Elton John is now 72 yrs young and in 2018 embarked on his 3 yr farewell world tour. Soon to be in Australia. He has done 30 albums with over 300 million record sales. Just a legend of music
I saw a video of him near the end of the show and he had a bit of a problem and need some medical help someone came out and check his vitals after a while he felt better and played the last song . before he started the people in the crowd were yelling "Take you time Take you time" and boy can he play i do a few of his songs on my guitar ..!

My brother & I met Elton John in 1973 at John Lennon Airport (Liverpool UK). So surreal. My brother asked him for an autograph & we got it!! He was so nice too. That was YEARS ago!! But probably Bernie Taupin was there too. We saw all the band walking along, we were in disbelief! At the time it was only Elton John I knew!! Love him so much, oh, & LOST the signed autograph!!!!
Elton John is a master entertainer .... 1979 Moscow show, he and Ray Cooper mesmerized us ... No Orchestra, No Backup Singers, No Autotune... Just Elton's voice, his piano, and Ray who is one of the best percussionist in the music industry...
"Blue Eyes",and "Nikita" written by Elton. "Benny and the Jets" was my fav of Elton's early music. I also always loved "Candle in the Wind" about Bernie Taupin's admiration for Marilyn Monroe, but when Princes Diana died and they rewrote that song as "Goodbye English Rose" for Diana's funeral I've never thought of it as "Candle in the Wind" again.
and early on so much of it went to pleasing his mom, according to Rocket Man movie, with nothing really doing that. I hope they were exaggerating this for film dramatic purposes.
Elton's autobiography just came out, my dear, and it is a must read. How he is still alive is a story in and of itself. Lyrics by Bernie Taupin, which were by accident and look where these two have taken it! This song and Tiny Dancer are the ones that pop into my mind most often. Also, I know I often complain about live performances and it being years and years later, but one of the great things about Elton is that he never gets tired of himself. He is grateful for every hit he has had. He loves his fans and stays true to them. Therefore, he doesn't try to change things up because he is bored. He never gets bored pleasing the people who put him where he is (besides his own talent). Therefore, I will say, that this live performance of about a 50 year old song, sounds like it did on the record! And, through charity work, he has given so much back to his country. He truly deserved his knighthood. He was not passed off to Charles or lowly William...the Queen herself knighted him. That will show you what a treasure he is to his country.
I met Elton John in 1972, I was 12 yrs old with my family at John Lennon Airport (Liverpool UK). My brother & I met him, he's older than me, & asked for his autograph & he did, but we LOST it!!
He played " Candle in the Wind " at Princess Diana's funeral. It was her favorite song by him and he changed some of the lyrics in honor of her for her funeral. Candle in the Wind he wrote originally in tribute to Marilyn Monroe.
A few years back my best friend got tickets for us to go see Sir Elton John in concert. He is definitely one of my favorites. It just so happens that this is my absolute favorite of his songs. I remember thinking he wasn’t going to perform it that night. He came back out for an encore& sang it. There I was, a grown woman crying bc seeing him perform it hit my heart. I have LOVED his music for as long as I can remember. When I was 6, my daddy & I would sing his song that was out at that time, “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” by him & KiKi Dee. I would love to see you react to that one. My daddy is no longer with us. But, I can still remember him smiling when I took over the living room dancing and singing with him.
When you spoke after the song about your experience during the Lion King, it really hit home. My late wife and I saw the movie, and I too, as a long time Elton John fan, was very disappointed when all the songs were sung by others. We always had a tendency to remain seated at the end of movies as the theater cleared out a little. So as the credits were rolling, the other movie goers were in various stages of departure, some still seated also, some standing up, or moving across the row, or down the stairs, some coming up from the lower section. As "Can You Feel The Love Tonight" started, booming through those speakers, everyone, to a person, froze in place during the entirety of the song. When it finished, it was like a switch was flipped, and the world resumed. It was the most magical experience we ever had in a theater. Still a vivid memory after more than a quarter century.
