First off really appreciate the videos and have watched them all - For those playing at home there is actually 3 bolts to remove the screen - two at the top and the pivoting one at the bottom - I only mention this as when I did mine I watched your video over and over and could not understand what I did wrong as the screen was not coming off. Just some reassurance for others doing the same yes there is a 3rd bolt :)
Hiya mate and thanks for the message and support. I realised I fkud up on the vid by not showing the lower "pin" that keeps the display on. This was some time afterwards though. Good mention :) All the best and have a happy new year! Ric
Long time no see Rick! I'm glad you still giving us you precious time, well done! First thing I saw OEM mount fitted by yourself, I've ordered that, but never fitted due to lack of sat-nav itself, which I have to purchase first. But now I definitely want this Touratech kit and looks like some lucky soul will get my oem mount for free! Really good piece of kit and looks as nit as original one. Hope my one will be ready for spring and new season. Happy Xmas Rick! :)
Hiya Rafal thanks mate and good to hear from you again! Yeah sorry I’ve bought another item haha. But after all bikes are for continuous improvements haha… yes the Touratech item is much better but a lot more expensive in unfortunately. I too will be getting rid of my oem one as won’t need that again either! 😁 Good luck on the new bike order and the waiting 🤤 It’s something to look forward to ☝️ Keep safe and have a happy Christmas too (or as we are told to say these days “happy holidays” 🤝) Cheers Ric
Great video. I was watching it because I've installed the XT2 version on my '23 1290 SAR but the locking mount interferes with the windscreen mounting arms. It all works, but the windscreen support arms rub on the Touratech mount. I haven't ridden with it yet, but I think windscreen vibration will be transferred to the GPS which negates any advantage of the Touratech dash mount. It looks like the XT2 mount must be slightly wider than the XT.
Hi Rick. That's a Sherman tank mount. Looks good. I have on order a mount and key lock system from Phil Nichols at Moto Mate in the UK. It sits in the same position just above the main screen. A lot lighter weight so maybe not as theif proof. Cost for the mount aprox 90 pound and the lock system 60 pound. I haven't received it yet so cross the fingers.
HI Ric thanks for the great video i got my sat nav this week and was not looking forward to fitting it until i watched your video 5 times, you made it look a lot easier than i did, Keep them coming, Out across Dartmoor today to try it out💪
Hiya Steve thanks for the feedback mate. Great to hear you managed to get through and sort it all 👍. Easy enough when you have the time 🙂. Enjoy!! I'm working today.. lovely day for a good ride Cheers Ric
Might have a look at this next year as It looks a lot more secure than the oem, always give it a yank to make sure its on and is defo a pain having to carry when getting petrol. hope you and your family have a good Christmas. Bob..
Hey up Bob! yeh mate exactly the reason I changed to this. I mean I like the OEM and did the job. But eve for a quick run into the petrol station I used to have anxiety of a snatch and grab. Or the hassle of something else to carry along with my phone I also detached from the bike lol. And thanks for the well wishes too! Have great Christmas too and hope for a better 2022! Cheers Ric
Hi Andy! Ah yes TomTom. I sold my top of the range Rider 550 in order to buy this one instead. This is my first Garmin but have used Garmin before years ago. I have to say it was a very good surprise. In comparison the screen is much nicer and the the speed at which it changes to the touch is better and more responsive than my rider 500. Overall though they do pretty much the same thing to be honest so your not missing out. I just think the styling and look of the Garmin XT does really suit the 1290 TFT screen below. Very modern looking like a tablet. Thanks again for the thumbs up! Cheers Ric
Great video! I have the same kit in a drawer. I´m just waiting for the bike which will be here mid February. By then we will have somewhere between -15c and -20c outside in the garage so I´m not quite sure when kit will meet bike. I take comfort in watching your vids in the meantime ;)
Haha that's a tough one mate! wow... I feel for you! :) Am sure it will be worth the wait though! Just don't lose the kit in the house some where in the mean while (That is something I would do). Cheers Ric!!
Yeah mate! Although the lock is definitely too heavy to use with the oem mount. In addition to the weight of the actual SATNAV in my opinion. It will vibrate too much. 👍
Hello mate thanks for the comment! Yeah is a bit tight but manageable with the screen in the optimal position. You will need to adjust the screen to make it easier whenever you install or remove 👍 Cheers Ric
Always great to hear back from folks cheers again 👍. Appreciate your time taken to watch and reply. Give the tens of thousands of views my channel has only fraction say hello 👋 Good luck on doing your own fittings 👍 Cheers Ric
Hi Rick, First of all, thank you for all your great videos! They have helped me a lot, especially the one where you removed the DB killers 😉 I just received my Zumo XT GPS Locking mount and installed it the same way you did. However, when it's installed the mount doesn't open (spread) enough to remove or insert the GPS. The two posts that keep the screen in place are too close to the edges of the mount which prevents it from opening far enough. I can move the screen completely up, and then turn the mount a bit down and that will give just enough clearance to remove the GPS from the mount. This means however that I can never really tighten the mount, and over time it will come loose and I will have to remove the screen to tighten the nuts that attach it to the round bar. How did you overcome this problem? (PS. I'm using the standard screen)
