I appreciate your very relevant heart-felt points and understand the gravity of the situation. My problem is a deeply rooted cynicism about our government’s ability to both understand the issues and to invest properly in solutions that are not simply driven by ill-informed groups such as the Just Stop Oil and climate change extremists or self-seeking industries attempting to make a fast buck on the back of the climate crisis. The whole nonsense about smart meters is just one example. Billions of public money has been invested in this flawed and suspect technology. 8 million or so metres are already faulty and the whole scheme is really about introducing dynamic pricing to maximise the profits of power companies owned by other countries who charge UK residents more than their own nationals. If our politicians were better informed and showed true leadership I could go along with what changes are necessary but the impact of their ill-thought-out plans will result in measures that may cause much suffering for ordinary people and have no real impact on the true problem. Britain’s days of morally “leading the world” are surely over. Yes, support our scientists to develop innovative ways to help decrease the impact of climate change but don’t ruin our economy, and the standard of life for ordinary people, by expensive and useless measures that simply tick boxes. Virtue signalling solves nothing. I have worked in the sustainable development sector for many years and see the nonsense first hand. We will never become a net zero economy but will soon become a third world economy unless our political leadership gets real.
given mr musk's apparent concern for CO2 build-up, i wonder how he justifies the launching of the rockets, emitting a lot of this gas into the atmosphere, although, i think having mars as a back ups potentially sensible???
His answer is, 99% oh his rockets distribute satellites, all other rockets distribute 1 satellite, his system literally delivers 40 or 50 then Instead of leaving the rocket in space it returns and is reusable. So on space terms he is saving huge emissions. Privately his mission to mars is a cost. But if you look at the massive impact he has made in cars and reusable rockets plus multiple satellites per rocket. Mars is a drop of water Vs a ocean he saved

He said: a)Trump and Musk were previously Democrats. b) Are they planning to run the US like a business? How was Fiona Bruce to find a connection between a and b? Were Musk and Trump actually ever really Democrats? Didn't Trump donate to both major parties? We're either party members at some time? (I don't know the answers, just posing the questions) Are Democrats known to be more business-minded than Republicans? Is it appropriate to run a government in the same way as a business? Is everything about turning a profit? What do you the questioner feel about Trump and Musk as a combo? One could have asked these questions based on the young man's comments. But it would have been time-consuming and frankly a bit fruitless.

