It still amazes me how hard people defended this movie and trashed the Bay films.
i'm kind of tired of people be pissed at bay, when he didn't even made the scripts for his movies. it was not his fault, he only directed those movies and _actually_ wanted to understand the source material. unlike rolan emmerich and godzilla, who completely despised the original character, bay _wanted_ to understand and ended up actually appreciating the concept. did he had some weight on the story? yes. completely? definetly not.
Same here. It seemed like Bay really only had a serious hand in the story for Revenge of the Fallen and that’s because that movie barely had a script due to the writers strike. So they kind of made it up along the way. Which is kind of impressive in a way for such a blockbuster movie.
ROTB is just a fusion of every Bayverse movie but bare bones.
ROTB Prime is just AOE Prime bare bones.
The whole main plot is DOTM bare bones.
"A beloved characters dies but is brought back" ROTF bare bones.
Unicron is taken from TLK, now TLK didn’t used Unicron that much as that was a sequel bait idea, got stolen by ROTB with some tweaking here and there.
Literally my feelings coming out. Now I think there is a lot more TF: Prime bones in there such as Bee being the one to be that beloved character death and to be resurrected. And the need to learn to work together with people to defeat unicron bring the whole plot of season 1s 4 part finale. Thank you for watching the video.

Being someone who really likes the first three Michael Bay Transformers, somewhat Age of Extinction, a little bit of Bumblebee (not so much TLK), I honestly agree that Rise of the Beasts was a pretty big disappointment. As far as characters, I don't think any Transformers movie can really top that of the original 2007 cast, Age of Extinction's cast was entertaining, and Bumblebee had some of that heart I wanted in ROTB (just less cliched).
I don't care how good a person is. If the products they produce aren't entertaining, I won't watch it.
I just feel its important to reiterate that point in a time when hating on a filmmaker is very popular. I think Steven Caple Jr can make a 10/10 transformers movie. It's just this one didnt work for me at all.
Someone who finally shares my perspective. People kept calling this one of the best TF movies and just don't see how that's possible.

When GIJOE came up I remember whispering to you that it’s gonna he sector 7 before the card flipped over. Man was I wrong
Wow. Not only I'm agree with almost every statement, also I brought my boys to this movie too, and what you've said about ruining they're day, I-i felt the exact same way, even apologized for them at least 3 times... For me, this film outplayed only TLK, barely. The core problem of it truly is overload of content, without a chance of full implementation.
Now, about video. Enjoyable one, I'd say. This staff like "...it kills me..." with bee 'death' scene on screen, that was fun. And, of course, the message, I simply feel the same way, don't even need to explain myself.
Thank you for this essay. Until I watched, my thoughts was: "Is that good? How everyone likes it, and I'm not? What is wrong with me?". After this video, all overwhelming became clear: just hype, yet none of criticism. Well, except this very one)

You ain't even a transformers fan. Imagine how I felt mate? I am devastated.
Why are the Maximals even in Peru? Their disguises are based on animals from the African continent, so as is they still stick out like a sore thumb. I don't know if the writer's knew this, but Rhinos and Cheetahs aren't exactly easy to come by in the jungles of Peru. They either should've set the movie somewhere in Africa, where the Maximals could more realistically blend in, or give us new Maximals based on Peruvian wildlife, though if they really needed a recognizable Maximal I suppose Primal could stick around.
After the unexpected hitbthat was Bumblebee its sad to see them jump the gun and completely rush the "Hasbro cinematic universe" at the expense of a decente andncoherent story.
And have the audacity to slap a Gi-joe teaser in the end also?
Corporate mandates killed all the momentum the new mlvies could have had

For me personally I really loved it on the first viewing so much so I went back for a second viewing and while I still had a lot of fun watching it the second time round, the flaws began to show more for me, which didn’t bring it down too much as I still really enjoy it but it’s probably around the mid section of my ranking of the live action films.

