Great video Derrick, I always look forward to them. One of my favorite channels on RUclips for sure!! Thank you for all your hard work putting these vids together for us!! 🔥😎
Yeah back in the 90’s we made these RCA boxes and used a Phoenix Gold line driver to dial in the desired voltage. Using a Oscilloscope to find the square wave before it goes to the amp for a clean signal.
The volume is important when gain matching. Ideally you want to do it with the subwoofers unhooked at full playing volume. Then you need to match the lpf and subsonic if those are being used, then the most important part last, phase matching. You need a scope with two probes. I can’t believe you aren’t phase matching them. You are loosing so much from not phase matching, once you see it on a scope you will understand. Hope you listen
Excellent video, question does the same line driver setup work for a sq setup and for example what input hz would you use 40, 50, 60 or 80 etc for gain matching. I use 50hz but man like you said my input voltage was off on my 3 sub amps the lowest being 1.9 v and I think the hi was 2.4v
I am so glad u made this video I have been thanking about putting one in mine ride and this video dumbed it down just perfect for me LMAO thank you for your videos keep doing your thing
i kinda buzzed through cause ive seen a ton of gaiun matching but did you check phasing too. ive seen amps have issues with phasing being different even when it was at 0
Great video as usual... sometime the audio dips a bit low, but I like the idea of using the line driver essentially as a "Master gain" for everything after they're all matched
Its a burp only setup, so he doesn't need to really worry about it, the SPL score will tell him if hes clipping to much or not, a little bit of clipping is not gonna hurt a burp setup.
If you don't mind me asking what was the the issue with that noise coming thru the speakers ?,,I have the same problem with mine maybe 🤔 what you did to fix it might help me with my setup...thanks
Great video as usual but trying to clarify this in my mind... if you work from max gains on your amp aren't you going to be clipping? Or can you control that from your line driver?
I also wondered this, because the amps are gain matched near 100% gain wont the amps go into clipping way before they even get half volume on the headunit?
Was the noise from the cock box? I see your not using the inputs on it any more. How will you know how high you can push it at the line driver without clipping?
Can I use this for 2 4channel amps or how do I wire 2 4channel amps? I’m adding 4 6.5 deaf bonce Arnold’s on my Camaro powered by skar audio skv2 4 channel amp and I want to put 4 apocalypse t25 tweeters wired to another 4 channel amp. Am I doing this correctly? I’m new to the game so I want to get it done right
absolutely hate the term gain matching.......technically it's signal matching, a radio may turn to lvl 40 with 4v output on volume but starts to distort at 20 and only puts out 1.5v at that volume, gain matching makes the gain on the amp sound like a volume knob.
Cool vid bro!!! Is running other gear into amps power & ground inputs damage or fry the amp? I was told that each unit needs dedicated power & ground.. What did you do to solve the noise problem? That would have been great content considering lots of builds on RUclips has noise issues!
I have the same line drive but it’s black. I just saw them on either droppinhzcaraudio.com or skyhighcaraudio.com. Sorry, can’t Remember exactly which one
@@408SPLKINGS no it wasn't that the mids amp didn't like all left inputs on one side and all right inputs on the other, once I split them and separated left to proper right all was good some amps don't mind ,buy some do,I guess 🤔
Definitely loosing voltage with every split. Y splitters are big band aide. Audiophiles chase for every volt possible. Buy the highest voltage head unit you can ( 4-5 volts + ) & line driver ( 4-9 volts + ) higher the voltage, cleaner & stronger the signal = less stress & better SQ / SPL
@@408SPLKINGS I already have a good high volt out head unit.(pioneer 80-prs) . I was just curious to how many signal splits until signal (voltage) is noticeably dropped. I don't have any, but my buddy sure does.
I want to know if the main head unit wil be the same meaning 2-5 volt will be the same once ran through the cock box out I'm sure it is a dumb question but it is what it's what im I'm dummy
Jason Stokes the cockbox like Y splitters will cause slight voltage drop ... this is why he has the line driver as a “ master “ to control the loss across the rca inputs
G-Style he says why like not even 2 min in the video 😩 he already did that with Y splitters and it’s not the best organized way to do it and it’s messy and hard to keep up with even labeled..
Well the reason I'm asking is I have six HCCA 5k's with no splitters, amps have in/out. I didn't know if there was a major signal loss issue or what. My amps are in the rear back door area and in the very back so was easy to jump from one to the next 😁
If you look in the glass there is a reflection of some dude who is it where is the reflection coming from if some creepy dude that doesn't move the entire video he's there the entire video whose reflection is it
I absolutely love your videos ! I like that you take the time to explain everything thoroughly. Keep the videos coming !
Great video Derrick, I always look forward to them. One of my favorite channels on RUclips for sure!! Thank you for all your hard work putting these vids together for us!! 🔥😎
Good video, Glad you like the CockBox and thank you for the shout out.

