I wish they found a way to keep both of the openings since they are both important for different reasons. The Maximal opening establishes Unicron as a threat like the BBM with the decepticons and the transit scene makes Optimus’s frustration even more understandable.
Maximal opening should've been a flashback told by Airrazer after she saves the Autobots at the museum
I feel like it would've worked just doing the maximal opening in the beginning like the final version and just cut to the transit scene after that

I think the easy solution would just be to have Optimus hunting Transit right before the key happens to shoot the beacon into the sky.
@@krishp1104 The original intent was similar. She was going to have a hologram like Optimus did in the 2007 movie, except Unicron wasn't going to appear.

it honestly kills me they cut so much of this out, some of it definitely was changed for the better, but a lot of the little bits of character for the maximals should’ve definitely been kept, the transit scene would’ve been great to have for context of optimus’ arc, the rhinox “for home” bit I would’ve loved. I would’ve happily watched twenty more minutes of movie if this was all kept
I mean, some of it is just the result of development hell. As someone who has written fiction, stories are going to change through the process and there's plenty of things I would have liked to have kept in but can't figure out a way to.
In general I think transformers movies are trying to be overall shorter and more concise compared to the slog that was TLK, so I can see why they might have trimmed it.
It's a balancing act, and a really difficult one to do. Would very much love to see some of that added into a director's cut, such as transit vs Prime and the Maximals having more dialogue.
I kinda see why they cut the Scourge stuff. Yes, it would have given him more depth but maybe they were worried this would make Optimus feel antagonistic for killing a guy who was being forced into these acts.
That does make sense, actually.
But it would easy to Understand who is right, in the end, The Final Boss and Main Anthagonist is Unicron, Scourge is just a Slave of him.
A directors cut is needed instead of just deleted scenes.
There could of been a mercy kill scene instead rather than a sub zero fatality
A villain/antagonist is best when they believe what they are doing is the right thing.
I want like Scourge to willingly serve Unicron to save Cybertron, instead of being a bounty hunter or slave.
IMO they could have added a quick scene explaining "stasis lock" to explain Bumblebee's fate. Like just elaborate his spark is intact, but his body's too damaged to do anything but try and keep it burning.
Would’ve made Wheeljack’s importance justified since he’s good with that stuff.

They could've had him revive Bee using his tech

🤦♂️ Bumblebee wasn't in stasis lock! He was dead! He was able to be brought back because his Spark Chamber was still intact.
Personal opinions:
- They should had kept the Scourge scenes in; it would had given him more depth.
- The original Transit opening could had remained in the film, but as a scene in-between Noah's & Elena's intros and leading up to his encounter with Mirage. It would had definitely boosted the pacing of the film as sometimes the human scenes do feel too distracting from the Transformers ones.
- The Cheetor & Rhinox scene & extra lines would help.
Overall I hope they take fan feedback from this, and release an alternate DVD cut not just with those deleted scenes included, but included WITHIN the film too as I feel that this definitely deserved a longer cut to expand more on Scourge, Optimus & the Maximals a little more.
They just needed to cut the cheese of the human drama with some Transformers stuff so the audience would remember the movie is about the transformers too...
I do read that Steven has said that the home release would include some of the deleted scenes.

Predacron Megatron (Predatron?) looking like a zombie scrap dinosaur would be really cool. Same with Waspinator, especially if old Waspy keeps getting blown up and pulling himself together (and treated as an actual threat because of that).
I’m happy that Steven said that we hopefully might get that Transit opening when it comes our on home media. Really wanting to see it like others.
Maybe im wrong but i dont think mirage died at all. Prior to becoming noahs suit he said “im okay im just low on power, youll have to take the controls” or SOMETHING along those lines. In the moment it made it seem like he was just injured and couldnt fight alone and had to let noahs control him bia the suit
That was my takeaway as well. He wasn’t “okay” in that he was grievously wounded, but he wasn’t dead or dying; just not fit for combat anymore. So he sort of salvaged himself and formed the suit for Noah, who was then able to rebuild him proper.