What i hate about the movie after they killed off Bee they brought him right back before the movie ends as he jumps off the airplan as middle finger to the fans and Cliffjumper Hasbro will never gonna get him killed but make him stronger and more annoying🙄
not something that alot people agree on but the primals looked more something you’d see in the real world. where as the autobots i feel were almost ..to cartoony? i love the OG autobot designs. but in this movie i almost despise them. don’t get me wrong i love the 07 TF designs i think there awesome along with TF3 getting into 4,5,6 they got a little too crazy for me. but i think they could’ve done the OG look of the characters a bit better.
i agree 100 percent with you on this movie it felt dull. boring. leaving me wanting so much more from it. the bays movies were undoubtedly filled with issues but they always made go “DAMN” from the design of the characters, or the action, or just the borderline outa pocket claims from prime. the last ones are cringe and trash but still entertaining with all the action and knowing kind of where the movies taking you. i found myself getting in this new transformers i was getting lost trying to figure out other parts of the movie that they didn’t elaborate very well on.
I just feel as if the new designs arent taking into account how to make the visuals pop. On posters and character art they are fine. Hell look at the fortnite skin which is just based off of the promo art of or prime. Though in this movie. He comes across as this grey rectangle.
I might have an unpopular opinion, but the one thing that Bayformers got right and didn't have a need to be "fixed" is the character design. This is what I imagined it has to be in my head even before 07 movie came out, and when Bay did that on the screen, my jaw was dropped. The new "faithful to g1" design just doesn't work for me at all, my brain just refuses to perceive it as anything but a cartoon.
Also, I agree with the author of the video, the way they're animated is just... I don't know, it feels like they don't weight as much as giant robots have to weight. Bay made them feel massive, because the way they move follows the inertia of big things: hard to accelerate, hard to slow down. On the other hand, in ROTB their inertia is similar to someone as big as human. And this dissonance between the intended size of the robots and how they move in 3d space make them feel even less real, in my opinion.
The only thing about the Optimus Prime seen in ROTB that connects to Bayverse Prime is his mouth
Even if I am happy they tonned down the Bayhem (except they had taken much more in Bumblebee, and this feels like a step back), I can´t forgive what they did with the Beast Wars characters, nor I can see this as "inspired" by the 86 movie. It is, at best, inspired by Armada. Mixed with freaking Netflix Kingdom. And it´s a total failure. And good riddance.

‘Colossal’ is bit of an overstatement, still intrinsically outshines Michael Bay’s last 2 movies lol. But it could have been leagues better

But it does show my feelings of disappointment considering just how big of a TF fan I am. Transformers has been a key part of my life. So to get a misfire is yeah for sure disappointing
Wow, this was a great video! I’m a bit of a Bayformers apologist so I loved (most) of his takes on the franchise. I do think a new direction was needed as he obviously didn’t really want to do The Last Knight but this film was such a disappointment. Especially the third act. Just such boring action and spectacle for a Transformers film.

