it's so funny because i think the random lyrics you're seeing are from "the avalanche" which is like an outtakes, extras, etc of the illinois album bc the lyrics during the out of egypt song are literally from the song titled "the avalanche" after the album. very great mini album btw!

not so fun fact some of this album was inspired by the dread he felt facing the current illness he's dealing with :( love sufjan stevens and i truly hope he gets well soon so he can keep writing his heart onto the page

This album hit me like a ton of bricks... and that's without reading the lyrics. Then I read the lyrics, hit me again. Then I learned about about his wife... I'm bruised here geez... just a perfect album if I ever heard one

It's so weird seeing # of plays on each song... Saint Michel I bet you is one of the favorites on this album... but I guess this is general public popularity, not fans of the genre (who likely never use this music platform? I dunno even what it is)

I absolutely adore this album!!! Definitely check out Xiu Xiu’s Twink Peaks cover album! Its amazing but in a haunting way!!!

You should totally check out Ray of light by Madonna. Absolute classic and I don't think anyone expects it to be as good as it is. Especially from a production standpoint.

don’t see anybody topping this album ever. it’s just that impeccable

The themes that mattered the most to David Lynch and that are at the center of all his works were the fullest hearts, the purest love, and the brightest lights that help guide our way. But his stylistic approach was always one of chiaroscuro, because he knew that the best way to see the light is to surround it in darkness. That's basically the "bittersweet" tones you're hearing here. I hope you'll keep going with Twin Peaks, as well as more of Lynch's work. The World Spins is also my favorite on this album, and when you hear it in the show, just know that's considered by many to be one of the greatest moments in TV history.

girl feels godd is pretty much a nod to madonna's ray of light, it even have one of the producers from it. i think it would be cool a reaction to this album!
