With every other movie, you hear "it sure is a movie" as a negative thing, but for transformers, hearing that the movie "is a movie" is like the highest praise

I think the biggest problem with the movie is it expects you know everything going into the movie like who is Unicron, who are the maximals I think this should have been a part 3 with the maximals getting there own stand alone movie then have the Autobots and the maximals team up. I like this movie I really do but it came too soon also I think Primal and Prime should have fought Scourge together that bugged me so much

Optimus felt like an idiot tbh and there wasn't any continuation with the whole cybertron backstory, iirc Arcee only mentioned that the war caused Optimus to act like that.
That ain't too wrong though. RandomBlackGamer also pointed out that Optimus has spend his time on Earth for 7 years and didn't bother learning what makes them worth fighting for. If Bee cares about the humans, why can't Optimus?
These beings live for THOUSANDS of years, it took Bumblebee a whole mindwipe essentially to see the true beauty in the humans. I think their selfishness in this movie(at least in the first part) makes realistic sense, especially seeing as it can be easily interpreted that humans DO NOT take kindly to extra terrestrials

the entire motivation behind Prime was to get back to cybertron because they'd been on Earth too long and the war was still ongoing without him.

...AOE does the whole "racist prime" arc better as well. it at least does more than have two scenes where other characters *explain* why Optimus is racist, and then he's suddenly not racist at the end.

As much as I really enjoyed this movie, I really wished it was more of a proper sequel to Bumblebee with it being smaller, scaled, and saving Unicorn for later and having actual Decepticons. Also, I missed the G1 inspired designs from the last movie.

I agree , unicron should be the Galactus level event rather than the forgettable middle villain , I still enjoy watching this movie regardless
they shouldnt even have included the maximals and terrorcons. its horrible becuase these two seperate continuities (transformers and beast wars) are perfect standalone and we instead shouldve gotten a beast wars movie based solely on them.

Same here. I and most people I know think it’s a good movie and a wonderful addition to Transformers. The Maximals did get done dirty but considering they’ve been in almost nothing until recently; I was happy they got as much screen time as they did.
I've always preferred a positive outlook on movies, so it kinda saddened me that this wasn't as liked as I hoped. But I enjoy it, so I'll continue to enjoy it

The movie was legit a hit in Peru because parts of it were shot there. It received tons of media coverage during its theatrical run and there was even an Optimus Primal statue added in a park in commemoration iirc. People there are almost always craving for the country to get any type of attention overseas so I'm not surprised.

It certainly felt as one of the weaker movies to me, especially after Bumblebee I had high expectations.
Doesn't help that I learned that originally there were no Maximals planned to appear at all, but more Autobots we've seen in Bumblebee, then they got forced in Spider-Man 3 Venom style.
really? that doesn't sound right to me, considering that the teamwork between the autobots and the maximals is like, the thematic core of the movie. without the maximals you can't resolve the themes set up in the first act.

imo having more Autobots works much better for a 2nd movie, if they were instead of Maximals it would be just as much f an issue as with them if not bigger cause they would actually just kinda be there without anything mention worthy

The fact that everyone says the cut content was needed to make the film better just proves it was a mistake to cut as much as they did. All I hope is that for the next film they don't mess up as bad as they did.

The biggest difference between RotB and bumblebee was just the utter lack of vision. Cus looking at the deleted/alternate scenes it’s clear nobody was really sure which way to go with the story.
Agree, first Transformers and Dark of Moon are both still my favourite bayverse Transformers movies. Bumblebee did much than rise of beast but I still like rise of beast

Felt like I was in 2017 for a second.
When the post-credit scene appeared and they went to some secret government warehouse I was like "I will forget all sins of this movie if there is a frozen Megatron", but no, just a bunch of meaningless tech shit😭

