I was not aware of this product! was close to buying a stay-hot press that would require to boil the water in another pot (car camping), great recommendation!
I have that same press. Found it at a thrift store. It is my favorite french press out of the perhaps four that I have used. It does still leave a bit of "sludge" in my coffee even with course ground beans but it is less than any of the other French presses that I have used. If I pour the finished coffee either through a filter or another container and leave sit a few minutes before carefully pouring it into my coffee mug, that will eliminate all the sludge. As for the taste, it makes great tasting coffee. Some of the best I have had and I own around 14 different coffee makers. I get almost all of my coffee makers at thrift stores at a fraction of the original cost so I can justify indulging my coffee maker collecting habit. lol Enjoyed watching your review. As always, a thumbs up on the video my friend.
I love that you have a coffee maker obsession. I also own several methods for making coffee but honestly you've got me beat on both price and quantity and probably variety as well!
Ah yes, nothing better than french pressed coffee, especially when camping! I fell in love with the Carribou Mahogany, such delicious coffee. Thanks for the course ground tip, I'll try it😊 Good to see ya! Hopefully, you and the Warden will treat us soon with a hot tent video!
I actually have two new (maybe 3x) hot tents to test out and I have a stove video for a new stove dropping next week! Now that fall is here I am going to try to publish videos more consistently! We've been so busy this past year on the farm since we bought our property. Its hard to find time to edit videos, and I like to do a good job on each on, so it takes time. But fall is here now and I'll have more time on my hands!!!
I have that and is great. Sometimes I like just simple cowboy coffee but when I’m in the mood for french press this is my go to including at home, no need to use different vessels, one step to make and that’s it, forgot to mention you can also make cowboy coffee and use this to keep the grains out of your cup. It really is versatile. Another great video, always looking forward to them. Thanks.
I'm going to try to start posting more regularly now. I actually already have another one scheduled for next week! Summer is a very busy time since we bought out house a couple of years ago and video editing takes a ton of time I just don't have in the summer. But Fall is here!
@@LoneCrowAdventures congratulations! Yeah fall is here and I’m trying to make it to my other place in Baja, I don’t have internet there since is not my primary residence so I might miss some videos. I don’t want to be here this winter, last one was so bad we made the news. I’m too old for all the snow shoveling.
I'm sorry if I come across rude but I'm not really a outdoorsman guy. I'm a coffee guy. DEFINITELY do NOT boil the coffee. The roast you seem to be using seem to be quite harsh, so probably not much, but with specialty coffee: boil the water, wait a little, put the coffee, stir well, wait about 5 min to REALLY get all the flavors, (infusion is always always best, as you might have noticed since you said you prefer the French press) AND THEN press it. Give it a try, I'm positive you won't regret! No rudenesse, just luv from all the way from Brazil! Hope you enjoy your coffee even more!
The cheesecloth bag method you recommended a while back is the lightest most effective way of making coffee when weight is an issue like backpacking. The Stanley French Press is great for day hikes when weight is not as much an issue. Thanks for both suggestions, you know your stuff.
Have you had the a problem with coffee leaking from where the plunger meets the top of the pot ? It seems as I pour coffee leaks out of that area. I have to press down hard on the plunger and give it a twist to stop it from leaking. Other then that it's a really great press and makes great tasting coffee.
I have a single burner i tested this on initially (only used it once so far) and had the handles away from the side and burned the crap out of them when I went to pull it off the burner. It looked like it was centered so I don't get why my handles were untouchable. I had to buy a little pot handle insulation sleeve so I can use this. One thing I don't like is that there's no way to seal in the liquid with the cap. When you turn the "opening" away from the notched pouring area, it doesn't stop liquid from coming out, just makes the opening smaller. I won't take it back because of this but I want to use on road trips and have dogs around me so I'll just have to be really careful it doesn't tip over or i somehow have it spill. I like it, just wish the handle had some sort of rubber coating and the lid was able to seal in the contents when rotated.
Legit question: other reviews (and I think the instructions) put the coffee grounds in AFTER the water is heated. You put the coffee grounds in before it’s heated and heat the water with it. Is there any difference? Better taste? Genuinely curious as we’re about to go camping with this press for the first time.
I purchased the STANLEY Coffee Press when it 1st came out ❤❤❤ it. My USMC Son asked to borrow it for his weekend wild camping. I NEVER SAW IT AGAIN😂. He fell in ❤ with it too! I bought myself another one, of course 👍. LATER, he asked to pack BOTH to take when he was deployed. AGAIN I bought myself another (3rd one) to FINALLY 😊 enjoy my trusted STANLEY Boil-N-Brew French Press for my own adventures 🎉❤STANLEY, ❤ Coffee ☕. BTW, it also fries up a mean 👍 1/half Fried Chicken Breast or Fish, if you haven't tried doing that yet, also for Homemade Home Fries 🍟. Because it's tall enough with 1/3rd oil and you're Good to Go since Stainless Steel doesn't retain leftover flavors for more Coffee ☕ again later.
how do you get the grounds out and clean up? We just had a test run on our home stove last night and I'm just thinking, if we are camping we'll need a lot of water/a lot of "scooping and scraping" labor to get the grounds out. With the collapsable silicone pourover we were using, plus kettle and paper filter, it's so easy to throw the paper filter out and all ground are contained. but with this am I going to be "scraping out" grounds then having to rinse multiple times? or am I doing this wrong?
Probably not long, the steel is hard but not very good at heat isolation. It's not double walled. If you want to keep it hot check out other products that are meant for it. To be completely clear if this one had double walls with vacuum between them the stove would have a really really hard time heating the water up
thank you young lady. I’ve had this unit for a few years and this is the best review I’ve come across. you have a new sub.
Awesome! Thank you!
We've been using ours for about a year and love it.
I've added a small Skippy peanut jar inside it to hold a few days of fresh ground Coffee
That's a great idea! I just used mine in the hot tent thus morning! I'll have to remember the Skippy jar trick next time I empty one!!!
👍idea! I'm 2 spoonfuls away from an empty Skippy as I write this. Now I'll know💡 to keep the jar for my STANLEY Boil-N-Brew. 😊!
My friend got the same one for me I love it every day

