I liked the implication that there are dozens of Autobots throughout the world who chill in different continents
They probably scattered after the end of bbm to avoid being detected. Also to keep watch for any decepticons that may land on the planet
That’s always been a thing, even in the bayverse.
It´s just an excuse to try to make sense of nigga Mudflap and samurai Drift.
I mean it makes sense, when you remember that there are 3 Autobots who were seen flying down to Earth at the end of Bumblebee, that aren't seen in this movie, so that explains that
@@danielmedela8725 but that’s not the same Continuity?
The way Scourge’s Terrorcon ‘mask’ get dramatically ripped off makes me think at one point he was supposed to be future Optimus
@America Chavez I mean he’s definitely based off of Black Convoy/Nemesis Prime/Scourge he’s a big black truck that serves Unicron. Scourge from RID2001 does end up becoming Grand Scourge and becomes a unicronian herald. They are definitely loosely similar. But beyond names and being a truck they are very different characters.
I don’t blame you on thinking that, this was an actual theory up to the release of the movie
@@kevinp.h157it came from like the first plot leak I think. I remember the wars and threads of arguing over it.
I Hope they do an extended cut where they add all of the stuff they cut so we could see what it truly was
Also I loved this movie but it felt like the shortest 127 minutes of my life
Yeah, I need to see what the full length cut of this is.
Felt similarly - it was a long movie that still felt rushed. The human scenes were Bayverse cringe and setup that I gave zero fucks about.
@@kray97 tbh that’s all u , everyone likes the humans
That last sentence was exactly what I said whenever I left the theater
True. We've grown to like the characters, so we'd like to see as much of them as possible. Even if they were merely hanging out together.
I saw a toy commercial which showed a crocodile/gator mech - which was clearly not in the movie.
My only gripe with the movie is how some characters felt underused. Like Stratosphere, for example, seemed like a super cool character, with his size, accent, personality (the little that was shown), and his age. It would have been interesting to learn his history or even see him in the final battle. Or Cheetor and Rhinox who had little to no lines or real purpose.
I don't know that there's a "Somehow" in there. He's just flat out underused.
He was probably more prominent in a longer cut of the movie.
You know it’s sad when this movie fits better into the Bayverse then TLK was.
I mean literally anything fits Bayverse better than TLK, GI Joe Snake Eyes fits Bayverse better than TLK.
literally XD
Does it?
I might be getting confused with my transformers lore here. Mainly coz I don't give a shet.
But Optimus and the gang arrive on earth for the first time in the first transformers.
@@WL1264 it's basically a soft reboot. Bumblebee movie, and this film sets a new reboot storyline, but the issue is, is that the film maker says it's in line with the older movies which doesnt make sense
@@WL1264 yes. And in TLK, Bumblebee was around in WW2, Starscream was there during WW1 as a biplane, etc.
This Optimus managed to make me feel how the G1 fans must've felt when they saw Bay Prime brutally kill his enemies. It feels very off and uncomfortable seeing this Prime be passive-aggressive (or just straight-up aggressive a lot of the time) with how much he cursed Scourge out and at the end just straight up go "THEN DIE!" to Unicron. Sure Bay Prime is brutal and all "I'll kill you!" and "Give me your face" and "We'll kill them all" but he's still not like this.
Yeah, when Optimus was like "I dont want you watching those Earth Movies any more" I was like "Yo what the Fuck?"
I think all of this just means how good of a director Steve Caple Jr. is with how he makes a good* movie with all the cuts and studio interference.
That depends on who had final edit, because if he did, then yes it's all him, but if it was a mess that was salvaged in the edit by a different editor, than that may not hold so true.
I mean a lot of what's holding this movie together is ADR.
What’s the asterisk for?
@@kevinp.h157 hesitation, I would call this movie good but, y'know? y'know.
NGL, I do like the idea of Optimus being more of a wearier, short-tempered leader trying to rekindle his 'be strong enough to be gentle' mentality amidst the war. Having to see so many of your troops fall and keeping those left alive as best as possible would probably push even the most kindest of souls to their limits somewhere, but the thought that they're still able to keep some of that peace within them does make good character potential if you ask me.
The problem with this movie is that they don’t address that at all throughout the movie prime is literally mentioning at every possible moment that he wants to kill scourage and it’s just awful. After that hill fight in Peru someone should’ve come to prime and be like “Prime are you ok, listen we all miss bumblebee but you can’t be going on suicide missions on your own we need you around because without you we’re directionless” that’s when you could have primal come in and they have a talk about revenge and why their soldiers are more important. Finally the pay off is instead of prime coming at scourage alone he’s with primal and they avenge their comrades together.
Not whatever the movie did.
@@alc4528 Thimg is that, as the movie establishes, Prime views these Autobots as family. Like an older brother would. With this in mind, feeling as though he’s the reason they’ve been stranded and away from home for 7 years, and the death of Bumblebee…I think the reaction is entirely valid. And even though he *is* brutal (more than I’d like, I’ll admit.) It’s *quick*. He’s never draws out the deaths, he does it quickly and efficiently. Overall, he is a smidge more violent than I’d like, but it’s not excessive and the behavior is given a directly stated rationale behind it.
@@tfan2222 problem is they didn’t show that. They had to have the humans explain that.
@@trashboat5388 true, I like the idea but it just wasn’t done well and they didn’t show it at all.
Yep.
