The Beginner's Guide To Making GREAT Espresso at Home!
❤❤❤
❤️❤️❤️
Nah after a year of experimentation, I have gone back to a basic setup. I use a blind basket as a cover on my Niche dosing cup so I can use it as a poor mans blind shaker, distribute by tapping and then tamp with a beautiful one-piece tamper without any fancy leveling or pressure calibration. It might not work for super light roasts, but espresso is meant to be a little darker.
Simple often wins the race ☺️ Thanks for sharing your experience ☕️ Cheers!
Am I the only one that faces issue that the cyclone WDT is unable to reach the bottom of the portafilter basket?
Have you tried adjusting height? Mine didn’t either at the beginning, but I changed the height and it’s been working great after.
I have the DF 54 and think that 45-55 is too fine for pourovers. Ive just been doing it at 85-90 since I'd be thinking that's way too fine of a grind. Even then my current grind size is finer than my usual hand grinders than what used to use before this.
Your content is so good! Thank you.
Thank you! ☺️☕️
Do you also use pre infusion to pull a shot ?
Amazing video.
Theres like 10 different brands that have spring action tampers.
Please share! 🙏🫶
What do I do if the pressure gauge is still in the gray? When you pull out port filter, should it be watery?
There's a wonderful presentations style here, reminiscent of America's Test Kitchen, that I haven't seen on coffee youtube otherwise.I really like the vibe. For me, MHW's aesthetic is just ungodly awful, and I couldn't buy their products, but that's nothing to do with you. I really liked your review style.
I really enjoy your channel and your good vibes. Thanks for the great video!
Thanks for the support! Glad to have you around ☕️
Does your impeller spin or just the bottom part spins? My impeller stays stationary.
Thanks) Hi from 🇷🇺
Thank you for watching! ☕️
Thank you! As a wait for my Meraki learning about all of the other tools out there is so helpful!
Exciting times for you! I hope you’ll soon be enjoying your new espresso machine ☕️
So, if you're using a Moka pot, how many ounces should you use? If I had a 3 cup pot, would I use all of it (150ml) or just 2oz. (60ml)?
What is half and half?
Half-and-half is a mixture of equal parts whole milk and cream.
Thanks for making this video. I was just wondering which one makes stronger coffee? Moka Pot or Vietnamese fin filter?
I have my 6 cup moka pot and i grind my arabica medium roast beana to med fine.... It was so fragrant and creamy but it taste sour.....i dont know why what to do?
I have had a Niche Zero for 2+ years and have a DF54 for 3 months, in comparison the DF54 is way better value for money if I was to buy only one grinder now I would buy the DF54 in a heartbeat. The workflow is very similar and both make great coffee in slightly different styles
Incredibly detailed dive in review! Thanks a lot!
Nice review. FYI please have in mind espresso has nothing to do with express - it started as a misspelling by non Italian speaking people. Espresso means "pressed out" and describes the extraction method.
Hey Liz! I LOVE your aprons you wear. Wondering what brand/model you like? Thinking my wife would love this as a gift. Thanks in advance!
Thank you for the kind comment! They have been great so far, I have both the black and the "cappuccino brown" one. This is the link to the exact one I'm wearing: amzn.to/47IAAyi It seems like it's currently on sale with a 39% off, so it may be a good time to get this! Cheers!
Love your attitude and attention to detail. You are also very clear and distinct. Thanks.
Thank you so much for your positive feedback! I hope to see you around for more ☕️
Yummy 🤤
😋
Perfect video! Is there any information about shipping to Europe? Can't wait to have one!
Great video but isn't the replacement of the spring with a 9 bar spring going to void your manufacturers warranty?
Exactly as she says on 0:35, indeed it will.
@luibodden OK thanks. But does opening up break any seal around the lid or is it otherwise visible that it has been opened?
