Wow , wow , wow I am just about to start my channel but see here I am . Finding guides for camera and your video feels like just posted for me Btw thanks for this information it helped a lot 🎉❤ Love from India
No problem, glad to hear this helped. Good luck with your channel!
Impossibly cheap for f0.95 50mm, I think everybody can now afford a proper mirrorless camera and lens, ofc for professionals its probably still mid when zoomed and needs ps for tons of chromatic aberration, for the rest of us its good enough.
Agreed! Even given the known flaws, it's a steal of a lens overall.
Great comparison. Thank you so much. I do have a question. Why is my Lightroom slower with te lossless M files (A7cr) than my A74 files. It's a huge difference for almost the same size. Thanks in advance.
No problem! It could be the MP difference between the cameras and resources needed to decompress, e.g. 33MP with the a7 IV, vs. 61MP with the a7C R (and a7R V, etc.).
@@andrewsaraceni Thanks!!
Is it posible to record SLOG3 outdoors in an environment with changing lights while you are moving ? Like the sun in different positions while moving … what Mode ? A or M ; and what happens to exposure +1.7 changing up and down because of the change of light ??
Yes this is possible - I'd still go with manual exposure, and aiming for +1 to +2 EV. You'd just need to consider where the scene starts and ends if shooting a sunset or sunrise exposure-wise. e.g. Start higher but not clipping highlights, and ending before it's too low (i.e. before below 0.0 EV).
I need the organizer for the 1560 with the clear pouches
It's this one: www.a-mode.hk/pelican1560-lid-organizer-lid1560a
You sir are a gentleman and a scholar!
😀Thanks, I appreciate it!
It is not the best performing 50mm lens, that is the Sony 50mm 1.4 GM and the Voigtländer APO-Lanthar 50mm 2.0, but I do not have any of those, because I really do not like the focal length 50mm, though this year I wanted a Lens that I could use at night time at ISO 100 (max ISO 320), so I got the Voigtländer Nokton 50mm 1.0 Aspherical Lens for that and it is very good for that purpose.
You're referring to the newer 50mm f/1.4 GM? I had heard optical, AF, etc. performance was similar, with the difference mainly being size, weight and cost. Haven't tried the Voigtlander, though I'd be curious to.
@@andrewsaraceni Yes the new Sony 50mm 1,4 GM Lens as I wrote, it performs better in optical image quality than the 50 1.2 GM, so there is also a lot of money to save. The Voigtländer is much more compact and cheaper, but built like a tank, so it will last much longer than GM Lenses.
Pelican thinks their products are worth gold prices...
Pricey, but you do get what you pay for. Nanuk is similar price-wise.
Hi Andrew, can I encrypt the SSD on mac in exFAT format?
The challenge with that is other OS's wont be able to decrypt it without using third-party software (e.g. TrueCrypt) that works on Mac, Windows, etc. So technically "yes", but not without some challenges and additional legwork.
Awwww!
Excellent and helpful video , short and to the point covering everything
Thanks Edward, glad you found it helpful!
Thanks so much for your insight and recommendations. I’m late to the party having just purchased a used Sony A7iii and just learning about it. Thanks again!
No problem, and welcome to the Sony family! The a7 III is still a fantastic camera today.
I bought an Aputure Amaran 150C on Aug 20, 2024, the equipment worked normally and disconnected from the Sidus Link app, deleted the app's light and when trying to do the BT reset to reconnect again, it always showed BT FAILED. I would like to know how to do a factory reset or what other way to solve the problem and get the Bluetooth working again so I can connect again with the Sidus Link and be able to use this feature.
I'd try different power sources with the light if you can, and see if the BT Reset behaves differently in any of those situations. Surprised (and sorry to hear) that this is still an issue folks are dealing with.
Thank you!!
No problem!
Can you save your settings to the card in slot #2 ? I do not have a card in slot #1. Good video, thank you.

There is another center telescoping section on the K&F tripod. Loosen the rubber knurled section just under the ball mount and you can pull out another section of the center stem!