I wonder if the Transit scene would make Prime’s attitude make more sense here; since we know in that bit, transit was supposed to mention how he blew his ship up just to stop Optimus from leaving. Which implies that the plan maybe was to have the autobots all over the universe regroup on earth, have someone bring a ship and then go back to cybertron in greater numbers, but the decepticons somehow found out, stopped that from happening and now keep sending assassins to kill the autobots they know are stranded
i think it would make prime's attitude more understandabble since transit is basically laughing at prime about the autobots basically losing the war, the decepticons rulling cybertron, and the decepticons sending assassins to hunt the scattred autobots this also would make prime needs of the transwarp keys more justifiable
This movie took a lot of inspiration from Transformers: Prime. Optimus's design looks similar to his Prime counterpart. Mirage's personality is like Smokescreens. Weapon designs were also inspired from Transformers: Prime
Optimus Prime looks nothing like TFP Optimus and being the kid appeal character has been shared by many older transformers
Yeah, it really feels a lot more like Prime than it does G1, Beast Wars, or Bay.
I get your point about the stakes being set really high, but they didn't really defeat Unicron in this film. Sure they defeated his troops and put a stop to his plan, but said troops consisted of three dudes and a bunch on mindless drones and all they had to do to stop Unicron's plan was to destroy a key. Unicron's still out there and he's doing just fine physically. I think the Decepticons and Predacons still have a chance of posing a threat to our heroes if they appear in the next one.
Yeah and people act like the bumblebee movie didn’t have world ending stakes in it is insane to me it was just sidelined for Charlies drama and bumblebee to goof around
I feel like if they started with Megatron, it would've started out fine. Then in the third film, Scourge, Megatron and Unicron team up.
@@TonyAngelo98 I disagree. I actually loved how they didn't make Megatron the main baddies! Especially considering the ending to the movie with the reveal of GI Joe. Solidifies this as far away from a Bayverse connection as possible! Had they introduced Megatron, I could see the whole ending be of Megatron being frozen and the introduction of Sector 7, which then means it's a prequel of the Bayverse and that's absolutely something we do not want!
Plus, the introduction of GI Joe makes you think if they are going the Marvel UK comics route (by the way, great way to show love to the older fans in the UK)
Cope. Unicron is incompetent af in rotb 😂
@@ZackarySchejbalCODBO2RGM2 Isn't Sector Seven already in the Bumblebee movie?
I absolutely hated how optimus was characterized in this movie. His little conversation with bumblebee genuinely made me want to leave the theater. If Peter Cullen hated saying a few lines in the Bayverse then I'm GENUINELY FUCKING BAFFLED he even stayed in the production of this movie.
Yeah where he was like "I don't want you to go to that Drive in Theater any more" like bumblebee liking Earth culture was some how an affront to Optimus that he thought he should control out of Bumblebee.
Its like there were so many chefs arguing that the line cooks were left to make ratatouille and serve it before any chef noticed
I mean they had 5 years to notice.
@@PerspectiveEnd minus 3 years for the flu
@@PerspectiveEnd I think Bumblebee's incredible reception doubled with the pandemic really messed things up.
I 100% agree with this review
You’re not blinded by the hype but rather telling your honest opinion about the movie
Love that
I wish to see the movie soo bad, however it’s not gonna come out in Japan until THE 4TH OF AUGUST. I have no words, as Japan is the only country so far that I’ve seen that is releasing this late. I wish everyone else a great time watching it, while I avoid Rotb content
Sorry to hear that. That sucks. You should just Pirate it at that point. They aren't doing you any favors so why should you do one for them.
I heard they did the same with the new John wick film 🤔 also sorry to hear that
On the one hand it's a bummer you can't see a movie yet when you really want to see it.
On the other hand you live in Japan.
@@Jayce_Alexander yeah that pretty much evens it out
Greetings from Russia, we don't even have a realise date for this movie
I feel like the whole “who should’ve killed who” with the bad guys thing could’ve been fixed simply by (spoilers)
having Battletrap poison Airazor instead of Scourge, which makes Primal’s brutality in that kill a lot more cathartic. I will say, both Prime and Primal have reason to want to kill Scourge in the movie, but Primal has more because Scourge killed Apelinq and led to Airazor’s death, whereas Scourge “kills” Bee and Mirage but not really. If we make it so Battletrap killed Airazor not only does it give him something more to do like Nightbird and Scourge, it means Prime would have at least equal reason in the moment to kill Scourge since he nearly killed bee and, at that specific point in time, killed Mirage.
As far as the "infinity-former" thing: unless I missed something, Mirage was the only character who demonstrated that capability. As far as I'm concerned, that's something special _he_ can do, perhaps related somehow to holomatter.
So not only can he make Holograms, but he has this other Unrelated Superpower, and they just don't call attention to it?
That'd be another problem because if that's a unique ability they need to make that clear so we don't expect it of others.
@@PerspectiveEnd I didn't see any of the other Transformers doing it.
@@Waspinator1998 Bumblebee does it late in the movie. For the first half he turns into a regular 90s Camaro, but during the final battle he's the off-rode cross Camaro. Also, because he scanned both a jeep and a beetle in Bumblebee, that might mean he can still turn into either of those if he has a reason too.
@@maxmocs5008 He gets a rollcage and some more lights when he turns into the offroad mode. That's hardly the same as Mirage turning into a garbage truck, a Ferrari, an Indy car, and a Porche. And until we see Bumblebee turn into either a jeep or a beetle again without needing to re-scan them, that doesn't mean much.
I finally watched the movie recently and I actually like it less than most of the Bay Films. The whole movie just felt so hollow and devoid of any real joy or passion. Even the visuals weren't as cool. The camera angles and placement of the CGI in certain scenes made the Transformers in this look so fake. It was like watching a fan made film. And I know that final battle was nothing but a big ol green screen. I like how Michael Bay at least mostly used physical sets and actual locations for his films. Not to mention, he was really good about capturing the scale of the Transformers by panning the cameras at various high and low angles.