Hi Alexander!! Thank you my friend for watching and sending a message. Apologies for the delay as I have started a new job and not back until late. Regarding your question. There is no alternative solution. I too have to make adjustments to install and remove the SATNAV from the locking mount. It is a tight squeeze as you too experience. The only thing is to make sure your bolts are tight and also if you want to be extra safe apply some blue threadlock liquid.. It will be solid and should not work loose. But yes I am the same. I would need to remove the screen if the situation arose where I needed to tighten the bolts. But so far even with my off road use my bolts are still solid and I never used threadlock. I think its something that isnt too much to worry about to be honest. Unless you keep manually tilting the SATNAV (which I do not) then it should just stay in place. Cheers Ric :)
Hi, great vids. Any chance you could do a run through of the KTM toolkit, noticed some items you are using that are not in the kit I received. Cheers, Bob
Hiya Bob! No worries will do a YT short for you when back home in a day or two 👍 not the first time I’ve heard of wrong tool kits given with new bikes if this is the case ! And thanks for the feedback and watching my stuff! 🙏 Cheers Ric
Hello mate ! Sorry for the delay as been away. Here’s a 1 min vid on the kit. Just showing what’s in the bag 👍 ruclips.net/video/muITeG_W9TA/видео.html
Weird , my Touratech zumo xt mount is a push button release yours is left/right one.I bought it yesterday it was in a cartboard not plastic packaging like yours. Also you forgot to install the 4 washers at the back plate.
Hiya! Thanks for watching. Just to clarify this mount is a Touratech locking mount. And you will probably find is looking the same on other likewise videos. I agree the zumo XT mount that comes with the GPS is a push button (button on top) mine is the same too. These side clamps are the lock unit from Touratech. Needs a key to remove it if you choose to lock it to the bike. As for the washers yep maybe I did as I can’t remember but does sound familiar. I think I was cussing myself later and then added them on 👍 Cheers Ric
@@RicardoYeep My mount is touratech also is printed to the front rubber tab from official touratech store. Also i dont speak about the zumo mount push button but the touratech one at the bottom the metal one , check the official touratech youtube video about this mount and you will see that is push button also (dont be confused about the zumo mount i dont talk about that ).First time i see left/right button on your video.
Here’s. A link for another clip that someone has uploaded regarding the zumo XT lock mount by Touratech. Exactly the same as mine. And I know a lot of people that have bought the kit and it’s identical to mine. Anyway as long as your happy with yours that’s all that matter 👍 ruclips.net/user/shortsEqb4q-MSdYs?feature=share
Hi Rick Like your vids! Planning to mount the Touratech on my SAS, too, but wonder if it is too close to the screen to lock and unlock with they key. Can you share your experience, pls? Johannes
Hia Johannes.. Thank you for the feedback mate. Much appreciated :) Cant go wrong with the Touratech kit. yes it is close however it just means that you will need to wind the screen either up or down to access the lock barrel. I have tried it with both SAR and SAS screen and I seem to manage albeit is a bit tricky if you have a bunch of keys... Definitey easier with a sole key to twist! Many thanks Ric
Hello Michael. On the S model it can be tricky but doable. You’ll have to have the screen on the lowest setting. And the tft tilted in its most forward position from memory. Is easier on a SAR though for sure. 👍
Bonjour mon ami !
Cela a semblé l'améliorer.
Do you have to remove the screen with the 4 bolts to use the key to unlock the Garmin from the mount ? Not sure i’d still want to leave it fixed to the bike when parked overnight when on tour
Hi Jon, You can still access the key to lock and unlock but will need to position the screen in order to do so. If the screen is at its lowest position then you cannot access the key. But if you raise the screen up then you can create more clearance. Also the GPS mount does move with the tilt position of the bike display. Again you may have to make sure the display is tilted forwards in its most forward position. I ride in this position already anyway. But tall riders may have the screen tilted towards the screen which may be a small nuisance if you regularly want to unlock the SATNAV No need to remove screen! :) I hope that was clear explain? Those with a SAR screen wont have this inconvenience to think about Thanks Ric 🙏
Hiya Paul! You spot on mate! Thats exactly what I thought too when I unpacked it. Even considered spraying it but decided against! But yeah Same thoughts!
Hey Ricardo. Again great vid mate, but i have 1 question. Can you use the key to open the lock now that is installed or you lost the access? Seems too narrow to pass the key to open the lock.
Hiya Jojien! Thanks for the comment and a very good point. You can still access the key to lock and unlock but will need to position the screen in order to do so. If the screen is at its lowest position then you cannot access the key. But if you raise the screen up then you can create more clearance. Also the GPS mount does move with the tilt position of the bike display. Again you may have to make sure the display is tilted forwards in its most forward position. I ride in this position already anyway. But tall riders may have the screen tilted towards the screen which may be a small nuisance if you regularly want to unlock the SATNAV Those with SAR screen wont have this issue I hope that was clear explain? Thanks Ric 🙏
Hello Ric, i had the same question, thank you for the answer, very clear ! Contrary to the zumolock, it seems the tourateck locking system is solid and secure. Thank you Ric for triste excellent vidéo, as always. Yannick
Hiya Yannick! Thanks for letting me know. And as always great to hear you found the little no frills vids useful! Yes the Touratech system is bomb proof! lol Cheers Ric
Hi Ric, a great video (as always). Made me think I should now consider a sat nav for my bike. One observation regarding the whole lockable bit, the round bar it is monuted to is only held on by a screw either end, if you undo those with a standard allen key you walk off with the lot! I saw you threadlocked yours but perhaps security torx screws would be a good idea as well? Just a thought. Have a great Christmas! Regards Mark
