All jokes aside, thank you so much for approaching this experience earnestly and sharing it with us. This is one of the most powerful albums I've ever heard, but it's truly devastating. Thank you for not trying to run from or diminish that power, but for facing it head-on. I think it's as raw an artistic exploration of death as there's ever been.

The line in Soria Moria “I went back to feel alone there” is a reference to a song he wrote 15 years before. He wrote that song after a breakup about going back to places they had been before. To me, referencing that song with the audible emotion in his voice suggests losing Genevieve has completely recontextualised his past relationships and feelings of loss. It was touring that old album that he met Genevieve for the first time. That feeling of loss at the old relationship led him to find true love, and then to feel true loss.

I still haven't gotten around to even finishing this album. It's just too heavy. The images he puts down are so raw it's easy to put yourself in his shoes and see your own loved one's lost. It hurts.

I understand this perspective, but I think it's also just a good time for when feeling like feeling sad, a very reliable performer. Plus the songs are good! But maybe not everyone's cup of tea as a regular listening experience.

yo smags appreciate the fact that you stuck through it and its a great reaction and analysis. you've mentioned in previous videos that you've had some issues with mental health before and like if there's ever a time that like a reaction is too much or a record seems like its gonna be too much to listen to then like dont put yourself through it for our sake. mental health is important. keep your head up!

Hey Smags! I just found your channel recently and even though i usually don't subscribe to reaction channels, i have to say that the sheer width and honesty of your reactions made me so eager to see more. I've been dying to see reviews and reactions of albums that people dont's usually listen to on youtube, whivh makes your channel perfect for me!
I assume your list of albums to listen to is pretty stacked already, but i'd love it if you concider taking a dive into the band Bloc Party. Their old stuff was mainly post-punk revival, but they stretch from that, to pop, to a wbole bunch of other things like genre-mashing. Their album "Silent alarm" is a must-hear, and the song "Helicopter" on that record is genuinely my favourite song of all time. Love the content so far and can't wait to see more!

Evening friends! In today's episode of "What happened today?" I'm gonna tell you about an experience I had with a crow. So basically, up on *mount eerie* , there is a large tree. As the madlad I am, I was obviously chilling in the branches, listening to fart sounds, enclosed in a ball of leaves, through which only the bravest rays of light pass. This was a huge base for all the birds in the area, but thankfully, they didn't mind my infiltration. That's what i thought atleast. All of a sudden, I saw a dark bird atop one of the branches. It was a crow. Guys... *A crow looked at me* . The only thing I had on my mind in that moment was: "Run". And so I did. I did a quadruple backflip off the branch on the wavy grass steppe standing on the mountaintop, and I booked it. Quite a shocking story I must say! Also good reaction as always Mr. Consistent!

this album is so haunting. phil is my favorite artist of all time and according to lastfm i’m in the top 10 listeners by number of plays for mount eerie, but i think i’ve only heard this record in full maybe two or three times over the years. it’s just too painful. if you want a less gut wrenching but still beautiful experience i’d recommend his earlier album “No Flashlight” which expands upon a lot of the stuff you hear on the glow pt.2 with a more philosophical lens. there’s also the mount eerie record that the microphones put out, which acts as a sequel to the glow pt.2 and a transition to the new pseudonym