I do understand how you feel, it's a very empty movie, and yeah Bay did use more practical sets, but I will argue that he didn't give a shit about the Framing of the CGI characters so they were constantly out of frame when they shouldn't be.
But yes this movie is Bland AF.
I hope they release the full version.
I'd be very interested to see a complete version of the movie.
I think all this movie needed was just like 35 - 45 more minutes to just flesh things out and better explain concepts and uses ideas (like Prime's attitude, arcee and wheeljack relationship, Cheetor and Rhinox as characters, the terrorcons veing killed, and a deeper relationship between airazor and Primal as to make her dearh more impactful)
But seeing the large audience positivity on this makes me wonder how this movie changes transformers. The bay movies made Optimus more stoic, and it seems to have changed bumblebee's alt mode to a carmero like car permanently. I wonder how these movies will change the perception of characters. The biggest characters I think would be changed because of the movie are Mirage and Primal, since their the only not non-entities other the Prime and Bee.
Personally I'm not sad to see Arcee and Wheeljacks Relationship not be a thing, I'm not really big on that ship, and why waste time on the middle of a relationship that was not established to the audience from it's beginnings. That's just not very narratively satisfying.
I worry that it's going to infect the Google searches for the BW characters like it did for the G1 guys so it's hard to find what you are looking for.
But I don't know if this movie is going to be enough of a hit to keep hasbro afloat honestly. It's not doing amazingly.
@@PerspectiveEndthe fact that the acid trip that is Asteroid City is doing better than this just makes lose some of the faith I have in humanity. I bet a lot of money that the ONLY reason that people went to see that was because of the actors in the movie rather than it’s acid trip of a plot.
Mirage and Jazz because of this movie are now one literally one of my top 5 characters ever
Well glad it gave you an Appreciation for Jazz.
@@PerspectiveEnd jazz can hit
In regards to Mirage being able to transform into whatever he wants I remember my initial reaction to that being something along the lines of "Oh he's using his hologram powers" but after I thought about it I realized that yes he was just changing shape without scanning anything. I did like the small Easter egg to his original alt mode, but it was one of many little things that brought this film down from an 8 to a 7 for me.
Yeah I thought it was his illusion tech too, as he’s the only one who was doing the omnichanging, and it would make sense for the character. But I feel like it would’ve had the blue effect of his other illusions if that were the case.
The alt mode shifting was his holograms, the armor and gun were the only things his body actually did
@@Jethammer117Then how do you explain the garbage truck part?
@@ironconvoy3831that actually would have been pretty funny if Mirage drops the holographic truck mode disguise and it literally just him half transformed holding two seats at the right height for Diaz to sit on.
Kids in a big coat energy.
And didn’t he become sideswipes alt mode too?
Airazor was done dirty no wonder they didn't bothered making her studio series good she only was in it for a couple of minutes
And she didn't even get a robot mode.
"Work friends?! You've been inside me!!"
Yeah, that was 1 of the two "Nooooooo"s.
@@PerspectiveEnd Agreed, I found that part gross.
@@PerspectiveEnd I found the comedy good because this entire film was on target with nailing the 90's setting! I mean the movie went out of it's way to throw the Twin Towers in the Brooklyn skyline shots! Since this is before 9/11. Plus, the soundtrack was so good my mother, who has not a clue about Transformers besides the bare basics and things I lectured her on, loved the movie for the soundtrack.
My opinion on Prime is really mixed, I don’t know how he is in English but my country’s dub made him say “Dude” “fucking die” and “I will fucking kill you”
My country’s dubs are seriously hit or miss, Spider man: Across the Spider-Verse is amazing but this movies dub is god awful
That's surprising to hear Prime cuss. I wish they had balls to do that in the English/Original version.
Haven't seen it yet but we need an uncut version of the film
We do yes, because there is a lot that needs to be put back in.
@@PerspectiveEndI'm worried that a longer cut might somehow worsen things, imagine all the new problems that might breed in response to new bits of info that are meant to bridge other parts together. I am willing to bet that it caused many issues, especially considering the fact that a good half+ of the film was discarded into the ether. You never know with these live action films. Still, amazing how it somehow simmered into a coherent film. I'm genuinely in awe. It's just...abnormal.
@@PerspectiveEnd the Transit cut scene is unironically NEEDED imo have u heard of it? Like I’m not saying this for a meme I’m just giving my honest thoughts that Transit has a story element that I think legitimately contributes to the stiry
I love this movie but finally someone agrees w/ me that this felt short as-hell. I was expecting more battles between the Terrorcons and Autobots, and that the Autobots would take sometime before getting to Peru.
man I wanna see a director’s cut so badly
It will probably explain a lot.
After thinking about it for a while, I just realized why I have a problem with Prime. It’s not because he was willing to let Unicron destroy the universe, he was willing to risk it happening. Like he said, if Unicron gets the key, the planet and the universe will be destroyed. Yet he’s still willing to risk them getting the other piece of it. Even Bayverse Optimus for all his bloodlust knew that the Allspark Cube had to go to keep it out of Megatron’s hands.
Yeah, it's really dumb and that's a huge problem for me as well.
so I just got back home from watching the movie. And I got to say, my expectations were set very very low. Maybe that had something to do with it, but either way, I left the theatre blown away. It was by no means a cinema masterpiece like bumblebee, but holy shit it works and is way better than the movie has any right to be. I absolutely adore the Mirage character, even if he was supposed to be Jazz, and his bond with Noah was so wholesome. I recommend anyone to watch it. And yes! #releasethecaplecut !
Yeah opposite happened for me since I watched beast wars for the first time before the release of the film. But I still liked it for what it was.
I'm glad that you enjoyed it so much, I can understand why you do, and yes #releasethecaplecut.
