This video was recorded with the Sony a7R IV + FE 24mm F1.4 GM and FE 90mm F2.8 Macro G lenses. The Rode Wireless Go and Rode Lavalier GO were used for the audio. Хобби
It took me 20 minutes on google & all that came up was A7 iii, 2 seconds on RUclips & this video came up straight away. Thanks for making this video. Exactly what I was looking for.
Thank you ! As I first time Sony user , your clarity and pace of presenting is perfect for following instructions. Most others are way too fast for someone who is getting to grips with the Sony menu system!! 🙏🙏
VERY well explained! Now I fully understand how to set my recordings.
Thanks so much!
Glad it helped! :)
Thanks! Life saving tutorial! ❤
Man, really appreciate for you hard work! I visited your website and checked out the A7iv memory cards guide. Thank you!🙏🏼💪🏻
Thank you. Really glad to hear it helped you out. Thanks for checking out the memory card guide too! :)
This was very helpful! Thanks.
Thank you - A very simple and organised guide
This is really very helpful. Thank you for sharing this.
Thank you for the video!
Thanks again Tim!
thank you so much for your good explanation. this was very helpful!
Thanks for this one. Good video.
Thanks a lot! Very healpful!
gracias por la explicacion, clara y precisa.
Thanks for that Tim and the SD card guide. Very helpful. I've added a fast Kingston 256gb card through your blog page. 👍
Hey Mark, how are you? Surely you haven't traded in your a1 for the a7IV? The Kingston cards are great, especially for the price, although I noticed they have gone up a little recently. Thanks for using my links! :)
Perfect. this is exactly what I wanted!
Thank you 🙏🏾
Great video, very clear, many thanks!
Glad that it helped! :)
Very Nice Video! I have a question.. I set that videos go on card 1 (the expensive) and raws go on SD 2 (normal card). The "issue" is to playback when I press the play botton..it goes either on one memory or the other depending if I just recorded a video or just shoot a picture.. is there anyway to show all files from both memories just ordered by time of creation??? Hope I've been clear..
Like if you had one memory and you scroll through videos or photos .. cuz atm I have to go and select the memory of preference
Thank you so much for this beginner's friendly video. When I choose jpeg+raw and sorted the raw files to one card and the jpeg to the other, why does the camera automatically choose the compressed raw & fine jpeg? I want to get the best quality possible. Can I change them to lossless compressed (rawL) & extra fine jpeg?
Thank you for the explanation of sort recording RAW Slot 1 and JPEG Slot 2 with CF card in Slot 1.
Glad you found it helpful! 🙂
Perfect !
Thank you ❤
Hey man! Thanks for this. It’s still a little overwhelming for a new comer like me. I have a7iv… can I put my Sony tough card v90 into slot 1 and specify just video to that and then use a cheaper v30 Sandisk in slot 2 just for raw still images?
Thank you !
Nice Reviews. One question, can you use a cfexpress card and a v90 card for simultanious record such as back up. I want to use the cfexpress as main then v90 will be as a back up for still shot? Hope this make sense
Thanks, Tim.
Thanks for this review. Can you explain in more detail what you mean at 3:04 ?
I didnt quite understand what you mean. I'm a wedding photographer and I'm buying this camera. My idea would be to have a 256gb sd card in slot one and than rotate my 64gb cards in slot two while keeping the 256gb in slot 1 until its full. Is this not possible?
Super informative. Thank you brother
Glad that you think so!
Thank You
Thanks!
Thanks 👍👌
Can you record different video file types simultaneously? If you have a fast card on slot 1 and shot 10bit there and 8bit on slot 2 on a slower card for example
Will it overheat the camera quicker if i record film and save to two cards at the same time?
Hi! Great video. I have my camera setup so that I am saving stills to slot 1, and video to slot 2. When I press the "play" button to view what I have captured though, it seems to only read from 1 of the slots. For instance, it will tell me I have stills and no video, or it will tell me I have video and no stills. How does the camera choose what slot to read? How can I tell it to read from slot 1 or slot 2, or even better just to read both of them?
Thanks Tim, needed a reminder of how to do this. Clear. Just got my A7iv (upgrade from a Canon 350D!!) so finding my way 🙂
Glad that it helped Peter. Hope you enjoy your new a7 IV! :)
@@AlphaShooters enjoying, but wowee so much has changed in 17 years
Can I set a recording video to slot 1 and taking photos to slot 2?
