Thank you for this video! Home economics has just expanded in vision and capabilities. Years ago, Mom showed us to take a fresh caught fish, clean it and rinse the cavity, leave the head and scales on the fish. Mix up a thick mud from clay looking dirt, pack the mud real good around the fish. Rake back heavy wood in a fire and put the fish over a good bed of coals and compleatly cover the fish with coals but careful not to add heavy weight on top, not to disturb the mud seal. Let the fish bake in the coals. The mud will harden and scales will stick in the mud when baked. Remove the fish and let cool some to handle easier. Carefully break the baked mud with a knife or rock. The mud pottery didn't compleatly fall apart when broken and formed sort of a plate/bowl to eat from. I thought I'd share the experience. You could bake fish in the coffee press too. Bread, fish and coffee! 😋

Very informative video. I was checking it out to see if the camp coffee press offered the same stainless steel coffee press inside assembly as the Stanley Classic Stay 48 oz. coffee press, which i LOVE. I like the French press I have because everything inside is stainless, but I wish mine was stove top, too. Very cool how you have made bread in a coffee press! This camp press would indeed make a wonderful gift!
What a fun video and great use of a product that I already own and also love! The coffee from the Stanley french press is so good, I bought an extra one to use at home on my stovetop, when I'm making some afternoon "rocking, chair, cat on lap, good book, and sweet baked treat" time. Usually after a hard day of working in my gardens. Oh, I am definitely going to have to try this bread recipe while camping. Maybe while the hubby is out fishing! Thanks.
You know, making some afternoon "rocking, chair, cat on lap, good book, and sweet baked treat" time is time well spent. We like to bake blackberry cobbler in these and they are delicious. Pretty much anything baked in a conventional oven can be baked in smaller portions in these cups.
I glad you pointed that out "coffee' DON'T OVER POUR...I just got this set and made some coffee this morning and thought I had a problem and or leak...well it makes sense. Don't over pour...lol.
I feel like there needs to be another seal around the top of the press so the coffee doesn't run out around the rim of the pot. I guess just being patient will have to do for now :D

