-Ellie immunity doesn't matter for a cure

-Ellie and Jackson will join fireflies to unite world, enough pointless fighting
-Ellie reason to fight = better world for JJ to grow up in, nobody has to go through what she did
-Ellie and Abby won't be friends but will get shit done
-End it with old Ellie telling jokes to JJ's kids
-Fully open world game, way more ammo, weapons, and land to travel
-Factions will be international, show final effort to remove infected

Everything you said was pretty much how I thought part 3 would play out. Remake of the first game is apparently coming before part 3. I'm interested to see how they approach that.

I am 💯 with you that I want Ellie to have a "happy ending." But, I don't think The Last Of Us and happy endings can occupy the same space.
happy ending be a cure for all and abby sacrificed herself for Ellie to be alive from infected and after years the world is normal and Ellie is an elderly remembering before her death.

An interesting idea. I’d certainly take it. I do however have a theory of my own where The Last of Us Part III may go:
Abby and Lev have rejoined the Fireflies and they have grown in numbers over the years. Some of the Fireflies get wind of Ellie’s existence and that Abby knows where she may be located. They want Abby to help track her down but she refuses as she doesn’t want to reopen that door of pain and hatred. So the Fireflies force her to help them track her down.
The player will control Lev who learns of what is going on and decides to track the Fireflies down and save Abby. Lev also wants to track down Ellie and warn her as he believes it’s the right thing to do but Abby is reluctant to.
Ellie has gone into isolation and cut off contact with everyone as she can’t bear the pain of losing anyone she loves anymore.

This is perfect!! Finally a part 3 theory that makes any sense. People saying Ellie is going to sacrifice herself for a cure would make such a dry, repetitive story, not to mention a vaccine would just cause more violence and conflict between groups. We more theories like this!

@@TheStarkz I agree that repetitive isn't the right word. But it would be quite a predictable and I think boring story. Although I trust Naughty Dog that they will come up with something amazing again, even if they go in that direction.

Even back then, it was mentioned how hard it'd be to make a fully working vaccine without the time, experts and resources needed for thousands and thousands of batches to go through screenings and evaluations in the preclinical phase, let alone later stages of development in the human clinical phases and mass production, eventually.
I think this is an interesting setup from a worldbuilding point of view, but not from a character point of view (and the latter is what TLOU games are about). The first game was about an indifferent monster who learns to be a father again, and was willing to sacrifice the whole world for that. The second game was about grief, the search for revenge and the repercussions that come with it. What exactly is the character development setup for both Ellie and Abby here? Just getting along and then save the world?

I already heard week ago Neil Druckman has already came up with a story planned for part 3 but he is said it will be later on so it's not in development yet but it's a plan and It's likely going to be in like another seven years cause part 2 took them seven years to make and plus there's going to be a TV series and he has other projects planed. That would be a a really good theary tough.
we need part 3 now!!!! but something that could tide us over is a DLC in part 2 that gives you more ammo and more infected to kill in the various areas of part 2 like Santa Barbara or Seattle

I want Ellie's story to wrap up, but I would definitely be interested in a soft reboot down the road in a different part of the world and how they were affected by the cordyceps fungus. Maybe a prequel game starring Bill would be kinda cool too.

There’s been some good theories about Ellie being the cure again. But the whole point of 2 was Ellie finding out that her life does have a purpose outside of the cure like Joel was trying to tell her. Through Dina, JJ and Jesse. People care about her and she matters to people besides having a cure. And pretty much the same lol, what made me stop hating the game and accept the story was there has to be a part 3 that brings Ellie and Abby full circle again.
I don’t really care how naughty dog will pull this up, because they will hopefully stick to their own plans, as they did with tlou2, which was way different as I expected (but perfect). I really think they have a good plan, to make part 3 perfect like 1 and 2

Something I forgot to mention is how Ellie only cares about truth moving forward. Joel tells ellie he'd do it all again, I can imagine Ellie telling Dina the same thing, but instead with Dina hating her for going out to fight again, but Ellie decides its worth it to make the world better for JJ and others to have more than survival to look forward to. also holy fuck theory videos are annoying to make idk if any of this shit made sense

You forgot the most important part! In the final chapter, the fireflies are in an fight with factions that want to maintain their own control, and the other factions are winning. Just when it sends all hope is lost, old man Nathan Drake comes out of nowhere and blows everyone to kingdom come!

Ellie and Abby have to go meet Abby's mother because she has a lead for them. While speaking with her Ellie looks up to see an all to familiar picture of a little girl holding a soccer ball. Abby's mom notices that the picture has caught Ellie's attention and tells her that's the only picture she has of her dad and he thought she died when the Outbreak started. By this time Ellie has done figured it out but Abby is still clueless. The door opens and Tommy tells Ellie and Abby it's time to go and Abby's mom looks at him and says "Uncle Tommy"

Pt 3 will begin with Abby and Lev finding the fireflies who are in contact with a firefly cell from South America who has the oriiginal Patient 0 who is infected and contagious but not turned or growing fungus from their body. One of the doctors working their finds out that by combining both Ellie’s and patient 0’s dna a cure can be made but only if they are alive. This will take us to back to pt 1 where Joel saving Ellie from the surgery actually saved the worlds only hope for a cure.
When you walk away from the video at the end made me laugh.
I like the idea of factions mp expanding the lore of tlou world. Maybe instead of managing your clan in mp you actually manage a base go on supply runs and the base can act as a social hub in a way where you can access dlc, team up for missions, or even explore a small wilderness section that surrounds your base and patrol it like tlou 2 did in the opening mission with dina and ellie. Maybe im asking too much but its cool to think about.