I love alot of the scenes in the last half hour. Lots of goosebump and fist pump moments in the final act.
Sadly I was too checked out from the rest of the movie by that point to really experience that until music too center stage when bumblebee dropped in from orbit.
Every time I head an autobot complaining about seven years, I kept thinking, "You're forgetting transit time, my dude." And Cybertron, depending on the continuity and even at some points in the shows can be anywhere from "closer than our moon" a scary thought for anything trying for realism, to "in a distant arm of our own galaxy" or even a different but nearby galaxy. But I wager most cybertronians, much like saiyans just sleep through transits when they cover so much time. Unless they ever use missing that step to explain why one of the crazy ones is crazy.
Yeah is weird that they are so bent out of Shape over 7 years.
@@PerspectiveEnd maybe they spent they 7 years on constant look out for decepticons and never bothered to take a stasis nap or two?
I've gotta ask, does Unicron do anything else in the movie aside from floating ominously?
He spits a bunch of Freezers at the autobots, and I guess he destroys Eukaris.
I think we would definetly benefit from an extended cut, a Snydercut situation of sorts
That was the reference I was making.
I knew the movie felt way too fast and that something was missing IN THE THEATER! I really want the long cut now
My hopes for the next movie
1. Megatron and decepticons return as the main villains
2. If they’re gonna have humans have a proper spike and spark plug witwicky
3. It be 3 hours long
4. Fights are longer and have a dragon ball style
5. The real wheeljack and the rest of the autobots show up
6. It take on a more serious tone
7. Maximals are somewhere else
I agree with most of that, but I don't need it to be longer, I just need it to be not cut down. You can do a better job in this much time if you just budget your self properly.
The next movie will be a prequel set in cybertron
@@kevinp.h157 I’m talking about the sequel to rotb
We 100% need an extended cut that is basically just all the cut content from the movie polished up and stuff. It would definitely improve the movie even more, since this is probably one of my favorite movies of 2023 right up there with Across the Spiderverse. Transit was one of the best-designed characters, even if monster mouth doesn't make sense biologically, it still looked cool.
Transit was actually cool for a bad guy bot in this franchise and he gets no scene.
They should've put a scene where the autobots and maximals were powered up by some energon stones after the machine was activated, and thats why they were able to body the terrorcons.
That would have also helped.
I definitely intend to see this movie again. My face hurt from smiling during it, especially the "MAXIMIZE" during the final battle. I probably love it just as much as Bumblebee. A directors cut would be great though. Caple did say we might get the Transit scene in special features or something so fingers crossed. And fingers crossed it also has more scenes of the Maximals too. Even though they didn't have enough screentime, the fact I'm left wanting more is great and if someone got into Beast Wars because of this movie, I wouldn't be surprised. That was my biggest fear of how they'd be handled, and they were handled good. As for Optimus, I feel like he was trying to do the whole "pushing people away as to not get attached" kinda thing. Was it a bit much? Yeah. But the scenes with him and Primal I thought resolved it well, Jake Skywalker this is not. My only real complaint is Wheeljack's fins only showing up once and that he's barely in it. I dunno if they cut him down cuz of fan reactions to the leak or what but, there's that. Won't say favorite movie of the year just yet as Dune Part 2 isn't out but definitely up there with Spider-Verse and Mario. Fingers crossed we start getting more details on Transformers One soon! (I hate that title so much)
You're really trying to convince not only yourself but others that this still could be apart from the Bayverse, when its ridiculous.
It's really not. I legitimately don't understand why people are so convinced it is just irreconcilable.
You know what's Irreconcilable. Basically anything from TLK in comparison with the First, Second, Third, or Fourth movies. Yet they did it anyways.
@@PerspectiveEnd How do you explain all the size changes, design changes. Even GI Joe? There aren't two Unicrons, Unicron is trapped. Megatron is gonna look like his g1 self in the next movie. Even the director himself said that this is a reboot or rather a separate universe because they're gonna try a multiverse.
It's a reboot. Bumblebee proved it
1 There very easily can be 2 Unicrons. They literally have Time Travel in this movie.
2 We never saw GI Joe in the OG movies. Doesn't mean they didn't exist.
3 Arcee was bigger in Bumblebee, she's smaller now. How are you even trying to argue scale. They change when they want how they want.
4 I'll believe the Megatron bit when I see it.
@@ashuraomega7113 I really don't get it. Perspective hates the Bayverse. I'm a Bayverse fan but yet I know and want this to be a separate universe but he doesn't?
I saw a post on reddit with everything cut from the movie and it said that Transit was supposed to play a hologram recording of Autobots being executed on Cybertron, hence why Optimus doubts and beats himself up for being a bad leader every other line in the movie.
And see, that would make it much more understandable why he's an Ass in this.
Theory about Mirage turning into the big truck: he really only solidly made the cab, with around half of the vehicle just being a hologram. Also you say that Primal should’ve killed Scourge, but remember this: Primal stole Prime’s kill with Battletrap earlier so I’d say we can call that one even. Now that space Satan has been fought, we can go to more personal character stakes. Keep in mind, Unicron was not this movies villain. Unicron is the threat, Unicron is what will happen if Scourge wins. Scourge is the real villain. My biggest problem is that this movie wasn’t longer. Not too much, but another 15 mins to at max an hour, add the vehicle mode fight stuff, give Battletrap an epic 2v1 fight like he deserves, give a few others some screen time, Scourge lore, and that’s it. It sounds like I hated this movie but I had a great time and liked how Freezer was shown in this. Personally I’d give this an 8/10
That's at least a bit of an explanation but it does not explain how he shrunk to be the super suit.
I'm glad that you liked the movie though.
