Calling The Last of Us a series is a bit of a stretch with the second game still waiting for launch. Either way your still right the sequel going to be a disappointment. Clearly the original game was written more as a one and done game with great story rather than every expanding franchise that it's getting forced into.
Exactly. I'm amazed at the people trying to claim that volunteering their real names without a second thought was "in character." Would it have killed the writers for Abby just to know what Joel looks like from the hospital's security camera or something?

I just recently found some people anonymously breaking the embargo conditions online. The leaks were 100% true. So yeah those comparisons work perfectly. Joel is getting the Luke Skywalker treatment, Ellie actually is like Daenerys in the dumbest way possible, the game absolutely revels in "subversion" and just dismantling everything it had set-up so far, it revels in the hope of pissing off its own fans, and it does it all whilst pretending to be deep. What's so stupid is the game even treats itself that way. The story ends with a giant "everything you did was for nothing" and I don't mean in like a deep, reflective way (I guess kind of like the way the first game ended), but rather in a nihilistic "we want you to piss away your time because we're so artsy" way. Oh and let's not forget all the really shallow, shoehorned political agenda-peddling that's in this game too.
@@TheLastWanderingBard That's why there's so much confusion going around online. The gameplay looks amazing: the graphics, the sounds, the combat mechanics and how *violently* brutal it supposedly is, the facial animations both in cutscenes and when you kill people, the environmental designs, the sense of tension out in the world during exploration, the enemies. But that story. How can you create one of the arguably best-looking games on the PS4 but do THAT to the story? Why did Neil Druckmann have to make Anita Sarkeesian his role model? I mean, even the part in the leaks about Dina being pregnant was true, but Dina calls the kid Ellie's kid when the actual father (Jessie) literally sacrificed himself to save them. Tf even is this game??
"It's like the new trilogy." So it takes established characters and changes their established personality into something shallow and insulting, it is insulting to long time fans, characters make stupid decisions, real life political themes that are condescending pushed down our throats, and the game tries to hard to have plot twists and shocking moments. "And GoT season 8." Oh, so the game leads you in a cirtian direction and completely throws in a twist or suprise at the very end that will make people mad. Revenge stories can be done really well if done right, New Vegas when you’re shot in the head, robbed and left for dead just trying to do your job it makes you want to find that punk ass bitch that shot you with a 9mm. When I first got to the casino to confront Benny I had my big guns ready, all saved up, grenades and flamethrower a blazing in my black combat armor I melted everyone in the casino including that prick. It was incredibly satisfying and I’ll never forget it, denying the player that revenge is not the point of a game, it may make you think more but your certainly not going to be as satisfied as letting emotion take over and dealing with the consequences of your choices.
@@reggiewatts7728 I didn't feel the same way with Fallout new Vegas. I didn't really care about revenge. Which is weird because I usually RP, although maybe that's partly why. And because I didn't mainline the story and did a lot of side stuff. That's the problem with Bethesda games. They have a story that is supposed to be urgent yet you can get lost for a hundred hours doing side stuff. Still though Fallout New Vegas was amazing and had amazing writing.
Not true at all.. I can list a dozen Korean movies that are totally about vengeance and are just sensational, starting from Park Chan Wook's. Apart from the fact that the Apocalypse, arguably the most intriguing part of the bible, is ultimately a revenge story. It all depends on how you structure your story (I still did not play the game so I am not sure in this case).
...did you not experience Joel's arc? His hospitality is part of his growth, throughout the course of the first game he grows to be more selfless and regains his humanity through his developing bond with Ellie and by the end of it he's a much more vulnerable and human character. If he didn't have that bond with Ellie, if he stayed the same person he was in the beginning of Part 1, if he didn't open himself back up to the world and became a more empathetic person, he would not have trusted Abby for sure. But, that's only if he would've gone through the effort of saving Ellie, and if he were the same unempathetic and grizzled old man he was in the beginning, he would not have gone through with emptying that hospital for her sake.