Awesome piece of kit guys! would definitely like to get the French Press. Never tried a French Press before. I was worried that you would still get a lot of grounds in your coffee, I see that isn't so. Thanks for the video.
We get zero ground with this kit. I picked this up and put it down many times while browsing around in Walmart and my wife decided to get it for me for my birthday last year and I was thrilled with it from the beginning. Making coffee at camp really doesn't get any easier than this. Thanks for watching and commenting, Jeff!
Hey Guys, I am a first time subscriber. I have loved watching and learning from you all. I am from NC and live near Fayetteville. Ex-Navy Submariner, so I will try not to pick on the USMC much. lol Thanks again!
I watch hundreds of these types of videos, so I’ve seen too many to be easily impressed, but I AM IMPRESSED! (Seriously, I’ve watched five Stanley French Press videos today before this one.) The lagniappe effect of baking bread like you did removes the need for the other cooker pot and gets you a better result. Question I have is how much coffee are you using for a full pot? And looks like coarse ground coffee, correct? I used some finer grind today and got a bit of sludge in my cup. I don’t mind it but others probably don’t care for it. Hitting like, save, and subscribe just based on this video, Fellas. Thanks again!
Hey thanks, Kevin! You know, being able to bake bread at camp is a real treat. A small bag of flour and such can be easily carried and used for several days worth of food. The Stanley presses are just about the perfect size to bake in. I'm using about 1/3 cup of coffee (or slightly more) in my press. It's Folgers classic roast and I think that is medium coarse.
I have not baked anything yet in this manner (over here, as well as during my australian outback experience, we bake bread inside a dutch oven under the embers), but I am getting interested in trying this "lighter" option! Thanks for the ideas and inspirations. I am searching already for a small grid for my pot, and I also want to try it with my german army mess kit. I am not a great coffee drinker (over here we drink mate tea from the gourd), but I think I will buy this press anyway, since you can also use it to make tea (mint, etc). I think Stanley makes very well thought kits, and the quality is also very good, price is also right. I think they could try to offer a little baking set like this one... greeting from wild, wet, windy and wonderful Western Patagonia
Puma, you are correct in being able to brew tea and other drinks. It's a versatile kit and I love mine. Being able to bake in it really puts the icing on the cake!
Maybe you could make a lid holder that fits in the groove to keep it on there at the largest diameter. Great video! I love my Boil and Brew so much I bought a spare.
I am still tinkering around with a more secure and reliable holder. You can't go wrong with a spare one of these kits! We are putting together permanent kits for our kayaks and these Stanley Boil and Brew kits are in there.
I wish I'd known about this one before I purchased the Stanley Adventure Camp Cook set. I bought that set specifically for coffee but didn't even know they had this one that's specifically for coffee. Now I'm vacillating on whether to send it back and get the other one or just buy both. Hmmm.
Easy answer, buy BOTH! You can make coffee in the adventure set, but, it's easier in the larger press. I used the basket and lid from a campfire pot in my adventure cup here: ruclips.net/video/CrFaean6PXA/видео.html But I do prefer the press now.
Drill some holes near the top for a bail and then use the holes to run a wire through the hole on one side and through the slit in the lid and then through the hole on the other side. An easy way to add a lid holder and a bail to it!
@@Jerryshipping12 they will not, too small in diameter. I have not found a suitable nesting pot/cup yet but I suspect the Stanley Mountain Cook Set will.
Those are some good ideas. I was going to suggest you notch the lid so the clip doesn't pop off but then it might snag your travel bag. I'd go for some mini blueberry muffins myself.
Great video, I've almost watched them all, just wandering where you got the little clip to hold the lid on the cup so it doesn't fall of f. I used to live in N.C from 1987 to 1989 love it, seeing your videos reminds of the days. Thank you for making them.
I actually made that little clip using an engineer stake. Have you ever seen those little flags sticking up out of the ground when someone is marking an area of construction? That's what I used, the steel rod part of it. You can find them at most any home improvement store. I took my multi-tool and just bent it to the shape I needed and voila! NC is the place to be, In2 Prepping!

Really enjoyed this video. I wish there was a link to the baking pans. I ordered the French press for 24 bucks off Amazon, but the lid I was going to order went from 4.95 to 15.95 once the LOWEST shipping cost was added. Oh well. I will have to find another lid. Thanks

You could cut those grill rods just a bit shorter to prevent the lid from hitting. And perhaps bend down the one end lip of the of pan t o make the pan shorter.
I reached out to Survival Resources this morning and they told me those lids are discontinued! I can't believe it! That was the only lid that I'd found that worked with this kit. We'll search around and let you know if we find a suitable replacement.

Hey there! Have you found a mug, that fits around the bottom of the french press? I use it for a couple of years now and looked around a bit when I started using it... What I did then is use a smaller cheap stainless steel cup like yours, turn it upside down and lightly press it inside the top of the press when storing it. If you don't slide it in all the way you even have a bit more space to put stuff inside. You cannot fit the original lid on anymore, but I am not using that much anyways and you can always put it on the bottom of your stuffsack...
I have not, sadly. But I am thinking that a possible solution is the pot from Stanley Mountain Compact Cook Set. I haven't seen one at my local WalMart in a while but when I do I'll try and fit those together. If you happen to find a suitable solution please do let me know. Thanks for watching and commenting, testpassed4!
The issue would still lie with the rim of the baking dish being too large and preventing the lid from being used as normal. A smaller dish and trimming the grate would do!
No, you do not HAVE to, but, it is my preferred method. Baking with the propane stove can be tricky because you have an extreme amount of heat in a concentrated location, it's sort of like a blowtorch. To combat that you'll need to use some sort of material to spread the heat, like a hand full of small rocks. The rocks that I've picked up while hiking have worked for well for me. I spread them out along the bottom of the container beneath my cooking pan to act as a shield between the heat source and the bottom of the baking pan/tray. The rocks spread the heat. Also, I've found that using some sort of heat shield inside the container helps tremendously. I use a folded piece of aluminium from a pie crust pan and it works well. Keep your flame low and take it slow, j Nic!