Hiya Mark thanks for for comment and also the info. Yes I agree the bolts are a weakness however this is not meant for you to walk away and go explore a town with it left. Or left overnight on your bike I think. I think it’s more to be a more secure mount with little to zero vibration and also zero risk of it popping off the “dodgey” Zumo mount which does look a little feeble. And for me the convenience of leaving it on the bike at fuel and lunch stops where I can leave it on the bike without risk of a person simply walking by snatching it and running off / or a traffic light snatch. I think that’s the main application 👍
Hi Rick, I’m planning to buy the same setup. Including the Garmin lock. Any advice or second thoughts after a few months of use by yourself? Thanks so much for the nice vids!
Hiya Pascal! great to hear from you mate. As for the Garmin lock and Touratech setup I have to say faultless in my opinion and experience in using in different conditions. This thing is bomb proof. Just one thing to bear in mind is that although it locks your unit in place. It will only prevent a quick snatch and grab if attempted (if that was one of your concerns). NEVER leave leave your unit on if you plan on abandoning the bike to walk around town. As the GPS and lock unit is attached to the cross member (rod) on the GPS mount. As you know this mount is only kept in place by a hex bolt either side which are easily removable in a few minutes. So for a coffee and petrol fill with the bike in view. its great as you can have one less thing to carry or remove. BUT remove it when you leave the bike alone. As for stability its a rock solid setup. The only thing to also point out is the fact that as the GPS mount itself. (Touratech) is mounted to the same plate as the TFT screen. Whenever or if you ever decided to tilt the display in another angle. the GPS mount moves with it and so will the GPS! It should not be materially much. However it something to mention. If you do have the time and access to a local powder coater. It maybe look a little better if the GPS mount was black. But that's a personal thing. You cant see much of it to be fair. And I am not sure you could even paint the lock unit as so many moving parts you would not want to seize up with painting. But I wish they did something to make it a little less stand out. If you have a SAR screen then much easier to take the GPS out the lock unit and put back. However for both SAS and SAR screens you will need to position the screen height with the adjusters to a suitable position each time you wish to open the lock unit. As being in the incorrect position the screen mounts will prevent the clamps from full opening. Again not an issue but something to remember.. As it did puzzle me for a few seconds (initial thought was WTF is going on here, until I sussed it out). Hope that helps! No regrets at all. And thank you for the great feedback. ! Ric
Hi Ricardo I have just received the Tuoratech support, but I cannot disassemble the instrumentation. I removed the screw on the left side, but on the right side I have no screws. Help !!
Hi Alex no problem don't worry is very easy once you know. There are only 3 bolts to remove altogether and one threaded bush/block of aluminium tubing. 1 bolt either side (total 2 bolts) at the top of the screen "mount" (the bit that the TFT tilts on). And one bolts on the lower part on the left side of the bike. Once you remove this one you will need to use a maybe a screw driver or long allen key to push the "threaded bush" out the otherside. For peace of mind make sure you know how this pops back in for when you come to install again. And also note the position of your TFT screen too (where it is tiled). Probably best start with the TFT tiled towards you at its max position. Then you know where you are. Once you have this off you casn then simple get to the 4 bolts on the back to attached the GPS brakcet! Good luck. Any issue let me know. Cheers Ric FB messag me - ill send photos in return (just search for ricardo yeep)
Hi mate! Sorry for late reply! You’ve probably sourced the info already but here it is anyway 🙏 Product code: 065-1397 Manufacturers code: 01-065-1397-0 Brand: Touratech
Hi Ric,I've had the Touratech locking mount for a while now,the standard Garmin mount just didn't give me confidence the XT wouldn't end up smashed to bits on the road. I originally used the KTM mount, but found it vibrated even with the bike idling and worse when riding(the Touratech mount is probably just too heavy for it),i bought a cheap aluminium mount off ebay for £25 which has been fine, but i do like the look of that Touratech mount,i assume its galvanised or its going to rust up. Cheers Ric.
Hiya Steve yeah mate I completely agree. The weight of the lock kit and the oem mount is definitely a no no. It really does need the solid bracket they the Touratech gps mount provides to the lock kit. It’s a nice bit of kit for sure. And hopefully it’s treated in some manner but will be applying ACF50 anyway just in case. I’d be surprised if Touratech haven’t treated it. It’s very exposed to the elements for sure. And rust would look horrendous there haha. Also fyi it’s not a lock and forget unit. It’s more to ensure a solid fix and also no risk of it popping out under bumpy terrain. It’s very secure. Also great for convenience at stops where you can see the bike and just fancy a break. And leave it on the bike. No kids running up pulling it off and running lol. But it is still removable with the two Allen bolts at each end of the rod!! Cheers Ric
@@RicardoYeep Hiya Ric,yes its a great bit of kit for making sure that sat-nav isn't going anywhere...after seeing your video I've ordered the Touratech mount, they didn't appear to do it when i first got the lock kit.Might give it a lick of mat black spray paint though.🙂 Cheers.
Hiya Steve! Yeah that mount is something else! can hang anything of it.. it wont shift lol... the galvanised look is growing on me now. Looks functional in a hardcore way haha
Hello Rick. Couple of questions, please. Firstly, does the screen get in the way of inserting the key into the lock on the top of the mount? Secondly, if that were to be the case (as I have experienced with the Wunderlich mount) can the Touratech cradle be mounted upside down so that key access is underneath (with more access space), rather than on top? Thanks for any advice you can offer.
