I have a 2003 Sequoia 4WD, took it down to Moab over the weekend and hit some moderate trails. I hit a gravel parch pretty hard and spun my tires while steering around the corner. After I left the corner my steering wheel was cocked 30 degrees the the left. I got out and my toe was misaligned on my passenger side. Drove back down the trail a little wobbly but when I hit the pavement it started to get worse. When I hit the brakes or a pothole hard the steering wheel changes position again and the truck swerves around the road. Toe alignment also keeps changing back and forth. The LCA’s on both sides are new with new bushings too. UBJ’s are new OEM, no play in LBJ on either side. I checked inner and outer tie rods on both sides, no play. Inner and outer tie rods are also new. No play in steering shaft or the knuckle that connects it to the rack. I’m thinking it could be within the rack or maybe sub frame bushings. The rack is also leaking from both seals. Fluid has been full for the entire trip. I’m not really sure where to go from at this point so please let me know if you have any suggestions. Thank you
hi, if every thing checked out fine then the problem should be the steering rack, a way to check is when some one turns the steering wheel while some one else is checking the movement beneath trying to reproduce the problem but safety first.