They should have kept the Polaroid scene with Charlie that sounds so sweet.
Directors cut would be interesting to see for this movie
with some of the hologram scenes deleted and the fact Mirage transformed into an exo-suit after being heavily damaged, it makes me think Mirage might be a shifter-type transformer due how many alt modes he can change into and it would fit his character
I am hoping the sequel does exactly that because otherwise the whole turning into a suit is extremely out of left field
There's one more thing that bugs me about Scourge. Before the movie came out, on the internet there was the theory that Scourge was actually Optimus Prime from the Bayverse being corrupted by Unicron (as he's described as a multiverse traveler). Many elements of his aspect were pointed out, just like the top of his head and his truck transformation that strongly recalls the one of Optimus Bay's.
Rise of the Beasts also seemed to make a huge deal with his mask! During the final battle there's this whole shot of his mask falling away like a big twist was coming up. So it actually felt they were going in that direction.... but no, it just revealed a face. I don't know if this was actually a thing or not, but watching the movie it kinda felt like that.
It most likely was real. I believe there was a leak about that in 2021 as well.

They definitely had him being a future version of Prime (maybe not Bayverse Prime, that is waaay too specific), as it is almost clear his presence serves as a negative contrasts to what Prime could become, with Primal being the obvious positive. The unmasking scene is so dramatically framed it is jarring he turns out to be no one.
Since the Transit scene was deleted and he isn't in the official movie, is there a chance for him to return? He looks like a unique character.
Maybe it could be added in a blue ray release?
@@therealgmhere5988 they are adding the scene in the DVD/Blue Ray release as additional content. I wish they kept the scen, so we would have a Studio Series Transit and finally a Transformers Bus...

Scourge's cut lines and reasoning should've ABSOLUTLEY been in the movie. Not only would it serve to show that Unicorn is SUCH a threat that even the Terrorcons are afraid of him, but it would make Scourge's actions more grey and morally questionable, plus his face reveal would've had more impact.
An actual crime this was cut.
Also, on Mirage, I feel they should've had him die, and then be revived in the sequel, so his death wasn't reversed so quick. Or, why not show Noah having Wheeljack help rebuild him?
I wish we had gotten more scenes of the Terrorcons and in the theactrical version and explore their dynamic because as soon they land in Brooklyn they already have their vehicle modes when they should’ve scanned them like normal transformers would
I’d really like to see how Nightbird and Scourge picked out their alt modes, specially with how much they really stand out. Maybe Battletrap’s as well.
I wish they gave the maximals more screen time/lines and Beast wars references.
I hope we get to see more of them in the future
1) I do agree that the Transit scene should have stayed. It would have really hit the idea of Prime's inner struggles home even more so, but in my opinion, the cut doesn't take away from that character arc, at least for me, since Mirage explained it later.
2) I also agree that the scenes involving Airazor flying around New York, Cheetor, Rhinox, and the scene with Bumblebee's Polaroid picture of him and Charlie should have stayed, but again, it's not the biggest issue for me.
3) I would have died laughing if they kept the scene where Optimus uses Pablo's glasses!🤣🤣🤣 Here's to hoping it's a deleted scene on Blu-Ray.
4) I do prefer the ending we got versus the test screening ending. I think the scene where Noah and then Primal saves Optimus fits the "Till all are one" narrative they were setting up. Furthermore, I'm grateful that Mirage came back. I really liked Mirage in that movie, so I guess I'm a bit bias on that bit.
5) Overall, these cuts don't ruin my enjoyment of the movie at all, not even a little bit. While I would have liked to see some of the cut scenes in the theatrical cut, I still love what we got! It's definitely my favorite Transformers movie, second only to the Bumblebee Movie.

