When I'm driving slow and making a turn it sounds like my axle or something is binding and popping really hard. Also the steering is really tight. when I'm up to speed turning and let go of the wheel it wants to push back in the other direction. Was thinking a bad power steering rack but not sure. Any ideas?
This guy is a pro. He get right to it! He should do a 1auto class for diy people like home depot does. I love it! Informative & entertaining
I wish this gentleman was my teacher when I went to school for auto tech. Good info man!
This what mines does and I learn hands on so I been fixing my car my self
I got all the tools I need now.
Being a handy mechanic is good.
Wish I learned it earlier in my teens
One of the most things used in the entire world now are cars
Woah 1A is climbing the u tube entertainment ladder, great!
Great video! I’m not mechanically minded but you have a new subscriber here.
I started thinking what’s the next thing that goes if you don’t fix this right as he answered that question and apparently what goes is you off the road😂
My malibu doing this for a while now. Scared to drive it. Replaced struts because I was told that was probably it. Still makes this sound. And lots of play in the wheel. This will be my next project, I hope it fixes the issues.
Did it fix it?
hey man, see if your vehicle is available for recall. I had the same problem as you, 2005 malibu. replaced most of the front end only to find out the steering shaft is for recall. Dealership is fixing for free.
Same issue with an old 90's VW Jetta. Told the guy to replace the whole unit if he can still find it .... rather not drive long distance or high speed. If that U - joint snaps off u dont have control of the steering and might smash into oncoming traffic
Thank you. Now I have an idea where to start 😊. 👍
My brand new mazda cx30 after six months made this kind of noise and it just started one day, except for me it happens when im on full lock to the right.
I have an 03 Dakota. New steering shaft fixed it perfectly
How do you know if you need to replace the upper or lower steering shaft?
If you watch these videos for five years , multiple times a day , multiple times a week.
Are you just as good as someone with ase stamping
Yes you are. I’m ah living witness. I’ve been watching, studying, and doing hxlla research for three years now and I can work on any vehicle 😊
What are the steps on a 2008 Ran 1500 intermediate steering shaft?
Thats very good information. Thanks
very easy to do great instuctions
Would this cause vibration in the steering wheel
That's what going on with my AE80😤 need a new one but it's lil bit hard to get it
Exactly the sound i got.
Thanks for the video, I have a question. My Steering has this clunk and it also seems stiffer and sticky at 12 oclock. However my steering wheel is also off centred and after a number of attempts we can’t get it straight. Could this be related ?
That means don't play with steering at all.. go see mechanic
I have this noise🤯thanks for the vid!
I’ve got a 2014 Ford Raptor , when I turn the steering wheel to the left only to the left there is a binding grinding noise felt inside the steering wheel . It happens at stop or slow speed or when at angle upwards
Check your rack and pinion bushings.
"Veericle" but thank you. This is quite informative.
Thanks very much for this great video..,l need the same part for my 2013 Elantra GL sedan 4 doors…,can please tell me which part to buy …. Thanks
My car only clunks while on full left lock and I move wheel slightly from right to left. Any ideas?
Excellent love it thanks
Mine was a outer tie rod
Mine does it whens its stationery only, would it most likely be the same problem? I don't get any sound when turning the wheel while driving, been like this for about a week now.
Well explained.
+@lostvlog6857 Thank you! We appreciate you taking the time to watch!
Can this cause the steering to wander ?? I'm having a similar issue bit it only happens when I turn right
will this also cause the steering wheel to wonder at low speeds?
By time I'm 55 I'll be the tiger woods of DIY car repair. I'm 30 as of now.
Been liking to work on car since 12 or 13 . Me and brother went to Lincoln tech. He works for the city suburbs buses.
Me, back at square one watching 1a auto videos. But it's okay. It's just like army e8 rank. I'll master this and become a 1st sgt. Of diy
Both my U-joints on the shaft have play.
Shaft has been obsolete for years... hooray 🤦🏽
This is going to be fun to fix.
Good job

On my 2015 Nissan murano sl 115k miles when I'm going straight I hear a low clunk noise on driver side front end.
If I turn the wheel to the left / counter clockwise the clunk noise goes away.. Just curious your thoughts?
Thanks.
My 2012 mitsubishi rvr doesn't start with push button n says immobilizer service repair required. Towed to mitsubishi dealership to check. They said everything shows OK except steering column not sending computer signals n need to be replaced with brand new one cost around 3000.
Is there any possibility of repairing.
Replaced an used one. But couldn't programme
I’ve got a 2008 ford van and it has a smallest slight clunk when I go over bumps or pot holes. Could this be the same issue
Thanks man
Hello I just replace my steering shaft on my 2006 Malibu I replace the same way because I had my steering wheel wrap with the seatbelt
Anyway my steering wheel is off center now do I need alignment
I changed the shaft and with the truck off there a lil slack In the wheel and it makes a noise at the u joint knuckle where the upper connect to the steering wheel ut its brand new so why does it make a noise is it normal since its a connection and its moving? I'm sorry not good at this kind of stuff
My steering is really hard to turn and i replaced the power steering pump....could this prevent my steering from turning ?
I have the exact problem, anyone know if these are known to break? I don't want to replace mine unless there is risk of death/severe injury.
Very informative video thank you needed the tip and you should be like that how you were at the end of the video when you were saying subscribe but the whole video but still great video though
How many cornwell tools do you guyz own
My Tucson is 6 years old with only 65,000km. The Hyundai dealer told me I need to replace the steering shaft due to wear and tear. Is it normal to replace steering shafts after only 6 years?
I love the trq videos
+Charles Payne Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c

I drive a 2008 Toyota Yaris, when i speed up in the highway, the entire car and steering wheel vibrates🙈 but when I slow down,it drives smooth again. But soon as I begin to speed up,it will vibrate extensively again.
Any ideas what the problem could be?
Where can you buy steering couplers for old car, like 1988 toyota?
Is it safe to drive when a steering column bearing is going out?
Just replaced the intermediate shaft on my 2011 Ram 2500 for this very problem
Is the intermediate another term for the upper part of the shaft? I’ve been looking for a replacement and all I’m seeing is intermediate and lower. Sorry if it’s a stupid question, not very mechanically inclined
I turn my wheel half way and it clunks and on rough roads it’s moved in the dash and steering wheel goes side to side what could it be I’ve replaced a lot and it’s getting to the point where I can’t handle it. What could it be? You can feel it and hear noises in the column and it goes side to side really fast but if you hold wheel tight you can hear it
+ThatSaskRam We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
I have a 2010 Sierra 4x4 there is a clanking sound coming from the left side when im driving in 2high whenever I put in 4x4 it clanks very hard and loud anyone know what it js

My car been doing this for a year. How has it not broke
Man my truck is making an awful noise I just cant tell if its the cv axel or my ujoints
They seem like the 2.0 version of what you guyz got going on
Apparently, on some cars, let's say the volvo had it because of a bolt (what??? How???)
