@@WayPointSurvival yessir, I believe the whole of the country would benefit from doing exactly that & more than just a couple of times. Thank you for doing what you do & being as genuine as you are & I'll keep looking forward to watching it. 👍
I bought this stove and I love it. I can’t believe they went out of business. The stove is such a thick and sturdy metal I believe it will last a lifetime.
Simple Theory Gear is back in business, but not producing stoves again yet. They have a proprietary firestarter they have released and that is where they are starting back. I highly encourage everyone to support them and help them get back into business making these great stoves. I've had mine for over 3 years and love it. It's not a backpacking stove for me (too heavy), but for car camping and bushcrafting, it's unmatched. To be fair, I have taken it backpacking on shorter treks, because I like it so much, but for longer multiday hikes where I need to crack out 10+ miles a day, I have an ultralight kit I take (Firebox Nano, Ti kettle, alcohol stove, etc.). I would love to see the Pack Stove 2.0 back on market, and would love even more to see a titanium version.
Hi James from the UK 🇬🇧, after watching your video, I bought a packstove from their second batch and added the new speed plate, definitely one ☝️ of the best stoves going, seeing that grate speaks volumes to the one ☝️ pan/skillet cooks. Now you have a stove which can handle stir fry, it just keeps getting better.
If I didn't already have my original STG stove and Stanley 2 cup cook set, I would be all over this. Mine nest perfectly and fit in my maxpedition 1 L bottle pack. I carry my water separately.
James, I truly wish that I had words to properly articulate how incredibly thankful I am for all that you have done for us. Not only is this another spectacular video, but in all honesty, the XL is only in existence because of your amazing insight and feedback. As Ronald noted earlier, you most definitely have a gift for making products better than ever thought possible. I sincerely cannot begin to express how appreciative I am for your wonderful encouragement and exceptional support. Truest Regards and Deepest Gratitude- Mac
I think it’s awesome that you guys listened to feedback and made changes. I have several buddies that rant and rav about your stoves. They look awesome! I wish you had one that nested with a canteen and cup. I would buy 3 instantly! Love what you guys are doing. Keep it up!
I was bummed when i heard they were going out of business. I already had the small one so i bought the larger one when they had their going out of business sale. Great stove. Im glad i have both sizes
Add me to those who love this stove and the company who makes it. Versatile, sturdy, reliable and economical too because you will not need to replace it, it won't break, bend or wear out. Good review by the way. Happy Holidays to all.
i bought a Pack stove XL i love it , and Mac was a very nice guy and very helpful . so sorry that he had to close his business . the pack stove is awesome.
Excellent. It's great seeing the improvements to this over the previous model, and how it compares to, say the old Ikea utensil strainer stove idea. The fact that it can work as a woodstove, with esbit tablets, with alcohol stoves and presumably, it could similarly hold a small isobutane canister and stove, really appeals to me. It would give you the greatest possible versatility with the smallest footprint. About the only way they could make this better is if they could find a way to make this work with a woodgas stove design. Great video.
Enjoyed it James. As I've stated in the past you made me realize the value of my Stanley cook set. I also did a review on the earlier Simple Theory Gear model with speed plate in the past and can certainly see the advantages of new one here. Thanks for sharing.
hi james you make a demostration very full , of this cook set , is easy to carry , light , usefull even in the city too , is funny , and enjoy the wild life , you now ; the best flavor of the meal is in the forest , thank james for share us yours skills and yours tricks , i see you be fine
The stove seems great! My only gripe is the square grill for a round stove. An additional speed plate with appropriate sized slots would allow for grilling and maybe even toasting. I am super impressed by the level of consideration you have put into this cook kit. I could see a proprietary product based on these hacks.
James, this is possibly one of the best video series I have ever watched! Thank you for your ingenuity and experience, and mostly for having such an awesome charismatic attitude to share it!
James , thank you for sharing this very informative video. You have a knack for making a good product even better. All the best to you and your family. Stay healthy. 🤗
This new improved stove shows great insight ! Good as merchandise is, there’s always some things to tweak, making them even better and handier on the campsite.
I love the show man it is one of the funnest things is to have a nice warm drink when you're out in the woods and that trick you use to cool off your drink I used to do that with beers or sodas coffee cup just like you did there whatever and if it was deep I would tie a string to the rings on the sodas or beers or a plastic bag tie it to the Shoreline and drop them in the water to cool from the creek heck I even did it with fish to keep them cool until I was ready to cook them up this is a pretty neat little stove set

Nice video, just purchased the smallest Toaks stove, a Solo Campfire Stove kit and already have a Stainless Firebox kit. The Solo will be used when truck camping and the other two when backpacking. Also have Pathfinder canteen and bottles which they both have their own small stove that nest with their respective products. A nice Stansport mess kit with copper bottom on the frying pan, another pan and a pot that all nest together. The small Toaks stove nests in their 700ML cup which then nests in the 1800ML pot and the cover is a frying pan all made out of titanium.
Thank you for the update. I've been wanting to see the new model. Always looking forward to your videos. They are not only information but entertaining as well. God bless
I love to carry heavy-duty aluminum foil and a binder clip. The foil is folded in half, so it has a double layer. A circle of this around the stove keeps all the breezes off the fire so it goes straight up and none of the heat is wasted.
Thanks James.. I just ordered my new XL Stove! I can’t wait for it to arrive. Mac and the team at Simple Theory Gear are absolutely awesome to work with!
Your series has been great. I would say the stove should be smaller in diameter to fit between the Stanley cook set and the Sierra cup. I love all the different developments of this cook set.
Yes, it's a really great upgrade. All the features of the original but tweaked to be a hotter and more efficient burn as well as a better nesting of the cookset AND cup which is how a lot of folks carry it. Thanks for watching and commenting, my friend!
Noticed you used the spoon to stir your cocoa. A trick I learned, back in my Army days (when C-rations were issued), is to fold the empty cocoa packet into long quarters, and use that to stir with, vs. dirtying a spoon, etc. Does just as good a job, and saves on cleanup.
No creek? Take your thick folded aluminum foil and hold it on the edge of the rim of the steel nesting cup for about 15 to 30 seconds to cool the rim down. This way you can sip the hot drink without burning your lips. Excellent video and bravo for such a very thoughtful and unique design change. This is the perfect design I have been looking to get for a stove.
Yes, the fact that aluminum foil is an excellent conductor will help dissipate the heat faster. Also, while this stove is no longer for sale currently, we are working to bring it back into production.
Hi. Love your videos but I had an idea to use your empty hot chocolate package, roll it up leagth wise and use it as a stir stick to save your spoon for something else
Hi James, Thanks for doing this series. I've had most of the components for this kit for a while and just never thought about putting them together. Now I'm building two! Also, thanks for letting me know this stove existed. I just got mine today. It really does work well with the Stanley cook set! Warren

The Ikea silverwear holder holder is not only cheap but it works excellently, especially with the Stanley. The trick for air flow is to get it off the ground with metal rods or even green wood. The Simple Theory is nice if you believe in killing mice with a shotgun.
That Stanley Adventure cook pot lid fits just right on that GSI cup. Also Stanley sells lide for $6 each. Others tried using various can lids but they don’t really work. Just found your channel. Thanks for your great enthusiastic reviews.
