- BE SURE TO CHANGE ENGINE OIL AND FILTER. Briggs & Stratton Fuel in Oil, Smoking, Nikki Carburetor Issue NOT Needle and Seat. Easy DIY. We show what to look for on a Briggs and Stratton carburetor ( Nikki ) that is leaking gas / fuel into the crankcase. It's a bad O-ring in the carburetor. DO NOT USE AFTERMARKET IN THIS REPAIR, IT WILL FAIL. USE ONLY BRIGGS AND STRATTON PART NUMBER 698781, it comes with new gasket and O-ring.

Thank you you saved me I had the same motor with the same issue but I couldn’t place the problem because my O-ring looked new
My guy!! I've been fighting this for days!! Replaced just about every other gasket I could think of. That gasket must have disintegrated and disappeared completed. Thank you for the detailed video!!
Thank you so much. My mom's mower was doing just this. You even offered the part numbers. You are the man. Thank you!
No thumbs down here
Great video man very informative
Great tip and it's nice to have the parts right in stock. Another job well done!!!
Thank you sir
Been beating my head against the wall trying to figure out this problem. Gotta kiss it next time. Thanks man.
I have this exact issue on a 2013 Husqvarna. You’re the only one I’ve found to explain the cause. Great video.
Thank you, glad it helped my friend.
Wow--my Deere L118 started smoking yesterday and oil was everywhere. I checked the oil and found it was way overfull, so I knew right away gas was getting into the oil and diluting it. The oil I drained out was very thin and full of gas. I had no idea of the cause but I searched Briggs and Stratton oil dilution on RUclips and found your video. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Good video, just directed me straight to the issue, gasket looked ok, tried New one, bang works like new , thanks
My 3 year old Husky zero turn decided to fill the crank case spilling the oil out the exhaust, the crank case had over 1 gallon of gas in it when I drained the engine and had no oil left. It had sat for 2 months as I did not need to cut the grass due to lack of rain. the engine actually hydrolocked from the amount of fuel in the cylinders. Ran fine after draining then engine and flushing it. Now to get to the root of the problem. this looks like a good place to start.
Thanks for the great video.
Awesome video brother. Thanks for sharing. Hope all is well and take care .
Thank you sir. Doing well thank you hope you are also.
I had my riding lawnmower for like 3 months working a good ,couple days ago starting smukin and I found gas on the oil ...good information thank you
Thanks for watching, glad our video could help you out.
Awesome video, thanks for sharing.
God bless you good sir. Watched it in 2x speed and it was so good I watched it again ;)
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great tip have a great day !
Thank you.. you too my friend
Good stuff man! Thanks for your videos!
Thanks I thought I had blown my motor 😢 but this fixed my motor !
Very nice video
good job thanks
Goofy little gaskets. I hold them upside down when installing just like you so they don’t get pinched. Great video T-bone
Yes sir, thank you for watching
Good Stuff last time i took mine apart it had a pieace of grass stuck in the in let of the fuel and the needle vale was stay open
That's why it's best to put in a fuel shut off vavle. Turn vavle off and let carb run dry . Then turn off key .
Great tip
Thank you sir
Yep was my Oring to.New carb was 25 bucks..✌️
Another good one
Thanks Jungle Bob
Nice tip, i thought you were going after that electric fuel shut off on the bowl. Cheap fix but also have the cost of an oil change and filter. 👍🇺🇸Roger
thanks for watching my friend
Thank you so much. I have nearly the same engine in a husqvarna and it just started blowing blue smoke, gas coming out of the exhaust and my oil is filled with gas. I will pull off the carb the way you showed. Thank you.
Thank you. You can fix it my friend. We have a couple videos on that issue. One had over 100k views.
@@RaleysSmallEngines say, before it broke down, I had recently changed the oil and oil filter. Obviously I need more oil, but is my new filter trash, or can I still use it? Thank you again.
@@nickr4015 replace it
Thank you!
Thank you sir! 👍
You're welcome my friend
you da man TBone!
😆
You didn’t say anything about the little jet sitting on the bench. That fell out when I took mine apart and I’m not sure where it goes.
I replaced the carb with the Briggs as listed. I am still having he hydolock issue. Any suggestions would be great.
I'm having this problem with a B&S 40R877/0001-G1. Is this happening while the engine is running, or off? It's on a JD Z235, and the gas tank sits lower than the carb, so it can't be gravity.
Thanks, I see I lack a spring for brake.
Harbortfreight has those little orings😊
thumbs up but i wish i saw it go back together and start up.i'm trying to help inlaws w their 2017 ariens riding mower which is getting gas into the crankcase.
Fuel in crankcase is caused by a leaking carburetor or a fuel pump leaking thru the pulse line.
