Just a small suggestion: Most likely a mute point now as this video is 3 years old but when you cut the end flange off the pan, just trim one end & put that end in first towards the back of the Stanley. This way you will still have a flange to grab hold of. Or just a little off each end would be even better. As far as the space under it when in the Stanley cup/pot, I think that's a good thing for baking. It allows a heated airspace & protects the bottom from direct heat just like a real oven & prevents burning. Thanks for sharing what can be done for a tasty meal outdoors. Looks good. Cheers.
Just found your channel and subscribed immediately. Thank you for sharing your wonderful ideas! Our whole family enjoyed this video 👍 And thank you for your service, Sir. God bless.
I know this is a 2 yr old video, but I just stumbled across it. Now that looks really good!!! Biscuits and sausage gravy is a staple at our deer camp!!! Of course we make our sausage gravy a little different here in WV, or at least I do. When I started hunting with my father in law and his sons 39 years ago this is how he taught me to make it at deer camp. We have the sausage, a ton of pepper (gotta have that pepper), just a tad bit of salt and of course I add just a tad bit of butter while frying up the sausage. Once the sausage is done, we add just a little flour, stir and then pour in the milk. While it is cooking we stir the gravy so it doesn't scorch. Of course if you want a thick gravy, which I don't care for, you would add more flour to the sausage before adding the milk. If the gravy seems to thick you can add more milk to help thin it down. But man what you fixed there with the onions (I love onions) looked really delicious. I am going to have to try your version of sausage gravy!! Great video, and I have sub'd to your channel. Juddie - J & J TOA
Swabby! This is your Machinist Mate snipe buddy Thanks for showing me how to make biscuits & gravy in my Stanley adventure cook kit I've been watching RUclips videos about USS Saratoga CVA-60" I think i told you i served 41 months aboard her 66-69 As you were sailor!
Actually, Robert, I was a SeaBee and spent 2 years working Public Works at NAS Bermuda. The rest of my six year service was spent stateside. I did, however, do 2 weeks aboard a destroyer; worst two weeks of my life! Lol. Thanks for your service! Glad you liked the video. Brian
Was just watching a video about baking in the Stanley. A guy that made a make shift tin foil baking pan. Gave me an idea of a small baking pan like yours out of the dollar store. You just answered my question that it works! Just trim a little of the end with a grinder and the lid will close. Thx for the share and you just got a new sub. Noticing your "SEABEE" cap respect to you for your service! Cheers from a former Canadian combat soldier.
Great video! I will try baking in my Stanley adventure cook set. I have two of them. I’ll designate one as an oven. Thank you for your service sir. I just subbed.
I wonder if the pot handle could be closed to hold the lid on especially if your using a multitool to move it in and out of the fire. Or use heavy gloves...
When I was watching the video I saw you didn't have the flower, I thought you were going to save a little of the bisquick to use as flour in the gravy. And then bend the front and back of the baking pan lip down vs cutting it so it fits in the pan. Then use the handle folded back over to hold the lid on. It all worked out anyway thanks for the video I need to give it a try.
Why didn't you just use the pot handle to hold the lid in place? I can't see the utility of a dedicated baking pan, personally. I'm thinking of making a small wooden cutting board, cut to match the inside diameter of the Stanley pot, possibly with one side flat and the other slightly dished for cutting/crushing things that might roll away like nuts/beans. Dished side could also serve as a baking tray. Wouldn't be as good as a high walled metal pan, but a little bit more multipurpose. Might also serve as a plate for serving things that wouldn't fit in the GSI cup or Stanley pot. You might also consider picking up a cheap ikea French press plunger, as they fit the Stanley pot perfectly and give you another way to use your Stanley pot.
Thanks for the great ideas, Wesley! What I did there was an "experiment" to me. Sounds like you have some good plans, I'd be interested in hearing how they turn out! Merry Christmas to and yours!
You should have closed the handle over the lid that will keep the lid on and if you have some foil you could wrap foil around it for now since the gap is a little large
Hi Kenneth! The reason there was a small gap was that the pan was just a little too long. As you can see, it really didn't make too much difference. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Have a great day! Brian
Thanks for the video. Wondered if you could give links to the different items you used like the loaf pan or what size was the pan at least? I need one of those salt and pepper shaker I have never seen one that small.
That loaf pan is almost perfect, A little more info on it would be nice. length width height, make, where did you get it. should have saved a couple of table spoons of bisquick to thicken your gravy. Great video
Well, Joseph, I honestly don't remember where I got the loaf pan but no doubt it was just a supermarket or maybe a Walmart. I have three of them and have had them for a very long time. You're right about the gravy! Thanks for taking the time to comment and watch! Brian.
@@anoldmaninthewoods2548 Well Hell, LOL How bout sending me one? Just kidding I'll do some searching and see what I can come up with. From the video It looks like It says Faberware stamped in it right? Thanks

Way too complicated. My alternative to biscuits and gravy, is to break up a pack of Ramen Noodles into tiny pieces and put in a freezer bag. (don't use seasoning packet. Instead, add 1/2 pack of Pioneer Country Gravy. Then add 1 cup boiling water into freezer bag, close, shake, and let sit 5 minutes. You can add some bacon pieces if you have them. Ramen is flour, just like biscuit is flour.
Hey Seabee, I was a Hospital Corpsman in Vietnam back in '69. Glad you made it home, brother. Btw, I enjoyed your Biscuits & gravy outing.

Pull some of them coals to the side and isolate that fire to what you need then rake those coals as needed to you to cook.Nice fire sir. Cheers

Using the pan that I used, it would not fit however, if I had cut down the length of that little pan, then yes, it would.
