I think the judge actually did her, and the rest of society, a great disservice by not holding her in contempt and jailing her for a few days. She was displaying, firstly, direct and total contempt for the court. There's no question about that. She is completely contemptuous toward the court and any person who would not lay down and be steamrolled by her. But she was also displaying some habits and conduct that certainly make her life harder than it needs to be, and the lives of all the people around her harder than it needs to be. Her insistence on dominating every conversation and never engaging with the other person as an equal will cause her tremendous difficulties in all aspects of her life. Perhaps a few days in jail would give her the opportunity to calm down and think about how she approaches things. It really would have benefitted everyone if he would have held her in contempt. Since he didn't, she goes on thinking that if she just overruns people things will work out.

People like her (read: Karen) will never be able to understand that what they did was wrong. In her worldview, she's right and she's smarter than the judge. Whether she gets jailed or not, she's the victim. He probably also figured that after trying to sue the guy for the date, if he threw her in jail for contempt, she'd just turn around and sue the judge as well as anyone involved in her arrest. I would hazard a guess and say the judge just thought "fuck it, not worth the trouble, I'll just shove this onto another court".