Honestly I like the subtle implication that Noah dislikes Optimus at first because he reminds him of the people he worked under during his time in the military, when he was notoriously difficult to work with. He goes from seeing Optimus as just a "military general barking orders" to seeing him as another big brother just looking out for his family. So I'm okay with the scene of Noah explaining this connection being cut, the movie does a good job helping the viewer make the connection.
They also cut the part where optimus is chasing scourge through the streets of peru, both in truck mode and optimus rams scourge through a stone wall! Im happy for the most part from the theater cut, i can only hope we will get all the deleted scenes in a special directors cut on dvd! 🤔
Things i think the movie should have kept:
- The transit scene after Noah and Elena's introductions but a little bit less "dark", being followed by the key discovery.
- More character bonding scenes in order to give them more personality, like the conversation between Elena and Airazor before Stratos arrives, the Hints at arcee and Wheeljack having a previous relationship and Bee remembering Charlie more.
- Small scenes and dialogues like the ones that used to belong to Cheetor and Rhinox, the Nerd-Prime funny scene and Little explanations to some inconsistencies and doubts the movie leaves (Mirage's ressurection, habilities and truck mode and Bee's new mode, through small lines)
All of that with more mentions of the decepticons and the scorponoks being recognized as predacons, wheeljack getting his battle mask as a voice modulator on the final battle and the decepticons discovering unicron would have made this move even better for me. Although it didn't blew away my expectations, it left me more than satisfied.

Personally, I really loved the Scourge that we got in the theatrical cut. I just love seeing a villain that just enjoys himself doing terrible things.
My impression towards Scourge is that he's a competent villain. He's evil because that's what he wanted to do, maybe because he enjoys the power he got from Unicron and love the feeling of superiority for being on Unicron's side. Throughout the film the threat of Scourge and the Terrorcon felt real. If the decepticons are radicals, then Terrorcons are, well, full-blown terrorists.
In effect, this also makes Unicron more terrifying. Scourge most likely wouldn't even know that the Transwarp key was split in two. He was so proud of being able to retrieve one half only to be met with fury from his master. This gives the impression that Unicron is a truly insane and powerful entity, where even the very competent Scourge fails to satisfy him time to time.
I understand the appeal of Scourge being not really that evil all along, but perhaps what I wanna argue is that an all-out villainous character is not always shallow.

@@UMIF001 but most of the time, villains who are just evil for the sake of being evil are just boring. Sure, you could make a fun villain out of one who enjoys what he does, but you also run the risk of making him incredibly silly. And maybe it's just me, but I hate cartoonishly silly villains in LIVE-ACTION movies.
He's like Thrust from Transformers Armada with the threat level and menace of Sideways.
I agree on the last part. Lockdown and most versions of Megatron are completely evil, but they still have depth to them. I quite enjoyed Scourge in the film, but the idea behind the original version is interesting enough to be reused in the future for a different character.
Optimus getting met with unicron at the end would’ve been a crazy way to set up the next film, but I would’ve been insanely hurt in all honesty bc how are we really jumping to nemesis prime before we even get megatron on the screen. I wanna cherish every moment I have left with Peter Cullen on the big screen or in any facet honestly.
The opening scene with Optimus killing the deception sounds so cool and I wish that made it into the film either before or after the maximals opening scene to tell both stories of where they were at in their lives currently.
Them not talking about reviving bumblebee would’ve been better overall, but also hard for audiences to pick up on imo cuz I think the reality of it is that scourge used an energon harvester when he shot bee and therefore it adds up why he didn’t die technically.
Hopefully we get a directors cut of this would love to see this in the actual film ( Optimus vs transit)
Agreed, adding the transit scene right before the trans warped key is found and most of the cut lines and other stuff they cut out.
The plan for the original ending was most likely to have Optimus prime turn into Nemesis Prime some time during the next film, probably by Unicron telling prime he could give him the power to stop the Decepticons or by just taking his free will away and by the end of the film he would go back to normal but since they want to do a GI Joe crossover (or might) they probably scrapped or preponed the idea.
As kid I had a smile on my face when optimus brutaly murdered decepticons
I remember Rhinox saying at least two lines, he for sure said something to Primal as he swung his hammer in the final battle because I found it strange how he hadn't spoken yet until that moment
rhinox did actually have one line. he said something about retreating after the main battle.
I want an extended edition release with the additional Rhinox and Cheetor scenes/lines, the extra Wheeljack/Arcee scenes, and the Transit Scene (it could take place right after the Maximal Planet opening)
God I hope we get an extended dvd cut, the only issue with this movie for me was pacing, I think even just an extra 30 mins of run would do wonders for the film. We could've fit the transit scene, the chemistry between wheeljack and arcee and the chase in the forest, which would give opportunities to give the maximals some dialogue.
When the only problem I have with a movie is that it wasn't long enough, I'd consider that a fairly good movie tho. Also wish they had the balls to leave the cliffhanger ending, but I understand that's asking a lot for an action blockbuster like this, very risky to ""kill"" your poster boy in the first movie of the trilogy.
I would have definitely kept the Transit scene but put it somewhere between the Maximal opening and Optimus seeing the Transwarp signal so there wasn't such a gap between robot scenes.
There is one line rhinox says in the final battle where he says to primal that they need support, he is referring to Noah and Elena on that bridge thing.
I watched the movie twice and I’m pretty sure primal says it.
In my opinion they should have just had both the Transit scene and the Maximal one that we got and have the Transit scene come after it.
(Spoiler) My version of this opening wouldn't have been too different, going something like this:
The maximal planet scene would've gone exactly the same as it did in the final cut.
Like in the released version, it would then cut to Brooklyn, focusing on Noah and Elena, but before it gets to the point where Elena is messing around with the key, it would show the battle between Optimus and Transit, and that would've been our introduction to the Autobots. We would see Elena activate the key beacon, like she did in the movie, then we would see Optimus Dumping Transit into the river, and as he's walking away, we would get the same thing we did in the version we got, where he would tell Arcee that it's their way home.