Nightbird (my favorite terrorcon off of design and voice) has echoes of a personality where it seems like she enjoys belittling “lower” life forms because well she views them as beneath her (when she steals the key at the museum or goes to fight Noah at the end) but like that’s it. She had like 4 or 5 total lines (could be wrong) and then she gets blown up soon as Bee returns and then her body parts land like a Lego figure (would’ve been cooler if just the sword landed in the dirt imo)
At worst, I could have seen Optimus being indifferent to humans in a separate but equal kind of way (i.e. we mind our own business, they mind theirs). But it still works far better in most other iterations (including the Bay films) when he doesn't want to involve humans in the conflict for _their_ safety, simply because he's a caring and benevolent hero who values life in all its forms.
Whereas in _Rise Of The Beasts_ he inexplicably sees humans as worthless and untrustworthy, which not only makes him really unlikable, but is especially weird when Bumblebee already has at least three human allies from his solo film proving evidence to the contrary. If anything, it almost kind of makes you wonder what exactly the Cybertronian War is being fought over in this continuity, given that this Optimus' initial view of inferior beings seems hardly any different from what Megatron's would usually be.
For all its flaws, _Age Of Extinction_ did this arc better, because that Optimus *did* see the humans as his friends and allies once (and we saw this firsthand in the previous films) before they straight up betrayed him and massacred most of the Autobots. Instead of Prime just randomly not acting on his usual beliefs, his beliefs were actively tested and seemingly proven wrong, and he had to _lose_ his faith in humanity before he regained it.
Thank you, I thought I was the only one who thought that they did a better job of giving Optimus a character arc in AOE than ROTB. While I liked that Primal was inspired by the legend of Prime and that inspired Prime in concept, the fact that this movie started off having Prime being so dismissive towards humans made it really hard to sympathize or connect with him.

The arc in AoE is done well in comparison to what has come before it. I'll give it that. But Optimus starts off as somebody who's untrusting of humans, yet he still does what Optimus does. I see little to no consequence of him feeling betrayed by humans. Sure he says he's done defending Earth after they go and take the seed but we still see him defending humans and Earth throughout the movie. At the end of the movie he's back to being the Optimus we already know he is.
In Rise of the Beasts, I personally felt like Optimus was mostly indifferent to humans and didn't want them involved with him wanting to get back home. Arcee mentions that the humans would hunt them down if humans would know of their existence (which is also something Optimus says in the Transit opening). Optimus has no reason to believe that humans are going to be allies with him. Despite all this, Mirage still convinces him to let Noah help them and even when they are in Peru, Optimus admits that Noah's plan of sneaking through the parade was actually a good idea. At the end of this movie, we get an Optimus who now sees the value in humans and sees that they are worth protecting, as Primal tells him. While I don't think the arc was perfect, I certainly do not believe it to be bad and I certainly don't believe it to be worse than Age of Extinction.
@@Samuel_LoeganI really don't understand what people find so wrong with AOE compared to the other bay movies. For transformers fans, I could see their issue being that basically all the iconic transformers characters are gone...buuut those characters were replaced by a crew that actually talk, have a personality, and do things in that movie. Other than that, AOE really focused the plot and got rid of all the stupid human side tangents in the previous 2-3 films, and was less annoying with its comedy. So in my opinion, AOE was the most consistently entertaining film, even if it may not be as iconic as the previous trilogy. And it was better than ROTB because despite it throwing more things in, it still felt like they had more of a handle on it than ROTB did
They should’ve put more time with the greatest autobot of all time: Stratosphere
I think Stratosphere has the potential to be a really interesting character is handled right.
Imagine an older Autobot who can't fight anymore, however he still wants to do his part for the cause, so he assists by transporting troops to one place or another.
Yeah, it's not the deepest characterization or anything, but I'm sure a professional writer could explain it better then I can lol.
I also really don’t enjoy the overly violent Optimus in the movies and I’m a Superman fan. So when I heard Diamondbolt say “Now I get how Superman fans feel about Man of Steel.” I related so much I was teleported to Australia and had an insane bionicles collection.
GI Joe showing up at the end probably has to be the dumbest post credit scene I’ve seen in a long time

I love the movie very much, but after seeing the concept art with all the other Autobots, I really would've loved to see that film rather than a Beasts film. Despite that tho, I really had a great time with the movie regardless.
I love this movie very much, regardless of it's flaws it gave that 07 vibes from when I was a kid, and this movie will forever be a momentum to me because I took someone out for a date to see this movie, and she didn't question it, she enjoyed it as much as I did.
I feel like Lorenzo is more then a big reason why these films cannot commit to being the reboot they absolutely want to be. Despite Caple saying ROTB was a reboot and a sequel to Bumblebee, Lorenzo interrupted him and said it's still a prequel. I hate this man.