Um, what companies allow reviewers to spoil the second half of their game? This is typical of reviews. If it worries you that much wait for Skill Ups post-release video in a week.
To anyone wondering how true the leaks were?? Well, just look below... Confirmed by multiple people who have broken their NDAS: Joel dies 2 hours in, by suddenly going from badass survivor to emo moron (VERY new Star Wars treatment of Luke) just to set up the opportunity for Abby to Joel in One him with a golf club. Abby eventually beats Ellie and her girlfriend almost to death (after you're forced to play Joel's killer for a good 1/4th to 1/3rd of the damn game) but leaves them alive to suffer. Months later Ellie tracks her down (because Druckman wants to beat you over the head worse than Joel was with 'hur-dur revenge be bad'!) And they fight, Ellie wins but Abby bites a few of her fingers off. Ellie is stopped from killing her by a vision of Joel playing guitar so she spares Abby. Then goes home and tries to play the guitar but can't because her fingers are gone. THAT is the story they're giving 10/10 for and the one that was apparently worth ruining Joel and Ellie for all of us who actually liked them in the 1st one. But I guess it's fine if you leave your brain at the door like you would for a cheap horror flick.
Read Dead mocks the idea of revenge and through the horrible, inevitable outcome, it shows that there is never any winning and there is no one who can grow from it. The Last of Us 2 seems to encourage it so that it can develop other characters upon the arrival of the revenge’s climax. It’s pathetic really.
And still, not the real problem. It the writing had been solid, and if it had been true to the characters, it doesn't matter how dark it got, it would never have been hated so much.
lol. that's what made it so great about the story in the first one. Joel's affection for ellie as his daughter and everyone talks about ellie being special but she wasn't special because she was immune. she was special because someone truly cared for her to the point of dooming the only chance to give humanity a chance for a cure. a happy bittersweet ending. this sequel was unneeded to an otherwise good game.
The idea of synthesising a cure from Ellie is nonsense. There is no way to mass produce a vaccine in the last of us. There are no working factories. There is no industry anymore. It would have never worked. Not only that how are they supposed to distribute it across the country? Not only would it not have worked Ellie would have died also. But at this point Joel probably should have let her die for nothing anyway. I’d also like to note the vaccine is more than likely useless for the majority of people who have been infected for a long time and fully transformed.
@@axelstone3131 It would take a very long time to distribute the cure, like decades before things got close to normal, but they would have saved a portion of the world, yeah.
I can't stand this recent trend of taking beloved stories and either making us feel bad for loving them, or twisting them so badly that we can't recognize what we loved in the first place. It's such a cheap trick that story tellers use when they don't have anything unique to say; they only know how to react to something great that came before it.
Yeah, this game might be like reading a grimdark book. ESPECIALLY Joe Abercrombie's fantasy books, specifically Best Served Cold for those book nerds out there. Loved and enjoyed it, but by the end of it it kind of hurts to read because of what the characters are going through.
"This is a petty revenge plot full of shitty unlikable people and where most of the main characters could be swapped out for any other and it wouldn't make a difference" Well... That's brutal
The worst thing about this game for me is how desparate the developers seemed to get an emotional reaction for the sake of it. Without spoiling the story, there's a couple of moments where the story is trying to twist an emotional dagger into you to make you feel sad or guilty for what's happened, but it's so unnecessary that it took me out of the experience and made me angry that the developers went to such lengths to try and make me feel depressed at the end of the experience.
@@PixelPioneer23-q5p I'll give you a couple of examples, one for forcing positive emotion, and one for negative. The part with Abby's dad trying to rescue the animal, such an obvious forced ploy to make you try to see what a good guy he is, and what a good girl Abby is. Second, when Ellie kills the pregnant girl, that was to force the feeling of what a terrible thing Ellie has done, unforgivable. This game is heavy handed, and distasteful, there is no nuance. Many will say it's provocative and daring, yet I say that is such an easy thing to do. Think of the most shocking scenario, and put into an entertainment medium.
@@iwantgoals1566 can you show me a media publisher that gave early access to their movie, tv show or game for review purposes that didn't give a story spoiler embargo?