Good to note!
Thanks for a good right to the core video.

since I'm having so much problem with the G drive, it was brought to my attention which drive is more suitable for the MacBook Pro so I don't have to run into this issue
All drives are compatible once you format them. But yes, some out of the box "Mac" ones might let you skip some steps in formatting and using them
Always very informative
Thanks!
Awesome video. Putting the aperture values into the description would help too.
Thanks! Something to consider for the next one (it's a lot to go through).
how is 500AH compared to 502 ?
Great question - I have a video coming up soon comparing many of Manfrotto's fluid heads. They're both solid options though for their price point.
Hi Andrew, Thank you so much for the video. So well described. I am stuck with how to record on a7rv externally to ninja V I have enabled external HDMi recording, I have just updated both devices to latest firmware(version 3 on camera and AtomOS 11.13.00) and still no luck, when I press record button it says to insert memory card. I removed it since its recording to sd card but not SSD. please help on this. Thank you!
No problem! You'll need an SSD to record from the Ninja, the memory card slot on it is used for adding LUTs, etc. You'd want to initiate recording on the Ninja itself so that the camera doesn't raise an error when triggering recording since there's no memory card in the camera body.
@ thanks for responding. I do have 1 tb ssd on ninja. When I click the red button it’s recording the screen. Could you please tell me which button to record?
@@redefinedevents6622 That sounds right - you're recording the output of your camera (i.e. what's showing on the Ninja's screen) from it directly. The Ninja doesn't have a dedicated record button otherwise, but there are setups where you can set the camera Rec button to control the Ninja.
@@andrewsaraceni I agree, but I see shutter speed, ISO and all the other camera info and even the aspect ratio with the black sides too, But how can I get the output recording as it would do to the sd card?

Hi Andrew, this is an excellent video - thank you! It saved me a ton of time and avoided a mistake I made before. You have a new sub. I'm checking out your other videos. Do you ever work in product photography?
Glad you enjoyed the video, and thanks for the sub! On a few occasions I have, but not regularly - usually lots of other gigs (e.g. weddings, concerts, corporate/commercial, real estate).
Just a word of advice, you absolutely do not want to overexpose, outdoors, you may want to overexpose Indoors, but you will destroy the footage over exposing outdoors. I've done this over and over again. Even the colors are off when you overexpose, outdoors. In bright sunlight, even with ND filters BE VERY CLOSE TO NORMAL EXPOSURE
It all depends by how much you do it, and ensuring your highlights aren't clipped/compromised. But that's true regardless with shooting Log.
From what ive heard, its best to be causious about the situations you use the magnetic lanyard in (and i wouldn't trust it for action scenarios, apparently some people have had the camera detach while they were jogging)
That's a good point - definitely fine for average usage (e.g. walking), but anything more intense I'd use a secure mount.
I have 2 of them (a 32GB model and a 128GB model) I discovered that when recording 4K60, at least for me, i only get about 20 minutes when using just the camera module before the battery dies (I had magnetically attached the camera module directly to a machine (and the machine nearly damaged another camera that i was using))
Good to know, I'd definitely recommend the Power Module for anyone doing 4K 60p or 120p. I use it even in most cases filming 4K 24p.
Blablablablblablabla ... man this guy is talking .... blablablabla ... still talking ... blablablabla ...
1510 is Made in Germany.
Mine both have a "Made in the USA" sticker, but they may handle manufacturing differently for some cases/markets.
Awesome. This is pure gold -- thank you!
No problem, Rusty!
I just bought the Samsung T7 disk but the option APFS won't show on my Mac Sonoma 14.3.1. also I made sure to select ''show all devices''. Any ideas? Thank you :)
Are you on the Erase step, and you've selected the right device? It should be an option, but it's possible you might not have the option if you're coming from an older Mac that's been upgraded over time (i.e. that's still using Mac OS Extended).
