T-bone strikes again this is the second time this summer you have taught me how to properly diagnosis and fix a problem on my mower! Amazing comprehensive videos but you don’t piss around and say the things that help teach me great content keep up the good work
I’ve got that same engine/mower bought to Lowes, have had 3 returned & delivered, wish I’d left the thing at Lowes! Everybody i know that has this mower has the exact same problem!! Not over filled with oil either and uses non ethanol gas! Thanks for the video!
I have a huskavarna with a 22 Brigg. It was smoking and spitting oil out of the exhaust. The oil was overfull so I changed but I crossed threaded the oil filter. I cranked it up and it blew all the oil out and quit. I was kinda thrown into a daze by all the smoke and didn't check to see if filter was leaking. Something that I always do. I work on diesel tractor so a farm. Any way when I fixed the filter put more oil she turns over but will not crank. I think I ruined this engine. I already bought another lawn mower just wondering do all think it's done. I see now the carburator was the problem. But I think I burned it when all the oil leaked out.
Great job T-Bone, man I can't see how some people let their engine & fuel tanks get that filthy under the hood to the point where you can't even see where a leak is occurring. I have owned a Craftsman YT 3000 made by Husqvarna since 2013 with 800 hours on the B&S 21HP Intek single engine and it still purs like a kitten as I've been truly blessed that it's never blown the head gasket, broken the camshaft compression release, or had a rocker arm stud back out which all were common Intek issues. Everything is still as clean as day one as it only takes a little wiping things down occasionally, using a leaf blower, or an air compressor to blow it off once in awhile, and it can only help to keep all that dirt and grime from ruining everything.
You are correct my friend. A little cleaning and checking over every time it is used goes a long way to making them last. Also keeping the filters and oil changed. Thanks for watching and commenting my friend.
very informative, i been doing some small engines for 20 yrs. gotten more into it last 5 or so yrs. like watching shops teach others not just fly thru it . your remind me of tarrel fixs all, he same very informative. great video yall both have
Great video. I got tired of waiting for the oil to drain so I upgraded to the oil vac and just suck it out the dipstick hose...and then change the filter.
I have been watching a lot of your videos, they are , informative, educational, and entertaining. I have done a few of the same things you do as well, I like to watch how others will do the same job. Most times I find a few short cuts, and sometimes I think I might be able to help others. Overall, I enjoy watching others. T bone, you do very good work. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and abilities with others. Even if someone is afraid to jump in the middle of a job that looks difficult , they can still learn and listen to a repair shop, and can get sn idea if that shop knows what to do, or should go some place else. That Sir is a great help as well. 😊
YOU ARE PRETTY GREAT TO WATCH. MY DAD ALWAYS TOLD ME TO NEVER WASTE A MOVE WHEN WORKING. WE WERE HOUSE FRAMERS BUT THAT RULE GOES FOR ALL AND YOU HAVE IT DOWN.
I really like your channel because you don`t waste a lot of time with useless information and do very fast work and for me and quite a large number of others that is what it takes to hold some ones attention. Keep em coming.
Great video. I own a Honda HT-R 3009 thats about 36 years old, still starts and runs good, however it smokes a lot but once it warms up it the smoking stops. Around my area almost all the small engine repair masters have retired.
Great instructional video. I always learn something. You have no wasted motion in your repair. Every movement is toward accomplishing your goal. Thankyou Sir.
I have this same engine in my mower; about 10 years old now. It runs very well and is tough as nails! After seeing what it takes to clean the carburetor and make repairs, I won’t spending my time are monies making repairs! I will junk it and be done with it. I got my monies worth out of it. I will purchase a new one.
My '04 JD with 20hp Intek still runs great, but I did replace the carb about 5 yrs ago. Chinese copy was $30, BS was $90, thats a no-brainer for me. I've rebuilt the deck twice, put a fuel pump on it once, and otherwise just kept the oil and filters changed. It may last forever.
Sorry! Back again. I think I like the fact this was done at a time when it was warm and snow free! Also still get a kick that BCers are not the only oil tasters (well outside of us and thoughs weird Alberta oil people!).
Now that was a great how to. If a man wasn't paying attention to his work? You would be getting a basket full of parts and a broken down machine. Nice one here.
I really enjoy your down to earth explanation on how to repair lawn mower issues. If I could make a suggestion. Put more links to the equipment you use doing your repairs.
What errand can possibly be more important Mrs T! You can’t leave your man filming from more than 100yards away, 🤣🤣 He did an OK job but he ain’t no camera guy. Love the music in the video, always awesome. Baby came dancing in from the kitchen 🤣🤣. We are stealth camping tonight, you’re right brother. You did a great repair and a great video once again brother. WHAT A MESS! I commented too soon, who is cleaning that up, see what happens when you start doing stuff on your own!!! ☹️
I told Mrs T you would be having a fit because she wasn't filming, she cracked up when she read your comment. Glad we got Baby dancing Lol. Thanks as always my friend.
IF I had a shop like T-Bone's, I would never use Chinese Scamazon/Fleabay carbs. Either replace with OEM or rebuild with OEM parts. All the OEM carbs that customers said to junk, I would rebuild and toss on the next customer's engine. Saves a lot of time and effort. Hi sir your mower is fixed. Just as they drive back home and hit the easy chair. Keep a couple 2 barrels like this video and the 594593 Walbro for the single cylinder jobs on the shelf, ready to go.
Great upload and info as always T bone. Good thing this got caught before washing out the cylinder and causing serious damage. Hope all is well your way!
I've used tin foil to make a custom shaped drain channel under oil filters located in tight spots or to get around weird geometry. Easy to make in situ and dispose of when done.
That's great, yes they work very good. I made one and use it everyday. I also did a video of it which includes some failed attempts. Thanks for watching.
Would have appreciated seeing how you cleaned up the mess. I have tried many methods but haven't found the best one yet. Good to watch someone who knows what he is doing!
Thank you very much. We use kitty litter for the concrete floor, works great and cheap. On the machine I use a spray bottle of purple power and rinse with garden hose sprayer. We thank you for watching and commenting my friend
I've got the same mower, but someone replaced the engine with a Briggs and Stratton 19.5 twin....apparently the factory engine is infamous for not working well, and the B&S is the go to replacement.
It's interesting how that mower model had a gas tank that could gravity-feed the carb with no need for the pulse fuel pump, but how when not in use the fuel pump didn't prevent the gas from traveling to the faulty needle valve that caused the near hydro-lock and smoky condition. Of course, for that model, even with the fuel pump, an inline fuel shut-off value is helpful. But, conversely, I have zero-turn mower with that same V-twin Briggs with the Nikki two-barrel carb where the gas tank is in front and lower, so it cannot possibly gravity-feed to the carb when not in use, even if the fuel pump were capable of running interference (which you seemed to have proved that one cannot), so I don't bother to put an inline fuel shut-off on my unit. Otherwise, you did seem to say that the anti-backfire fuel solenoid cannot prevent a hydro-lock condition on a gravity-fed fuel system that has a faulty needle valve or faulty float, and I agree with you that the fuel solenoid probably can give many a false sense of security in seeming to prevent a hydro lock condition and/or fuel in the oil, i.e., a fuel shut-off is still in order to prevent that.
You are correct my friend. Also check the fuel pump pulse line for fuel. Sometimes the fuel pump is the issue. Fuel can still flow thru a fuel pump gravity feeding.
Long story short I was given a "smoking" snapper riding mower with 500cc Briggs. The feet places aren't even scuffed. Guy had to much money and little time. Oil level, air filter, carb, Head gasket , any ideas , I haven't had a chance to look at it yet , but I feel it's got to be simple fix ✌️😎
"Yall hold on" finally small engine mechanic quality video. I dont need a million words to describe how to take the cover off of a briggs engine haha let's just get to the meat and potatoes here.
Your video was excellent! I’m a tool junky and wish you had a link for the tools you used so I could buy them when I do this to my mower. My riding mower randomly runs rough. Puffs out smoke and then runs normal again. I hope to diagnose the problem myself. 🤞
I'm not sure where I got them. They don't have a name brand on them. They are called line clamp pliers. You can find them online if not locally. Thanks for watching!
So the needle and seat caused the engine to hydro lock, it happens. It is a Nikki carburetor, it happens more with this brand than others. Just cleaned one today jyst like it today on a zero turn, it happens.
My neighbor accidentally put diesel fuel in his rider and it smokes to high heaven is it fixable or does he need to replace the motor, thanks inadvance
I am working on a kholer 24 hp 7000 series and tried an aftermarket carb, but it surged like crazy when I started the engine. there was two little pieces extra one has threads on it but I don't know where it goes on the carb. most aftermarket carbs have these two extra parts one is brass with threads a d a round head about 1/4" long with a screw head the other piece is aluminum round piece thin at the bottom and thicker at the top. it's aboue1/2" long .where do they go? is this why the carb is surging?
Check out our Store my-store-cf5bc2.creator-spring.com
Acer do you have a video or showing how to set a hydraulic valve on a Havana riding lawn mower
It's a pleasure to watch someone work who knows what he's doing. Good job.

