    A little hint anytime you use a new Skillet like that taking put some cooking oil in it said it on the fire and let it cook and season that pan couple times it won't stick is bad

      And if something does, and/or you scorch it (as I did in the bottom of my Stanley cook set cup), the 50/50 water/vinegar heat to a boil mix method will get most all of the burnt & stuck stuff up. Especially if you've already tried scrubbing with Brillo a/or other abrasive cleaners with minimal/moderate improvement.

    Just to add a suggestion. If you get eggs from the farm that hasn’t been refrigerated, you can, in a egg carrier, bring 6-12 eggs and no refrigeration needed as they will in normal temperature last a month. A week long camping trip is no problem. This is for farm bought eggs only, not supermarket eggs!

      Also gotta make sure they aren't washed. Other wise if they are washed you will wanna dip them in mineral oil

      Or seal washed or store bought eggs with Palm oil. My preference due to then having no mineral oil in food. I use the Walmart plastic egg carrier.

    I think stainless is the best material for a fry pan. Stanley makes great stuff!! I have several of their cookpots/kits on my boat, and a couple of the frypans. You have to play with it to make it as non-stick as you can. You might have it way too hot, defeating the benefit of butter. Also, try avocado oil next time. It has the highest smoke point of cooking oils 500°+. What’s that little french press pot you have?? How 'bout a link for it!!
    You’re making great vids!! My only negative is how you were sawing/cutting your firewood... NEVER against your leg, or any other body part!!

    I bought the Stanley Pro cookware even heat set not long ago, and it came with a frying pan. I'm not sure if it is the same size as this one, but it looks about the same.
    I love mine. It's not lightweight, meaning it is very durable, and the bottom is very thick. I don't put my cookware directly on the fire, I use an old grill grate from a BBQ that I threw away. I place rocks, branches, or whatever on each side of my fire and then put the grill grate over them to give me a few inches above the coals. Noticed I said
    " coals " and not fire. I believe an actual flame might be too hot, and I don't want to destroy my frying pan.
    But that's me and how I use mine.
    I alo NEVER use pine or cedar to cook with. The pine or cedar will make your food taste like a pinecone.

    Coconut oil works very well for non stick abilities. Well, it works very well with cast iron but I assume it will work just as well for ss. Add a little butter for flaver because coconut oil eggs are not that good.

  • @stephenfloodphoto
    @stephenfloodphoto 3 года назад +1

    I purchased this recently and the lid does not fit. Does anyone else have this issue? I got it specifically because it has the plastic lid so I can put it away dirty without it making a mess in my bag. I turned the pan upside down with the lid on the ground and put all my weight on it and it still does not go on...just wondering if I got a bad one or if they are all like this?

    10 min in on an 18 min video about a frying pan & still hasn't used it. Think it's far past time to move on.
    *Edit: I stuck around because I'm interested in purchasing this pan but in the end, the pan was only used for 3 min from 11:00 min to 14:00 min & that was just to scramble some eggs. you could do that in any pan. I'll now carry on with my search for a proper demo/review of this pan & why I should or shouldn't buy one.

    you can make the SS pan non-stick by first pouring some veg oil (1/8") in the skillet, then heating it over hi flame and rolling it around until the oil smokes and the skillet starts to discolor around the top of the oil marks on the skillet, then you dump the oil and let the pan cool, then cook on coals at a lower temp than you heated the oil with. only thing is you have to retreat the skillet every time after its been washed., the good thing is it stays clean, and you only have do this once as long as you dont scrape off the coating during the trip...here is a little demo of this I came across ruclips.net/video/0iSh4ut6Hms/видео.html

    Great video but I can't get past you sawing directly over your femoral artery. 6:53 A slip of the saw could fatally end you in seconds but at least that was over your thigh. 7:20 is even worse as you actually lay the material on your thigh to cut it. That was hard to watch. That area between your legs is called the triangle of death for a reason. Never use a blade of any kind anywhere near the femoral arteries. Look up and use a technique called a plumber's vice to perform sawing tasks and you don't risk severing an artery. Anyway, great video otherwise!

    • @marksnyder4397
      @marksnyder4397 3 года назад

      Saw the same thing and cringed. While i dont think the laplander saw would have made it through those bibs it's a bad habit to get into use the plumbers vise. Other than that video and will be buying that pan. Thanks

    • @silvanigra
      @silvanigra 3 года назад +1

      Using a knife like that is a different story. The saw would most likely scratch or superficially puncture your skin, but not enough to sever your artery.