If the scene of rhinox and cheetor being in the cave, if that was still in, it would make more sense to how primal knows that they were looking for the key, maybe cheetor or Rhinox would’ve told primal offscreen
Wheeljack is supposed to have a face plate like Optimus. AND he's supposed to be a bad ass. That is my only blemish

I'm glad that i'm not the only one who thought wheeljack did very little in the movie too, I do have to ask why would a robot need glasses? couldn't they adjust their optics to zoom in? This is just me but it was a good thing they cut the "inside me jokes" because those jokes felt force.
Also Rhinox doesn't say a single line, cheetor only has 3 lines.
Wheeljack using Glasses isn't the most weird thing, he could have a Beard like Alpha Trion in G1 or Sentinel in the Bayverse, i think is just for the Steryotype of "Smart And Peacefull guy"

I can see why some scenes were cut, but for some of them I'm actually glad that they were cut. Like sure, the "inside me" joke is freaking hilarious, but Mirage already said it before the team went to Peru and it was HILARIOUS because he said it to Noah. So I think having Wheeljack say it to Arcee would have just felt a bit like kicking a dead horse. I do like how we can see some remnants of Wheeljack and Arcee having a thing for each other during the final battle though. Seeing them fight side by side was nice. It was giving me TFP Arcee and Wheeljack teamup vibes!
I actually like the ending that we got with OP not ending up in space and seeing Unicron. I am a sucker for cheesy shit, so when Noah tried to save OP and said "til all are one", I thought that was a powerful moment. And when Optimus Primal said it and grabbed OP at the last second just as we thought OP would fall into the portal, that was just **chef's kiss** It was nice seeing them all escape together and seeing OP smile at Noah when they were inside Stratosphere heading home. I don't know, I just found that ending much more satisfying.
I would have been so pissed if Mirage actually ended up dying for real, so I'm really glad that he came back and turned into an exosuit for Noah. He was such a funny character and I actually like that most of the comic relief came from him. I actually wish they kept the scene with him joking about them crashing while inside Stratosphere. Because given his rickety ass state, I would have said the same damn thing if I was there. 😂 I really like the post-credit scene with Noah smiling and seeing Mirage transform. That was sweet.
All in all, ROTB was very entertaining and I really enjoyed it. I watched it for the 3rd time yesterday night and it was just as good as when I first watched it on opening night. I am really hoping we get to see all the deleted scenes, especially the scenes with Airazor and Elena and additional Maximals scenes.
Also, man! I really wish the "way bigger than a planet" scene made the final cut! And the "Wait, you can talk?" scene would have been funny!