These channels are a great way to get educated. Thanx T Bone.🇬🇧👍🔧
Glad you like them! Thanks for watching my friend.
I have a hose that fits on the oil drain, it helps to make less of a mess. The bottle trick will help a lot on the filter. Great tips in this video!
T-bone has the best background music!

The genus that made that eye brawl thing had ethanol gas in mind ethanol gas is ten 15 percent corn oil add the corn oil doesnt addemize to a vapor

Thank you for the video. Apart from causing smoke, can the addressed fault cause the oil to quickly darken? I have both things happening.
Good to pull the cord quickly on small air dye grinders or they refuse to start. Just a free hint.
🤣 🤣 heck yeah too funny
Forgot to check the plastic intake for flatness.
Great job I learned a lot thinks
First mistake is putting 87 Octane in the mower
what is the name of the tool you use to check the carb. for leaking
It's a Mity Vac MV8500
Hola Sir great video 👍 what is the name of the pump u used to pressure up? Thanks again Sir 👍
It's a Mityvac 8500. Thanks for watching my friend. Glad you liked it.
Great job on the carb!! Question. what is the name of the vaccuum tester you used in this filming?
Mityvac MV8500. Thanks for watching and commenting my friend.
Where you get your fuel CLAMP off tool from or what brand you got ?
I'm not sure where I got them. They don't have a name brand on them. They are called line clamp pliers. You can find them online if not locally. Thanks for watching!
So the needle and seat caused the engine to hydro lock, it happens. It is a Nikki carburetor, it happens more with this brand than others. Just cleaned one today jyst like it today on a zero turn, it happens.
Yes sir, correct. Thanks so much for watching and commenting my friend.
My neighbor accidentally put diesel fuel in his rider and it smokes to high heaven is it fixable or does he need to replace the motor, thanks inadvance
If diesel was put in fuel tank. Just drain it and fill with gas, it should be fine. Although it may take a while to quit smoking