I fucking love this video. It lists all my problems with the movie, whilts also being spoken from the perspective of someone who sees these films the way I do. When I first walked out of the cinema seeing ROTB for the first time, I was a happy man. My second time watching it at home, I saw it was flawed, I already knew that but it didn't bother me. My third time and I had seen all the deleted scenes and some concept art at the time... I wasn't enjoying it. Why? And then I realised that ROTB is not the film I wanted.
I wanted a sequel to Bumblebee. The movie that set the standard for what future Transformers should be... ROTB isn't that. It tries too hard to capture the spectacle that made the Bayfilms so successfully and the heart that made Bumblebee so loved. But it fails on all these fronts and becomes a mess to deal with. Speaking of Bumblebee, best boi, his death was not just shallow in presentation but also from a narrative and emotional perspective. If they were to kill him off again for good this time in the future, I would feel nothing. Cause that'd be HIS THIRD TIME DYING! His death just served as a way to share the spotlight and even then they fail at that. Disrespectful is how I would put it. Side note, the cgi is at best when Bee is on screen, and I don't know why. Also THANK YOU for bringing up how the cinematography and choreography for the Bayfilms is a masterclass of how to shoot the Transformers. Both scale and action sequences. ROTB? Janky and inconsistent. 20:37 Anyone else here notice that Optimus just teleports right behind Scourge (or the vise versa I can't tell) like he wasn't a good few feet away?
Speaking of Optimus Prime in this film, he is the worst iteration of the character I have ever seen with his shallow "character arc". In fact all the characters in this film feel shallow. Scourge has no depth to his character, along with the rest of the Terracons, making their deaths that less impactful. And all the Autobots, even Mirage who I do like, feel lacking in character or any depth. Wheeljack... Pablo exists and I hate that he exists. I demand justice for Wheeljack. And the chad Browntable brings up a good point (besides Pablo). Peru was underutilised for the general plot of the film as a set piece. The chase sequence is also underwhelming.
In summary: This movie is a mess. A clump of wasted potential that could've been great had it been properly taken care of. And I don't wwnt to sound like I'm hating on Steven Caple Junior. He seems like a great guy. But I can't help but feel robbed of what should've been an ever lasting experience.
And no. I don't think I'm looking forward to the sequel. The GI.Joe ending was the final nail in the coffin for me. I'm already done with the reboot and that's just sad for me to say. But it's true. Travis Knight's legacy with Bumblebee is put to shame with this film. Narrative, pacing, characters, writing and overall direction is just skewed for some... disappointment.

All valid. It‘s another bug hunt for lacking reasons. Like the vibe tho. I mean come on, as a TF-Fan nowadays it‘s really hard to get something on par with Prime and Beastwars, later seasons of Animated in terms of a compelling story and characters.
Yeah I am happy that so many TF fans LOVE this movie. I made my piece. I said I didn't like it. Now as a TF fan. Its onto hyping up TF one and hoping that is everything I wish it to be. Can not wait for September.
I really liked Mirage as well.. But I was pretty disappointed after the first 15 minutes. It was a 180 from what I thought the movie was going to be about. I thought the Primals were going to be the lead bots and maybe see or get a fresh story. But it was very similar to the rest. And I absolutely hated the ending. 2 different genre's. No need to mix them. If Hollywood just went back to following source material., movies would be good again.. But nope. All we get nowadays is 3rd grade dialogue where they tell you everything they are doing instead just letting the audience WATCH what they are doing, along with a healthy dose of woke crap.

I love rotb but bb is still my favorite tf movie but i olso feel that rotb was a step down aigen not to bad my friends and i like it for what it was but now with gi goe gowing into the universe i feel they will do the same mistake aigen like what happend in the bay film

The time travel should have at least been briefly explored. If Primal has been on Earth for thousands or even millions of years but is still named after Prime than time travel is obvious. But when Primal announces that he's named after Prime Prime just kinda...shrugs it off? Doesn't even question it?
I hate this movie's Wheeljack with a passion. I can't help it. I know he's an inventor but why does he have to look like a stereotypical nerd character? He has suspenders for Primus' sake! Hell I like Dark of the Moon Wheeljack better!
Oh naw man the GI Joe ending got me hyped. I've never really been a GI Joe fan but it's crossed over with Transformers enough that I know if done right it would be amazing.
I'd love to see a movie where Megatron and Optimus have to team up.
For me rise of the beasts is enjoyable and entertaining, it’s like a kid playing with toys and it’s not afraid to be silly, tho i think it’s biggest issue was not fleshing out the maximals more
Yeah which is why this movie sucked, it felt like a kid playing with toys where he smashes random toys together for a random and nonsensical story. This approach to storytelling never works and The Mandalorian can be guilty of this but at least the people behind the show was interested in telling a story first.