What was the noise issue? And what did you have to do to rectify it??
Yep would like to know this as well.
probably rcas being too close to power wires or problem with rca grounds
Wondering the same thing

Totally understand and it makes 100% sense...good luck with the late nights on getting it ready
Please keep making these kind of videos! Also we can’t wait for the SALT line to drop! Stay blessed!
Great tutorial, video, audio & lesson.
Awesome job thanks Sir 👍👍
Most awesome video as always brother Derrick!!!! PSPL IS A PURE BEAST!!!!!
Good explanation of the line driver bought what you dit to take out the noise.
Dude! I was wondering why you set the line driver low...thats awesome!!! Sick litrle tios and tweaks!
This video is great, your explanations are just fine. Helped me out a lot
In my opinion musical builds are my thing. When they can all day hit 30-35hz...
Thank you for the information and the how to on the set up.
Great video as usual... sometime the audio dips a bit low, but I like the idea of using the line driver essentially as a "Master gain" for everything after they're all matched
Cant get enough of these videos 😒
Any videos on actually adjusting the line driver.. an what voltage you change it too an so on
Curious as to why not use a oscope instead of basic multimeter ? You not worried about a clipped signal ?

Good stuff! Thank you for taking the time to explain all that!
Is it better to match with a dual input oscilloscope?
I had to use a line driver to run my crown 1200 on my two 15's off my denon 7.1 avr in my house. Works great!

Dieselman40 yea he’s controlling clipping from the line driver. It’s smart
I also wondered this, because the amps are gain matched near 100% gain wont the amps go into clipping way before they even get half volume on the headunit?
I might be wrong but cant you unplug the subs and still gain match without subs moving
GREAT JOB BROTHER I UNDERSTOOD EVERYTHING!!!!

Can you show how you adjusted the line driver? Thanks

Can you do the gain adjustment for the mids and tweeters to?
I think you did an excellent job explaining bro 👍👍
Was that feedback from recording mic placement. Just curious. Appreciate the vids n good luck on the build.
I was wondering what was the cause of your bouse you had? And what causes power pop????

amp gains all the way up clipping the amps ? then turn down to no clip on line driver
What about setting the low pass filter for matching
What was the reason for the noise having the same problem
Bravo excellent good video brother nicely well done
Why dit you have the noise and how did you fix it?
Always makes good videos
Derrick how you make this With the Bassknob
excellent content as always
What caused the noise?
Will sealing the wood gain some DB? Always hear people swearing it does.
No. Double your wattage & gain 3 Db
I had to split my channels on my Mona blocks , don't know why but it was half power any other way, ideas?
You split voltage you split the power = less wattage. Simple common sense

Does rca voltage drop if split to many times? I do it a lot and never really known if it does or not. Thanks..

Yes, by a couple of tenths each split.

clear and understandable
This seems like a very instructional type video. It would be nice if I could hear what you were saying.
Why are these boxes so expensive??? Maybe we should raise our prices lol.
Why not run RCA's from amp to amp?

If you screenshot it and zoom in I do not think you're right
And if it was a reflection from a dust cap where's the dust cap there's nothing in that picture that would cause that reflection