I noticed that when Bumblebee get his new vehicle mode, he doesn't change robot mode AT ALL, if you watch the scene where Bumblebee drives up the ramp with Noah and does that spinning transformation, you can see car rims SHIFT COLOUR FROM BLACK TO SILVER
Did he not. I could have sworn there was some change.
Sometimes you make me think I have RUclips sped up to 1.5x speed.
That's my intent.
Yeah, I agree the “emotional” parts made me cringe
Yeah, especially with BB, like we all know he's not going to die.
@@PerspectiveEnd I disagree. Because the only reason we knew Bumblebee wasn't going to be permanently killed was solely because of movie leaks. 5 years of movie leaks. Say had we not heard anything on the movie in the 5 years besides "we are working on it." then it be from left field. But we got all these leaks for 5 years and we went into it knowing basically the entire plot.
AH! I knew I wasn’t crazy when I noticed that Bumblebee just randomly switched vehicle mode parts out of now where after being resurrected. Also yeah the villains die way too easily and Nightbird and Battletrap feel like a diet Shatter and Dropkick to me.
Now all we need is a little box office, and a lot of luck
I saw someone describe this movie as being the plot of a bayformers without all of Bay’s schlock
That's a very fair way to describe it.
Also I feel like it's been a while man, where have you been?
@@PerspectiveEnd
Yeah it has been lol
I moved away for some business so I got distracted with stuff. Plus some family stuff,
I’ve been stuck at home with Covid the last week so I was able to remember this
Glad to have you return, should be alot new here for you while away your condition with.
All i gotta say is that when arrival to earth started playing in the end, my pants were instantly moist
Weirdly despite not liking that song, I did enjoy it more than I thought possible there.
Well according to the boss, the Noah’s former ceo told him that while he good at his job, he was terrible when it came to teamwork. In fact, Noah even mentions that he’s been building up his teamwork skills during his interview with “G.I.JOE”.
Which is still not something that ANY CO would do to someone under their command who got commendations. They might mention it, but not to an extent where the person would go "Oh I'm justified in canceling this without even telling them because they don't deserve the Courtesy."
How much you want to bet that was added into the movie just to justify him being added to GI Joe.
I am convinced that Noah was a soldier so they could set up a GI. Joe sequel
That’s most definitely the reason
It would be nice to see an extended cut. There is so much I would like to see. I'm also iffy about the bit at the end with Noah's recruitment into Gi Joe but I have a theory for that as to how they came about from a reorganization of Sector 7 that could serve as an interesting origin story to both GI Joe and Cobra while also tying into the Transformers.
As for the rest of the trilogy, I think that there is a way to make it work. The next film has Megatron as the main villain and have him and Prime die in the sequel with Hot Rod becoming the leader of the Autobots and the Matrix providing a way to bring back Prime for the next film while Megatron is implied to become Galvatron for the next film. After that, Rodimus as the leader of the Autobots fights Galvatron and the Quintessons who have teamed up with Unicron in the third film and have some way to make use of the Matrix to kill Unicron bring back Optimus and save Galvatron causing him to reform due to his time as Unicron's herald. Rodimus and Galvatron begin making plans to return to Cybertron and rebuild their home while Optimus elects to stay on Earth leading a combined force of Autobots and Decepticons to both protect the planet and build a space bridge to peacefully bring Cybetronians and Humans together.
I personally think there is a lot of potential here. It's a film that works and it's one that people can enjoy. You can have several pieces of tie-in materials to help fill-in the gaps between this film and Bumblebee as well as material for future installments You could also have a couple of other films or a TV show to explain certain aspects of the series and even introduce new characters as well as breathe in new life to other franchises that may end up connected to it to create a Hasbro Cinematic Universe. As a film major, I am fascinated by the potential for greatness and disaster this film brings.
One of the few times living in the land down under is problematic. Because for whatever reason, the movies release has been delayed here for 2 weeks. So I'll be frantically trying to avoid spoilers online for the next week and a bit.
Big sad
Sorry to hear that, don't watch this video.
@PerspectiveEnd yeah that tracks. I just clicked to leave a like and this sad comment. I'll return to this video in 2 weeks
That’s what I have to do as well :(
I do hope if we continue with Bumblebee/RotB as a continuity that they will give Wheeljack back his ears, and give him a bit more of a mechanic-based look. As while I am glad his personality isn't what was expected based on his design, I still don't like the suspenders or giant lips at all, the glasses, if redesigned to be a bit more like goggles are... fine... but, he wasn't as bad as I was concerned he'd be.
The funny thing is I realized this would make way more sense as Beach Comber, since the personalities line up pretty well.
Anyone else notice scourge only had his red glowing chest in the opening of the movie and nowhere else?
I probably wouldn’t have been that angry with Prime that much if it weren’t for what I thought the movie was implying. I was under the impression that the movie was saying that it didn’t matter what the destination was, if the key is used, Unicron was free. And the worst part was that I was under the impression that Optimus knew this full well. In other words, “What I’m doing is wrong, I know it’s wrong, but I’m gonna do it anyway”, which actually pissed me off. So when he and Noah had their talk before the climax and saying that he couldn’t be mad at him, I was like “Dude, He Was Willingly Just Gonna Let Space-Satan And His Three Horseman Of The Apocalypse Genocide The Planet And The Entire Universe Just to Get Home!”.
I don't think that's what they were implying, but what really got me is that the whole movie he was basically saying:
"Woe is my men! Save here on Earth! I NEED to send them back to the Meat Grinder on Cybertron!"
Battletrap was underused alas I miss him
along with cheetor and rhinox imo
And like, all the other Cybertronians.
In other words he has mixed love relationship with this movie
I would not call it a love relationship. More like a Mixed interested.