Hello mate. The key access is pretty tight with the S screen for sure however it is made easier to access by tilting the tft screen towards you if you need to make it a bit easier. Also adjust the windscreen position. It's not ideal but is fine and you can access the key lock. I run the R screen so is a lot easier. As for the mount... from memory I don't think you can install it upside down as I think I tried that too. I think the problem then becomes you cannot access the power on/off button as the clamps are designed to allow access when installed correctly 👍
Hi Ric, just received the Touratech kit. I am planning on coating the bracket in Black. The bracket will be a little thicker then, due to the coating. Do you think the bolts still are long enough to Mount the bracket behind the TFT? There are longer bolts in the kit, but by your experience? Thanx again from Holland!
Hiya Castor! Nice one and hope you like it. Its a wicked piece of kit. I think you will be fine using the supplied bolts after a powder coat. There is plenty of thread from memory. And I wouldn't expect a material level of additional thickness of the paint (All being well)! Hope that helps! And always great to hear from Holland!!!! ;) Cheers again Ric
Hello Mark, Apologies as not been on here as often lately. Have you sorted your issue out? Mine is held snug in the cradle and the rubbers when pushed into both sides do lock into place and hold the NAV securely. YES the rubbers make contact. Thanks Ric
Hello mate. I have to say out of all the gos mounts I’ve owned on any bike. This Touratech mount and lock unit is the best I’ve ever seen by far. I agree if they don’t do one then your definitely missing out a little. These things are bomb proof 👍
Hello Lusema. Sorry I’m not sure what you mean? The cylinder is part of the touratech bracket. Knowing the length won’t work if you had your own without the rest of the mount. The cylinder does not reach or make contact with any other part of the bike 🧐
@@RicardoYeep hello, it's just to know the elements that I could put on it 😬. today I have a bar between the two screen screws and I know that the Touratech one is shorter, but by how many centimeters?
Hello Ric, please can you tell me how you are managing the button on/off when your GPS is on your support. If I remember well the on/off button is on the back so due you still have access ?
Hello Laurent! Thanks for the message and I confirm you still have access to the button for power. Please have a look at 14m 44 seconds on the video. Press pause and you can see the power button for the SAR nav is still accessible 👍 However mine is powered by the switch live of the bike anyway so it powers on and turns off when I turn the bike on and off 👍 Thanks Ric
Hiya William! Yes I agree… it’s not a solution to leave your sat Nav on and go leave the bike for a walking around town as such 👍 Mainly for safekeeping of the device from popping out the carrier and being a more robust vibration free mounting. But does allow for convenience for quick stops at fuel stations or similar where you can keep it within visibility but no chance a random kid can run up pop it off the cradle and run 👍
@@RicardoYeep Thanks for confirming. I appreciate all the great content you have been putting up on the new 1290 (mine is supposed to be in this month).
One question: i build a similar mount for my 2019 sas. It is exactly the same way attached to the bike's screen. Because the screen is mounted on damping-rubber, it has some flex. So, my gps holder accumulates this flex, with this result: the GPS shakes quite a bit.( on rough- and offroad)... I guess, the Touratech holder has the same issue. If not, how did you solve the vibrations ? Thx
The touratech holder is very solid. I did a full weekend off road rally and left my gps in place. Was very sturdy unlike the OEM. I can’t even move the thing if I tried 👍
@@RicardoYeep strange. When i grab the the screen of my sas i can move it ( because it is fitted in rubber dampers) . Everything you attach at the screen has to move with it... It is not that much, but nowhere as sturdy like f.i. at a gs.. Ofcourse, the oem holder is a shame for ktm. The latest model has exactly the same holder: useless off road
@@Francis-mr7jx hi Francis. I don’t think you understood what I meant. I use the touratech GPS mount. It is secured to the solid base that the TFT display screen is actually bolted to. It does not move at all. There is no contact with the wind shield at all 👍
Absolutely! Is as solid as the dash itself. I have the ktm one also and it vibrated too much. I changed it after a while. I mean it’s ok.. but if you have decent roads. Whereas this one I leave my gps on doing off road and it’s solid as a rock 👍
Hello Terje, I don’t think so. The cut out to allow the release button is placed at the top. You would need to insert the gps upside down otherwise. Also I think the motorbike tft screen would block access to the key lock
Hiya Johan! haha sorry never occurred to me to turn it on. I have already done the GPS hardwiring vid and see it come on with the ignition. Unfortunately I was in the mind set of getting the "mount and lock kit" on. But yes would have been good to have seen the full GPS powered up with it in its cradle like you say!! :) Cheers Ric
Hei Ric, thx for sharing. I have exactly same gps, with the oem holder. Really shaking on off-road. My concern is not to lose it while riding :)) I took into consideration this touratech system, but oh boy that’s a heavy big thing there. On the other hand… why did they left it unpainted 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ At the beginning of your video I was 100% sure I won’t mount on my bike this metal, castle secured , jail locking system lol… but now I am having second thoughts 🤦🏻♂️😂 maybe it’s a good thing. For security onroad, off-road… etc
Hiya Florin, I know what you mean I have the OEM mount too and it vibrates a little on road which I can put up with. But no way would I leave the SATNAV mounted on the OEM one while going off-road. That thing is going to come off the clip. Id put it in a bag until back on road. But this Touratech Lock kit is pretty serious kit. it does weigh a bit and is as solid as it looks. And that GPS mount base is like a steel girder. It is solid too. Overall the GPS will be as solid and stable as the bikes own TFT display. if you have the SAR screen it will be much easier to lock and unlock. As the SAS screen is large it can interfere with access. You need to raise the screen to the high position to assist. Also you may need to tilt the display TFT forwards towards you (as the GPS mount moves with it). this will also allow for more access. Cheers Ric