Diamondbolt carried the movie sales in Australia let's be honest.
Ngl Bumblebee raised the expectations for the live-action TF movies. I really love the intimacy of Bumblebee that TF live-action was missing for so long(if it had it at all) if it weren't for it I feel like people would've been more positive for RoTB. Too much was added for RoTB and the stakes went from stopping two decepticons to introducing literally robot satan. I just wish they fully committed to the reboot but hey RoTB is something good so hopefully they can like improve (I hope).
In the Spanish version of the movie, Optimus Prime name drops Charlie
Unicron is the definition of a movie 4 villain, one who sets up future plot for the second trilogy. Like thanks to him, Galvatron comes in and restarts the war. Unicron is a boss fight and catalyst for the second half of transformers, and really doesn’t work as a movie 1 villain.

Watching this movie in australia was a fucking quest in of itself, i had booked my local cinema to see it on the international date.
and then my fucking local cinema exploded, some fucking construction crew acidently caved in the roof and so now I had to go off to bum fuck nowhere to see this movie.

Problem I had with the action
Is that it was too short or ended quickly. It didn’t feel like there was a natural build up and pay off
no weight or scale, no interesting shots, and as you said, the fights just kind of... end. the action in ROTB is horrible lol. sure you can see more but it's not fun to look at.

I know most people think Bayverse OP is a psycho, but this one felt like way more of an deranged asshole to me. Bay's Prime was initially a lot closer to G1, but got more unhinged as horrific things happened throughout the movies and the PTSD got real. Even when humans were slaughtering the Autobots and allied with Lockdown though, he showed way more care towards them than ROTB Prime. Like wtf, he gets to Earth and is immediately racist??? Are we sure that's not Shattered Glass OP? Or Megatron in diguise?
I think the movie definitely would benefit from a Directors Cut. With how much was cut from the overall film, and how the movie could’ve benefited with some of those deleted moments like the Transit scene introducing Optimus’ character arc, I think a Director’s Cut for the film in the future would definitely improve the film.
I didn't really care for transformers as a kid (the movies) but I loved beast wars and the old transformer cartoon. When I saw from the trailers that this movie was just going to be another string of fight sequences that give nothing to the characters themselves and just flashing colors on a screen I immediately stopped caring. I would love for transformer fans to get more movies that actually show love for the property. When can we get as much appreciation as the transformer shows or like bumble bee. You were exactly right when these franchises just want to skip to the money making part instead of working on a good build up.

I can never be objective about this movie because it has one of the best arcee designs.
I think a big problem with ROTB was the CGI Studio imploding, needing WetaFX to jump in and redo the entire Final Sequence and then add the beginning sequence. I wish ILM worked on it.

ROTB because it brings some concepts back like the maximals and the Unicron heralds resembling Hook, Line and Sinker. I’m still waiting for a Optimus Primal movie where he suffers from PTSD after ROTB and maybe introduce Rattrap, Dinobot or Tigatron. (I’m still coping)

The main thing I DESPISED about the film is..."IT'S ABOUT TO GO DOWN ON GOD!" Seriously was embarrassed in front of my friends when that happened in the final battle in the theater...
I wish it was just Autobots vs Decepticons, with the Autobots learning about humanity
Me personally I thought it was great! It is disappointing that the Maximals aren’t in it a whole lot, but to have them in with some kick ass designs and warrior modes was nice. All the fight scenes were good, the characters (maybe save Optimus) were great and I think the movie also succeeded at not only adding the Terrorcons, but also making them a real threat (especially with Unicron.) The divisiveness comes as a shock to me, cause after Bumblebee, this one also does a good job after the Bayformers.
Two of the problems i had with this movie is that for one they went back on the pretty much bland mcguffin plot line even though the bumblebee movie pretty much does show it can work well in other formulas and scenarios
And second much like the last knight its just a force amalgamation of multiple scripts though at least this is actually watchable and you can make sense of it compared to tlk
My favorite gag in any bolt video is speeding up a scene and adding dumb sound effects to make it funny then also just explain the plot of the film and call every character a dumbass