My biggest issue with the game was how halfway into the game you suddenly start playing as Abby. I immediately understood what the game was trying to do, which was subsequently confirmed by further research. Neil Druckmann wanted the player to empathize with Abby so that the weight of your actions as Ellie came heavily after everything you had to do to go after this girl. Unfortunately, I hated it. Forming a bond with Abby at that point was nigh impossible after all that's happened in the first game with Joel and Ellie and the way Abby brutally murdered him for it. I just couldn't give two shits about her or her friends at that point and wanted them all to die so that the story reached its conclusion. IF, however, Neil Druckmann was a bit more clever about it; if he had made us play as Abby right from the start, concealing the fact that the person we are after for revenge is our loved and beloved Joel all the while we are playing as her, helping her succeed in her quest, only to reveal the shocking truth and the bloody murder of Joel at her hands at the end, AND THEN started playing as Ellie halfway through the game would have made this a dramatically better story. 1- That is one hell of a twist and a massive shock for the audience. 2- It would actually have achieved Neil's aim of bonding us with Abby so that our revenge run as Ellie felt heavier and more impactful. It's not a bad game or a story per se, but I just felt disappointed with the way everything went down somehow. Can't help but feel the above solution would have made this a dramatically better narrative.
Fair and respectful point. But I think that would have given the game a specific angle adjacent to the one we do get. That angle is partly what you get with Ellie, and already got as Joel in the first game. You start with sympathy, etc. Knowing who Abby is theoretically shouldn't make a difference in the world because all the survivors have descended into chaos as people and as a society. Abby is really no different than Joel. Joel killing Abby's dad makes him the villain to Abby. And I think the point is to realize Abby's humanity as you play her. It goes on for a long time because it is something they anticipated would take a long time to come to grips with. And through that play you also see how Ellie's killing of Abby's clan just compounds her pain and rage. In the end I dont love the character of Abby like I do Ellie and Joel. But I sure learned to sympathize and empathize with her. But I also can see why that would be a hard thing to do for others. If you haven't already, check out Dunkeys review. It's actually a good counterpoint to this one.
@@raggarex I forgot that I'm on the internet for a second, reading what turned out to be a fair and reasoned counterpoint to my perspective, rather than flaming and petty insults. Thanks for that! :)
@@ChristianNelsonn Well, I felt the same about your comment. I hope what I said made sense. The vitriolic reaction so many have had to a game that tries to get players to experience empathy in uncomfortable ways makes it a good example of how important stories like this are in helping people see a better way to live life. But video games also have the potential to transcend what novels and films can do by letting the player become the character or characters, themselves. Being able to actually control the character just brings the experience home in such a unique way. Cheers!
Never thought about this, but I actually agree with you that that might have been the better option. Abby and her friends needed time to sit in the minds of gamers, and this way would have provided it. Neil underestimated the bond players had with Joel from the first game. Another casualty of this trend among writers who believe that "shock value" is good storytelling and writing. It killed The Last Jedi and destroyed Game of Thrones's final seasons. Randomly changing the trajectory of your story and characters is not good practice! It is not profound, and is not "natural" in a story. When making a product that basis itself on narrative, you need to follow the concepts of storytelling. "Shock value" is not a refined tool/concept in writing, it is a trash tactic no different than the jump scare in horror flicks--it is fun, sure, but that's all. Naughty Dog based their entire narrative on trashy Shock Value and it resulted in this embarrassing sequel.
Honestly, I'd like to see this re-reviewed. Not the actual review itself though, I think reviewing this again when you're able to talk about spoilers would make your point a lot more clear. It's plain to see that you're restricted too heavily in terms of what you can and can't say, it'd be fascinating to see the real examples rather than this corporate peep show you're forced to endure.
Ralph has said on Twitter that he decided not to do a spoiler review of TLOU II because he doesn't like the overall reaction and discussion surrounding this video.
@@weaverquest The discussion that he's the only right person and now he's in the firing line he's scared and wants to back off? Why did he review it in the first place then?
@@deetsitmeisterjd Yeah the reasoning he gave for not doing a spoiler review doesn't make much sense ti me but I think the real reason is either: -He strongly dislikes the game and doesn't want to further spend time or work on it, or -After seeing the the glowing reviews from the vast majority, he doesn't want to further rag on a game that most people might enjoy.
Same. I was completely exhausted by the game by the 12-14 hour mark. I didn’t want to play anymore. It was a brutal additional 14 hours to play through. It made me hate the game so much.
This is normal for review copies prior to the release of the game though albeit its probably more strict in this case considering all the crap that went down with the leaks. However it doesn't even really save the damage that was already done lol