That doesn't help at all against theft! Because there are only 2 screws that have to be unscrewed in 10 seconds, and someone can take the whole thing with the bracket.
Hiya agreed but to fair if your having a coffee or even only filling up at a station at least you don’t have to worry about snatch and grab. Saves removing it when taking a pee etc. also is a lot more secure for general use. I don’t think it was ever intended to leave your £400 unit on and leave your bike alone all day. You’d have to be pretty crazy to leave your unit in 👍
First off really appreciate the videos and have watched them all - For those playing at home there is actually 3 bolts to remove the screen - two at the top and the pivoting one at the bottom - I only mention this as when I did mine I watched your video over and over and could not understand what I did wrong as the screen was not coming off.
Ric

But after all bikes are for continuous improvements haha… yes the Touratech item is much better but a lot more expensive in unfortunately. I too will be getting rid of my oem one as won’t need that again either! 😁
Good luck on the new bike order and the waiting 🤤 It’s something to look forward to ☝️
Keep safe and have a happy Christmas too (or as we are told to say these days “happy holidays” 🤝)

Great step by step Thx. Consider drilling small holes in the new bracket for the zippy ties, it will clean it up a bit.
Hiya Jeff thanks for the time watching and appreciate the feedback 🙏. Glad it was of some use to you. And good tip 👍

