
