I really think they will bring Joel back in some way with Ellie, because now after Part 2 they realize how bad of an idea it was to kill Joel, but I guess we'll see in about 1-4 years

I think that its pretty known to us that Ellie is immuned because her mom got bit while she was pregnant. The next one may be about them recreating(farming) the reaction to create a serum.
that’s not why she’s immune. If you listen to the surgeons in tlou2 flashbacks you hear that the fungus that she received when she got bitten with Riley, is a mutated strain which stopped growing into the limbic regions of Ellie’s brain (which is where you get your typical zombie-like transformation). So since she has already been ‘infected’ with the fungus, she can’t be infected again.
Tldr, it’s Ellie’s fungus which is special, not her.
I think the fireflies will become antagonists, and Abby will switch and Ellie will find a purpose she cares about more than being the cure and won’t want to be

Also, much as I'd love to see a fully open world game, I don't think it'd work. There are just so many narrative compromises you have to make when going to a fully open world that I think would ultimately detract from the main story. But heck, I guess if anyone can pull it off it'd be Naughty Dog.

Tlou is not about happy endings and it shouldnt be either, thats one of the reason its special. Part 1 and part 2 were about the human condition. Both did not focus on world building as much as they do character building. Thats why many people complained about part 2 not expanding on the fireflies more among other stories people wanted, but thats because the world was still living through peoples actions specifically joels actions for this story.
Very interesting take and I agree with the approach of gradually creating elaborate safe zones through- out the country made up of different factions coming together. However, I do think that once those safe zones created and the different factions are able to co-exist, producing a vaccine should be attempted, especially if one can be made without sacrificing Ellie or anybody else.

I feel like open world could work to a point. Being able to find hidden locations just like 1 and 2 is a must in my opinion the world around ellie is what makes the game i think it would be great if we had the ability to use the world to out advantage, for example maybe there's a pipe sticking out of the wall and there's a clicker on u. Or being stealth under water if you swim up to an enemy you could possibly drown them. An open world could make or break the game in dayz gone i hated clearing out the bases. I had have more ideas for this game just excited to see where they go with the story this time Hopefully we get to play as jj
Question: Why are the Fireflies regrouping? Could it be that they have found another way to develop a cure? So they may need the team again to see it through? Does this mean Ellie gets the option of giving her life for the cure? Or is there another way that does not take Ellies life? Hmmm... more questions than answers. Thanks for your content!

Someone will know how to continue the medical research from the doctors notes in the hospital. Abbys father didnt just make it up in his head he would have had some way to store those files. Someone will know how to make a cure and perhaps keep Ellie alive. Perhaps Abby will have something to do with that and will have the choice. what if Ellie passes her genes onto someone else, surely they didnt just rely on one dude to save the world right?

okay i’m late but my theory for part 3 is that it’ll still deal with something along the lines of the grieving process. like how part 1 is about the later stages of loss (anger, depression, and acceptance) part 2 is about the early stages (denial, anger, bargaining). part 3 i feel like would be in the acceptance stage and may be not even about grief (since there will definitely be a time skip).
both games have also dealt with parent-child relationships and this makes me think that the torch will be passed down to lev or jj. the first game is about love, the second game is about love (even though many say it’s about hate. after all there’s a thin line between the two), and the third game will also have to be about love. the third game will most definitely be a bit more hopeful and i really want to see ellie happy in the end.

yeah I really liked the theory.
I like this idea a lot I hope they do what metal gear solid did with a homebase possible jackson or even other locations that you will change to. But rather than a giant open world I want large areas with lots to do like that first area in seattle. I really like the horde clearing idea last of us 2 gave us trip mines and they constantly show traps imagine trapping a whole town to then anger a horde during there migrations and then sitting there with other survivors killing many zombies. Gaming is at the point where this game is possible and this would be amazing idea and the ultimate ending to one of the best and most in depth zombie stories.
Great video but imo an open world game is a bad idea. With both games I love the tight linear gameplay but having small open world sections like at the start of Ellie’s Seattle Day 1 would be cool

If they would make a part 3 of the last of us this show is one of the last wolves soldier's name Brook and she's running from battle and os she say what happened trying to escape from the island attacks And on her journey she runs into a lot dangers on the road and killer people and brook finds Abbey lav and os Ellie being friends and trying to forget about the wolf wars on the island and os other fights
After I played the first game, it was the best game I ever played and i believed it didn't need a sequel. Then they made part 2, and they fucked everything up with the characters everyone loved. So now we actually need a part 3 to fix this mess Naughty Dog created.
After playing Part 2 i remember my eyes were all watery and i felt depressed by what i just played. I think i hated it but i wasnt sure. The game was as high production value as you could have ever wished for. Great graphics, great animations, great gameplay, great character models, great voice acting, great audio and music, amazing level of detail, everything was the highest quality except for the story. The story is what messed everything up. The biggest problem in the story is that the characters they made you love in the first game all either got their entire lives ruined, or were killed. And then they make you play half the game as a character they make you hate. I will never understand that choice. That made me hate playing the game. The game was just depressing.