I use 1/4 cup and a tablespoon (however much this all adds up to be) in a full pot of water. By full I mean filled to the fill line. Depending on how strong you like yourself coffee this should give you a decent starting point. Thanks for watching and commenting, j james!

You're very welcome, FlewTheCoop! Hard to beat coffee and bread! Or coffee and cake. Or coffee and cinnamon rolls. You get the picture :)
I use a silicone mini loaf pan. Holds uo to the heat, don't rust and folds up if need be.
I hadn't thought about silicone! FANTASTIC IDEA!
Really..doesnt melt?
They are normally rated 500°F.
Awesome video! Love this sort of stuff.
We do too, Peter! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Ok, that's pretty brilliant and now I'm hungry!
My favorite piece of kit!
Some butter on that roll would be a good addition. Looks great guys!! Pathfinder nesting pot might fit. I believe id bend those loaf pans in to fit. Nice settup.....
Yes sir, butter would have hit the spot!
I never wrote this on YT but .... I wish I could give you 2 thumbs up !!!
Such a great vid !!!
Wow, thank you, GeeLowjo!
This is my "go-to" kit, I can do everything I need with it, JB. I love it!
Wow, 1 cannister 2 make bread & coffee. Minimal cookware 4 camping. Thx 4 sharing on Utube.
You're welcome and I enjoy cooking and baking with this french press.
Great post..as far as a mug goes I use a cheap Walmart collapsible mug..it also keeps the Stanley from damaging it bottom.
Those collapsible mugs are hard to beat!
@@robertsbushcraft I just made another pot and filled it past the fill line just a bit...to test another myth and what do you know?...by pushing in the press slowly and then pouring slowly or "No Over Pour" ... PERFECTION! no leaks, no gushing out, no burns, this is a truly good piece of kit thus far. Sad thing is I had to watch your video to learn how to pour...lol
You guys superb genius in baking innovative, nice bread outdoor taste, 5 Stars from Malaysia. Gud job guys
Hey thanks all the way from the USA, Zul!
Looks really good. I’m going to get the press now
I hope you'll be as impressed with yours as I am with mine, it's a handy-dandy piece of kit. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment, Maribeth!
Awesome video. Just ordered the French press and 2 lids
Frank, I hope that you enjoy yours as well as I do mine!
Robert I posted your video on the Motor cycle. Camp. Cook. Face Book Page and it has also sparked interest in it.
@@frankrightbrain That's awesome, thank you very much! My name is Curry, and my son is Gabriel. Our last name is Roberts.
Thanks Curry. Love that you and Gabriel camp and cook together. My Son Jason and I have been camping together for around 27 years. Just camped mid November. My Grandson had joined us the last 3 years. We always have a big cookout at camp on Saturday night after opening day of hunting season.
@@frankrightbrain Amen to that, Frank! I am praying that my grandson will eventually come with us too, he's just now turning four months old. I've had Gabriel and his older brothers in the woods their entire lives and we've loved every minute of it.

