    I reviewed the Outin Nano *AGAIN* after a full year of use and compared it to a brand new unit... *is it still worth it?* Watch and find out! ruclips.net/video/duCI9a3fdSA/видео.html

    I have the Outin Nano and here is what I found -- that the amount of water retention depends upon your roast and grind. I was surprised to find this out when I tested it with freshly roasted coffee from Bazzar Coffee in Canton, GA. Secondly, I like the idea of freshly ground coffee -- but sometimes when I'm on the move, I like the convenience of Nespresso Pods. It's really fast and concenient. For a while I thought I had to choose, but I was amazed to learn that the unused portafilter neatly and snugly stores in the water chamber. I understand your concerns about how many cups can be brewed on a single charge, but for me as a motorcyclists and backpacker it hasn't been a problem. Great video.

    • @lizhappybeans
      @lizhappybeans  Год назад +2

      Thank you! This is really valuable. I agree on the convenience of pods. I would totally suggest this for people who likes and uses pods regularly, and I believe pretty much every portable espresso machine has an adapter for those.
      Also, I didn’t even think about putting the extra portafilter up there hahahah. This is a great tip!
      I agree, in an individual level, this machine is great. When I use it at work, one charge is enough for the cups I brew in a day so it’s never been an issue. But as soon as there’s a second person using it, it stops being as convenient.
      Thank you for this comment! 🙏

      Could you comment on the quality of the result from the pods? Thx

      @ToddBryantsr Год назад +4

      @@fluffylambut I have used the Good & Gather Signature pods. They are rich, flavorful, economical and convenient. Generally I use fresh ground coffee from local roasteries but that easily adds about 3-5 lbs in weight all in. It's worth it if you're a fanatic but the pods can't be beat if you are traveling light. Additionally I carry a HALO Bolt 58830 mWh Portable battery. It can charge the Outin 4 times, or around 16 pods. It's very handy. Finally get a set of double walled glass espresso cups. They add a bit of luxury to your kit. Cheers

    A Dedica barely reaches 12.5bar and is rated at 20bars while being a 220Volts powered expresso maker. Hard to believe the 20bars selling point for something battery operated and using a tiny inner pump. That is the reason why the result is watery as well, in reality is running at a low pressure, unable to fully extract that magic creamy expresso. Great review, btw!

    Good video but I would like to know which machine makes the best crema? I don't really need a manual or non-electric machine. My main concern is weight and coffee quality. Any other machines make better crema and larger output (double espresso)?
    Thanks

    • @lizhappybeans
      @lizhappybeans  6 месяцев назад

      A lot of other machines produce more crema and double espresso shots (including the Outin Nano if you use the double basket they released after this video was made!) - but the truth is that the crema in your shot is a lot more dependent on the freshness of your coffee beans than the espresso machine! At the end of the day, what creates the microbubbles in espresso crema is the release of CO2 which is more present the fresher the beans are!
      Hope this helps :)

    I have a GCP at home and wanted something for occasional travel, always by car. I was looking at the Outin and the Picopress. There are a LOT of "Outin" available at deep discount on e-bay (even considering shipping cost differences) and my long experience with battery-operated electronics indicates it is unlikely to last all that long. The Picopress requires a lot of hot water to preheat the unit and then to brew (and the shots tend to be on the cool-side). >>> Based on my research and my needs... I have a tiny propane camping stove meant for backpacking. I can make a nice coffee anywhere with my moka pot. It's not espresso, per se but close enough for travel. I get a good-sized coffee that is HOT.

      This is a pressurized portafilter that is plastic yes, and has a plastic dispersion screen but not a filter.

      The pressurized portafilter is made out of a BPA-free plastic.
      Also, they now have the Nano Basket Plus which is made out of food-grade stainless steel!

    5-6g of coffee is just not nearly enough.

      Since I made the video, they have released a double basket so you can use 16-18g of coffee and produce a double espresso shot.

  • @Jack_Hunt
    @Jack_Hunt Год назад +27

    You cant make a two shots espresso with only 5 to 6 grams of coffee. That is bullshit. The standard in coffee shops is 7 to 10 for a single and 16 to 18 grams for a double. Why does the manufacturers keep getting it wrong!!!! URGH. You end up with weak espresso. That's why i stick with wacaco picopresso it lets you have up to 18 grams to create a double and less if you want a single. This outin company needs to be fired!!!!

      Picopresso is amazing. I can see why people would opt for this option. It's simpler and convenient for those who just want coffee. You gotta be serious about coffee to f*ck with Picopresso. Not very many people are serious.

    if you can heat up the water, why not using a manual pump version for $60 ? :)

      I think I just ground the coffee too fine! But regardless of how the puck looks at the end of extraction, what really matters is that you enjoy the coffee it's producing. Cheers!