Loved the gameplay of part 2. Fucking HATED the story. For about the last 10 hours or so I was just miserable playing it, fucking hated playing as Abby, and honestly at one point Ellie was starting to become unenjoyable as well. I loved the gameplay but holy shit the story got to the point where I just wanted to turn it off, because I honestly feel with how Druckmann treated these characters and story that everybody loved so much, he didn’t earn my time with this game. He sacrificed character and emotion in genuinely good and down to earth story telling, for pretentious attempts at teaching some sort of half baked and unearned lessons to the player for just wanting to play the game and see these characters treated well. It was just depressing. By the time the Santa Barbara section hit, I was so irritated and just annoyed with this terrible fucking story that I just speed ran it. By the last 10 hours of the game, I just didn’t care anymore. With the first game, I cared about these characters the whole way through, and I cared for the relationship and retribution that they felt between each other. How could they just decide to throw that away, throw everything away, and just genuinely carelessly handle them. I played part 2 with a couple of friends and we genuinely had to pass the controller to even be able to enjoy it. It was a fun game when I was playing it with them, because we couldn’t take it seriously, I think because we all refused to since we all loved the first game and started to hate part 2. But when the credits rolled, all three of us just sat in silence for a couple of minutes, saddened, distraught, confused, frustrated, and disappointed. Then we all shared our thoughts, and for every positive we had, there were about 3 or 4 negatives.