The iconic song, the grand production...and what amazes this musician the most about the video is that Sir Elton is singing through a Sure SM58 microphone. $99.00. It's been a work horse since it came out in 1966. By the way, the SM58 is just an SM57 with a foam wind guard stuck on the end. The drummer probably has some 57's on his kit. Unbelievable. Congrats to Sure for hitting it on the head and never changing it.
I saw Elton John in concert in 1980. Best concert ever. That was a great year. I saw, in concert, that year: Van Halen, Heart, Jackson Brown, Cheap Trick and Kiss.
"I want love" is a great song by him. The video was Robert Downey Jr. & a house he walks through. It was shot straight through in on shot. Roberts first chance after his downfall was given to him by Elton John!! Love them both 3000!
Three Dog Night's version of this song appeared first in 1970 on their "It Ain't Easy" album, with Elton John's permission. He was opening for them back then, and would soon outgrow Three Dog Night. Three Dog Night was a big band back in the seventies, and it actually helped launch Elton John's introduction into the U.S. markets. And "Your Song" can be found on most of Three Dog Night's greatest hits compilations. It's a good song. I was 13 when it was released, and I listened to it on a transistor radio when I was delivering newspapers on my paper route. Sting Ray bike, newspapers, and transistor radio. lol.
Wow does this song relate to me! I've got so many tender memories related to this song. My first husband had eyes that would turn between green and blue and I always thought of this as "our" song. Elton John music kept me grounded when my Grandmother was dying. It was awful, it was months. We never left her alone. Many nights I spent at her bedside with in my ears. I recommend "The Last Song". Beautiful.
This was my daughter's Wedding Song where she danced the 1st dance with her new husband. I said "hey you" when the line of the song "yours are the sweetest eyes I've ever seen" came around on the record; she, her mother and I wept.
Elton and his writing partner on Lion King was Tim Rice. They wrote ALL the music. It was performed mostly by someone else, but John and Rice wrote it all
I’m a fairly new subscriber, and have been an Elton John fan forever. One of his best, with amazing lyrics from Bernie Taupin (as always) is called Indian Sunset. Bernie Taupin pens the amazing story, Elton brings it to life.
I think the first time I heard this was coming home from college orientation in Indiana with my parents, summer of 1967. Yes, I'm getting old. One of my favorite songs by Elton was one of his lesser known ones, "The Last Song".
Elton John has SO many iconic, beautiful songs!!! It's difficult to just choose one as a favorite lol. My favorite shifts from time to time depending on where I am in my life, but the one I currently am in love with is called The One. Pure poetry in music, that song and, at least for me, so relatable. ♥

Elton John was extremely popular when I was in my late teens and 20's. I have many of his albums. He was one of my favorite singers at that time. I remember lying on my bedroom floor with my big headphones on, listening to his albums over and over. His lyrics always tell a story, and his music is some of the prettiest I have ever heard. But ultimately he moved on when he realized he was gay. I have read that this sing was written for her.)
I remember bringing in the New Year going into 1980 at the Airman's Club at Keesler AFB in Biloxi, Mississippi playing a Captain Fantastic pinball machine...
Elton John is one best in world. I cried when he played at princess Diana funeral. Don't know how he was able to do it.. They where great friends.. person says who is the piano man they say Elton John . He can play the hell out of it when see and listen to him. I saw him in concert and my gosh it was great..
First off, MRM you were making me chuckle throughout because you were giving something/someone the side eye! Second, I saw Elton John in concert 20 years ago. It was just him and a piano, no back up band or singers. It was an amazing experience. We got one encore and we all still wanted more. He is an unbelievably talented man. I can't really say that I have a favorite song of his though.
Legend. So many British musical legends have left us. Very happy to still have Elton making music. What an artist. My fav song by him is The One. Please react to it if you can.
Saw Elton in Pittsburgh my first year in college, during his Yellow Brick Road Tour, in 1974. Then, I saw him later in 1990 at the Omni in Atlanta, and I was about 20 feet from the stage. Great memories.
The writer and Elton were never lovers but are still good friends to this day...according to the latest movie. There were rumors in the early days that they were together. Sir because he was knighted by the Queen. I saw Elton with Michael Jackson right across the street. Saw Michael the next night. The energy in the air those two nights were astronomical. Never again will anything compare to these two artists. Just celebrated 29 years sobriety yesterday. If you started at Lion King you've missed so much good music.