This coffee system is actually very fabulous 👌

I've had this thing for years. So handy to boil the water in the press! We always take it for our car camping trips. It's pretty bomb proof!

Thanks for another great review. Your voice is very soothing and you articulate so well. You should do voice overs or do YT storytelling. ❤
Awe. Thanks for the positive feedback. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed my video! Cheers!!!

Cowboy coffee is boiled. It is good. Not bitter. But then again, you might not like it.

Great review. Stanley hit a home run with that press. I made a cozy for mine to keep it warm longer.
The cozy is a fantastic idea!!!
@@LoneCrowAdventures yeah a cozy works really well. I’m enjoying a pot of coffee right now. See you on your next video.
Thanks so much!!!

I really like Stanley Products. As for camp coffee, I like the simple instant coffee.
Ugh.... instant! Never!!!!
Thank you. How long it holds the brew hot inside?
Got to have the coffee. This is on my wish list.
Very decent little system. I'm happy with it.
Is it a good fit or a ton of room if I stick a 32 oz Nalgene inside it with out the filter

I have one and love it 😊
I used mine in the hot tent last weekend! Makes great coffee!!!
I'm impressed that you got all that stuff in it. The 2-cup cook set probably couldn't do that.
No it cannot, but unfortunately this is a heavy system for backpacking, but for a lot of other applications, the ability to nest it is great!

Lol bang it against the side of a tree. Rinse, swish, bang again, then a quick wipe out!

That looks great. Just checked our Amazon.. 61 Dollar, and then another 22 dollar for shipping. Darn it!