@@DareToEntertain makes no sense but it’s actually true, the paramount ceo came out the other week and there’s articles on this too if you want to read more. He said he needed to call bay many times to get his approval to include the gi Joe scene because bay was initially against the idea and didn’t want to include it because he felt it would cheapen “the other transformers movie. @@GalvatronStudiosI mean Michael bay still works for paramount as he’s still producer so the interest is still there, that alongside the fact that rise of the beasts is canon to his movies( and yes it is a prequel as per Lorenzo+ Steven caple) it wouldn’t be too much of an issue getting him to return because he’s still heavily involved in what goes on, paramount ceo Brian robbins has said Michael bay still has veto power over transformers, meaning the major changes such as story have to be approved by him before making the Final Cut, bay is still kicking it

@@GalvatronStudios i see a lot of people denying it but they’re just in the epitome of denial, firstly there’s a reason why bumblebee shares the exact same vehicle mode as he does in the 2007 movie whilst also not having the ability to speak, Lorenzo has also reiterated the fact it’s a prequel many times but people just tend to undermine what he says as if he’s not the mainline producer who literally gets the final say in what goes on he said it’s a prequel so it’s a prequel. And if that isn’t enough even Stephen caple has said and I quote” rise of the beasts does not mess up with the 2006/2007 storyline we’re actually going in a direction that allows us to protect that side of the universe” that alone confirms there within the same continuity.
I just can’t wait to see people’s faces when the timeline to 07 does close and it becomes abundantly clear that they’re connected

While some of ur comments were indeed tru, it just sounds like u didn't like how it started so u decided that the movie was shit unconsciously and then viewed it like that, all u have to do is look around and see that while there were problems, it was a good movie
Trust me in that this wasn't the case. I have no reason to actively want to hate this movie. Its transformers. All I want is a movie I can quote on the daily, to be able to add the entire album to my spotify rotation. And have some killer action. To put it simply it didnt meet that. The movie is TRASH. Its a 2/5 for me. Which is just a bleh. The part Iove most about the movie is how it resonated with so many TF fans. The twitter page "Is the TF Rise of the beasts trailer out yet" guy has been hyping this movie up for a year. I love seeing every post. Just I promise you, I did not deicide at the start that I just wanted to hate the film. I watched it a few times before finishing the script and again while it was in editing with my editor CJ. Thank you for watching mate. Hope this clears stuff up.

So everything you mentioned here is superficial, what is the point of having cool and hype robots when you do nothing with them, Bay had 5 films to do something with this characters and did nothing with them, and now since Bumblebee, a movie tries to use this characters, for once they make Optimus not a Gary Stu always perfect chose one like he is in both Bayverse and Prime, for once the autobots feel more like characters instead of car commercials, and you complain about lighting? About cars not being filmed like an add? About Optimus for once being more that a perfect cardborad the we have not seen since Animated? Tf fans loved this movie because it made them feel seen, having Maximals, some hints at the Wreckers, Predacons, bots having a personality and all I see here is you complaining about the lack of cool factor, you sound just like a Geewunner complainig about how things are not G1, but instead complaining about how this is not Bayverse enough, the last part was the best though, I think that the movie desperately needed to be smaller, it was to early to introduce Maximals, Terrocons, etc, specially after how good Bumblebee was with his smaller scale, and the score was great at the end but they should have used those leitmotifs since the start, but like I told you, this movie to many TF Fans is great just because it feels like for once people behind it care about Transformers, which is something most Bay fans don't care to understand

Can we please stop pretending that Dark of the Moon is good? People overhype that film just because the 3rd act is entertaining but the rest of the film is still the same crap we see in all the other Michael Bay films. The only problems with Rise of the Beasts I felt were that it just felt like a more bland, generic and cheaper rehash of everything we've seen before and the maximals were criminally underutilized but aside from that it's still the 3rd best live action movie. They seriously need to fire that producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura because he's the reason why this franchise turned out the way it did.
Lorenzo made the franchise a multi billion industry, you can’t blame him, y’all spent the good decade crying “oohhh we want simple designs we want g1” and paramount gave it to you TWICE, and those 2 films did much worse then what came before it, you’re saying that as if Lorenzo is the only producer when there’s a whole studio full of em and fyi if you think they’re really gunna fire the man who’s helped them build up the industry that’s made them so much money boy you have another thing coming