Also did mirages dead parts become armor for Noah just like jetfure in rotf ? Mirage can turn into anything now ?
I truly enjoyed your analysis of the movie and what you said is true we need to see the director's cut
I'm glad you were able to enjoy this very analytical look at the movie.
I Really liked the movie, i would definitely love to see an extended "Capple cut " version of the film
I'm glad you enjoyed it, and I hope they make an extended cut. I want to see what this movie was supposed to be.
Leak : The way the movie was ment to end, Optimus is about to die, Noah has been batted away and is about to fall when Optimus Primal rides in on Transit and they tag team Scourge until Transit Transits all over and Scourge disintegrates
Dude, they had to take Transit out of this movie because people were taking their clothes off in test screenings. The world isn't ready yet.
Truly a superiors end.
Oh damn, youre right, so much stuff was cutted, and i didnt even realized
Yeah, that's the weird thing. They formed a Cohesive movie out of what was left.
@@PerspectiveEnd yea i still really love it. But still, i wish some characters haad more screen time
At first I thought that I made sense that they needed a special thing to go to Cybertron since, well, it's space and it would be a really long or dangerous journey and it would be different than the bay films where Megatron and Prime could just fly anytime they want there, but then you just made me remember that Bee, Blitzwing, Shatter, Dropkick etc just landed here in escape pods and stuff and they were even expecting the Decepticon army to land here and yeah, it really doesn't make sense either way.
Yeah it's never going to make sense. These movies aren't made with a ton of Care.
Also they didnt defeat unicron they mostly delayed him. Also Also the deactivattion of the transwarp key could have been given by rhinox
Yeah, so that just means they are probably just going to Rehash him again, and the Franchise will continue to be bent around him like a Mandrel.
@@PerspectiveEnd isn’t this supposed to be a movie unicron trilogy?
As I’m typing this I just saw rise of the beasts in theaters and I saw Optimus say
“I will kill you” or some variation of it 6 times so I wonder how many times he says it in the cut parts of the movie
Yeah that was disappointing to keep hearing.
The transwarp key piece got activated by the laser she scanned it with, I think
I mean that's the Inference we have to take, but it's not stated in the movie.
You definitely put a lot of thought into this, my bro (at the expense of a good night's sleep most definitely).
The summer flick was a fun watch and it was nice to see non-TF fans actually enjoy a +2 hour movie from this franchise without coming out of the cinema with more questions (for a change).
All the points you mentioned are worth pondering about for sure; and I will re-watch this using them as an unsaid 'logic filter'. Perhaps some of the unused footage is meant for the other 2 sequels from this planned movie trilogy/quadrology? I was also taken aback by the sudden vulnerability of the otherwise 'super' Terrorcons. For a time, it seemed like Unicron was their 'Krypton' ~ the closer he got to this reality/timeline/dimension, the weaker (and more mortal) they became.
Really appreciate your valuable pondering and analysis, man! It is something absolutely outside the box. And you are absolutely right. The amazing opening sequence should rightly come to a close with Primal vanquishing his home world's tormentor by his own beastly big banana-crushing servos. Perhaps he may drive the final nail into the real baddie, Unicron himself, in the future to bring this saga to full circle and grant it the mercy of the proper and satiating ending (to the beginning) that it righty deserves.
PS. There were no Decepticons in the movie, but we still got deceived nonetheless (by the title)! 😂
Stay radical, and try to keep your key in one piece! 🤩👍
Oh for sure, I didn't sleep for shit, either of these last two nights.
I don't see them being able to take unused scenes from this movie anywhere. Like how would that even work?
So the Film makers were the Decepticons here?
And thank you very much.
@@PerspectiveEnd 😀 😄 😁 🤣 🙏
I'm gonna be honest and blunt so SPOILERS.
I hated this movie, not because of the plot, or the stupid bs they pulled outta thin air and other mishaps that I am willing to forgive (no robot mode for airrazor, no spoken lines for Rhinox, the bullshit Bumblebee revive, Mirage literally breaking every rule we know about transformers), but because of Optimus Prime, he was the worst character in the movie when him and Primal were supposed to rival eachother for who is the most likeable.
They wanted to give him this really complex sidearc of him slowly becoming fond of humans, but he doesn't come off as the wisened, wholesome and compassionate warrior/dad , instead he's the sociopathic murderous step-dad who hates fun and who would sooner see the entirety of humanity and earth go extinct if it meant saving Cybertron. This guy who is at his wit's end would sooner see another heavily populated world be doomed by his very own hand if it meant that this is how he fixes his mistakes but his half-assed"Redemption Arc" only occured in the final 20 minutes of the movie. YOU'RE TELLING ME I'M SUPPOSED TO ROOT FOR THIS FUCKING SELFISH PRICK AFTER YOU MADE ME HATE HIM WITH A BURNING PASSION FOR 1 HOUR AND 40 MINUTES?!?! And they went back to him being a murder loving face stealer!
Say what you will about Bayverse Prime cos he's got his own issues, he is an absolute murder machine, but you wanna know what he did that RotB Prime never did? He never gave up on humanity and he put their safety above all else. In 07, he was ready to give his life to protect them, in Rotf he died protecting Sam. In Dotm when humanity told them "go away , we don't want you anymore" thinking that this may draw the Decepticons away, Prime pretended to fulfill his promise only to return and save them, because he knew earth needed them, he destroyed Cybertron for Earth's sake. Even in Aoe, when they were hunted down like animals, Prime found hope and stood his ground to protect humanity. We don't talk about TLK. Sure he was not the best version of prime, he was very flawed and memeworthy, but he knew his priorities.
I will die on this hill by saying that Rotb Optimus Prime is by far the worst mainstream media (movies and tv show) characterization that Optimus Prime has ever gotten. I have never thought it was possible for me to hate any version of OP in my life, but here we are .
