The length of that end note was ridiculous! I had chills during the whole performance. This was 17 years worth waiting! What an absolute pleasure to have witnessed this live with the fans in Amsterdam and now the rest of the world can witness this epic performance!🤘
This is about the third rendition of Floor and Henk doing this song, and I find it really interesting how different Henk's delivery is on this one. He went much harsher for a metal crowd than he did for the more general audience of "Beste Zangers". He's changing his performance to suit his audience. That's a committed performer.
Its so wholesome having Henk Poort. As classical opera singer as there is hopping into the metal mayhem without a second thought :D What a class act through and through.
I agree. Luckily for us, in this time and age. Musicians have realized, that music are universal, and really have no boundaries. But can mix, and produce amazing results.
When comparing this performance to End of an Era's, so much has changed during these 17 years : Tarja, Anette, Troy, Floor, Jukka N., Kai, Marko and Jukka K. Band members came and went but the magic at the center of it all is still here and better than ever. Thank you Nightwish...
Except that Nightwish has changed into worse. Today they're like a group of middle aged people playing for their own amusement. The last rock roll element left with Marco. Floor needs to carry the stage presence alone at her shoulders now that Jukkas energy and style is gone, Marcos true heavy metal presence and sound is gone, Tuomas has gotten old and chubby and moved himself in the back row of the stage. Troy is looking like a homeless hobo and sounding like generic pop singer. Emppu has tied his hair and gets lost in the mash with the bassist who brings nothing to the show. I guess it's a natural evolution when people get old. The fact seems to be that rock and metal belongs to the young and dangerous. But it's nice they still keep going and people enjoy what they do. I like to listen to them on record but live they don't make me feel much.
I was one of those 23 000 people in Ziggo Dome Arena, and I still can believe that I was there. It was an amazing Nightwish show!!! Thank you Nightwish!!!
Thank you for making Henk's wish come true, and it delivered us a great performance. For many Dutch people, this is basically a national pride thing, two of our most beloved singers together with the best symphonic metal band in the world, again.. thank you so very much for this.

Personally, I don't like Tarja and Marko's version. I feel their voices are unsuited to the operatic style, like Tarja's scooping and Marko's belt. Whereas here the idiomatic style is much better demonstrated. In the live versions, Tarja is often too sharp on the last note, whereas here it is bang on perfect. That's coming from a classically trained operetta and metal singer, but it's my opinion.

Well no fucking shit, but take stock of what you are listening to. You have one of the best singers on earth performing a metal cover in full voice. Dude probably could have rattled the windows in that place without amplification on some of those later verses.

Uncle Henk seems like such a cool person. Seeing him flashing the the horns and wearing a NW t-shirt is amazing, you can understand that he respects both the band and the audience. And as you said he seems to be genuinely enjoying the whole experience.
Henk Poort is a well-known Dutch opera and musical singer. Floor saw the musical as a teenager (?) with Henk as the Dutch Phantom at the time and that impressed her as young Floor. Three years ago, Floor participated in the Beste Zangers programme. She was very happy when she heard that Henk Poort would also be one of the participants. She then asked him if he wanted to sing The Panthom of the opera with her during the duo evening of the program. He then agreed because he in return was allowed to sing the song with Nightwish. Isn't it nice how something like this comes together?😉 I Love it! Thanks Nightwish and Henk!
Floor held the D6 note at the end for over 11 seconds, and it sounded perfect, beautiful, powerful, without losing anything in the note, with incredible balance.

I asked them why not a local concert and they were there because they were hoping for the Phantom. Imagine 24 hours of travelling for one song! Or even from atlanta like you, what's that an 8 hour flight?
@@00wheelie008 hours seems about right. Thought they would be filming it as it was a 2 night venu. Hank Port was better the second night for me. Although did not travel all that way for that song honestly, had seen then in a few cities in Canada, very intimate settings, but wanted to see the pyros/giant screens and eat some oliebollens.

High hopes for the near future when Jukka might add his vocals to the mix and how the prospect of that may already have influenced Tuomas' songwriting.