Have you ever encountered these settings reverting by themselves. I set them up like shown, RAW to both cards, I rotate between M, S, A modes and when i change to them, they seem to forget what they were set to. Ive the latest firmware, Ive tried all of my cards too
What will happen if you're in simultaneous recording but the caoacity of the sd card on slot 1 is bigger thatn the one in slot 2? Can I change the one on slot 2 and then continue recording without changing the sd card in slot 1?
Hi, I want to save un both memory cards simultaneously but when I switch from stills to movies and come back to stills, the camera uses only slot 1 so I have to change the settings every time I stitch from photo to video mode. I’m doing something wrong? Sony A7IV with latest firmware
i can only record video to both cards with 2 uhs2 cards ,if i have a sony cfxA + sandisk uhs2 pro it wont ! any ideas for a fix?
Thank you! I could not seem to figure how to do slot 1 RAW, slot 2 JPEG. It was there… I just didn't know how to get it! Thx.
Glad to help Erik. Enjoy the a7IV!
I need your help: I want Photo raw and Video files on cf-express card, and slot 2 for jpeg only, can i do that? I don't want simultanious to both cards
Thanks for this great content. What about a video comparing A9 vs A7iV (vs A7III) autofocus? For birds in flight for instance? Thanks in advance
Thank you! I will be doing a video comparing the a7III vs a7IV soon with birds in flight, I just need some better weather. I probably won't compare the a9 vs a7IV but I can already tell you that the a9 will net you more keepers, it's still a good way ahead of the a7IV in terms of AF performance.
@@AlphaShooters Thanks!
I cant get my A7 to show 2 cards in Image Quality Settings like shown here. I can set Recording Media for camera and Video for each but can't select slot 1 and 2 for camera. Format, playback and record to either card works so there doesnt seem to be a card malfunction. Switched cards around both slots, nothing changed. What am I missing?
I cannot shoot with only one card . There is a setting to change that? Thanx
Vey nice video…. Lately I am having an issue… don’t know if it’s the LR upgrade or my card settings…. When I down load my card into LR photos are not in order of date and time they are taken in …. Causes me a big headache
Hi Sally. This won't be a memory card issue. You might want to check the date/time settings in the a7 IV and also whether or not Lightroom is set to sort images by capture time.
I would like to see how better AF is in comparison with A7III/A7RIII and how much A1 is better. Glad you got the A7IV :)
I will do an AF comparison with the a7iii/a7Riii and a7IV soon. I don’t currently own the a1 though so that might take a little longer!
Hi, so my A7IV has this weird issue:
1) When I’m on Video mode my Record Media Settings are set to Slot 1 (Video) & Slot 2 (RAW Stills).
2) When I turned the Knob to Photo, the Record Media Settings automatically changes to Slot 1 for Both Video & Stills but the Stills are shooting at JPEG. Slot 2 becomes Empty.
3) When I turned the knob back to Video Mode again now the settings are set to Slot 1 (Video) & Slot 2 (JPEG Stills).
Note: My Slot 1 is V90 Card, My Slot 2 is V30 Card.
Am i missing something out or am I making a mistake? I’m confused as heck lol.
how to delete files from slot 1? only slot 2 i see at display ..i have cards inside at both of the slots..
You need to change the playback slot. helpguide.sony.net/ilc/2110/v1/en/contents/TP1000649103.html?search=Memory%20card
Sony a6400 Back Button Focus - Will it work with flying birds? What should be the setup of flying birds? How to focus lock on BIF?
Back button focus works just the same as using the shutter button to focus, you can use either for shooting birds or any other subject, it really just comes down to your preference and what works for you. Providing you are shooting in AF-C mode then any of the focus modes on the a6400 will do a good job of locking on and tracking birds. The specific tracking modes will work better if you have other subjects or obstacles in front of your subject that you don't want the focus to lock on to.
How do I quickly change between card slots on the fly?? No one seems to have an answer for this and it's super frustrating!
I don't think there's an option to switch from shooting to slot 1 to slot 2 on the fly I'm afraid. You can select the "auto switch media" option to automatically switch over from slot 1 to 2 when slot 1 is full, or vice versa.
2nd time in a month my first card slot will not close. The card will not fully lock in. 2nd slot is completely fine. All my settings are set to go to card 2, and still the camera says no card. Couldn’t be more pissed off about this.
Jk fine 33m wasn’t showing on the red media settings for me
I find it extremely counterintuitive that you can't hit buffer with loseless raw on 300mbs card. I mean... Why don't I just stick to it then? I'd understand if lossy compression was bufferless, but lossless... It makes me lean toward twin 300mbs cards in loseless compression mode, for redundancy, as opposed to one 800mbs card.
I can’t find my video files. Panicking
i guess its only for Photo not in video,.