I believe first human like robots will be more human then those
Looks yummy 😋
The Expresso machine I’m currently using is GE CAFE Bellissimo purchased in 02/22 to match the other CAFE smart appliances which are monitored and controlled by the SmartHQ app on iPhone and iPad. The app allows me to control single/double grind time and water temp/volume for brewing and hot water. It sends warnings when water reservoir in empty, grinder jam and cleaning cycle every 70 liters of water. Putting that intelligence in the app instead of touch screen on the machine is one of the reasons it sold for $530 when I bought it and $579 today. It appears to be made for GE by Breville for about 60% of the cost it’s machine with similar design and function and build-in touch screen. Unfortunately after just two years of light 2-3 shot per day use it started leaking internally from the water-brew-steam valve and will soon become an expensive doorstop because it is not repairable, not even a replacement group head seal. The Meraki interests me but having been burned before on kickstarter companies going belly up after a year or so I’m not inclined to buy one. What I would really like is a machine like a ECM or Profitec with more robust internals with an iPhone app control interface instead of the primitive electronic user interface for the PID which reminds me of programming machine tools back in the 1980s all the “old school” Expresso machines, even the $3k+ ones seem source from the same vendor. How difficult / more expensive would it be for them to integrate a iPhone based app control system like the GE Cafe?
Thanks ,so nice ,if anyone is doing KETO just switch out the sugar to Swerve ...it's low carb.
what should be the target average flow rate?
This really depends on your recipe (dose, target yield, etc.). For me though, I’ve seen the best results when pouring around 4.5 to 5g per second. Hope this helps!
@@lizhappybeans thank you!
Enjoy!
Thanks!
Seems like this brand not great for latte art
I love your videos with recipes and teaching techniques and i watch them again and again. I love your vibe. I have most of my gear now, so I skip those.
Feliz cumpleaños, querida Liz 🎉
Gracias! 🎂❤️
Happy birthday 🎈🎁🎉🎊🎂
Thank you! ☺️
HBD 🥳 🎂🎁
Thanks
For me, i like to make nice coffee beans with my boujee machine, and whilst I don't mind pure black coffee, I do prefer some 0cal sweetener.
How long is the warmup on this machine?
It usually takes about 3 mins to be ready to brew and an additional 45 secs to a minute to be ready to steam.
This thing looks like a miniature of an industrial plant.
Well, now I can't unsee it!
Great review! Can I use any whole milk? or does it have to be a certain brand?
Any whole, 3.25% homogenized milk would do! 💛 🥛
Thank you! So glad to have found your channel. I’m waiting for my Dreo to ship. It’s hard to get those brands in Canada. I love the Kirkland unsweetened almond milk in my aeroccino. 😢 the Elmhurst is so spendy here.
Amazing! I hope you love it! 😍
🎉
That kettle looks gorgeous
Agreed! So aesthetically pleasing 😍
But when you are back in cero that you can’t move it, the you go coarse because is the only way an if you go 8 clicks is for fine ?
That's correct. Timemore advises not to use the first 6 fine settings to avoid damaging the burrs. So, you'll start at least at 7 or 8 for good measure.
Espresso wasn’t invented when the machine was. I feel like that says enough. This is completely misleading. It may not be as perfect in the eyes of extreme cones suers but it’s still Espresso nonetheless.
When was Espresso invented?
Well yeah roasting makes the size/density of coffee beans different but is the beans of same varietal & origin 🤔
So is so bad this grinder becuase for a expreso you need a lot of time
No it isn’t! Hahahaha. It took so long because I was doing it wrong and broke it. Watch the next video I made assembling it and testing it back again 😅
5-6g of coffee is just not nearly enough.
Since I made the video, they have released a double basket so you can use 16-18g of coffee and produce a double espresso shot.
I mean Eureka Mignon Manuale is like 60€ cheaper, 50mm vs 54mm, Eureka has 1 year longer warranty and proven to be reliable. DF54 has no merit to its name yet. Also they are sold out/pre order and their webstore looks like from 2004 and 46€ shipping. 22% of the cost is shipping
If Eureka fits your needs better, absolutely go for it! Shipping costs will certainly vary depending on your location. Cheers!
@@lizhappybeans it's not about my needs it's about value per dollar. If you claim something is best for 300 you need to take everything in to account including warranty and reliability
Hi! My apologies but in any way I claimed that the DF was the best. I ask a question, and present my findings and opinions for the viewer to determine. I assign a score that’s totally based on my experience and recommendation to this grinder, as I found it to be a great option for beginners. I do agree that reliability and warranty are two important factors for many to buy a grinder. But it also depends on where you buy the tool, at least on this side of the world, as we don’t buy it directly from the manufacturer. A 100yo brand like Eureka will always have the prestige that a brand like Turin hasn’t earned, but I stand by my opinion that this is a great option and you’re getting a good tool for the cost. And again, this all depends on where you’re located. It was harder for me to get my Eureka Mignon in Canada, and it was more expensive than the DF54. Maybe in the future I’ll make a comparison if that’s what my audience wants to see. 🫶
