Also, make please a review for QOA Gimlet. Interesting one for me
I found qkz hbb and waner very similar to my ear. And both for me is not that clean as 7hz zero or chu’s. Even CRA is more clean to me. Maybe it’s because of amounts of highs, I don’t know. If anyone know why I have this feeling, please tell me.
6:34 it's hola not ola, also it's truthear
@@spaceriot23Thank mate, didn’t know this one
it would be interesting if kz pr1 pro will be added in the list
I'd disagree with Chu bringing nothing to the table - it is still a great way to try out spring tips on the cheap, especially since you get all 3 sizes and they're smaller than regular, so blind buying those can be tricky. All while still getting a greatly-tuned IEM on top of it to add to collection.
Actually the small size works in favour with comfort as well. Love it to be able just plug in and forget about it during work
🤣
how is it “trying out the spring tips on the cheap,” if your paying more for them because they come with the chu? i’d be spending more money, for iem’s i don’t even want lol. better idea to just buy the tips on their own.
@@daniel6242 because when buying spring tips separately, you only get 3 pairs of one size - good luck figuring out which one you need without trying them first. And Chu gives you all sizes except for XL, hence why I think it's worth it even if paying slightly more, not to mention that the iem itself is still really good.
Do you buy IEM or do you buy the accompanying Tips?
Amazing how a single year makes so many of these recommendations outmoded.
Bro I was literally searching for this comment XD. Btw can you tell me how good is the KZ Castor Bass version against the IEMs in this list if you have knowledge on it? My order is on the way and I am looking for some personal opinions.
I think safe should be above niche
totally agree. something safe pleases more people than a niche thing.
Exactly
Niche is usually just better overall for the niche that it serves so I disagree
I think overall tier naming in this list a bit confusing, is niche better than safe? And vice versa, or is it on the same level just different flavour?
Safe can be boring and tend to have better options, while niche might not have a better option that delivers the same niche specific sound.
Would have loved to see the etymotics (ER2SE, ER2XR) too though they'll probably go in the niche category. 😅
Er2se is still king when it comes to sound at that price point
@@jjcornelio7741 WHat about fit and comfort? I'm in the market for stage use in professional music setting. I'm working with se215 and se425, the fit is amazing for several hours, the signature is not the best , but..
Yeah. Nothing beats the Etymotics at their respective price point, if you can handle the ear rape. Currently using the ER3XR. The detail retrieval is sooo good. Beats headphones and iems I've heard at three times the price and more.
I'm starting to feel that Giz Audio evaluates things differently than I do. Old is old but not worse than new or colaborated one.
@@zrad09 yes
its not an evaluation ,its the strategy.
@@zrad09 I agree with your opinion.
When I saw aria in safe category, it made me question should I believe this guy. His opinions are drastically changed.
@@dineshdas8392 I have the Starfield and to me they sound pretty good. Like others have said, he should've just excluded them out. I also think he should include materials into reviews cause Starfields do not feel cheap at all while others in this list look like they are.
Please do the same for the 80$/100$ - 200$ range!
In which im still looking for the best set for presenting drums the most natural and lively - I tend to get the S12, Olina SE or Hexa
Went in with the Wan Er and goddamn im so surprised on how good the iem is. Some days i even see it as even better than my WF XM4 (yes i know wireless). It has almost the same tuning as i have on my eq preset on my XM4s but just have more "oomph". A really great IEM.
Kinda crazy to see how much the IEM market has changed since I was last into it about a year ago.
I distinctly remember the Aria being considered a definitive "Blind Buy" option (and it being above the Titan S) while the CHU (which had just been released) was the ONLY good option under $30. Now they're considered "decent" and "mediocre," respectively.
@@Elektroslagbad take, espec with ad hominem
this guy's opinions don't match a lot of the community.
I still think nothing could beat the Aria if eq is involved (sub $100). It responds so well in a lot tuning that i'd casually just switch between configurations like having different iems without the hassle of changing them.
Many iems better than aria even with eq nowadays
@@hasanudinhadi of all that I've tried I'm always going back to Aria because (as previously mentioned) it works seamlessly well in different eq configurations without sounding weird nor forced.
@@user-du7kb6ed1q because that's what "trends" want you to think
I'd suggest having a graphic for the names everytime you declare the name of the iem.