Thank you for watching and commenting, 281 Covfefe!
I have the adveture cup but not the press, i think thats next. Looking at that beautiful loaf along imagining a nice t-bone steak or porter house steak just makes my mouth water. Enjoyed the vid nicely done thank you guys for sharing.👍
That adventure cup still has a place in our gear too. For years we made coffee, muffins, bread, and so on in it until the larger French press came out. That was an answered prayer! Thanks for watching, LJaysPerspective!
Survival Resources is closed down, apparently. Any idea where we could get a replacement lid?
Wow every time i hit your response to the Christian mans testimony my iPad freezes up and I have to reload the video, that was a good testimony and response, God bless
What in the world? Well, thank you for trying to respond, OD. I'm humbled that Alex put his situation out here like he did and I pray that I was able to clearly express what God laid on my heart in response to him. Iron sharpens iron, right? Thanks for the encouragement and GOD BLESS!
We make coffee the same. Just drop a little cold water on top of grounds and they drop to the bottom. And you can pour you a cup of coffee.
Excellent advice!
Welcome aboard, Shannon! My favorite crayon color is red :D
Heavy duty foil will work too!
Fantastic tip, Bongdu!
Agreed it does make great coffee!
Right on!
I watch hundreds of these types of videos, so I’ve seen too many to be easily impressed, but I AM IMPRESSED! (Seriously, I’ve watched five Stanley French Press videos today before this one.)
The lagniappe effect of baking bread like you did removes the need for the other cooker pot and gets you a better result.
I really enjoyed this, the bread kinda reminds me of basketball!!
That it does my friend!
Natuurlijk knip je een rand van het bakblikje eraf en kort je het ovenrekje in zodat het universele dekseltje er wel goed oppast.
Never knew you could stand it up on the handles. Gonna try that
You'll need to use something to lock the handles together to get the stance right.
Drill some holes near the top for a bail and then use the holes to run a wire through the hole on one side and through the slit in the lid and then through the hole on the other side. An easy way to add a lid holder and a bail to it!
I have seriously considered drilling holes in it, but, I just can't for some reason. Maybe if I pick up another I'll be able try that.
Roberts Bushcraft i just watched a video of a guy that did that
Roberts Bushcraft will the Ozark trails cup not fit around that?
@@Jerryshipping12 they will not, too small in diameter. I have not found a suitable nesting pot/cup yet but I suspect the Stanley Mountain Cook Set will.
Roberts Bushcraft I’ll have to look it up and see the inside dimensions and the outside dimensions of the Stanley French press.
How about cutting the ends of the grate to allow the lid to fit.
I considered that, and may still do it.
Those are some good ideas. I was going to suggest you notch the lid so the clip doesn't pop off but then it might snag your travel bag. I'd go for some mini blueberry muffins myself.
Great tip, William. Awesome last name, too!
Cool beans brother...thank you!
You're welcome! Glad you enjoyed!
I must have bought the wrong mini loaf pans. Mine are to big, gotta trim them. Thanks for the info!
The next time that I go to my local Food Lion grocery store I will take a picture of the pans along with the measurements and post it on our website at www.robertsbushcraft.com
Here at the bottom of the page I'ved added the pans that we are using: robertsbushcraft.com/bushcraft-field-notes/bread-and-coffee-in-stanley-adventure-all-in-one-boil-brew-french-press.html
just bought one at Cabelas
Awesome news! You should check this video out where I modify mine to make it work better in my kit. ruclips.net/video/IEe4dZ7tYC0/видео.html
So much awesome in this video! Hard to unpack it all. 😂
Hey thanks, Seth! Making coffee at camp is one thing, but being able to bake bread? That's another.
Pretty ingenious mod for keeping the metal lid on the pot. Simple but effective. but you know, that pink bandana, I just don't know about that. lol
Turns out Dad had to make extra of those holding rods. He keeps dropping them down in the cracks between the rocks into oblivion!
@@robertsbushcraft Lol
@@robertsbushcraft Can you invert the "handle" in the lid and then thread the retaining rod through it?
@@menoksen that might be possible. We have since found another way: ruclips.net/video/OqP-D-OSVjY/видео.html the video should start at the 40:23 mark
Do you have sizes for the loaf tins? I'm in Portugal, so don't have access to decent stores. Going to have to trust to Amazon. Thanks for any info.
Down at the bottom of this page you can see the pan that we use, hopefully this helps: robertsbushcraft.com/bushcraft-field-notes/bread-and-coffee-in-stanley-adventure-all-in-one-boil-brew-french-press.html
Really enjoyed this video. I wish there was a link to the baking pans. I ordered the French press for 24 bucks off Amazon, but the lid I was going to order went from 4.95 to 15.95 once the LOWEST shipping cost was added. Oh well. I will have to find another lid. Thanks
I purchased my pans at a local grocery store. At the bottom of the article here I have a couple of pictures of the pans that I use: robertsbushcraft.com/bushcraft-field-notes/bread-and-coffee-in-stanley-adventure-all-in-one-boil-brew-french-press.html
I'm thinking these may be a close match: amzn.to/39ye3Z9 and amzn.to/3mvuN6N
@@robertsbushcraft thanks so much I will try that
You could cut those grill rods just a bit shorter to prevent the lid from hitting. And perhaps bend down the one end lip of the of pan t o make the pan shorter.
The Keith Titanium Ti6300 Multifunctional Cooker would probably do that baking well.
Never heard of that one, we'll check that out!
Love your set up. I went on the link you have for the lid and I get nothing. Do you know were else I can find the same lid? Thanks
I reached out to Survival Resources this morning and they told me those lids are discontinued! I can't believe it! That was the only lid that I'd found that worked with this kit. We'll search around and let you know if we find a suitable replacement.
@@robertsbushcraft thank you. I will too. If I find something I will let you know.