Sorry for the rant, i really needed to rant about it.
Agreed. I HATED Optimus in this, and Primal had almost no personality. What a waste.
Not even if it meant Saving Cyberton, just if it meant sending his like 7 soldiers he has with him, back to the meat grinder to die fighting.
I mean in the later movies he kept saying he was giving up on earth and that earth problems were our own now, and he was only in it any more because Marky Mark was "His Family"
Weirdly he may be. He's just so Selfish and stupid.
@@PerspectiveEnd You may be right, I never got that impression myself, guess you could say it wasn't that obvious because they spent very little time on Prime's motivations in Aoe. Meanwhile in this movie they made it his entire persona. Not to mention how much of a mood killer he was.
Bumblebee: you're afraid of the truth!
Optimus: I don't want you going to those drive in theatres anymore. ( Might as well replace it with: I hope you die in a fucking fire, you abhorrent piece of shit. How fucking dare you call me out on my bullshit.)
I feel so bad for Peter Cullen, who knows for how long he may live .... This could be his final role as our truck man....and this is how they want us to remember him? This ain't right man...
If i had to give one thing to the bayverse, at least the first 3 films, its that the cgi looks great to this day.
Do you think the CGI in this movie was bad?
@@PerspectiveEnd no, not at all, maybe except for like 2 shots tops, but i feel like the cgi in the older movies looked more like it was there, like it was real
to be honest i did nearly laugh when optimus said “after 7 long years on earth we finally found a way home”
My actual reaction to the mid-credit scene:
Movie: ends
Me: What the fu-
Comment 2: I think I heard one grunt from Rhinox in trailer 2 when charging through the terrorcons that was absent in the final film. Also, I wonder if Rhinox's roar was recorded by David Sobolov or if it's a generic sound effect.
I don't even remember him roaring in the movie.
@@PerspectiveEnd he roars when he yeets Pablo, though the scene from the teaser was cut. Also, the scene where Bee races alongside Cheetor was mirrored for the trailers, and the final version plays when the Maximals and Autobots have left the volcano, with some other characters added in.
@Scourge of the Universe based on the trailer rhinox was suppose to be in the cave where they were finding the second key and most likely would have killed freezer and chase noah and Elina to the river
@@waynesoon0101 clever. I never would have thought about that.
Saw it last night and I was so confused about if the Maximals were from the future or not. Logically they should be, but if so how did the Terrorcons get to the past without the key? I did a double feature with Spider-Verse so maybe I missed something at the beginning because I was still processing the other movie but I don't think so.
I mean they say they are in the movie, but like it's blink and you will miss it.
The shot of cheetor and bumblebee in acing was flipped and it was when they overlook the cliff side after they win, and then they talk about the possibility of unicron coming back
Yeah I can see how that was minor enough that it just didn't stick in my brain.
This movie is truly baffling, everyone I went with to see it was raving about how good it was, yet me the avid transformers fan was mostly confused. Not in a bad way, but a lot like you said, it was surprisingly enjoyable despite these issues. Also ngl mirage was kinda great I was taken aback at how fun he was
Probably because we are so used to Sam doing most of the talking for bumblebee that having the companion bot actually have a personality, like in prime, is refreshing to the mind.
13:20
That’s one cut I think is better off. It’s pretty well established to general audiences that the Cybertronians can change their vehicle mode so they probably just figured people would get that.
Plus the wow factor of revealing Bumblebee’s new mode in the final battle.
Optimus’ arc felt hollow and rushed to me. Like the second he went on about not liking humans I knew what his arc would be.
I hate when a character arc is so predictable.
Also why’d he even want to go back to Cybertron? All the Autobots ditched the planet in Bumblebee, that’s the whole point they’re on Earth.
Thing is it implies that the Power Surge generated that new altmode for him, which means that it should have healed his voice too.
See here's the thing. I can't call that wow factor, since I didn't even notice till like half way through. I was like "Oh he just has his new mode now."
Agreed, it was run at hyper speed, and was ultra predictable.
Also they don't seem to have all reconvened, and the whole point was to regroup on Earth, so they haven't even accomplished what they came here to do.
I just saw it. Man it's a definite step up from the bay films and while it had a few problems still, I think it's looking pretty bright for transformers movies going foward
Post credit scenes kinda suck though
I watched this movie and every problem I had you pointed out and explained. I didn’t know it was supposed to be a lot longer than it was which makes me appreciate it more
Yeah the fact that they wrangled something that functions out of it is really impressive.
13:21 the shot of Bee next to Cheetor was in the movie at the end.
Yeah, from what I hear it was flipped around so it was going the opposite direction. Probably why I didn't internalize it... Or I blinked.
Either way it was probably the least important criticism I had.
I haven't seen this film nor Bumblebee, but I don't get what people see in Prime here. Maybe he'll grow on me as I watch it myself, then again...
In Bumblebee all we really see him do is fight, but he just doesn't seem so pissed off there.
To be honest i think the opening scenes Was my favourite scenes. Also i fought it was primal father figure
That is one of the Possibilities for what he was.
If they release a directors/extended cut, it will basically be another movie
Probably yeah.
so after watching the movie which was great i enjoyed the hell out of it but here are characters i'd love to see in studio series
- core class exo suit noah
- deluxe class f1 mirage
- deluxe class arcee
- voyeager/deluxe dump truck mirage
- voyeager transit (if its possible)
- leader class apelinq (since according to leaked listings that optimus primal will be a leader class)
- leader/commander class stratosphere
Yeah they definitely need a bigger Arcee.