This is a great idea on how the series should end. This shows that you really understand the first two games and I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of your predictions came true.
I want Part 3 to end with the world restored and Ellie, having completed astronaut training from a re-established NASA, being rocketed into space or to the moon. It would be a fantastic payoff from the B-Day flashback from Part 2. I also want Ellie and Abby to become friends. As much as I love Abby (as evidenced by my avatar) I could also see Abby giving her life to protect Ellie in one the missions Celly mentions could happen. I am 💯 with you on the idea of most people uniting for a common cause, a cure or establishing as you mentioned connected safe zones. There are so many possibilities of where ND could go with a Part 3. One idea I have had is a cure is possible, but not solely from Ellie. A cure needs Ellie and 1 or 2 other things for it to be complete. Part 3 could incorporate all the things mentioned as the game becomes a quest to find/obtain the missing cure pieces. Sadly though, it'll probably be another 7-8 years minimum (or longer) before we can even sniff a Part 3.
I like the idea of reconnecting America and unite the independent communities, however I think it shouldn't be about Abby.
Ellie still needs to be in it as she is the common thread in the trilogy and the one with the immunity, but I think it should be Lev as the one who comes to Jackson, and then the end of Abby's story being revealed via flashbacks.
Maybe 5-10yrs after the events of Part 2 where Ellie is now an older woman.
More babies will eventually be born with immunity. I don't think humans should be the ones developing the vaccine, and immunity should be part of the evolution of life.
So the common theme will be hope and redemption.

Personally, I don’t think the open world gameplay loop would make any sense for the narrative driven world of the Last of Us. Even in the small open world bits of Part 2, there was so much world building and contextual dialogue. It would be near impossible to do that for an entire open world, plus you have to factor in the necessary “side missions” that would simply take away from the impact of the main story.
I do appreciate an outside the box theory though.

I've seen multiple theories about what Last of Us part 3 and this is by far the most convincing. On a side note all these videos agree Abby and Ellie will put aside the differences to fight a common enemy.

If naughty dog was to do an open world game, it should be with a NEW iP a because it would be weird af to have two games of a trilogy be "not open world" and then out of nowhere have the third game be an open world. Tommy and Ellie and Dina and Abby and Lev will not get to be a part of any community, especially Jackson where they are already known, because they have killed so many people, there are survivors who will be actively hunting them which makes them too much of a liability to be part of a community, however this could cause them all to form an alliance.
That makes sense that they wouldn't really be in a community because of the fact that theyre basically considered a threat and are probably being hunted.

They will not become friends or business partners it just cant happen Ellie has ptsd of what ABBY did to Ellie and when she gets triggered she will take it on abby so it is just impossible and the last of us isn't meant for open world its meant fro story and how the directors made it

Hmm nice theory, but I feel the open world going to different sections taking out infected would dive away from what the series is mainly about. I personally would like to see a time jump, maybe 2-3 (max 5 year) Ellie is still trying to find purpose, Abby and lev are soldiers somewhere, and maybe by this point they’ve found other immune individuals but they’re a group of trained combat elitist with a superiority complex who’s plan is to infect as much as the world as possible until there is nothing left and Abby and Ellie ( unbeknownst to eachother) meet up on the same mission.

I see what you are trying to do but this isn't what the last of us is about. While I will admit it sounds like a good idea to turn it into an open world but the problem with that is the last of us is about one persons personal growth. The horrors they face the trials they have to go through and finding out what they are willing to lose. Linear stories are the best way to tell these stories because they always have the feeling that time is of the essence. While open world games don't exactly have that. In an open world game instead of doing the main quest you can always just fuck off and do side quests which really takes a lot of weight from the story.
Very true, yet the way he says this is most likey just the shell towards the story he is willing to see, as the same as me. In my opinion I don't really like the open world idea but the other things he has said I think would be a very good idea.
So not like 100% correct obviously, we are all only speculating, but I think it's heavily implied the 3rd game will be a prequel to both of a sort, but telling Ellie's mother's story. Some rumors are getting passed around that Druckman teased this, because each game is so personal on these characters like the first game being Joel's story and the second being Ellie's. Since I think she was a dedicated firefly working with Marlene this could be interesting. Although I think it might go in this direction, I personally would like to wrap up Ellie's story.

I like your theory in the beginning, but seriously doubt that Ellie would ever connect with Abby again. Abby is very dominate and a control freak. I agree with you when you mentioned the vaccine, it doesn't really matter if there is one. During what seems to be an end of times many factions will be out for power and control. I do like your opinion for the end of this video and I hope the 3rd one will come sooner than later, because I'm an old guy and like to play it before I drop dead.