OCD ! and I thought I had it bad .... LOL great video Sir
Hey thanks, Jim!
Haven't check out yet but think about making a calzone in it..
100% doable! Anything you bake at home in the oven you can do in this pot. Smaller scale, of course.
So I need to invest in a muffin top... I mean lid!
HAH! A lid indeed, Zanza!
What about trimming the grate down so the lid goes on as intended?
The issue would still lie with the rim of the baking dish being too large and preventing the lid from being used as normal. A smaller dish and trimming the grate would do!
@@robertsbushcraft sorry, I noticed that after I made the comment.
No worries at all!
Thanks for vid. Do you have to bake on coals? We will only have access to our propane stove on our next trip. Thanks!
Tell about the lid please and bread recipe....LOVE THE PINK BANDANNA
Unfortunately the lid is no longer in production! Most a pity! It is fairly easy to make a lid.
Please, can I get the recipe for the bread.
It's here on this page near the bottom robertsbushcraft.com/bushcraft-field-notes/bread-and-coffee-in-stanley-adventure-all-in-one-boil-brew-french-press.html
Awesome vid! I just ordered that French press! How much coffee grinds to water did you use?
I use 1/4 cup and a tablespoon (however much this all adds up to be) in a full pot of water. By full I mean filled to the fill line. Depending on how strong you like yourself coffee this should give you a decent starting point. Thanks for watching and commenting, j james!
You should have brought a jar of jam with you for the bread. You could have wrapped it in that pretty pink bandana. Lol. 😁
I was supposed to bring the jam....hey you can't win them all, freedom dove!
Lol. 😁
That’s weird I think I got mine for like $15 a couple years ago. I’m in KY so prices probably vary from state to state
Where did you got the pan for the bread 🥖 really want those
We purchased those locally at our grocery store. The specs and pics are at the bottom of our article: robertsbushcraft.com/bushcraft-field-notes/bread-and-coffee-in-stanley-adventure-all-in-one-boil-brew-french-press.html
Grind off a bit of grate and lid will fit the other way.
In order to make it fit I'd also have to grind off some of the pan and I didn't want to open it to rust. It works like a charm!
Great video guys. Does the the camp cook ki fit inside the coffee press?
Thanks Gareth! The camp cook kit fits inside of the French press all the way to the camp cook handle latch.
I need a SS mug that will fit OVER the bottom of the Stanley French press.. anyone know of one?
I'm looking for one as well. I think someone mentioned that the Stanley Mountain cook pot fit well with this. I'm waiting to see one in person before before I buy it.