Damn Rick, I just bought the TomTom…This sat nav looks great!! Hope it is friendlier to use than the old model. Good review again! 👍

Good advise on not using an Impact driver.

Ric!!
I have the 3 mounts as well, I prefer the touratech version.
You can use the lock on any of them.
Yeah mate! Although the lock is definitely too heavy to use with the oem mount. In addition to the weight of the actual SATNAV in my opinion. It will vibrate too much. 👍
Looks good - can you get to the key easily - it looks to be tight up against the screen?
Thanks in advance
Hello mate thanks for the comment! Yeah is a bit tight but manageable with the screen in the optimal position. You will need to adjust the screen to make it easier whenever you install or remove 👍

Haha thanks Michael!! Thanks that will stay with me now! 👍
Hi Rick,
First of all, thank you for all your great videos! They have helped me a lot, especially the one where you removed the DB killers 😉
I just received my Zumo XT GPS Locking mount and installed it the same way you did.
Cheers
Ric :)
Hi, great vids. Any chance you could do a run through of the KTM toolkit, noticed some items you are using that are not in the kit I received. Cheers, Bob

I think I was cussing myself later and then added them on 👍

Anyway as long as your happy with yours that’s all that matter 👍

Hello Rick, great video as always, do you know what is the size of the bar (Touratech Holder)? 22mm? I want to put on it sp connect.
Hello mate. Just had a quick luck and definitely no where near 22mm. Lois around 10mm-12mm at most. 👍
Merci beaucoup
Hi Rick
Like your vids!
Planning to mount the Touratech on my SAS, too, but wonder if it is too close to the screen to lock and unlock with they key. Can you share your experience, pls?
Johannes
Hia Johannes.. Thank you for the feedback mate. Much appreciated :)
Cant go wrong with the Touratech kit. yes it is close however it just means that you will need to wind the screen either up or down to access the lock barrel. I have tried it with both SAR and SAS screen and I seem to manage albeit is a bit tricky if you have a bunch of keys... Definitey easier with a sole key to twist!
Many thanks
Ric
Thank you. I like this.
Hi Ricardo, Is it easy to lock and unlock with the windscreen in the high or low position ?
Hello Michael. On the S model it can be tricky but doable. You’ll have to have the screen on the lowest setting. And the tft tilted in its most forward position from memory. Is easier on a SAR though for sure.
👍
Awesome video as always

But tall riders may have the screen tilted towards the screen which may be a small nuisance if you regularly want to unlock the SATNAV
No need to remove screen! :)
I hope that was clear explain?
Those with a SAR screen wont have this inconvenience to think about
Thanks

Shame Touratech didn’t powder coat the bracket black Ric, would’ve given it a stealthier look. Good job done well. 😉👍

Hello Ric, i had the same question, thank you for the answer, very clear ! Contrary to the zumolock, it seems the tourateck locking system is solid and secure.
Thank you Ric for triste excellent vidéo, as always.