Just saw this film finally the other day. Yeah it was certainly a film alright
I was talking with a friend and I mentioned the stuff about Unicron and he mentioned how similar it was to Galactus in the second fantastic four film
It’s scary how accurate of a comparison that was
Indeed it is. It is a movie.
Man I don't even remember Fantastic 4 2 well enough to make that comparison. Like it's been so long and that movie doesn't deserve enough of my brain space to keep those details.
@@PerspectiveEnd Galactus: shows up as a bunch of space clouds
Unicron: shows up as a bunch of space clouds
It’s scary how similar both of those managed to be
Man, I dunno. I still hope that the general audience reaction continues to be overwhelmingly positive and it makes beaucoup bucks to re-solidify Transformers' place as a major earner for Hasbro, for the sake of keeping the franchise lively as a whole, but... my reaction is best summed up with that One Punch Man meme of Saitama blankly saying "Okay." I don't hate it, I don't love it, I don't have any strong reaction at all. I don't want any of the toys more than I did, or less than I did, meaning mainline Rhinox, Airazor, and "Wheeljack" are the onyl ones I'm going to look for, and curse all the corpos for still not having on Amazon where it's easiest to get stuff since we pretty much get all nonperishable food for delivery, as a habit formed during covi lockdown.
I expect that it will continue to be positive. I don't see why that would change now.
I probably want the toys less now personally.
@@PerspectiveEnd Eh, the toys I liked I like on their own merits; it's not like any of them except Arcee, Optimus, and the beasties arer even recogniseable as being related to the characters whose names they hold. By the same token, I just realized - Rice of the Beets "nightbird" looks one heck of a lot like a Rule 63 version of Cannonball, as depicted in the TF:Cybertron Red Alert recolor. I might just pick her up too if I see her, with that connection. Or the three pack with her, Dial, and Cheetor, since I don't hate mainline Chets either and at the price it's basically buy two get one free.
iirc, the transit scene alongside a few other cut scenes have been confirmed to be in the dvd release
I agree with you completely on this movie. I voted it's weird in the poll and I think that's accurate to how you feel about the movie. I definitely want a director's cut of this film.
I will say transformers on another planet with beast modes that resemble earth creatures isn't new. The Jungle Planet in Transformers Cybertron had beasts like Rhinos, Wolves, and Tigers. That doesn't mean it makes sense, or that it's good. Just that this isn't the first to do something like this.
I do highly disagree with your points about Optimus. But i liked your video. Your points where all clear and easy to understand so thanks
I'm glad you feel that way.
Though what do you find flaw in my argument about Optimus?
I am no film expert so apologies if my points aren't the best
His mistrust in humans can be explained by him not really knowing them at all. Before ROTB bumblebee was the only autobot to have contact with humans. And prime never met Charlie so he wouldn't really trust them as he doesn't know them
I also feel like he wasn't being as much as a douche as you said he was at least from my perspective. In bumblebee he did say to regroup. Not to stay there for several years. And I guess his desperation to get back could be connected to how he wishes he was leading the remaining autobots who are probably being slaughtered without a leader.
I do think prime cares about his autobots as I thought there was emotion between him seeing bumblebee die and return.
Now all your points are valid and some I do agree with such as the problem of prime not having a way to get home.
Hopefully my points are easy to understand
Honestly I was pleasantly surprised by the movie. I have fresh movie bias right now but I had a blast because I didn't hate anyone & I can follow the plot without a problem. Also only 7 of us were in the theatre so it was a chill atmosphere without problems.
And that's fine. Glad you enjoyed it.
Though I despised prime in this.
And yes the plot was remarkably easy to follow.
I enjoyed this video very much, all of the issues I had with this movie you had as well.
I'm glad to hear I was able to make a video so many people needed some version of.
What's odd is most of the plot holes and errors you mentioned were always in the movie. Someone on tfw who saw a cut of the movie back in July listed pretty much everything that was changed and cut and none of them fill in the plot holes and if anything the plot holes were somehow worse in the earlier cuts
That's interesting. I wonder what version of the movie they saw.
@PerspectiveEnd he made a thread dedicated to it. I believe it's called "2022 screening vs official" he lists every change he remembers in the first post
I’m really excited to see the movie, I’m sure it’s going to be good based on the audience reviews (screw critics, they are wrong 99.99% of the time). Hopefully it crushes the box office, I’d like to see the rebooted universe take off.
I hope you love it.
Its an unfamiliar feeling for me to watch a movie, really enjoy it and feel good after watching it and go online to see almost everyone tearing this movie apart
13:20 it’s at the end of the movie when they meet up together on the field across from the volcano
It would fit there, so I can see how maybe I'm just forgetting that shot.
Oh well, it was probably the most minor point in the video.
Optimus' character in this film was my biggest disappointment. No one understands Optimus anymore and it's depressing.
My thoughts exactly, I... like... The movie despite it's many flaws, which sums up my experience with most of the bay movies. It's just.. Odd, fascinating like you said. Also is bee dying then coming back to life gonna be a trend now? They did that 2 transformers films in a row now
And in the bumblebee movie it was probably the dumbest fake out death i seen in a transformers movie which is why I don’t understand why people will rag on this movie but praise bumblebee when the flaws and dumb moments in that movie were so apparent and annoying
@@giovonniiclayton Yeah sometimes i feel like they don't even know what the grounded rules for transformers has and they do what they want, crazy
I still remember hearing a lot of bad stuff about AoE and I went in with absolutely no expectations of it being any good. I wonder if I could do the same with this one?
Definitely hope we get a director's cut based on your review.
@PerspectiveEnd glad you’re back so xsept the 3 YOLO PARK FIGURES what mainline ROTB figures do you like most??
Ok so should i buy magic square dark lord(nemisis prime) or light of freedom