I never heard of Henk Poort. He sounds amazing and I love how the second your hear his voice, he OWNS the stage. Almost like he's the frontman. I googled him and it made sense.
He's a famous opera and musical singer and he has starred as the Phantom many, many times in theatre. Andrew Lloyd Webber himself once said that Henk is one of his favourite performers in the role of the Phantom. Sure, its a different kind of show, but you don't become a famous opera singer if you don't own the stage.
Yeap, in my opinion, Henk is the best, the most appropriate one, be than Ramlin Karimloo (an Iranian Musicalsinger) should be taken into consideration, too.
I work in a music school and comparing the movie versions versions to this one was the main topic of the classes on Friday! My young students were so impressed. Happy to recruite new Nightwish fans in each generation :D Cheers guys!!!
This is just the main thing that distinguishes Floor from others; you can listen to her a thousand times, each time capturing something new, she is multifaceted, multi-level, if Tarja is a beautiful triangle, then Floor is a tetrahedron, where the triangle is only one of the sides.
Nothing like Nightwish with Floor and Henk's sensationally soaring voices in full 4k quality. History was made on this night and it lived up to the hype.
The original version with Tarja and Marko will always be legendary. But this Version has nothing to envy to that. Both are worth a Hall of Fame. My full respect to Floor an Henk and my best wishes to Nightwish. Hope to see you sometime in the Future.
This version is disappointing... Her voice just sounds so light and about to crack at any point, just lacks strength and consistency which Tarja had due to her training.

got to see it live both shows, sobbed my way through both of the performances (esp the first one, bc i didn't believe it'd happen anymore and the confusion amongst all of us who knew the setlist was real when everyone stayed on stage, and then the shock, and happiness and, afterwards, the utter confusion and shock and the collective 'what the hell just happened, did we really just get phantom' after the concert was something i'll prob never experience again) and now, here i am, sobbing all over again. amazing
What I like about this - apart from everything - is Emppu ripping it at the end, and that final Floor note, held for an eternity. Everything else is spot on, and I love the fact that Nightwish actually did this, making the gig even more special (lucky Dutch audience!).
That was utterly STUNNING. Henk Poort brought such flair to the male part, and boy did Floor nail that entire ending. Tuomas sure looked like he was having fun, didn’t he?
There are two very good reasons why I love Nightwish: Tarja and Floor. Floor is breathing new life and drawing tens of thousands of new fans. She has really showed the world how powerful, amazing woman is.
This is the first time ever that Nightwish played this song since 2005 after Tarja’s departure. I’m so happy to see Floor and Henk duetting with Nightwish after Beste Zangers

I have heard different versions of The Phantom of the Opera. Each has its merits! Personally, for me, the performance of Floor Jansen and Henk Poort is the best, the most impressive, the most powerful, the most beautiful, the most captivating! Floor creates a mythical, mysterious feeling when she appears on stage and sings. She is multi-talented, has great stage presence and a magical aura! Floor and Henk absolutely complement each other, their performance is fantastic! This extraordinary woman and singer has a special beauty that captivates and conquers! God, I can listen to her 24/7.
Kai is an absolute beast! If people only know him from Nightwish they should also check out Wintersun - Sons of winter and stars or Swallow the sun - Cathedral walls....the last one will also convince you that Annette Olzon, the 2nd Nightwish singer who was very very unliked, really is a great singer....she just wasn't in the right place with Nightwish.

All do the high notes were perfectly in tune. The D6 was also perfection! She started and sustained center pitch throughout. Wow, just wow. Floor never fails to deliver!
From my humble opinion, I can say that Nightwish, is by far, one of the greatest Melodic Metal bands out there, and that I could never be tired to hear. Love this band still lives at these days, where a lot of trashy "music" is coming, and coming out. Hope this band lasts for ever.

I'd never heard Beast in Black until I saw them opening for Nightwish back in December. Yannis was an absolute revelation. The things that man can do with his voice are just astonishing.

Dear God... What took so long? I have longed for a Nightwish version of Phantom with Floor for ages. And to have Henk was a nice bonus. I always romanced at the thought of Floor and Marco duetting this one
I anticipated this for so long. They didn't disappoint! Floor even held the end note for longer than I've heard her do in other performances. And Henk, a class act, as always. Astonishing!
This was beyond amazing. Floor sings this so perfectly, and I love how Henk growls. I didn't know they had done this until today, but wow! I had goosebumps from the first lyrics.
That otherworldly outro by Tarja would remain immortally great, but Floor is the next best thing to this song. What a voice. Lucky to have seen two incredibly amazing singers perform this song.