Dang that one has had a tough hard life.
Mine the floats cracked it's a v twin 18 HP Briggs can't find a replacement float anywhere
Loved "N it's goin nn duh nn duh NN."
😆 thanks for watching my friend
My mowers doing this, but it’s a 22hp V-twin Briggs and Stratton, so I’m wondering what the gasket & O ring kit # is?
Look on the valve cover and get the model, type and code. Then look up the correct part number for your machine on partstree.com
Hello sir, Love your video. I Have been struggling with this issue with gas getting into the motor. I'm very familiar with needle seats and carbs. I have had a lot of dirt bike carbs over the years. Anyways, I cannot get rid of this issue. I have drained the tank and new fuel filter. My struggle is, I just purchased a brand new briggs and Stratton carburetor and put it on. Its doing the SAME thing, where white smoke and gas is filling up the oil. I'm at a complete loss knowing it has a brand new carburetor. I keep thinking what else it could be? Gas tank not totally cleaned out. This is on a John Deer Z425 zero turn mower.. any help would be appreciated.
Thanks for watching. You may have a bad fuel pump. Remove the pulse hose and see if it is wet with fuel.
@@RaleysSmallEngines . Do you think the fuel pump or lines is getting debris so the needle seat won't close? What is weird, if I change the oil again to remove the gas and put oil back it starts up like a champ and can mow the lawn fine. Give it a week later, gas is back in the crankcase when starting it back up. I'm going to change the lines and then look at pump. That's about all that's left. I didn't think about lines Until now...im going to order a new pump. Do you happen to have that part # for. 23hp John Deere z445 Briggs and Stratton
@@Mark-jz4dz just order a Briggs and stratton vacuum operated fuel pump. Don't use aftermarket.
I just want to say this fixed the issue. I can't figure out why a fuel pump makes the needle seat stay closed. This should be done by the floats in the carb. I'm definitely not a small engine guy, thanks for the recommendation, I probably replaced the oil 6 times because I thought I had this fixed. So simple...
I was having this same problem hopefully this will fix it...I hate these fuel pumps. Thanks for this information
I have a 20 HP Briggs & Stratton motor for gas, i have a same problem, i changed a carburater complete for a new one, and the problem is still remains. Please can you help me?.
Other sings, gas is expeled by exhaust pipe, oil in air filter.
If your old has gas in it only two things can cause it. Carburetor or fuel pump leaking gas thru the pulse line into the valve cover.
You can see the gas on the dipstick if you know what it looks like
I hope that little 0ring be the problem. But thanks anyway Mr.
Thanks for watching
Harbartfreight has then
The first thing you SHOULDA done was chunk that Intek in the scrap pile.
No. Mine is 21 years old. Runs great . Only replaced carbs 3x in 21years.
@@Ocean_breezes 😂 "only" 3 times in 21 yrs. Well, I guess you're the lucky one. 😉
@@donaldshimkus539 Mine is 25 years old, and I've never had to replace the carb. I cleaned the jets once just to say that I did it. It does have the 2 BBL carb, though, not the one in the video. It still runs great.
From what I've seen, most Intek problems seem to be operator induced.
I do have to admit that I may actually have to replace the rear tires on the mower soon. I changed the fronts about 5 years ago.
@@tinkerscorner54 I have 2 lines of thought here, 1 is if it's operator issues all other brands would fail at a similar rate. 2 is those who buy this cheaper product are less knowledgeable about it's operation/maintenance and therefore tend to cause their early demise. The few that last are owned by folks like yourself who know how to take care of their equipment.
@@donaldshimkus539 You are correct.
All of them fail if neglected/abused. I see it in all types of engines, transmissions, suspension parts, tires, etc. Especially in cars. And then people get the rude awakening about what neglect/abuse costs them. They expect you to fix it cheap but don't seem to have a clue that it would have been much cheaper to have the maintenance done in the first place. Not to mention driving/operating habits . . . I've seen some really funky examples over the years. Some really great equipment just totally trashed out way before it's time from not even taking the time to learn to use it, let alone take care of it.
On the other hand, you don't see or hear much about the good ones. They just go down the highway in their 1974 Pinto with 500K+ miles on the original engine, or their 1997 riding mower that still looks and operates as new, better than the newer, similar equipment. Or their 1971 Motor home that, may not look all that great on the outside but is a jewel on the inside and under the hood.
Mostly what we see and hear about are the problems. I like the "Free Mower in the Trash" videos. Those are the ones where you see all sorts, from neglect and abuse to ignorance and not knowing any better. It can be either a jewel or a money pit.
Take care and have a great day!
Good one fell. I wanted to give it a 👎 but there was to much good info to do so
Lol thank you rooster 🐓