Im actually surprised by polygon's review.. they just fucked up part 1 too. They compared joel and ellie and mentioned that both of them very blind for revenge?? Really?? I mean ellie seems to be blind for revenge but When did joel wanted a revenge, dude was just surviving... their entire problem with the game was murders?? It was the worst review ever for a videogame
@@milorexhar6621 i think polygon was making the point that ellie doesn't grow up or learn anything as the story progresses in unison to the way the gameplay is presented. naughty dog presents a world ridden with violence and pain, and they really did a good job with it. with the way that skillup, polygon and tlou2's gameplay pitch put it, the player *will* feel bad for murdering people in this game, but no matter how bad you feel, ellie never stops as she keeps going. this is reminiscent of before-to-early 2010s games, where players are disappointed at the protagonists' choices because they don't sympathize with it. both reviews feel disappointed at this writing choice as it's outdated. i'm playing far cry 3 and 4 so they are the only examples i could come up with right now, but they are games about people giving in to the violence around them similar to tlou2, right. fc3's protagonist grew disgusted at himself at the end because of his murderings, and you can choose the pacifist options if you feel bad about what you've done. i might be comparing oranges to lemons, but these two make you feel bad, but you'd feel better because the characters feel the same way you do and even grow away from it. in tlou2, despite many attempts at telling the players "violence is bad", they never seem to change ellie's perceptions as she keeps diving deeper into the violence pit, and the players forced to go along with her decisions even if you disagree with them, which ends up making the players feel more disconnected from what they are controlling. the reason polygon drew a connection to the first game is, i think, because at the very end, joel made a single selfish and irreversible decision and it was very emotionally gripping. the players might have felt conflicted, and might have felt distanced from the players who they've controlled throughout the game, and most of all they might be mad because they were forced to make such a horrible decision. it was disappointing that these nuances never made it into the second game, and ellie never learned to be any better than joel. tldr; buy demon souls remake on the ps5 instead
Not “a lot” but all of it. The story itself was the identity of last of us. Otherwise the gameplay and environment could’ve been found in any other narrative triple A game
@@angel_lopez2446 I know Joel gets his head caved in with a golf club and you are then forced to play as his killer. I never really watched the show closely but I did see the first couple seasons and I stopped right around the time when that shit went liberal. I'm not sure how movie and game writers think its realistic for a highly rough and dangerous environment like the one in GoT or TLOU would facilitate strong and empowered women taking center stage. Not to sound like an absolute sexist but I know for a fact that any woman that would attempt this would get absolutely curb stomped and worse.. See that's really corny. The story never was that special or original . It's just now they didn't even try with it's sequel that didn't need to be made, except the first one was too successful not to make another one. So Naught Dog just threw in some empowered SJW agenda story and slapped it together with some gameplay and cashed in the checks. Pretty much just like every Hollywood Movie sequel.
I can't even fathom that opinion. This is game is a masterpiece in every aspect. The story was gripping and uncomfortable, the environments were gorgeous, detailed and allowed for all sorts of movement, the gameplay was brutal, challenging and rewarding. I've never been more sad for a game to end. And I've never been more engaged and on the edge of my seat, a stunning achievement all around.
That's an interesting way of putting it, considering it implies the sequel trilogy is a cohesive whole with literally any sort of consistency across all three movies besides a few names and crew members. Abrams' and Johnson's directing styles go together like oil and water. Or is that the joke?
@@LieutenantAlaki They're saying this: just like the Star Wars trilogy went out of it's way to ruin the characters and legacy of the original, so does this game do that to part 1. Simple enough?
'I was so bored of this game that were I not reviewing it there is no way I would have seen it through to its conclusion, especially with a story as bad as this.' Brutal.
Matt Dog Hmmm I can agree with on bored. If the game isn’t stimulating your interest or generating any meaningful emotions then it’s definitely not a good experience. But sadness is debatable imo. A few games that I can think of the genuinely made me sad are Brothers a tale of two sons, Xenosaga Ep3, and papers please. I don’t think it’s the type of emotion you really seek when you look for new games. But it can happen as part of the wider game experience and it can be very meaningful.
I loved the "open world" section the most too, and wonder if that was something they considered then abandoned for design, but because so much had been done on that level they put it in the game. Hence, why it's the only "open world" section that feels so different from the rest of the game and why it happens so early then *never* again.
Even with all the negatives he said a ton of positives. I see the main problem is what happens in the story in his opinion. Honestly, I’m super hyped to play this game.
So TLOU 2 is comparable to the SW new trilogy huh. A trilogy where they mass murdered old casts while making ways for new/younger characters to carry the torch? So Joel confirmed D.E.A.D