@@JamesHambrook thank you!
Bla bla bla bla...open your eyes and you will see.
imho, television b4 the internet was worse 4 us, with respect???
I 8 the use of lazy abbreviations. Imo it makes me lmao, bc it's not that hard to type an actual word lol. It need to stop sooner rather than l8er. Iykwim
24:20 Fiona didn’t have to do poor kid like like that 😂
@kylejohnson
She did try to understand the import of his comment which he was not able to clarify even after she gave him the opportunity to do so. There's only so much time in the programme.
He said:
a)Trump and Musk were previously Democrats.
b) Are they planning to run the US like a business?
How was Fiona Bruce to find a connection between a and b?
Were Musk and Trump actually ever really Democrats? Didn't Trump donate to both major parties? We're either party members at some time? (I don't know the answers, just posing the questions)
Are Democrats known to be more business-minded than Republicans?
Is it appropriate to run a government in the same way as a business? Is everything about turning a profit?
What do you the questioner feel about Trump and Musk as a combo?
One could have asked these questions based on the young man's comments. But it would have been time-consuming and frankly a bit fruitless.
Worker's having rights an being able to pay there bills in stead of going food banks. that's so unfair 😂😂😂😂😂 bang out of Oder! An look one hundred billion lost cos of Brexit! So there is a Brexit tax as well! Dummys!
The host being as biased as ever , not challenging pie in the sky statements by Jonathan then falsely trying to correct actual facts from the more conservative panel member she and the BBC are a disgrace
What were the "pie in the sky statements"? And what did she correct that was factually correct on the conservative side? I'm no fan of Fiona but I didn't see her doing anything wrong in that regard.
i wish Damien cd have helped me more with my quest to ask the OU to extend my fee xtension more, with respect! i may have to approach the royals if there is no 'movement' with this, unfortunately?
Greg Jackson gets loads of government subsedies. Without those subsedies I suspect Octopus would go the same way as all the other companies.
there is a toxin in the air, Tim, with respect, from exhaust fumes which might damage ppls' mental health, possibly???
Fiona Bruce as balanced as ever 😂
Scotland..... Scotland is one of the windiest, most resourceful places INDEPENDENCE RFN 🏴
SO IS YOUR WINDMILLS
I find this obsession with tackling climate change by reducing greenhouse gases in a country which produces 1% of all greenhouse gases at home but imports huge amounts of goods from countries like China thus increasing their greenhouse gases instead utterly ludicrous. Anyone with the tiniest grasp of simple arithmetic knows that is a laughable objective.
GO TEAM
So even with wind we'll be buying power from other people????
Fiona spends far too much time chatting to individual audience members. The audience both in person and via TV are tuning in to hear from the panel, not from other audience members.
I use to be a regular viewer of QT. I can’t stand watching it these days. I watched the first 10 mins of this video and decided to switch off.
praps tim needs to remember, with respect, that GB was the first to industrialise, so y not be the first to go green??? while i take on board his considerations bout costs to the GB populace, is this not an emergency? also, it seems that the new technology is reducing in price?????????????
Tim Stanley LISTEN to the experts!!!
The chairs of this programme should shut up and let questions flow. The programme is spoilt every week
It's about controle and utter nonsense
Folks have to realise the more tax we pay and monies given to the government that the world cools down . Give more money to cool down 😂😂😂😂😂😂 the energy companies have just made 3.4 billion profits so think how much cooler the earth is this winter when the pensioners are freezing to death 😂😂
I am worried about the wholescale embracing of e-vehicles. Toxic stuff in batteries and the mining involved is one thing. Where do people think the leccy comes from? All from renewables? To me, it may be better, but not a complete solution. Hydrogen or other forms of carbon neutral gas propulsion would be better. And prioritisation of mobility over speed.
Tim Stanley is a complete, total, and absolute fool. That guy has *no* idea what he's talking about, on any topic discussed on this panel.
No idea why they keep bringing him back all the time
@@rooks4ever Fiona Onasanya is busy days.
There talking about the dairy industry having an affect on climate change.. and he says he doesn’t listen to that isn’t it strange what there doing to farmers
either Labour's for or against the market economy, no, with respect???
Cannot stand Reynolds - I simply cannot watch him, his hypocrisy and lies.
My god, this show!!! 😒 This show is a perfect example of why the American people overwhelming voted for Trump. Normal people have had enough of this lefty nonsense. This country is so lost, heading down a very dark road.
Amen
Load of rubbish - just be honest if you don't understand what is being said
@@rafl-hx8kw 🤣😆🤣😆🤣😆🤣😆🤣
BBC, planting commentators in the audience since?
Is the BBC still going? I thought it had been shut down.
to me its ironic that we need to reduce meat 'n' dairy bc it's possible that the latter were the first to be farmed, and, again i'm guessing, i think that before these animals were farmed, we used to worship them, or, at least, honour them after we 'dispatched' them???
"conditions 4 success in the long-term" ... ???
Dearest Mr Hinds, with the greatest respect, pl eff off ...
Jonathan Reynolds trying to justify the unjustifiable 😂. Oh wait a 22bn black hole
am i hearing right ... is Ellie saying that bloodshed should continue, with respect???
Tim Stanley? Wot a bloody dope.
If you tell a lie often enough it doesnt become the truth you know.

Nobody from Reform on the panel funny that !!!!!
Yeah we need a laugh

I'm sorry to say I gave up watching question time just BBC propaganda
25:00 countries are not businesses!
Trump has picked a series of amazing people to run the country, and none are from Washington
Surely eating more natural foods and less factory produced good makes more sense
STOP SPRAYING HEAVY METALS INTO THE ATMOSPHERE
The grinning head bobbing bloke on the end pushing his business at every question... boring 😴
Stopped the bbc licence 6 years ago don't miss watching it at all !
That first "guest" was all for locking the country down, he was on good morning britain defendeing the indefensible during covid whilst his ubermasters were eating cheese and drinking wine. Sick of you lot.
I stopped watching this labour propaganda program
