This is great seeing the final drive on this beast! These folks work very hard where this is! I was a millwright on a Rolling mill and would NEVER do this kind of work without steel toe heavy work boots! I give them a lot of credit!

How do any of these guys still have any toes left? I mean, I'm sure they are experienced and try to be careful, but accidents happen, and with no foot protection whatsoever, there is no margin for error.
they are used to working this way, no margin for error as you say means you are that much more mindful of hand and foot placement and ready to move if things go south
I like these guys much better because they don't have those giant disgusting beards very clean and better groomed why anyone wants pubic hairs on their face I wouldn't understand these guys are more respectable
I can't but remember my late coworker who lost a toe because he wasn't wearing his steel toe shoes on one particular day he was helping move a heavy piece of equipment... lost his toe and job... OSHA would destroy this countries economy over night
I would do diesel truck brakes on a Mac diesel truck or Peterbilt that would last 2 years and I made like 18 bucks an hour and 100 bucks to do a job that now I realize was worth over $1,500 I kind of felt stupid

I have been a cat mechanic for 35 years and i think that final drive will last for years. As long as they don't use it. At all.

They probably have many replacements
* Don't forget to throw a couple handfuls of dirt in before final assembly. What did they even do ? didn't look like they replaced any parts
Did I miss something because it looks like that end cap was missing a couple of bolts after final assembly.
I think the machine should have been washed at least maybe a bit less dirt would be inside after rebuild
when they are assembled at the factory it is near hospital room clean not here!

Working to close to the dirt
It would take CAT mechanics a month to do that job even with all there air tools and electric hoist.
I think the new piece ist also scrap metal.
