A friend of my called me a pervert for loving this show. My own sense of humor is quite like this because life is way to serious these days. Godspeed Rick, Thank you for cheering everybody up❤
There’s not a single day that goes by that I am not front and centre quoting all the various scenes from the most important and prolific comedy show in the history of the planet.
They'll never make comedy like this again. More to the point, they'll never be allowed to make comedy like this again. Absolute classic, this is making me want to rewatch it all over again.
If they made comedy like this again it'd be blatantly copying a formula from 30 years ago, that's probably why. Creativity is about trying new things, not endlessly repeating stuff. But if you want more of this, watch the morgue scene from Ash vs Evil Dead. Oh but, of course, you're not allowed to make comedy like that anymore (and etc. with the right-whinging).
22:35 Eddie getting beaned by the other burglar who stands behind him watching in amazement before Eddie finally falls over is one of the funniest things I have ever seen in my lifetime. It was hilarious when I first saw it when it aired and it's still as funny now.
Where in HADES is the Burglar????? Eddie points up to the ceiling where he has mummified the interloper in sellotape and then webbed him to the ceiling with the same.... That is the one and only time in my life where I really did p*ss myself laughing. I could not breathe from the hysterics. Its typically Eddie / Ade Edmondson and classic Bottom. He did a similar trick with it years earlier in a Dangerous Brothers sketch on Friday Night Live. Rik and Ade are babysitting in a big house and the glass coffee table gets smashed in one of their violent fights. To cover it up, he uses sellotape corner to corner to make a cross where the glass was. And sticks an ashtray in the middle, so its suspended there as if it were on glass.....Just priceless. And he goes - "They'll Never Notice!!...."
My mum always watched this so she introduced these two the main reason why I watched it was because of Eddie makes me giggle btw I started watching bottom at the age of three yeah tree I am now 22 years old and it never gets old 😂😂😂
Funny how i still find myself quoting these two legends to this day , so glad i got to see two live shows , the big number 2 tour and 2001 arse oddity ( still got the program for that one ) .
The man. The Legend. You are dearly missed Rik. The world was a better. More fun place with you in it. Travel well brother. ❤ I remember having a house party back in the day. We all watched Guest House Paradiso. From the Bockbuster. What a great time we all had . Ade your awsome too mate :)
Using the chat up line "That's a smashing blouse you have on" is a good idea, cos if she laughs she must be a fan of Bottom and is likely to be a keeper.
I remember reading back in 2014 before he passed away that he and Ade were considering bringing back a bottom live tour again 😞 would have been great to get one last show.
@@JackAcid Nothing about Bottom is anti-woke, woke just means being sensitive to issues and awake to injustice, nothing in that precludes a comedy about two desperate losers at the bottom of society.
Woke did happen though. And its now so bad no one dare make anything or do anything or say anything in case someone gets offended. And few people do. Its the fear that they may upset someone, simply because all the common sense is gone. And diversity is more important and representation and LBGT etc. And they amount to a tiny fraction, but are now pushed as the majority and over represented. All this comes first, comedy, talent, writing second. The BBC and Uk used to have sitcoms like Porridge, Open All Hours, Last of the Summer Wine, The Good Life etc. And when alternative came along with Rik and Ade etc you got the other side with more extreme stuff like Young Ones, Bottom and cutting witty shows like Black Adder....Character pieces like Only Fools and Horses. From the late 90s on all of that sort of ouput has gone, with nothing to replace, nothing good anyway...And that is what happened to Uk comedy on the BBC....
Is Moo always really vocal or is it just in the kitchen? Asking purely because I absolutely love the idea of him just stomping around your house yelling his head off all day for literally no reason 😂
Yes. I remember that happening. Rachel Nickell was killed by knife in front of her child. All over the news and the police had no clue so framed and trapped an innocent man for it instead. He was an odd case and a loser and a bit weird, but he did not kill her and it took years to prove his innocence and get compensation. The BBC did not broadcast the camping on Wimbledon common episode at the time as they thought it would not look good. But it was never mentioned. Some few years later when it was broadcast I thought it was one of the funniest ones they ever did, a true classic. I had no clue it was from an earlier run. The best episodes of Bottom are usually the ones when they are out of the flat doing something mad, such as minding the shop, and sunbathing on the roof, or going to the hotel, on the Ferris Wheel or this camping episode...When they are trying to hunt for food, and Rik ends up getting repeatedly blow darted by Eddie, or goes face first into the fire as the flames shoot up five or six feet in the air, before flailing his way into the pond to extinguish himself. And Eddie just goes deadpan - "You've put the fire out now....." Yes with his face! Hysterical.....
That's why I have the dvds. Saw button live in Oxford. It was great. R.I.P. RIK
Peace🌎✨️💫

I could never get tired of this stuff. Love the hell out of Rik and Ade.
Me too. Icons
Ahh they’re dangerous
One of the best comedy duos! Rik and Ade are icons!
Still quoting this 30 years later...
Yep know every word still
I used a smashing blouse once, followed up by do you want to come back to mine and watch a kung-fu flick? It worked 🙏
Well that’s just effing marvellous isn’t it!
RIP
If only we had some flares 😁👍
My gran fell of the chair laughing at this back in the 90s. 'That's not a beard'. 'I hope he brushed his teeth'.
That first sketch is hilarious how much Mayall is able to say with a little movement or couple of words. One in a million for sure.
Loved every episode. Tragic Rik is no longer with us :(
I've got all the episodes, the live ones and the film.
I used to love watching this as a kid its brilliant 😂😂😂
Thanks for uploading these clips, it's been helping me through a bad spell of depression 👍🏻
Me aswell, keep the chin up.😊

Comedy geniuses both of them,RIP rick

My son always bought me the tapes then the discs still have them all, I will always treasure them as my son is no longer with me
Worse yet, they might even remove these in time to come.

The chess match and the punch up they have afterwards are my favourite moments.

The flying spiderman absolutely finishes me off 😂😂😂
Genuinely one of the funniest things they ever did, along with "Its not a dressing gown, anus, they're cowels"
That's a smashing blouse lol
Absolutely magnificent, don't make them quite like this anymore don't they
Na this is back when the BBC had a sense of humour. Unlike now where everyone has to either be black, lesbian, or in a wheelchair.
Rofl
True they can't make it anymore, but it also means there is no risk of it being remade and royally fucked up either