@@discogypsyfish9577 Its not fanfiction though. A lot of the roles that Bruce Straley and Neil Druckman had overlapped they said it themselves in a 2013 Empire Review and further emphasized it in their 2014 reddit ama. Plus there are a lot more players that come to mind when it comes to the story and characters, for example in the directors commentary Neil himself believed Joel to be a character that didn't care at all about Tess. Troy Baker took a different approach and made Joel care about Tess, but not really show it and thats what stuck. Another thing Neil Druckman planned for the first game was to have Tess go hunting Joel cross country because Joel betrayed her in some way. This idea was scrapped by the current Naught Dog president Evan Wells and a plethora of other people on the time. The point I'm getting at is Neil was not the sole writer of the first game, saying he was is the fan fiction.

There was a review that literally ONLY mentions the story as "Ellie's story." Joel was never in the picture, not even interferring in any way. So yeah... He won't be in the game for much. And based on what Skill Up said in his review, it seems the game will have a deconstruction of his character rather than an improvement.
In case you're interested, yeah there have already been people reporting that it's true. All the stuff with Joel's death and then playing as Abby for about 10-12 hours of the 25 hour game has been confirmed. Which means they were totally hiding Abby during all the marketing material.
No shit, it's meant to be a surprise after all. Honestly, I'm a little bummed about the leak (even though I blame myself for reading about the spoilers), because it robs fans of a true, blind reaction to what occurs. We'll never get the initial shock of what that death should've been, and the impact it may have had on us by actually EXPERIENCING it, instead of just watching/reading about it, with little to no context of everything that leads to it.

The museum flashback mission was the best part for me. It reminded me what made TLOU 1 so amazing which was the relationship/banter between Ellie and Joel and to take that away from the get go in this game was so dumb.

@@miller-joel Joels death could have been a part of the story. Maybe not in the first ~10 minutes tho. Give the whole Abby introduction with her dad before you kill him. The revenge story in itself is not bad, it could have been part of the game. The biggest problem the game has and why you either hate it or "love" it is the Abby part.
Hahahaha
A completely shallow "revenge is bad, you know" story.
Which kicks off around a character everyone hates getting revenge and then being the better off for it versus Ellie who is left with even less than what she started with.

If this pisses you off, make sure to spread the word and maybe a few more people will be spared wasting money on this garbage.

Damn, sounds like Joel should have let them go on with the surgery......
lol. that's what made it so great about the story in the first one.

*there're (the word "moments" is plural)

@@PixelPioneer23-q5p I'll give you a couple of examples, one for forcing positive emotion, and one for negative. The part with Abby's dad trying to rescue the animal, such an obvious forced ploy to make you try to see what a good guy he is, and what a good girl Abby is. Second, when Ellie kills the pregnant girl, that was to force the feeling of what a terrible thing Ellie has done, unforgivable. This game is heavy handed, and distasteful, there is no nuance. OBI-WAN! Youre our ONLY HOPE!
Almost as painful as Dragon Ball Super?
@Mike Rotch Sequal fans: If you're not with me, then you're a misogynist
Totally agree- playing Abby first and not knowing about her would have been a significant improvement!

Nice NV reference there. Too bad Chris Avellone wasn't involved in TLOU2. Would have been WAYYY better.
Fallout New Vegas is truly amazing
Star Wars 8: The Last Jedi got around 97% on Rotten Tomatoes when it was first released despite ruining characters that the fan base loved and destroying the story. So just because TLOU2 got bombarded with scores of “100”, it doesn’t mean that the story and characters of the franchise didn’t get ruined.
Yeah but the Naughty Dog fanboys in denial can't seem to accept this. It would literally crush their make-believe world. Much like TLJ though, I imagine once a few years have passed, more and more people will acknowledge how damaging it was, especially if Naughty Dog don't manage to mend their PR after this.
Been telling people this all day. Strange how all of a sudden mainstream reviewers are trustworthy.
YEP, the raging *hate-boner* episode 8 still gets is astonishingly ignorant.
Usagi1992 It’s not ignorant. The hate for Star Wars 8 is justified.
Yeah, except last jedi is actually the best made film since empire and the fans are for the most part adult-children who can't seem to take into account subtext, meaning and depth. They stuff popcorn in their mouths while waiting to be served the next lightsaber fight because they think that's all star wars is about.
Last jedi is a fucking hallmark and it treats every character with the utmost respect. It does new and interesting things and it has something to say about humanity, myth, legacy and failure and how these things bind humanity. But all people can do is cry about space fuel and claim Luke was ruined because they think he's infallible and should swing his lightsaber around in a dumb prequel-style lightsaber fight. Because, you know.. the man who literally tossed his lightsaber away to save his evil father from darkness should TOTALLY have a pointless lightsaber fight.
Fucking stupid.