Now we just need the waifu tier list
Only IEMs I'd suggest adding are the Etymotic ER2SE/XR. Otherwise, excellent list! After getting the Wan'er all my other budget IEMs sadly began collecting dust. The ER2XR is the only budget one I'd still use but I need to get new tips cos the current ones come out inside my ear canal 3/5ths of the time lol.
Chu brings CONFORT, and in my opinion just that already make it worth it.
Agree, until the paint start chipping like Aria did. Lot of ppl complaining about the cable quality, at least mine got modded with 2 pin
@@spaceriot23 only problem I have with the cable is that it's sticky and doesn't like being straight, but it's something I can live with (especially since the Chu is kinda expensive here lol)
Funnily enough I bought the Tanchjim Zero and the Wan'er about a week ago and I can't wait to get them both and see if I feel the same!
So how did it go for you? How does the midrange in both compare?
Well done Timmy. The Wan'er is indeed the best budget set I own. Although, can get fatiguing for longer listening.
How is it for vocals?
getting into the hobby thanks to you Timmy. Can't wait for Galileo. So far loving my Aria SE and I have Cadenza too. Definitely will try out some of the blind buys and I do love female vocals!
I have maybe 20 Iem's like Kz, Qkz, Tanchijm, Kiwi, TRN, 7hz, Tangzu and not so long ago I bough for my first time Blon Bl03 and this one kills all my Iem's and for more than week I listen only through Blon, even sleep with it. Great one, and for me very fresh even if for you people is already rusty thing. I ordered yesterday Blon x HBB 300, hope it will be good.
And I like to mention that Blon goes great on my Qudelix 5k which has bit a clean and energetic sound, but on Fiio K7 didn't sound good coz both are kind a warmish.
I really liked the small size and smooth sound of TANCHJIM ZERO, unfortunately I ripped the wires off pretty fast. So I bought the ONE. Still the same smooth nothing in small size, but with detachable cable.
heart mirror zero at $32, like original HM seems good no ?
What??? The last time I checked, they were over $60 :o
@@matthewpunk2012 same iem as HM original but different metal finish and different cable
I still love BL03 for tonality alone
Still one of my favorites as well despite a lot of new budget contenders. Pro tip, get JVC spiral dot tips for them to add a bit of treble and lessen the bass a bit
I feel the same way about the chu. If anything, I really like the spring tips it comes with and those made it worth it for me.
Loved the ranking idea! Great video! :D
I'm surprised at how disappointing the HBB Khan was to me. I was expecting it to sound better than the previous QKZ collab since it's newer and priced more.
I was very excited to get it since HBB did say that it was a very easy IEM to drive, no DACs needed which was a good plus for me. Unfortunately, it was not the case with my pair. I'm not sure if it was defective or not.
The whole sound was very dark and dull for me. The only good thing about it was the bass. I love how it wasn't muddy and still packed enough punch and was quite smooth. The midrange felt a bit recessed. The treble did feel tame though which was also a plus for me.
But my main problem with it was how low the volume was.
It was two or three clicks lower than the Wan'Er. I always had to put the volume at 70% just to enjoy the same quality that I could enjoy with the Wan'Er at 40%. Heck, even with the 7HZ Zero I only use 50% at most with it. It's just a tad louder than the Quarks (both the OG and the DSP).
But all of these were remedied when I used a cheap USB-DAC. The midrange was what changed the most. It wasn't as recessed. Everything felt more clear and the overall sound-quality didn't sound as muddy and dark as it did without the DAC.
I wouldn't say it's a blind buy for me though I would definitely put it on the niche category. I feel like the Cadenza did things better and that's without a DAC. But I can see how it would be praised by other people. I would still choose the original QKZ collab than the Khan though.
I ordered the wan'er and khan a couple of days ago. I've got the Aria at the moment and generally like the tuning and detail, but in rock/metal it sounds kind of muddy and grainy, especially guitars and vocals. I'm hoping the wan'er will be good for a more neutral/clean sound and the khan for a more fun listening session.
Yeah that’s the thing I never loved about the Aria, it’s great for bass heavy music but for vocals not so much
please give an update after listening to both of them
Please give us an update once you try them out
If you want a clean and not muddy sound from the waner you will be dissapointed (as i did).It has a nice melodical sound but thats about it.
I have the BL03, 7hz Zero, Quarks DSP and Aria
If i will rank them i say 7hz is the Blind buy, Aria and Quarks DSP on Worth the Demo and ofc nothing on BL 03
7hz Zero has very good female vocals which is my taste but it's not very exciting because of how neutral the sub bass and mid bass is.