Showing Optimus with Transit would have made the film waaaay better as the one thing i thought the film lacked was Optimus’ motivation and reason for being so bummed out and angry
So Steven caple jr said he wanted to incorporate megatron and the decepticons somehow. So I was thinking that maybe in the sequel it could do somewhat of a recap explaining what happened after and than cut to Noah saying “and Optimus… well optimus kept defending earth, he kept defending it from the decepticons”. And then show the transit scene.
That maximal opening in 4DX was probably one of the most memorable moments for me in all of my time going to the movies. Theater was empty today so I got to soak it all in. I gotta say I wish there would be an extended cut that surpasses two hours.
I really hope we get to see some of these deleted scenes in some sort of extended cut once the film gets released on dvd because one of the problems I had with rise of the beasts was that characters like arcee, wheeljack, cheetor, rhinox, nightbird and battletrap was that we didn’t get that much scenes with them to know there characters so maybe if we get get an extended cut or some of those deleted scenes could be part of the bonus features
You could tell a huge chunk was cut from between Noah and Elena in the cave to when they were in the jungle. They just appeared in the jungle out of nowhere then got stopped by Primal.
Definitely would’ve liked to see the Transit scene at some point in the film, just not the opening scene.
I’d also have LOVED to see more Maximals scenes/dialogue, especially the “big bot” dialogue and Elaina and Airazor talking about “turning bots heads”😂 I love Michelle Yeoh
Wheeljack fixing up Optimus or even talking about Bee would’ve been cool, I read another comment that said if one of the bots just elaborated on Bee’s state that would’ve worked better and I fully agree.
Mirage did tell Noah he needed to take the controls, he was low of power and heavily damaged but not quite out of the fight! So I’ve got no issue with that personally
I love the idea that Bee carries around a picture of Charlie, maybe has it hanging around his rear mirror? That’s so sweet
Something I noticed is that in Bumblebee, at the end on the bridge we see Bee and Prime with his Trailer. We don’t see the trailer in ROTB.

Tbh I'm much more happy with the final cut additions than the test screenings. I do definitely like the final cut ending because getting that scene with Arrival To Earth blasting in the background is too awesome to ignore, and I do feel that Mirage living was great since it gives his character more room to grow and interact with the Autobots. However the Transit scene should've obviously kept to further connect the Bumblebee movie as well as the scene with the Polaroid. Overall though, I am happy with what we got in the final cut and I hope the franchise gets better from here.

I'm glad the transit scene was cut because it would have made optimus seem like a maniac like in the bay films not the heroic leader of the autobots who fight for the freedom of all sentient beings including decepticons
The dark ending would have been like the 86 movie all over again, Optimus is gone and no one knows if he would come back unless angry parents rise again.
I'm happy they never had optimist stuck inside the portal because I would rather save optimist throughout the entire trilogy so we can build up so he's face-to-face with Unicron in the 3rd movie instead and have Optimus prime fight Megatron in the second movie instead

Personally, I think that they still could’ve added the transit scene along with the maximal scene by just simply putting transit scenes after the title of the movie pops up and then cut to it and it wouldn’t effect how to movie is, just making it a little bit longer
i think the transit scene would've worked as a scene in the current film, they could've had that fight and then have prime see the beam
Rhinox does in fact have ONE line, but it’s really hard to catch, and follows some dialogue from Cheetor. I believe it was something along the lines of “We’ll cover you!” or something.
I’m indifferent about the changes. But I am very impressed about the effort they put in. The fact they considered all these different course shows they really cared about it !

I liked that Optimus was way more G1 looking and was not perfect in any way. He was flawed big time and was a different kind of fearless. Even tho he was overpowered by scourge in the first fight, he still came at him with a ton of confidence.