I feel like Abby's story was the most contrived, and frankly, I couldn't care for anybody there.

I want dunkey's review xd
The story was everything in the first game , the harmony of the characters , if they really ruined it , then the game lost a lot of its identity.

@@iamperson7943 you’re saying a bunch of nothing. It’s obvious in all forms of entertainment influences poor in and suggests get raised by lots of hand working on it. But Neil was in charge. Y’all are just still upset that you didn’t get a happy or predictable story with Joel.
See guys? This is an honest review.
Something game journos don't know a thing about apperantly.
No this is an opinion, and people sell this as their opinion without even playing 5 minutes of the game, and thats whats the problem nowadays, people only display opinions others created for them, i disagree with almost anything hes criticizing! but thats my opinion, and you know why i can say that because i played the game from beginning to the end without watching any other reviews or opinions, i created my own opinion without beeing influenzed by other people! And for me its a masterpiece in every way, its the pinnacle of this generation!
@@KsNoz well its good for you that you're not upset about the story. Almost all the people didn't like the story at all. Even though they played it without and spoilers from the media.
Opinion?more like honest opinion
@PerrySport You nailed it right there!
@@KsNoz you literally dont have to play the game yourself because 90% of the game is cutscenes and "cInEmAtIc" gameplay that may as well be cutscenes. That's like saying just watching a movie isn't enough. You can get the entire experience from watching someone play it.
the lack of Joel in this review just confirms my worst fears about the game
Ya like golf?
Ellard Kurvin Joel in one
Joel is a straight up side character 😂
There was a review that literally ONLY mentions the story as "Ellie's story." Joel was never in the picture, not even interferring in any way. So yeah... He won't be in the game for much. And based on what Skill Up said in his review, it seems the game will have a deconstruction of his character rather than an improvement.
Omar Rivera Yeah it really feels like they’re Clubbing the point home doesn’t it
Can't talk about the game's entire second half? So the leaks were indeed true.
In case you're interested, yeah there have already been people reporting that it's true. All the stuff with Joel's death and then playing as Abby for about 10-12 hours of the 25 hour game has been confirmed. Which means they were totally hiding Abby during all the marketing material.
Mr. Joker everyone wants to be kojima, but no one is willing to put in kojima level effort or thought
@@TheLastWanderingBard and also how joel is barely in the game. I guess he dies early in the game
@@JakeJupiter The only shock I would get would be wasting 60 bucks on a lecture. I would have been pissed if I paid money to get preached too about non sense in the real world. I play video games to escape this non sense, not get pulled back into it.
The museum flashback mission was the best part for me. It reminded me what made TLOU 1 so amazing which was the relationship/banter between Ellie and Joel and to take that away from the get go in this game was so dumb.
Except...Joel had already been sadistically tortured and killed, so they didn't even let you enjoy the flashback. They gave you a taste of what you and everyone else wanted, but they had to poison that, too.
@@miller-joel what? Would you want a wholesome chungus 100 story where Ellie and Joel are just playing guitar and stuff? That would be awful. It's the apocalypse ffs.
@@hoodironyyy That's the only thing you can think of? How sad.
We wanted more of what we saw in the original story. We wanted that relationship to keep progressing.
It wasn't puppies and rainbows in the original, it didn't have to be puppies and rainbows in the second one.
But if it had to be 20+ hours of scenes like the visit to the museum, I would take that over the garbage we got, every time.
It is loaded with so many tropes to make it hard to publicly state you hate Abby. It makes this game feel like an abusive relationship where everything is perfect, you just "fell down the stairs". This clearly shows in the 10/10 reviews out there.
@@_aullik It could have been done in a million better ways. Even if you love Abby, and I can't imagine why, you'd have to be completely blind to the endless plot holes, pacing, and other problems with it.
