Been using my A7IV for a year and didn’t realize I could save the priority mode to a recall setting! I love the recall settings and shoot manual most of the time but I do miss shooting in AP mode on occasion. This was really helpful thank you!
Thanks for the clear and concise instructions. Helped me a lot as I start shooting for my channel so I can have the same exact look and feel for each video!
I had a recent motocross shoot that required me to constantly switch between photo, 4k 24 and 120 HD on my A73. I spent the entire weekend frantically jumping through the menu to get the right settings between laps when all I had to do was program this. Live and learn lol, Thanks man
Thanks for a no-nonsense summary of Son'y Memory Recall. No wasted time with meaningless intros :) Have been somewhat confused about this for some time. Thanks for sorting this out for me [liked & subscribed]. Using a6700.
Excellent instructions. I have a question: I have found that the camera - when shooting manual, has a bad habit of putting a * on my screen and freexze the settings. the only way I can find to unlock it, is turning the camera off and then back on. Do you know how to eliminate that function?
Thanks! Might be that you're accidentally holding down the Fn button too long? I think by default that triggers the "Lock Operation Parts" setting, which disables adjusting all the physical controls. You can disable it in the menus.
Excellent! I was just thinking about this, and about to search for it. Glad I started following your channel! I am getting back into shooting after several years, switched from Canon to Sony and really appreciate your tips, tricks and teachings, Andrew. THANKS!
Unfortunately not...I still usually grab it in regular photo/video mode, switch into memory recall, then set the kelvin value back to the number it found.
If I register camera settings to dial location "1" for say a legacy adapted manual focus lens, can I always go back to my default/typical autofocus settings at dial location "M" or do I need to use another dial slot, say "2" to keep these settings available? TY
Either/both should work - M would still work if that's what it's always set to for you, or you could do a separate memory location (e.g. 2) for AF settings.
@@andrewsaracenigame changer indeed! one thing that really bothers me however is that you cant set a custom white balance when in 1,2,3 mode. never really understood why though
I’m using Recall Custom Hold on a C1 button and it programmed to have a Continuous Shooting speed Hi+. So when I suddenly get a situation when I need to shoot something very dynamic (the person jumping for example) I hold my C1 button and while it is pressed I can shoot tons of photos in a seconds. But when I release the C1 button it became a normal continuous shooting speed
With the sony A7R5 how can you automatically save your last settings in photo and video. On my Nikon when I switched from say photo and went to video then returned to photo all the settings I las tused are still there. With Sony I have to keep readjusting
Check out my a7R V settings video around the 1:00:00 mark: ruclips.net/video/I2Nlp2J2Whc/видео.html There's a "Different Set for Still/Mv" setting you can toggle off/on so that your settings remain between photo and video.
@@andrewsaraceni yeah thanks just looked. I think my problem was, Im trying to do it working between C1/2/3, once I switched to manual my settings are ok moving back and forth, I've just got to remember to have the right frame rate set for what I need. Im trying to find if I can put frame rates in my function menu.
I need to store "Select Finder/Monitor" VF in Photo mode and Monitor in Video mode, how can I do that? The camera doesn't store these settings when I use "Camera Set. Memory". Am I doning it wrong?
I would think the main Memory Recall settings would capture that (i.e. use 1 for Photo, 2 for Video), but if it's a global setting irrespective of the mode you're in, you could just add it to the Quick Menu or Fn Menu, and toggle it from there.
Hi, how to delete these recall memories, I tried to format the settings and the device they are still there, for example when I’m in M mode it’s picking MR2, any help?
You might want to make sure your memory card doesn't have any default recall settings stored on it, or if you need them, back them up and then format the card.
Thank you for the response, the problem is even when I took out the memory cards still has the same issue, I already reset the camera and settings twice, I don’t need the settings as they are on the wrong button, what would you suggest?
@@dreamharmonics14 If you've fully reset the camera settings, and removed/cleared the memory cards, something else might be up. At that point, the camera should operate as it came from the factory.
Great video. Unlike my current Panasonic DH3, the a7RV has three sets of parameters stored separately. This is as it should be. My DH3 is a decent camera, but this massive design flaw makes is a major hassle to work with. I’m looking forward to getting my a7RV.

No, unfortunately not - those settings stay the same regardless of your memory presets.
