Well over here In Ireland - OF&H is still one of the most repeatedly watched and revisited of all comedies with its many scenes and hilarious lines still being recounted today - speaks to its sheer brilliance and best of best in British comedy for all time.

Only Fools was a very diverse show, which featured many people from minority backgrounds in different episodes, which is why it so popular with everyone. The main cast was very small if you really think about it, the guest stars in different episodes is what made the show special, you had pretty much every minority group represented in one episode or another. It was way ahead of its time

I’ve watched Fools and Horses more times than I can count and even being sad enough to know every line it still makes me laugh. I love that a lot of the scenarios are true stories from South and East London.

@@dddux a lot of them are which is why it’s just so brilliant. I know “The Yellow Peril” when they painted a Chinese restaurant with tube paint is true and so is a lot of the “Long legs of the Law” when Rodney dated a copper and a house had to be emptied

Great compilation 😊 A couple of scenes that I'd have loved to see included was Uncle Albert stuffing up being mock shocked at Rodney taking a woman (not Cassandra) on a date. He keeps going "aaaaahhhh" in horror at the wrong times, then not at all when he's meant to. Also any scene from Friday the 14th when they're stuck in a remote cabin with a homicidal maniac. I skipped a few minutes of this compilation here and there so if these scenes were included, my apologies. 🤗

friday the 14th is obe of the best episodes ever. Unfortunately i've watched a few of these compilations and i've not come across it. The Amsterdam trip with the diamonds is different class too. If I come across friday the 14th i'll be sure to let u know which clip combo it's on my friend.

Just a couple of years after OFAH finished for the first time, before a few comeback episodes, I fell in love with an African woman, and English wasn’t her first language and she was still new to the UK; she having come from Mozambique. Some evenings, when it was on, we would watch OFAH on UK Gold (or whatever it was then).
The first time we watched it together was the episode with the chandelier. At first she seemed a bit unimpressed and frosty (or maybe it was something I said 😂 - joke!), but as she keyed in to the facial expressions and saw the chandelier smash onto the floor she didn’t stop laughing until over an hour later. And even then, the next day when it came back into her mind, she would suddenly randomly start laughing again at the memory of it.
Now, well over 20 years later, she still watches the repeats avidly, remembers the characters and plot lines better than I do, and the show has become ingrained into her personality in some ways; in particular the way she views the UK and certain types of characters.
She feels that shows like this have made her happy and that the country is a happy place for her, even if life is hard sometimes, she rarely ever feels offended or threatened because she thinks people are funny here. She also likes things like One Foot in the Grave, Fawlty Towers, Dad’s Army and Mind Your Language. When I told her why the last one was cancelled, she said that she felt that that was silly and that the way some academics see things doesn’t mean that they should get offended about things on her behalf when she never even asked for it, nor did other black people.
Other than that, she hates it if people think that she just listens to soul or reggae, she being a fan of American country music, or rock music like Bob Dylan, Simon and Garfunkel, David Bowie, Bonnie Tyler and a whole lot of music that’s more wide-ranging than most people would even know about. I know some of that lot is American, but just maybe the UK does produce a lot more good music and television than we give ourselves credit for.
