  • Here's a recap of my 1993 Mustang's 331 stroker build. We finished the engine build in August of 2015 and have cruised it, raced it, and sent it without problems since then. We recently took the engine out to prepare for a new, better, bigger build with a little bit of help from a sponsor...which I will get into in another video. For now, here's a brief overview of how much the 331 stroker build was. #331Stroker #331FoxBody #331Mustang
    This is all past footage, so video was initially just taken for our viewing pleasure. Future recordings will focus more on audience viewing pleasure.
    Since the creation of this video, we've opened up a performance shop! If you're interested in learning more about what it takes to build a stock block SBF to this capacity, feel free to call or message us at the information listed below. We are also a parts supplier and are a dealer for a few brands listed on the build sheet for this car, mainly TrickFlow.

    I built a 332ci for street and mine made 360rwhp & 380 rwtq, were those dyno numbers shown or rear wheel or adjusted? Adjusted using 15% loss mine was @ 423HP & 447 lb ft. Mine was a mild street motor small 224/221 duration cam and 1 5/8” shorties both holding it back but what a blast on the street, too much torque I should have speced cam for more HP than to because I was constantly spinning my tires. Yours sounds solid great job!

I'm currently building a 363 as well (started as a 9.5" deck early 70's 351W block bored .060 over) with Keith Black flat top pistons (6.5cc valve reliefs), AFR 185cc Renegade heads with 58cc chambers (should give a static compression ratio of about 11:1), a big duration hydraulic flat tappet camshaft (297/305 advertised duration, .512/.528 lift, 109 LSA), Edlebrock performer rpm air gap dual plane intake (lightly ported and port matched to the heads), and a Holley 750 carb. It'll be going in a '71 Ford Maverick that weighs about 2,800 pounds, with a 3 Speed Toploader manual transmission and a Ford 9" rear end. Along with only running an alternator and water pump for engine accessories (no AC, no Power Steering, electric fans, electric fuel pump), and the low 6% to 10% drivetrain losses this setup should be capabilities of, I'm expecting somewhere in the neighborhood of 420 to 440 HP at the wheels. Did you ever think about putting an Automatic Transmission in it ?
    I Had my 86 Fox Body for Little Over 24 Years, Had a Few Different Engine Combos in it, Now it's a 521 Stroked BBF. Ran a 351 Windsor, 351 Cleveland, And NOW it's a Big Block, i Always Loved a High Winding Small Block, Especially the Cleveland, would Turn 7500 RPM with that Combo. Car was originally a T-5 Transmission, blew up 3rd Gear 2 Times, Then Switched to a Tremec TKO Broke my Fair Share of Drivetrain Parts with it But It was a Solid Unit. Every so often would Miss a Gear once in a while. So a few years back i put a Built C-4 in it and Absolutely Love it. At first i thought the Automatic would be Boring, BUT when you Shift it into 2nd then into High Gear and it Totally Barks the Tires Big Time. I won't get rid of it for Nothing. Except might have to go the Powerglide Route. I'm going Low to Mid Nines, on a 275/60 Drag Radial. Very Basic Engine. 1000 cfm 4150 Holley by Pro-Systems, Out of the Box Trickflow 429-460 Street/Strip Heads, Decent Solid Roller Cam, 8.8 With Moser Spool and 33 Spline Axles and 3.90 Gears. And a Built C-4 by Pro Formance Transmissions, Manual Valve Body, Extra Clutches, Hardened Inputs Shaft, NO Trans Brake. 8" Converter Originally Built by Dynamic Converters. Was Totally Redone by Lenny at Ultimate Converter Concepts when i switched to the Big Block, it's about 4200 rpm Stall Speed.
    To make a Long Story Short, I'm just Totally Impressed with the Automatic Transmission. My Brother is Running a C-6 Built by Dynamic Racing Transmissions in his 85 Fox Body with a 351 Cleveland. Basically same Transmission Work done to it, Reverse Manual Valve Body, NO Trans Brake. My C-4 Shifts Way Harder than his C-6. Both Transmissions were Done by Different People so I'm sure that makes a difference to how ever they Modify the Valve Body. His C-6 is a Huge Monster compared to my Little C-4, I know the C-4 likes Higher RPM,s compared to the Heavier Internals of the C-6.
    When i Bought my Transmission they said it be Good to Around 850 H.P. i can probably bump that Up to 1000 H.P. With some Upgraded Planetary. But My Car would be More Consistent with a Powerglide, especially since I'm on a 275/60 Radial. Also Some Built Powerglides can Handle Some Serious Power, More than a C-4 Can Ever Handle.
    So what I'm getting at is that if you ever Decide to Switch to an Automatic, i Don't Think you would be Disappointed. I Sure Wasn't.
    Also all my Engine Combos are Naturally Aspirated through a Carburetor. Tried Nitrous back when it had the Fuel Injected 5.0 it really didn't work out for me. I'm a Big Fan of Large Single Turbos, one Day my Big Block will have a Single 98-106mm Garrett on it. When i Hit the Lotto.

    • @midnight347
      @midnight347 3 года назад

      @@aaronespinoza1630 to get these kinda numbers ya gotta be alot more aggressive than that on the heads. It has to be a fairly aggressive setup and it all needs to compliment one another to get max power. That is the difference between builds that make alot and others that dont make as much mismatched parts and things in the setup as a whole that arent optimal. If you want max power you need some ported aftermarket heads with a custom ground cam and a port matched intake manifold one of the good intakes like holley systemax or edlebrock rpm 2. I would also run the most compression you can run on the fuel youre gonna be using. I wouldnt go any less than 10.5:1 or even 11:1 even if you're gonna be running 93. If youre running e or race fuel you can go higher than that. All these things matter. Long tube headers also not shortys you need them for max performance with shorties you are def sacrificing hp especially with a built stroker. I once had a 95 with a built 10.5:1 347 it had the basic trickflow hci. It had the stage 3 trickflow cam but twisted wedge out the box heads and a track heat intake. It had shorties and a stock intake elbow with dirty filter that was restricting it long tubes and an Anderson power pipe would have prob picked up 30-40 hp on that car combined. It could have made alot more power than it was making it was prob in the 325/380 range if i were guessing but it was being held back by alot of different stuff it was built by the previous owner and the combo wasnt 100% complimentary of each other. That can and will cost you power so do your homework and do it right the first time make sure everything is optimal that is how you make max power.

      @@douglasbrodock573 yeah I figured. We speced out the intake and exhaust to be as free-flowing ad possible. We also made sure the heads flowed the numbers we wanted. When we got the cam in, we advanced it to bring the power curve up higher as well. You may be able to do this now if your setup can support it.

      Fords are cheaper than Chevy when it comes to stroker clearancing , balancing rotating assembly, and cubic inches. Parts wise, when it comes to Ford, you get what you pay for. I worked in a machine shop for over 10 years building race motors.