I've seen 3 versions of this with the same two awesome guys, but my favorite is still from the Beste Zangers 2019 show. Their chemistry there is still unparalleled imo. Always gives me goosebumps.
Have to say that whoever mixed this video did an absolutely superb job. When you watch fan videos of the two performances, both had some technical issues, but you wouldn't know it from watching this video. As for the song itself- top class. Now with 50% extra D6 note! 😁
My whole family had tickets to this exact performance, precisely because I hoped this moment would happen. But due to COVID and life changes during that time, I was unable to fly from the USA to see this performance and had to return my tickets. Though I did get a chance to see the band in Los Angeles, (a mere 600 mile drive). Thank you for posting this. It's the next best thing. Huge fan!
This is the best version of this song ever performed. Nightwish, Henk Poort and Floor Jansen are amazing. Henk Poort forms a Heavy Metal band and continues his activities.

I love how normal Henk looks when walking onto the stage compared to the rest of the crew. Such a Dutch moment, I love it. Amazing performance from everybody!!! I originally had tickets for this show but due to illness I couldn't go. I am very glad this was recorded so I could still witness it!

I like all versions of this song by Nightwish. But this one is absolutely mind-blowing. The duet is really amazing. In general I have to admit that all of Nightwish's experiments look amazing on stage. So grateful for❤
I've been watching it for the umpteenth time. It must have been very funny when a famous band from Finland come to a concert in the Netherlands and suddenly one of the respected artists Netherlands joins them and sings with them. Floor is just beaming with happiness, and Hank Port is just rejoicing with everyone, and Tuomas' smile. They are happy because they see how happy the fans are. I look and it gets so warm in my soul. And Floor naturally felt at home. It's so cool.
Everyone looks like they were having so much fun! It's so heartwarming to see, and I love how Henk Poort just took to the a metal interpretation of the Phantom like a fish to water. Not just adapting to it, but fully enjoying it. I smiled so much seeing that. And seeing Floor healthy, on stage... It's beautiful.

He is also getting more comfortable with distortion and going harsh, with Beste Zangers he really stepped out of his comfort zone with that.

The version with Tarja and Marko is more aggressive and passionate. The version with Floor and Henk is full of tenderness and sensuality. Both versions are amazing! ❤🔥
Personally, I don't like Tarja and Marko's version. I feel their voices are unsuited to the operatic style, like Tarja's scooping and Marko's belt. Whereas here the idiomatic style is much better demonstrated. In the live versions, Tarja is often too sharp on the last note, whereas here it is bang on perfect. That's coming from a classically trained operetta and metal singer, but it's my opinion.

Well no fucking shit, but take stock of what you are listening to. You have one of the best singers on earth performing a metal cover in full voice. Dude probably could have rattled the windows in that place without amplification on some of those later verses.
This was the first time my kids joined me to a concert and we all enjoyed. Not just the Phantom, all songs were excellent.

Henk Poort is a well-known Dutch opera and musical singer. Floor saw the musical as a teenager (?) with Henk as the Dutch Phantom at the time and that impressed her as young Floor. Three years ago, Floor participated in the Beste Zangers programme. She was very happy when she heard that Henk Poort would also be one of the participants. She then asked him if he wanted to sing The Panthom of the opera with her during the duo evening of the program. He then agreed because he in return was allowed to sing the song with Nightwish. Isn't it nice how something like this comes together?😉

Floor held the D6 note at the end for over 11 seconds, and it sounded perfect, beautiful, powerful, without losing anything in the note, with incredible balance.

I asked them why not a local concert and they were there because they were hoping for the Phantom. Imagine 24 hours of travelling for one song! Although did not travel all that way for that song honestly, had seen then in a few cities in Canada, very intimate settings, but wanted to see the pyros/giant screens and eat some oliebollens.

Would love the BD, or whatever D to feature an interview with the whole band, including Henk, abt these ZD concerts. High hopes for the near future when Jukka might add his vocals to the mix and how the prospect of that may already have influenced Tuomas' songwriting.

I never heard of Henk Poort. He sounds amazing and I love how the second your hear his voice, he OWNS the stage. Almost like he's the frontman. I googled him and it made sense.
He was the Phantom Of the Opera for the Dutch version, from 1993 to 1996.