Elton John has a HUGE catalogue of great songs. Try Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Daniel, Rocket Man, Don’t let the sun go down on me, Sacrifice, Candle in the wind, Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters, Someone save my life tonight, Philadelphia Freedom - and that’s just to get started.
Great to see some EJ represented! One of my favorite Elton tracks is a deep cut called ‘Tonight’, from the Blue Moves album. Bernie (Elton’s lyricist) wrote it during the dissolution of his marriage at the time. It’s got one of the most beautiful piano and symphonic arrangements in recorded music (imo) - would love to see a reaction! Keep up the good work, regardless :)
Sir ELTON JOHN is not just a talented singer he is a great human and has done so much good things to help hiv/aids patients and as one I love him because of him we have new drugs to keep us alive
Elton John sang Don't Let The Sun Go Down at a concert with George Michael and it's so awesome. But now he can't sing it without getting choked up because George Michael has since passed on. And it is just so sad. I cry every time I listen too it now. They are both such wonderful human beings. God really blessed this world with such beauty when He created those two. That's just the way I feel. I do find my feelings confusing about some things. But I'm not confused about how those two men blessed my life with song.
Ty, after over 50 years of live performances Elton John is now on his supposed Farewell World Tour. Elton writes the music and his partner Bernie Taupin does the lyrics. Try His Crockadile Rock a great fun song.
I LOVE this song! Elton was around long before the Lion King, lol. Candle In The Wind, Tiny Dancer, Funeral For a Friend. These are just a few of his wonderful songs. His album Goodbye Yellow Brick Road is amazing.
The picture looks like its from the Ephesus solo concert... I was able to catch the Medusa tour twice that year. Whole concert was fantastic! Of all his concerts I have seen... I enjoyed the solo concert the best!
This was the Royal Opera House concert in 2002. Ephesus was in 2001... I actually prefer the song mix (playlist) in the Ephesus concert over this 2002 concert.

Bernie (Elton’s lyricist) wrote it during the dissolution of his marriage at the time. It’s got one of the most beautiful piano and symphonic arrangements in recorded music (imo) - would love to see a reaction! Keep up the good work, regardless :)
I agree.Also "Sorry,seems the hardest Word...."
I REMEMBER WHEN HE SANG THIS AS A YOUNG MAN..SIR ELTON IS A TRUE LEGEND
Sir ELTON JOHN is not just a talented singer he is a great human and has done so much good things to help hiv/aids patients and as one I love him because of him we have new drugs to keep us alive
Love this song, my first boyfriend and I called this our song. Every time I hear this I think of our time together. Thank you for the memories
One of the prettiest songs ever. I was 16 when it was released
Elton and Bernie. Genius. This was the song when America realized who Elton was,and who he would be.
I love elton john as a singer, he is great, in my opinion the greatest of all time, bernie taupin and elton have done so well to keep making music
One of earliest hits. Before he exploded on the charts. In the era of Tiny Dancer.
This is my favorite song by Sir Elton John. I hope that you have a wonderful and blessed day my friend!!! 🙂🙂🙂🙂 🐧🐧
Sir Elton John: Empty Garden, Hey Hey John written for John Lennon.
I loved all of his hits as a kid, but I must say, these later live versions show just how well his voice aged!
So excited I get to see Elton next May as a birthday present from my best friend of over 30 years! It's going to be great!🎶❤
Always liked this song. Really nice.
Elton John song funeral for a friend. Soooo awesome.
Love this song forever! A great friend of mine sang it at my Wedding!
Music makes the world a better place.
Ty, after over 50 years of live performances Elton John is now on his supposed Farewell World Tour. Elton writes the music and his partner Bernie Taupin does the lyrics. Try His Crockadile Rock a great fun song.
Elton is 72. The first concert I attended around 1974 or so.
@@robk742 yeah... Until just now... I was going by just the thumbnail... But this concert was excellent too! Have you heard his oven song?👀