Hiya Yannick! Thanks for letting me know. And as always great to hear you found the little no frills vids useful! Yes the Touratech system is bomb proof! lol

Ric
@@RicardoYeep awesome mate! Thanks for the extended advice. Much appreciated!
Cheers

Hi mate! Sorry for late reply! You’ve probably sourced the info already but here it is anyway 🙏
Product code: 065-1397
Manufacturers code: 01-065-1397-0
Brand: Touratech
@Ricardo_Yeep cheers bud yes all sorted and fitted now. Happy new year
Hi Ric,I've had the Touratech locking mount for a while now,the standard Garmin mount just didn't give me confidence the XT wouldn't end up smashed to bits on the road.
Cheers
Ric
@@RicardoYeep Hiya Ric,yes its a great bit of kit for making sure that sat-nav isn't going anywhere...after seeing your video I've ordered the Touratech mount, they didn't appear to do it when i first got the lock kit.Might give it a lick of mat black spray paint though.🙂
Cheers.
@@RicardoYeep Thank you for your help.
And always great to hear from Holland!!!! ;)

Unfortunately, I think this kind of mounting is impossible with the XT2 due to its greater width..
I believe you are correct. Different size . Another reason I kept to the XT 👍
Its a shame Touratech don't make a similar GPS mount for the 2019 KTM 1290SAR.
Hello mate. I have to say out of all the gos mounts I’ve owned on any bike. This Touratech mount and lock unit is the best I’ve ever seen by far. I agree if they don’t do one then your definitely missing out a little. These things are bomb proof 👍
Nice Ricardo, thank you
Thanks mate 👍
Hello
can you tell me the length of the cylinder?
thank you
Hello Lusema. Sorry I’m not sure what you mean? The cylinder is part of the touratech bracket. Knowing the length won’t work if you had your own without the rest of the mount. The cylinder does not reach or make contact with any other part of the bike 🧐

Press pause and you can see the power button for the SAR nav is still accessible 👍
However mine is powered by the switch live of the bike anyway so it powers on and turns off when I turn the bike on and off 👍

Is it just two bolts to remove the bar, snip the cable and you have a $600
Sat Nav?
Hiya William! Yes I agree… it’s not a solution to leave your sat Nav on and go leave the bike for a walking around town as such 👍
Mainly for safekeeping of the device from popping out the carrier and being a more robust vibration free mounting.

There is no contact with the wind shield at all 👍
Looks sturdy...
Could strap a house brick to it 😂
Nice mount. I will order too.
Yeah mate it’s quality 👍
Looks more robust than the KTM sat nav mount - my one flexes too much.
Absolutely! Is as solid as the dash itself. I have the ktm one also and it vibrated too much. I changed it after a while. I mean it’s ok.. but if you have decent roads. Whereas this one I leave my gps on doing off road and it’s solid as a rock 👍
Hi Ric. Would it be possible to mount it with the key below, keyhole better protected etc.? Geat video as always 🤗
Hello Terje, I don’t think so. The cut out to allow the release button is placed at the top. You would need to insert the gps upside down otherwise. Also I think the motorbike tft screen would block access to the key lock

Hei Ric, thx for sharing. I have exactly same gps, with the oem holder. Really shaking on off-road. My concern is not to lose it while riding :)) I took into consideration this touratech system, but oh boy that’s a heavy big thing there. On the other hand… why did they left it unpainted 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
At the beginning of your video I was 100% sure I won’t mount on my bike this metal, castle secured , jail locking system lol… but now I am having second thoughts 🤦🏻♂️😂 maybe it’s a good thing.
Cheers

That doesn't help at all against theft! Because there are only 2 screws that have to be unscrewed in 10 seconds, and someone can take the whole thing with the bracket.
Hiya agreed but to fair if your having a coffee or even only filling up at a station at least you don’t have to worry about snatch and grab. Saves removing it when taking a pee etc. also is a lot more secure for general use.