Aria is the most interesting tuning here it has good mid bass it makes everything more engaging but the female vocals are recessed compared to 7hz zero, also it's quite expensive from what you're getting.
For Quarks DSP... tbh i don't like the sub and mid bass, it's too much! for female vocals i have to boost the volume up in the point bass is too loud just to make the female vocals shine. Also it has poor clarity maybe because of the noise floor.
BL03 should be good but the clarity is very bad and it got a lot of mud too, vocals are bad in certain recordings.
Great list! However you missed the etymotic er2 series and tripowin mele.
I just got the Ola bass edition last week and was blown away from how good it was! Looking forward to getting ur iem btw.
Bought the regular ola and dang, wished i pick the bass version! Oh well.
My main IEM was Starfield and recently I've bought PR1 Pro just to try out the cheapest planar I could find (it costed around 80 bucks). Got a tiny bit of WOW factor while listening to them for several weeks, because of decent treble extension and overall neutral tuning with good speed characteristics and instrument separation, also nice soundstage. From my experience it beats Starfield in details but only by a small margin, in other aspects they sound kinda on the same level as for me. But I also found out that I don't really fully like the way the planar driver sounds. It kinda seats in the middle between a dynamic driver and a balanced armature. I also possess some hybrid IEMs - ZS10 Pro and NeoBuds Pro (it's a TWS actually) - that have balanced armatures in addition to dynamic drivers. I really don't fancy how vocals sound from the balanced armatures and planar drivers, they come across kinda thin and sibilant in nuances for my taste. So I'd rather stick to dynamic driver IEMs, even though in budget range they usually provide less details than BAs and planars, but the sound feels like more natural, melodic, live and relaxed to me.
Thanks for the video. I think I'm gonna try out Quarks DSP next, really looking for some ultra-compact earbuds with mic that don't have an over-ear fit, but a standard one.
tanchjim tanya or tangzu wan er?,
to my ears the tanya is a combination of sony mh1 and samsung akg.i don't know if the tangzu wan er will sound boring to me in any case i would prefer the HOLA+eq construction.
Aria and Starfield are really close, but Starfield is someway more relaxed, perfect for a before sleeping listening. Even having other IEMs, Starfield is one I'm keeping and likely the one I reach to more often.
I much prefer Starfields too, just wish they fit my ears better. I never understood why Crin said they sound similar, to me they sound so different
If I ever want an IEM just to relax and listen the Starfield has me covered. How can I say it besides you just melt into the music when using it, it has no stand out features but somehow provides the most relaxed and easy listening experience without it sounding boring or dull.
@@burns0100I love my starfields, have had them since launch. Added a balanced cable and a pair of spinfit tips. I lay in bed and fall asleep with these on. It's almost like therapy.
I like this ranking list.
Olina SE is Hifi as per golden ears haha
You're right man
Man, the market moves so fast!
I stopped buying IEMs after getting the Salnotes Zeros, (I have more expensive IEMs, but these honestly checked almost all the boxes for my mobile needs.) yet this video makes me feel like I'm missing so much.
Also, I noticed the absence of Tin T2 Plus. What's your opinion and ranking for them nowadays?
Tin T2 Plus sucks. Tin T2 non plus and Tin T3 Plus is much better.
As someone incredibly new to iem's and audio in general I thought the exact same regarding the Hola's (Not in those exact words, but was the same conclusion), am using the Zero's as I picked up both to test them between each other with the small truthear tips I got and absolutely love them
Just bought Tangzu Wan er, compared with my existing Aria, I still prefer the latter cause wan er sound more aggressive and front, kind of fatigue for me while i am comfortable with Aria sound spectrum that makes me enjoy music more, but with that price point (wan er), can't complain much, totally worthy.
Thank you for validating me picking TANCHJIM OLA Bass, got your ranking list saved, couldn't be more thankful it exist.
Oh wow now your outro song extended. Cant wait to hear the full song
I really like the Khan. Would not hesitate to rec them.
Congrats on the Galileo! Hoping to win a pair from BGGR but if not, I'll cop em.
I was wainting for that, thank you jimmy 🤩🤩
Hey Timmy, I know that you're vocal focused, but I'd love your reviews to be a bit less biased/one sided on vocals and more about the overall performance of each set🙂
If vocals are not good than generally the set is also not good as instruments share similar fundamental and harmonic range as vocals. If vocal timbre is bad than instrument timbre will also be bad.