Prime's monologue in the beginning of the film would've been a great homage to the bay films where it usually opens up in the same way. However, what we got in return was satisfactory I guess.
That was my only real problem with the film, I wish that they will release an extended cut where the Maximals have more screen time in the film and they gave Cheetor and especially Rhinox more lines because this is their debut in live action, and they felt sidelined.
I think the opening could be both showing how both prime and scourge are threatening

Besides some scenes with the more underrepresented characters, I feel that most of these scenes were cut for good reason. The Transit scene was a bit too extreme (though I hope they sneak him into a future film), some of the innuendo here was a bit odd and the "inside me" joke feels more natural coming out of Mirage than Wheeljack, and ending the first Transformer film in 5 years that could determine the future of the franchise with a cliffhanger ending that implies that they planned to tread on similar ground to The Last Knight would be a bad idea. Ultimately, I think we got a better film in the end.
Transit should be in the film that's after Megatron's introduction to show that the decepticons are still a threat
@ashuraomega7113 It might have been good to keep the scene out of the film to keep their threat level more vague until the Decepticons show up again proper. It should also be noted that test audiences did not react well to the scene for the exact reason I listed, maybe they could had changed it but they possibly did not have enough time to or could not figure out a good way to do so.

I feel that a lot of these cut things should have been in the movie just to add more information to most the movie and more unification of this movie and bumble bee.
The line, "Unicron is a myth" was a line that was used in the war for Cybertron trilogy earthrise on netflix when Optimus Prime fought Nemesis Prime, so I really wanted to hear that line.
For some reason I had this idea that Scourge was going to be Bayverse Prime and was turned by Unicron and the movie would go more in depth with Prime learning about the future and we might have seen what would’ve happened to the Bayverse timeline if it followed more into the Unicron storyline and how they failed to stop him in that timeline and time travel back to the past to let him eat earth faster with the help of turn evil Bayverse Optimus and Reboot Prime would be in denial about how he turned evil and he could go through this character arc about writing his own future and then they end up stopping Unicron and change the timeline and then they can successfully reboot the series without retconning it. What made me think about this was the trailer and how Primal said in the trailer “in both your past and your future you’ve never faced a threat like this” it almost seemed like they were hinting towards time travel.
I wish they kept one death and made Cheator and Rhinox speak. Also an Airazor alt mode would've been cool.
It sucks how a lot of good stuff has been deleted. Especially that part where Scourge was a reluctant villain. It could have separated him from all the other live action baddies from the other films, who are simply evil and loyal to their causes.
If they do release an extended cut I hope it’s not just dvd but on stream platforms like prime
I only realized that the art we have on Transit may very well not be the exact same design as the Transit we'll see in the blue ray

I'm EXTREMELY happy we never got that darker ending. The final cut was WAY better! Also, I really wish they added the Transit fight, but not as the intro.
Gutted at this movie ! The had so much potential with g1 looks from bumble bee and absolutely chucked it with this movie.

16:36 i thought it was mirage kinda powers down or goes into like a battery saving mode when he turns a suit for Noah and he does help him like when he uses his boosters and Noah looks confused and since Mirage was on low power (as he says) he can’t really transform so Noah has to help him out and rebuild him
Compeletly disagree with your take on Optimus should have been taken to Unicron. I do not think having a dark ending in the first movie of a new series is good. Thats really bad. its like having Ironman die with the villian in the first Ironman movie. Its dark for the sake of being dark and im so glad they went with the ending they did. A movie being dark does not equal to a movie being deep and good. Optimus primes Sacerfice was still very heart moving because Noah first gave his life up for them and now He did the same. But they all came back because they will continue the fight. Till all are one.
Wasn’t the chase scene in Peru cut from the final version ? I can’t remember well but I could swear I didn’t saw Optimus ramming Scourge against a brick wall ... neither anything from the chase in the town. Even though that was the first footage we saw when it was being filmed.