I'm watching this from Poland right now, but I grew up in Delaware. I'm def hearing some sort of Delaware / South Jersey accent. Key words - waterproof "wooderproof" / video "videoh" I love it, brings me home!
haha. Good ear, you got me there - born and raised Philly / South Jersey native. There's no place like home. 😀
HI Andrew Saraceni ! Why does your camera look like it’s using Picture Profile 11 (PP11)? Can I also shoot timelapse in S&Q mode with S-Log3?
I use S-Cinetone for shooting most things, which is why it's set to that. But yes, you can shoot timelapses in S&Q mode in any of the PPs, S-Log3 included.
Thanks @@andrewsaraceni
Do a review of the SGimage f/0.95. I love that lens.
Haven't gotten to try it yet, but Id be curious to test it out.
Yes boss!
I like Lowe Pro bags, and they last forever. However, I wish they would use subdued labeling. Their orange lettering screams camera gear in here.
That's fair, though I wonder how many people outside of us photo/video folks actually would recognize that.
Great review. Thank you. Excellent rendering and character.
No problem Michaela, I appreciate that!
The purple fringing is impressive.
Not uncommon considering f/0.95, but it isn't an issue around f/1.4 and above.
@@andrewsaraceni True. The only F/0.95 lens I had from ZhongYi had strange flare instead, as well as, not being usably sharp at maximum aperture. I gotta think a while before buying.
Thank you for an excellent tutorial! I am not a tech person, so these things are always problematic for me. Also, the video I watched first by someone else went extremely fast. When someone speeds through the specific steps, it's worthless to me. He also skipped the simpler approach of doing this in FCPx and went straight to the more complex approach that you saved for the second half of your video. So now I will go through all my saved projects that almost filled a 12 terabyte drive and I will empty the bulk of used space on there. Thanks again for helping the "technically challenged."
No problem, and happy to hear that this helped you! Tech people explaining things to less/non-technical audiences is always a challenge, so I'm glad that this was easy enough to follow along.
@@andrewsaraceni Here's an update. My external 14TB drive was overflowing with, as it turns out, render files from all my projects from the last few years. I need to keep these projects for a variety of reasons as they are not for outside clients. So I went through the entire drive and deleted all the render files. The drive went from full capacity to only 500GB (that's only 3.5% of the storage space). Another bonus is the small amount of space used will allow me to move these files to my other external drive which backs up to the cloud and the drive I back up monthly to a spare. Thanks again.
Thank you so much bro such good block of instructions and very informative!!
No problem, glad you found it helpful!
Good to see 3rd party manufacturers follow the aperture ring trend! Is the aperture ring declickable for video use?
Agreed! It's not declickable, but it's pretty quiet so you can do seamless transitions for video.
Musicians stomping on the floor has same decremental effect. Asked a singer to do the closeups in socks.
Yeah, good point, or any crowd movement really - I've had the same thing happen filming dancing footage on sticks, etc.
😮
That was my reaction too. 🙂
i have 2. please dont buy !
Any reason why? Have you had issues?
@@andrewsaraceni After a few uses, one battery died suddenly, and the other battery heats up in the middle and discharges itself after a day, outside the camera. Charging with an original Sony charger when the batteries are cold. The camera is a9iii. Advantage: Their working time is the same as the original Sony. Those who are enthusiastic about the cheap will end up paying dearly...
@@shtrudel-pu1cm Interesting, I haven't had that happen with mine. They weren't stored in any extreme temperatures, were they? Might've just gotten a bad batch.
@@andrewsaraceni No, I don't take pictures outside the building. The temperatures are not extreme. I bought 2, 2 were destroyed.. I don't think it's a matter of luck.
Hey, great video I just got this cage for my A7Siii, but I have one issue with it. My thumb does not fit underneath the cage to access the star/stop record button What do you do to start/stop recording?
Thanks! It wont fit from the rear, but you can get to the Rec button with more room from the front. I use my index finger to control the button that way, but you could also program the Shutter button, etc. to control recording if needed.
Thank you! This caused me so much stress and so much lost time! Thank you again New sub