@@Gizaudio good point!
Seeking for experts advice.
Not an audio expert. Need recommendation for my first IEM. I’m neither planning to get budget bass heavy punchy deep low frequency pronounced tuning IEM’s + airpods pro2 or potentially replace AP2 for pricey quality IEM’s that has jbl type of bass but more pronounced in lower freq ranging 32hz. and yees I’m a basshead. I’m not sure if someone here has owned the OG Sounpeats Sonic. That type of Bass is what I’m looking for. Thanks!
I wish I had seen this before I bought The Chu. But, still, only $19 USD. So, I'm taking your advice on the Wan'er.
All the mentioned IEMs will be forgotten in a year just like BL03. I guarantee. Don't waste your money buying every one of them, just get a few and be happy.
Blo3 is not unforgotten it is still great option
Have been away from the scene because of the dent on my wallet. Is T3 plus not recommended anymore? Could someone recommend the hands down best neutral signature under 100?
How about the truthear x crinacle zero red, does it worth the blind buy?
NIce job Timmy, this old set of ears mostly agrees with you except for a couple of things. One is in regard to the Chu which (after resolving the sibilance issue with bigger tips/better seal) I still like a lot, more than the 7Hz Zero actually. The other one is about the Quarks DSP, the tuning may be good but the lack of any technical ability whatsoever is ..overwhelming. Yes, 12 bucks, I know, but still.
Thank you so much for this tier list.
I want to buy a cheap iem. (have tried Chu, and 7Hz Zero)
I'm considering between Tangzu Wan'er and Truthear Hola, any commenters have tried both?
7hz Zero or Quarks DSP?
Mostly for long listening hours.
I wonder where the Etymotic ER2 series will stand now.
Your video helped me understand a lot, thanks
Congratulations on your Galileo collab! This was a good watch. My first and only IEM is a Tin T2, and I'm looking for a second one to complement it. Looking at the HBB collabs or the Ola Bass to go the other way.
What one should I buy Linsoul KZ ZS10 Pro or truthear x crinacle zero blue ?
so... i bought the 7h zero 2, the cca cra and the wan er...
Out of the three the cra i think i will never part with. fits great, sounds great.
The zero sounds nicer than the 3 at least to me, but i got issues with the fit (thats a me problem but could help ppl with fit issues comparatively to the other 2 iems).
The wan er i seriously consider passing to someone or sending back, good fit and light. The smell of cheap plastic form the cable just won't go away (i know, can be replaced) and the real issue, they are fatiguing after a few mins of use to the point of feeling really uncomfortable. Its the 1st time get this experience from any headphone/earphone/iem. Not recomended
Does waner gives u ear pain?

RIP Moondrop Chu you had a good run (other than all the times the left ear fell off and shocked me when i plugged it into my laptop)
I lost my Chu today, so its time to find a replacement
Tang zu wan er vs 7hz zero 2 which one best for sound quality
I'm currently using CHU and might try Tangzu WAN ER later if ever my chu stops working completely, it's still going strong even when it's heavily used daily, although I had to remove the metal grills entirely when one side broke to balance out the audio. Thank you for the recommendations!
wan'er will feel boomy if you come from chu, because of its excellent treble
The Tinhifi C2's are absolutely amazing. I've been using them for about 2 mounts now and I'm enjoying every listen! Though I am looking for a nice upgrade now, can you suggest an iem upgrade that's under $70? Thanks 👍
Where are the kz?
If I like genres like Hiphop and Metal with mostly male vocals and enjoy my Seinnheiser HD58x is the Olina a good choice ? or should I go towards something like the S12 or Dunu Kima ?
I listen to mostly hip hop & I like the QKZ X HBB a lot. It slaps! S12 was too harsh in the treble for my ears but enjoyed the details a lot
Olina is bad at aggressive genres and busy tracks like metal.
For listening music ( mainly pop ) and alongside fps gaming which on should i go ? 30 dollar
Pilgrim Hype 4 Supermix 4 now as good as my old TOTL UM MEST MK2
So many new budget dongles are coming out too.
I'd probably put the Aria in nothing, especially with Truthears releasing the Hola.
Yes. If you have terrible taste
@@Luca-xr7bs Not taste, outperformed at this point.
Chi-fi market is too fast.