I like when Airazor stated that the Terrorcons had dark energy which made them "All but invincible"
And then in the final battle, Battletrap just kinda stood there and let himself die, and Nightbird exploded the second Bumblebee touched her.
I watched this movie with my dad, who knows pretty much nothing but bare bones knowledge of Transformers, and his biggest take away was asking me afterward "Why is Optimus so mean and brutal?"

For one it's so freaking refreshing to see someone talk about the Bumblebee movie and not spend 30 minutes drooling over that stupid Cybertron scene that everybody ignores the rest of the movie over.
Now about rotb, it's probably my favorite transformers movie yet, I just can't help it. The fight scenes are awesome and get you pumped up, the designs look cool and have color, Bumblebee isn't annoying, and Noah is probably the best human character we've gotten in a long time like he's up there with Charlie and Agent Fowler. Yeah I wish the Maximals had more screen time but what we did see I really liked, loved the almost father son thing they did with Primal and Apelinq. And yeah Optimus hating humans got a little annoying but like I feel the same way about humans so....
But like I said so far it's my favorite tf movie so I can't wait for the next actual movie (tf one got me worried). Though I will say I fully blame the bad parts of this movie on the idiot test audiences, I mean at least get a mix of actually tf fans and general audiences for the test screenings.
I also hate Focus Groups.
Before watching ROTB my initial thought was that the Maximals had to travel back in time to save Optimus from being assassinated by a small group of predacons. The predacons manage to critically injure him to the point he's out of commission for damn near half the film leaving ratchet and wheeljack to keep his vitals up. This also causes a fuss between the bots and maximals Optimus primal tries to lead the autobots to stop the rest of the predacons from finishing the job but their bias for Optimus clouds their judgment. So the bots aand maximals have to work together in order for Optimus to survive

Much as I enjoy all the BW love its been getting lately with the Kingdom and Legacy toy runs, I think they put themselves in a corner when it comes to integration because of how mega prevalent G1 is now. BW in the 90s benefitted from brand stagnation, but thats no longer the case.

I actually kind of love Optimus’s sheer hate-boner for Scourge. Like this isn’t “for the greater good” like the other movies, he just straight up wants to murder him for hurting his team and I weirdly like that

for a "step in the right direction," it really doesn't do anything interesting, or anything better than the Bayverse. Which says a lot, because the Bayverse is *objectively* bad. what a pathetic movie.
They'll probably go back to taking a more Bay approach seeing as this one was just so underwhelming.

Its such a meh movie. Its your basic characters with medicore action. The Bayverse movies are way better due to the action being so good. And i find the goofy characters of the Bayverse far more enjoyable but more annoying as well. I like the old designs way more as well
Me and my Dad went to see this movie a week later after it was released in theaters, and I thought it was ok. I personally had fun with it even if critics didn't like it that much.

I actually really liked it! Part of that was just me being relieved it was more my idea of transformers when compared to the Michael Bay adaptations

What a nostalgic feeling when seeing this title. I remember 15 Shocking TF deaths and "Characters summed up in one quote!" And I do agree with some things you said on the film. I saw it 6 times in the cinema, maximals were kinda just there. Now onto Prime, I enjoyed his arc but I do really wish they made him not super murder but it felt justified, since Bee died. Personally if they made him similar to how he was done in TF:P I think it'd be perfect.

To Be Honest I Loved The Movie The Reintroduction Of The Maximals And Predacons Also The Return Of Prime was nice Although I Was Ticked Off By The Delay In Australia I Had To Stay Off RUclips a Week Before It Released Hopefully If We Get Another Movie Its Set Entirely On Cybertron Focusing On The Backstory Of The War