He's a famous opera and musical singer and he has starred as the Phantom many, many times in theatre. Andrew Lloyd Webber himself once said that Henk is one of his favourite performers in the role of the Phantom.
Sure, its a different kind of show, but you don't become a famous opera singer if you don't own the stage.
Yeap, in my opinion, Henk is the best, the most appropriate one, be than Ramlin Karimloo (an Iranian Musicalsinger) should be taken into consideration, too.
Hank is a famous Dutch opera singer and has been the phantom in the musical many times. Floor as a child was a huge fan of him.
I work in a music school and comparing the movie versions versions to this one was the main topic of the classes on Friday! My young students were so impressed. Happy to recruite new Nightwish fans in each generation :D Cheers guys!!!

This is just the main thing that distinguishes Floor from others; you can listen to her a thousand times, each time capturing something new, she is multifaceted, multi-level, if Tarja is a beautiful triangle, then Floor is a tetrahedron, where the triangle is only one of the sides.

got to see it live both shows, sobbed my way through both of the performances (esp the first one, bc i didn't believe it'd happen anymore and the confusion amongst all of us who knew the setlist was real when everyone stayed on stage, and then the shock, and happiness and, afterwards, the utter confusion and shock and the collective 'what the hell just happened, did we really just get phantom' after the concert was something i'll prob never experience again) and now, here i am, sobbing all over again. amazing

What I like about this - apart from everything - is Emppu ripping it at the end, and that final Floor note, held for an eternity. Everything else is spot on, and I love the fact that Nightwish actually did this, making the gig even more special (lucky Dutch audience!).
It's super rare these days to have shred from Emppu!

I have heard different versions of The Phantom of the Opera. Each has its merits! Personally, for me, the performance of Floor Jansen and Henk Poort is the best, the most impressive, the most powerful, the most beautiful, the most captivating! Floor creates a mythical, mysterious feeling when she appears on stage and sings. She is multi-talented, has great stage presence and a magical aura! Floor and Henk absolutely complement each other, their performance is fantastic! This extraordinary woman and singer has a special beauty that captivates and conquers! God, I can listen to her 24/7.
Kai is an underrated hero in this band. He does so many impressive things, even in slower songs. Give drum cams more love. :)

All do the high notes were perfectly in tune. The D6 was also perfection! She started and sustained center pitch throughout. Wow, just wow. Floor never fails to deliver!

From my humble opinion, I can say that Nightwish, is by far, one of the greatest Melodic Metal bands out there, and that I could never be tired to hear. Love this band still lives at these days, where a lot of trashy "music" is coming, and coming out. Hope this band lasts for ever.

I'd never heard Beast in Black until I saw them opening for Nightwish back in December. Yannis was an absolute revelation. The things that man can do with his voice are just astonishing.

This was beyond amazing. Floor sings this so perfectly, and I love how Henk growls. I didn't know they had done this until today, but wow! I had goosebumps from the first lyrics.

I've seen 3 versions of this with the same two awesome guys, but my favorite is still from the Beste Zangers 2019 show. Their chemistry there is still unparalleled imo. Always gives me goosebumps.

Have to say that whoever mixed this video did an absolutely superb job. When you watch fan videos of the two performances, both had some technical issues, but you wouldn't know it from watching this video.

My whole family had tickets to this exact performance, precisely because I hoped this moment would happen. But due to COVID and life changes during that time, I was unable to fly from the USA to see this performance and had to return my tickets. Though I did get a chance to see the band in Los Angeles, (a mere 600 mile drive). Thank you for posting this. It's the next best thing. Huge fan!

I've been watching it for the umpteenth time. It must have been very funny when a famous band from Finland come to a concert in the Netherlands and suddenly one of the respected artists Netherlands joins them and sings with them. Floor is just beaming with happiness, and Hank Port is just rejoicing with everyone, and Tuomas' smile. They are happy because they see how happy the fans are. I look and it gets so warm in my soul. And Floor naturally felt at home. It's so cool.
The way Floor performs this song gives me goosebumps everytime!

Everyone looks like they were having so much fun! It's so heartwarming to see, and I love how Henk Poort just took to the a metal interpretation of the Phantom like a fish to water. Not just adapting to it, but fully enjoying it. I smiled so much seeing that. And seeing Floor healthy, on stage... It's beautiful.