Yeah aria tunning is a joke compare to Olina SE
@@Luca-xr7bs terrible taste for what? It's a fact all of recent sub $50 IEM performs way better than Chu. Yeah it's a great pair of IEM year ago, but not right now. It's Chifi my guy
Well you must be deaf or something because just by looking at the graphs i can tell you the arya sounds better than hola.
This might be a stupid question.
I currently use the DT770 (80 ohms) for gaming. But when wearing for long sessions, it gets really uncomfortable. It's heavy, my ears sweat, I get itchy ears and the clamping force causes headaches. I would like to replace it with an IEM. The only purpose is for gaming (Counterstrike). Is the Truthear-Crinacle Zero a good choice? I mean, is the sound comparable to the DT770 when it comes to hearing footstep or hearing small details like someone pulling the pin on a grenade?
Hey man, was wondering if you could recommend one between the Waners and the Zeros for someone who will be listening to strictly vocals? Mostly male vocals. Thanks!
Hi there, first time buying an iem and I can't decide whether to pick the Ola Bass or the Wan'er
Thank you..this was fun 🎉
love your videos! Could you do similar for
According to your IEM list and this video, i think your taste isn't flat sounding signature, i saw moondrop ssr, tanchjim ola mentioned as shouty. Maybe you just like balanced sound.
oh yeah can't wait to see it
How do the starfield compare to current gen iems? Maybe compared to Quarks DSP. Cuz i don't have both but i want to know how much disparity is in between these 2 3 years in terms of technicality and overall enjoyments. Hope someone can give me their perspective in this. For your information i use the OG Olina with some eq, so do the current budget iems can compete?
Didn't see SSP and SSR up here...
Waner is overhyped. For someone who is stuck on 20 bucks budget worths the purchase but thats about it.I baught it based on the hype and the video i saw here(which i am pretty sure its a set up).If you can afford more than 20 pick something else. Also i dont understand that .If something sounds good it sounds good. Its a good strategy to milk consumers though..
I really like my Chu if i just wanted something just to listen to i use it daily in the office ✨✨
my decision is firmed by your tier list...khan will be my 2nd iem from kz zsn pro x...
What about Er2 how can you miss that
got my wang er recently, listened through a long ride on my ZX507. Everything is balanced, so balanced it shouldn't be in the sub 100$ range imo. I'm looking forward to Hexa or OLA if i have the chance.
Thanks Timmy.
My blind buy: 7hz zero and Olina.
Nothing: Truthear crinacle
Hello.
Would you mind sharing why you dislike the Truthear? I was thinking about getting one. As a parameter, I also have a 7hz Zero and like it very much

t3+ low resolution??!? Are u kidding me?
Got the wan'er yesterday and it's great
is the kato still worth to buy in early 2023?? im currently using chu and kinda like their tuning
I think the Kato still offers enough and is still unique enough to be considered for a purchase. You can swap the nozzles, wash them when dirty and it has good tuning and little issues. Plus it's built well.
The chu is just 7 Bucks :P (mine broke after 2 days, spring tips are being used tho)
Hey, what microfone is Giz using in the video together with the senheiser hd800?

The most expensive iem I own is the Dioko. I have lots of budget sets included in this list but I feel nothing to them anymore. Should I bite the bullet and go for the Aful Performer 5?
Hey Giza!! Can you recommend some iem that is good for gaming(fps) like valorant, pubg etc, my budget is around 20-25usd.
huumm, did the color of your list are upside down? normally green is for good/S-tier and red for not good/bad.. i'm I wrong?
CRA still exist 👍 sir Timmy do you have EQ in wavelet for CRA?
if you use eq get tin t3 plus and dunu titan s they take to eq so well also i've tried wan'er too and (fit is hit and miss) its energetic but sub bass need tuning an bit mud tone down
these are my top to go by
All the iems around $20 you mentioned are blind buys.
Khan and Truthears Zero are definitly Niche.
Tin T3+ and C2 are definirely Worth the Demo.
People say Tanchjim Ola is terrible to wear, very uncomfortable, so it would be niche, because depends on the fitting.
I still love my T3+, very engaging and fun sound, forward vocal and decent bass. I tried the truthear zero red and would honestly not consider it a worthy upgrade. I feel like lots of reviewers don't like the T3+ because they prefer the more neutral sound.
Where is the Tanchjim Zero Dsp?? WHERE IS??
